The taylor swift cinematic universe was really out in full force this day. Harry, Joe Jonas and Joe alwyn all in one place. Would've loved to have seen those 3 chat 😅
LOL
One of my biggest pet peeves is when the nude illusion look doesn’t match the skin! It ruins the illusion 😣
Kim Kardashian at Paris fashion week uggh
Oh yes
Has everyone forgotten that this is a fashion channel. Luke is not here to look into taylors 'hidden messages' or accolades as an artist. He is here to comment on clothes. Its really not that deep guys 🙄
right. like shut up
RAH RAH RAH RAH SHDHSIA! OUTRAGE AGAHHH... jk jk 😜 you're totally right. It's just fun to read the taylor stans and pretend to be outraged over nothing.
The "lore" feels like in english class when you had to write an essay on some poem on a red cup or something and you would pull a muscle trying to tie the cup to the womb to the mother earth to sacrifice.. a muscle straining reach 😅
Commenting to also boost your comment
She looks good tho
@@7moodts843
Nope, she looks scary with that hair and makeup. Someone has to say it.
@@mrsbarleysomebody8773 just saw like 3 different comments where you shit on her please get a job or sum
The fact that the hollywood funny body diverse men like Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen started to try and dress better and are actually killing the game makes me so happy. That Dior suit is STUNNING!
Its about time we do not stand for mens who dress like lewis capaldi aka wrinkly black shirt and jean combos on red carpet anymore
Jonah hill needs way more props
Exactly, I know it can be a challenge. God knows there is not enough options for women who don’t fit the standard size let alone for men, but these gentlemen certainly have the means to do it and if more brands try to be more accomodating to their needs, magic happens.
I was shocked by Seth's look! AMAZING!! I also love that most of the men are trying to be more fashion forward with their looks, it's so exciting

need this commitment to my school work
Thank you for this.
i want taylor to be a fashion girl soooo bad, i just know that she would rock it, but it's always a hit or miss with my girlie.
how about if she doesnt want to be a “fashion girlie” you cant force these things on others lol
@@farahwork2552 listen... If you wear clothes, you're in a form of fashion.
If you mean trendy or kooky fashion sure you don't have to, but ALL fashion is a statement
I actually like Taylor's style. She's one of my fashion icons. And I love the princess gowns she wears to the red carpet. If I continue with being a fashion designer I want to design a dress for her someday. But I don't like the gold dress she wore either. She had better dresses than this.
It's always a miss with your girlie 😭😭😭
@@hannahthereseavila1565 She has varied styles, sometimes she fails and other times she looks spectacular, but Taylor Swift still doesn't find her style.
The same as sydney sweeney!
"you can't be mad at a house code but I wanna be" 😂 i love your roasts, most of the time I super agree with you and when I don't I still can understand your point
Absolutely love Taylor, and I know she's promoting Midnights, but I have to agree that this particular outfit wasn't a statement.
I agree, she doesn’t actually have many big interesting red carpet fashion moments compared to comparable celebrities. Love her work she’s just not adventurous with her looks.
Well she’s a classic no this wasn’t a wow factor but 5,10, 20 yrs from now. It will still look good and not be like “omg what was she thinking” trends come and go but some things are just timeless.
Also, I think the color doesn't go well with her skin tone. It looks too monochromatic, if that makes sense. Nothing stands out, her hair, skin, dress and that "jewelry" is too much of the same color...
Let's be honest, Taylor has barely to never made a statement
@@Shyra46 Righttt LOLLL!! It was literally all the same color...
I know it wasn't a WOW moment for Sadie Sink, but I thought the smooth flow of the Stella dress and the color was beautiful on her! She's very much a Stella girl!
Yeah I didn't mind it at all!
As much as I understand not addressing it, the real talking point of Emma Corin’s piece is the cut of the bikini bottom.
I'm sure it was fitted well, but damn did that make me all sorts of second-hand uncomfortable.
You can see half her labia 😂
Very odd, revealing what appeared in the still photos like hip tendons
looks like she tucked 😆
So unflattering!
Was waiting for this. I saw Emma Corin’s photos earlier today and I literally thought “I WONDER WHAT LUKE THINKS ABOUT THIS!”
Luke saying “crinkled and wrinkled” is my serotonin. 😩😂
Read the title and couldn’t agree more. TS is a gorgeous woman and her outfits rarely elevate her looks. I am sure Joanne Fabrics had similar paillette fabrics for prom in the late 80s. 💤
sameee
Lmaoooo Truuuue
Fun fact about Harry's suit: the green flower on the lapel is a queer symbol created by Oscar Wilde in 1892. He instructed many of his friends to wear a green carnation on their lapels to the opening night of his comedy Lady Windermere's Fan. From that point on, a green carnation on the lapel was a secret, subtle hint that you were a man who loved other men. This is a pretty important reference keeping in mind the movie Harry is at the TIFF for (My Policeman) - A story that shows Harry's character exploring a same-sex relationship, in spite of homosexuality being illegal in the 1950s.
didn’t know this! that’s a nice touch
he appears to be wearing a lily? like that is not a carnation
Not the pressed swifties. As a swiftie, don't even listen to them. this channel is about fashion. He doesn't give a damn about what deeper meaning the dress has. Either the dress was ugly or it wasn't. Move on
really? then why does he think method-dressing is great when other people do it and wants more of it?
@@janux018 Taylor has a horrible stylist… get over it
@@janux018 Because she wasn’t successful with this look. You can’t use “method dressing” as an excuse if the look is hideous.
@@janux018 method dressing doesn't work if its hideous AND not fashionable or effective
I'm a swifitie and I agree with you too. As someone who loves fashion and wants to work in the industry someday. Clothes have meaning too. But depending on how the message was executed. Depends on how the design of the clothes were executed. So if the message wasn't clear then the design wasn't executed well.
I know you don't usually comment on hair/makeup but I really appreciate that the Janelle Monaes hair is styled in a way that matches her dress! Really elevates it for me :)
As a Canadian, I’m hoping that the folks that showed up in blah outfits don’t make this a theme for TIFF… I feel like TIFF *just* started gaining traction on the international scene (correct me if I’m wrong) and would love love love for the fashion to be on par with some of the older/more “distinguished” red carpets we see!
Edit: ok so definitely WRONG about TIFF recently gaining traction, and can definitely acknowledge that it’s had a lot of great films, actors and directors in attendance in the past. Though my comment stands: I’d love to see the fashion live up to things like Cannes or Venice!
From what I know it has been a major film festival since at least the 2000s, so when it comes to the film industry it has been relevant for a while. A bunch of films with high hopes for the oscars and other awards premiere there. Here in Europe it doesn't get as much coverage as the European festivals like Cannes or Venice but in the US it's quite big.
TIFF is not just gaining traction on the international scene 😂 I'm sorry, that's just HILARIOUS, especially coming from a Canadian. So, yes, you are definitely wrong.
Two random people's opinions doesn't make you wrong 🙂
I think it would be so cool if you did a fashion roast and review of a celebrity’s red carpet history!!!
That purple skirt of Sophie’s was so beautiful. One of my favorite things I’ve seen in a long time!
I love how well he explains stuff. It paints a picture, and is great for visually impaired. Cheers 🎉
me before watching HauteLeMode: belt, whatever
me after i started watching HauteLeMode: ugh belt 🙄
Janelle Monae is always cutting edge and glorious and I'm here for it.
She's always trying way too hard to the point that it gets boring
@@yespls4184 yes she should try to be more beige and rectangular like the rest of you xD
Lashan Lynch's Prada dress is absolutely stunning and fits her so well. The shade of the pink looks beautiful against her gorgeous complexion. As a women, I would totally wear Seth Rogan's Dior jacket and shirt! So stylish, elegant but not stuffy looking.💋
Isn't it? Really, I think its my favorite.
@@victoriadiesattheend.8478 Totally!🤗🌟
Absolutely love the way you describe the pieces. You can envision what they look like without even seeing the looks with some of your descriptions
I've noticed an increase of interest lately in Vivienne Westwood (and the anime Nana, which is strongly associated with it), I'm very interested to see where it could lead.
Harry Styles does it again! I'm particulary obsessed with his 60'sish bag.
Me too
I like Taylor, but people in the comments need to calm down. What "secret message" is she sending by looking boring. We've seen her pull better looks
@cucumber_loves tomato nobody cares. This is a fashion channel. Either the dress was good or it wasn't. And this look was utter boring
Leslie is always bringing something new to the red carpet! His fashion sense is underrated tbh
You are fabulous! Thank you for your real assessments.
I loved janelle monae’s outfit- the organic material made me think of sea bone structure and it made me think of creepy mermaids and I love it. The sheer is something to work on for the designers, I’m so sick of blatantly lazy color matching for dark skinned people on the run way it’s so annoying and wouldn’t even take much more effort to get it right. But that’s not her fault!
Also I wish you’d said something about the scalloped edges on the train for Lucy boynton’s outfit. It was too show girl for me but the details all hit. Like you said it needed to be toned down though 😂
Agree 100%
I was just excited to finally see someone else besides Dove Cameron wear IvH on the red carpet
Ooh! So early. Always excited when you upload a video, Luke
I know Luke knows this, but he didn't mention it. Those really skinny straight suits for men were worn a lot in late 1950's/early 1960's by black doo wop and early motown bands, and the skinny ties that look like strings actually used to BE strings- braided leather strings with a silver slide that were called bolo ties. They were worn predominantly out west during the same period, maybe even a little earlier. I had one growing up. They were KEWL.
The Bottega skirt is divine! And Joe Alywn in Celine is perfect!
m&m green will forever be a color in my mind now!!
Viola Davis is a beautiful flower!💗 i absolutely LOVE these bright colors on the red carpet.
Just correcting, Lucy Boynton's dress is a Valentino Haute Couture, not Chanel 🙂
Well, that’s disappointing. Chanel having bad red carpet moments is something that I’m more used to. Good catch though.
New subscriber and I just adore your commentary!💜
“ I can see the stamens sort of popping out there“ Luke I will watch you explain anything
that Erdem piece is absolutely gorgeous , she looks like a whole starry night sky walking on the carpet . and the way the dress flows . 2nd fav was the bottega , such a cute fun look
the thing about taylor... she has the potential to be such a fashion IT girl
No she doesn't omg.... she's the most flavorless woman ever in every single aspect. She doesn't know A THING about fashion
Great video!
Ok but the SLEEVES on Seth Rogen's suit also give it a whole new feel, they're a bit too long or they're tailored to look like it, and so imo that element also accentuate the waistline even more. I love it
Shout out to you Luke calling the top in the Bottega look a “wife pleaser” instead of the alternative ❤
What’s the alternative?
@Maya V that type of tank is typically known as a ‘wife beater’ 😬
Awesome review
Loving Tilda Swinton & this look - so chic
What ive seen with taylor is that she uses these really glamorous outfits with a lot of sparkles but her overall accessories, hair and makeup is the simple classy look.
I think that you've really really gotten better at respecting propriety. Particularly regarding women's figures. I used to find it very very frustrating as it was beginning to get kinda sorta out of control.... so .... I'm very very glad to see you've reigned it in. My interest in the channel has been preserved for now! 🙂
,,well actually Taylor Swift references XYZ so you can't critisize it" actually we can, average person watching isn't deep into TS lore and just because its a reference doesn't mean its not tacky
I think had the underlayer been skintone and undetectable and there was more variation betwen the metal pieces to make it more gritty looking, it could have given viking goddess energy. But since everything is one shade and we can see the white and it's too clean, it just gives prom sequins with body chain blah and kinda hurts my eyes ngl i can't imagine looking at that dress irl it would be blinding
I'll only let hautlemode trashtalk the Queen Taylor's fashion, nobody else
23:15 I can't with the transparent Oprah😂. The dress might be bad but she's serving illusion
Love that Bottega look! I want that leather BV tank top.
Love love LOVE Lashana Lynch in that Prada! It’s close to immaculate perfection! That oh-so straight band across the top the arm and bust is spectacular … and is it the angle or is there a hint of ombré from pale to almost imperceptibly darker pink as the dress descends to that hem which Luke so rightly celebrates. In short brilliant! Thank you Lashana and thank you Prada!
I love when Harry gets dressed 😍 always has interesting men's wear (and green is my fave lol)
Loving Lashana Lynch in the custom Prada. So beautifully tailored and perfectly fitted to her, I really enjoy the minimalist off the shoulder detail, and with the shade - a sort of melon pink, almost? looking incredible with her skin tone. The earrings really finish the look. Brava.
Thank you Luke :)
Y’all…. Taylor can be smart and foreshadowing the new album and people can think she looks amazing but not everyone is going to share that opinion and that’s okay
as a swiftie im laughing at other swifties having a meltdown. luke is analysing outfits- purely as fabric, cut, stitch, colour, pairing, material, history and runway. he does not care about whether this foreshadows anything for midnights. you need to calm down!
Harry is the epitome of elegance here - love the colours and the shoes are sublime. Oh dear Oprah and Taylor - what were you thinking??
Lol I love Taylor but every time she comes out wearing something ugly I am like… girl Luke is not going to like that 😭 hahaha
are you gonna do a NYFW fashion roast of the celebrities & influencer's street style bestie? 🤔
The colors look great on viola.
I love the time stamps but I understand if its a pain and will still watch of course! ;)
im a swiftie and i know when outfits are horrendous. what taylor wore was not very exciting or intriguing but i think she looked good. the dress fits her really well and i think the straps add some excitement to the look. so it's kind of a hit and miss
The dress is ugly, you can buy similar shit for less money in regular public stores
It's more about the construction and materials and it was lazy AND something you could buy off wish
Seth Rogen ATE!!!!! Of all the people I imagined to wear a Kim Jones for Dior look from THAT collection, Seth would definitely have NOT been on my list! So him turning it out at TIFF in that bar jacket suit was a pleasant surprise and a huge WIN for Seth!
Lashana Lynch’s dress was so clean and elegant, loved it. & Sophie’s skirt was beautiful! Everyone else looked eh ok.
‘The ones that existed’ 😂 living for it!
OH MY GOD! i can't believe i've been busy the past 2 days and that's when you upload TIFF roast😭😭😭😭
i feel in love with you all over again when you called Emma by their right pronouns (people have been shit with those)
Absolutely loved your take and why the hell haven't i subscribed yet is beyond me! Thank you so much for this
The sheer dress with underwear trend is DEAD IMO
That title got me 🤣
I really love Lashana’s Prada dress She looks stunning🎀
Wife pleaser! Love it. I shall be using this term ❤
Seth was "smokin"! 👏
I could be wrong, but I think the Janelle Monae dress was method dressing for her upcoming movie, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, as it appeared to resemble onion peels.
Aubrey Plaza at the White Lotus premiere wore a very similar red Stella McCartney dress to Sadie Sink's TIFF dress
One day I hope Luke does a video on his shoe aesthetic. I want to understand!
Janelle Monae looks stunning!!!!
I like Sophie Okonedo's look minus the fringe at the bottom. I would love to wear an outfit like that.
I love your jacket! Where did you get it? 🤗
I think is vintage Celine!
u ate and taylor stans r mad
Some of these looks are work appropriate i need more red carpet people i enjoy you so much
i think sometimes up and comers think being simple will not rock the boat and therefore will take them farther when in actuality being a bit out there, even if it fails, get your name in the conversation more than being simplistic and boring
Ah, loooved Harry Styles outfiiit. Sooo green, soo good. 🙂🙂
ikr
What is it you liked about it, beyond simply fancying Harry? It's something an 80's nana would wear. His attempts to be David Bowie just don't work because he doesn't have the individuality of David Bowie. He's playing dress up at all times.
@@itsonlysound I liked the colours and the vibe. If it looks nana-ish to you then let's call it Granny Vibes. For me that is a lovely aesthetic. I don't fancy him BTW at all, heard like 1 of his songs and that was it. If somebody is colourful and stands out from the crowd then I am happy. And to me he stood out.
I feel like I've seen Lucy Boynton in that same dress like 10 times already
If Joe Jonas’ look was a different color I think it’d pop so much more. The detail of the look is lost in such a dark textured fabric
Agreed!
stans going on a crusade to defend their fav, when no one even slandered their fav will never not be funny (criticism of someone's outfit =/= personal attack)
That Taylor Swift dress would be at home in Vegas/Atlantic City.
Absolutely agree, it’s like she still wears the same style she wore in the 2010’s.
That ill conceived, fitted and styled number on Lily James is hands down the worst. Best is Sophie in the oh so chic and cool Bottega ensemble. That colour and detail in the skirt! And those shoes! 🙀 Definitely with you on that Seth Rogan blazer - incredible cut. My honourable mention goes to those beyond impeccable Chanel pants Tilda is rocking to perfection. 👌
fun thing about Harry's gren jacket is that it's the same jacket he wore on Venice festival red carpet but in green colour. It shows that they're very versatile. Harry wore both really well, I loved both looks but Venice just a tiny bit better. Again it's from Gucci Hahaha, which Harry helped to design so he's like a walking ad for it lol. I love seeing that, it's pretty classy yet a bit quirky, nothing that would put an ordinary man from wearing it imo.
Emma looked amazing, their and Harry's duo was a highlight of the evening, he was wearing their dress train wherever they went it was hilarious :)
Janelle Monae is the epitome of elegance
Sheila Atim! I don't even know who she is, but I'm getting obsessed. Every time she shows up in Luke's reviews it's stunning.
Why did we skip the july/august fashion roast roundup? :(
I LOVE the rant about Adam Sandler, bravo Luke!
My favourite look; Seth Rogan in Dior. I love the nod to the new look silhouette but done for men's tailoring. Very nice 👌🏻
I’m going to stay saying “tough” at people’s outfits from now on
I usually go 😬 while sucking air in and feel it says so much.
Taylor swift has always been pretty minimalist with her fashion, she doesn’t wear much jewelry and the designs are always very simple. Now if we’re talking about her concert wear that’s a different story and no one can tell me that any single outfit from the reputation tour couldn’t be on the red carpet
Luke please review Richard Quinn SS 2023, personally I enjoyed the collection, you’ve got volume, texture, interesting silhouettes, brand codes like latex and florals, there’s some embellishments
Personally I think it looks like it belongs in the same conversation as the designs inspired by the Victorian gothic movement from Alexander McQueen
Taylor Swift’s dress looked like a Wish dress in it’s ad. You know it’ll be cheap and shitty fabric up close, but the ad makes it look ok.
At 25:15 he mentioned that the blazer „has the very 1940s new look feel to it“. But the picture which is popping out in this moment shows more a early 60ish silhouette/ look. Maybe it was a mistake in the editing but it is a little bit confusing. It looks like a direct reference of the famous Dior „Bar“- jacket.
Hey boo no pressure but is there gonna be Emmys & Venice 2?
