Leaving this comment here about your new pop culture video. Here's my own faintly structured thoughts:
I think there's a lot of people who have "NPC" taste in media purely because they've never experienced the incredible pay-offs of investing effort into discovering better art. For some, they may not even realize there's a world outside the mainstream. On a related note, I really view curation as a muscle. Only through repetitions do you develop a strong ability to discover gratifying media from distant corners of the internet. Unfortunately, there's tons of people who have not developed this muscle at all.
Now, in the Solar Sands video, I think there's an additional, more central component to his critique which I'm much more cynical of. It's his idea that pop culture is worse than ever before. I'd encourage anyone who believes this to go sift through some records at an antique store. The average fifty-year old album is junk. In my mind, it's really a combination of survivorship bias and nostalgia that lead people to think it was better "back in the good old days." That being said, the structures undergirding where (and where not) good art appears is constantly changing. That can begin to explain why top-charting music seems to legitimately be getting worse. As an aging music industry calcifies, increasingly all the great artists have moved to the fringes--tiny independent record labels and file-hosting sites like Soundcloud and Bandcamp. It creates the illusion that the culture is dying, when it's really not.
So if I were to sum all of this up, I'd say our culture has become a slightly different flavor of what it's always been. Constant cycles of invention, collapse, and revival.

I kind of agree with what you're saying about pop culture always being crappy, but I do think there's some merit to the idea that it's even worse now. Well, at least I'd say it's reflective of a worse culture as a whole. Even if you account for survivorship bias, the movies and culture that have "survived" into the modern day (from previous decades) had more too them. At some level they rung more "true". I'm thinking movies like Wizard of Oz, Star Wars (the three original), old Disney movies (Bambi, Beauty and the Beast, etc.). Even the stuff that's considered "good" today really lacks any heart or semblance of heart.
Music is a harder one for me to pinpoint or form any solid opinions on. I think because music is so much easier to create (especially nowadays) it's been way more effected by the bifurcation of media. The mainstream stuff is like it's always been because it's got all the money and industry behind it, but the alternative stuff has suffered. The "alternative musicians" aren't really trying as hard because they don't have to and because there's no point to trying. I don't really have the time to write out all my thoughts right now.
Also, I didn't mean to disable the comments on my pop culture video. I was trying to disable "comment moderation" (because the auto moderation rules are ridiculous) and screwed up.

There's so many misinformed things in this video I can't even fit all of them into one comment, you're meandering and weaving in and out of topics to just try to cover all the buzzwords with no solutions as usual. I don't know you, I don't really want to know you, I think you have a lot of misconceptions about how everything really works.

i haven't even watched the video yet, but if you're going to say this, you should be able to say exactly what and exactly why. This "you're wrong but I cant say how or why" reeks of collectivist leftists anti logic.

@@davidgreenwood6029 he called farther left like a guy "like Biden" there really isn't any much to say here. if you think Biden is farther left or Kamala for that matter then you will never believe that Trump is worse then Biden or Kamala.
even if you hate the Left you have to recognize that the Left holds very little power int his country. Biden is more systemically a Liberal. same thing with Kamala. Most Leftists are anti-systematic. they don't like the system and probably many Leftists supported Trump to some degree of course Trump isn't the best case scenario for anyone even a Leftist. but a lot of leftists that don't follow Leftist circles tend to vote Trump since he's an authoritarian and many of these quote "Leftists" who aren't Libertarian Leftists but just Soviet tankies who defend Russia and oligarchs for that matter and even China to a definitive degree will usually support a guy like Trump. not all of them some of them don't support him for similar reasons the Libertarian Left-wing doesn't support Trump.
but you have to admit this video is just poorly informed and misinformed at worse. since Biden and Kamala are not "Far Leftists"

I look at things in a way I don't think a lot of modern people do. For example, currently I'm getting most of my philosophy from James Burnham and John C. Calhoun. I've yet to really come up with solid terminology.
What's something you think is misinformed?

@@LuciferMorningStar-t8uDespite some policy wavering, Harris and Biden's ideology ultimately comes from the book of equality. Might be using the words left and liberal too interchangeably, but ultimately they (along with Sanders, Chomsky, etc.) represent something that is very adverse to the principles of true Conservativism (Burnham, Calhoun, etc.) Even Trump is liberal when push comes to shove. He's got a healthy right wing streak though.

What is it they say that they went so far left they left all of us behind. Good luck with the channel.

Ha! You think the Democrats went far left? You have no idea what far left is, their problem is the opposite. They're not going far left, they're not going anywhere they want to do this stupid "keep the status quo" crap and no matter what you are liberal or conservative both agree that the status quo needs to change.

The moment they actually start going more "left" is the moment they will start to gain way more support, nobody's going to taste something like universal healthcare then wanna go back the days of begging people not to call the ambulance while heavily bleeding. Or go back to the days of spending an arm and a leg for pharmaceutical drugs essential for life.
Until then they're the ones being left behind.

Yeah that's why Bernie was so popular with the same demographic trump picked up this time around. That's why the Harris campaign running to the center made them lose their base.

@@stupidduck3200The Democrats want universal healthcare, but they just haven't moved on it yet. The fact that it's a topic that's taken remotely seriously (especially on a federal level) is just a prime example of how far the Overton Window has shifted and our values have degenerated.

@@bb-jy7iuYep, Trump got a lot of people on board by promising them stuff the same way the left does. A lot of Trump supporters are a sort of "welfare but only for us" crowd. They aren't Conservatives like the kind we had in the 1800s.
