Awesome video, but please don't promote Established Titles, they're a known scam. Don't take my word for it, just search for Scott Shafer's video titled "Established Titles Scam" to know about that scam. Cheers!
This accidentally holding doesn't occur with the Quest2 or the Pico4! The vehicle sections (especially the boat), I only could master in sections of 5 to 10 minutes... then continued the next day...
5 seconds! thats all it took for this vid to make me smile and laugh wholehartedly, even tho I was having a crappy day. Keep at it, you're doing it great as always!
It's funny people seem to like Ravenholm so much. Either my game bugged out or I just couldn't figure out where to go, but that place was where my one and only playthrough of half-life 2 died.
I do think the old games were definitely not designed for VR. Busy combat is tough, even on a PC where the only things you need to do is press W and click your mouse. VR, you're physically aiming, and so it's hard to actually kill anything. Which is why Alyx has so little enemies, less than a quarter of the enemies in Half Life 2. HL2, you'll be fighting like 10 combine in one single area of a load-zone. Alyx, you're fighting, at most, 5. You need more preparations since everything you do is much slower compared to the fast-paces actions of Half Life 2.
10:40 You purchased a saw blade to use as a prop and hold it while wearing something covering your eyes. Bravo! 🤣😂 You've earned a subscriber for risking your health.
It is. They claim to sell a piece of land, but they do not actually sell it (seling very small piecies of land is not allowed by scottish law), and even if they did, it would not grant the title to the owner of the land - only thing they are selling is a gag gift. UpIsNotJump probably wasn't aware of this at the time.
Fun fact, when I loaded into this in VR, G-Man appeared at my left, and I didn't realise until I heard him, turned to the left, saw him at point blank range, and then almost ripped my headset off in terror.
Nah, it's a prop from long ago, where he wanted a single leg, but realized that he can't buy just one leg, he has to buy the whole mannequin. Watch his other videos too, he's good. You'll eventually find the one.
well, the only reason the vehicle section feel bad is the constant turning and the bouncy, playful nature of the physics. this is why player movement is usually done with snap turn, but then again, snap turning with a hoverboat would be kinda shitty so, i'm not sure what could be done to make it better
d2_prison_01 is indeed after the buggy section, but not where it ends, which would mean you would miss out on a few levels. d2_coast_10 is when the buggy section actually ends. There's a tiny bit of driving at the very beginning, but it's like 1 or 2 turns to the outpost, then turn into a garage, and then the buggy is no longer a part of your life. In fact, the final coast level is the very beginning of storming the prison, so people would miss out on that.
@@quarreneverett4767 in his alyx video he also talked about how he couldn't aim because the theoretical head blocks the back of the gun, failing to understand that the problem could, in fact, be that he has no idea how to aim a gun and that you put the stock into your shoulder, not over it
4:58 And that folks is the best use of snow ever. Besides sledding! Also fantastic Gman intro sir! You reminded me why I liked this game, I guess. Or at least Gman talking
The vehicle sections and the movement gave me my first motion sickness experience. I think it's because of your body not feeling the acceleration despite how fast you move. I had to play this mod sitting down to stop the motion sickness and I'd recommend everyone do this if they're feeling motion sick from any vr game.
9:00 I had this problem with the 7 Days to die VR mod. I found you can decrease the grip sensitivity in the steam Vr settings. Took about an hour to figure out because when editing the grip sensitivity in input settings there were 2 tabs and the default tab did nothing , but the other tab (I forget what it was called) was the one that worked.
I feel it more likely that the dev team did most of their testing either with something other than the Valve Index, that or spent too little time testing the potential issues with grab sensitivity. The issue with the index is that the finger sensors can be pretty...sensitive, and even in many other VR games with grabbing mechanics I find myself being an accidental klepto simply because a couple fingers contacting the sensor can be registered as a grab whether you want it to or not.
@@Fenriswaffle On the contrary, I spent almost all my development time *with* the Index. The thing is, though, this aspect, like many things control-related, is extremely subjective. I never pick up anything on accident, so depending on how you hold or use the Index controllers, this is not a universal issue. I did experiment with increasing the threshold, but found that I don't like it - it's fine for grabbing stuff in the world, but it made grabbing ammo from your back much less reliable for me. In the end, the option to adjust the threshold to your own liking is available to everyone through SteamVR bindings.
@@fholger Well don't I look like the fool now, good to know! That is entirely fair and likewise I've found it comes down to how you grip or hold the controller. Overall it seems like a lot of Upisnotjump's gripes came down to items resolvable through settings so its a bit odd that they didn't make mention of it in the video. All overall minor though considering, great stuff!
Fantastic mod better than most of my VR games. I finished it the other day and it was even better than the first time I played it 25 odd years ago. great review dude. You always give me lots of laughs. cheers mate.
I had an Oculus DK2 way back in the day. Trying HL2VR was the most intensely uncomfortable VR experience I’ve had to this day. But also incredibly compelling.
Do note that the HL2VR he's talking about here is incredibly different from the one back in the DK2 days. This came out very, VERY recently. Not to mention that headsets are far more advanced these days.
@@LARVideos Oh, definitely! I probably should have made that more clear. Weirdly... I believe that old DK2 HL2VR option was made by Valve, which is even funnier.
I remember that old mod. I lasted about 13 seconds in my dk2 before feeling nausea because of the way the movement accelerated! Looks like the vehicle sections are still 'challenging' to the VR legs in this new one. I've played the first part in wireless streamed quest 2. (You have a grip button rather than the indexs touch sensor.) It still stands up. There are even mods you can apply to change it up.
@@CorporateZombi Ha! Yeah, I managed to get to the part where you teleport out of the first lab before I couldn't take it anymore. @@Helperbot-2000 point still stands, its the same textures and sound effects from the first game
@@Helperbot-2000 I thought they reused the map from HLSource?

Coloured hair gives +5 score in any game. Good move.

Hey man, heads up. Established titles is a massive scam.
I wonder when/if he's going to remove Established Titles from the vid and make an apology vid, it's been over a month
@@reeceyb505 Why would he?
It's a gag gift that is misleading, and is thus pretty shitty.
But why does he personally need to apologize for being sponsored by them? It's a sponsorship, sponsors drop people, and the buyer can beware plenty. If they needed to hear it from a specific youtube video and cannot read all the comments saying it....
@@FFKonoko
I don't think he necessarily owes one but it's telling how many people endorsed it without doing the bare minimum of research.

I've been playing VR a LOT over the last couple of years, so I guess I'm fortunate that I was able to play through the vehicle sections without issue.
dude your vids are like the only ones I actually have to pause my games for and pay full attention to the vid.. thank you for the top notch entertainment mate!!
Now I wanna see him and Emma do the Team Rocket intro.
He looks a evil villan with that dyed hair.
I love it
Mr. Jump, you should do the other VR mods by Dr. Beef. He's done: Quake 1, 2 and 3; Doom 1, 2 and even Doom 3 VR for Quest; Half-Life 1 and 2; Return to Castle Wolfenstein; Jedi Knight; and of course Bendy VR. If nothing else, definitely do the Doom 3 VR mod for the Quest. It is amazing and terrifying.
I never heard of Bendy until your comment but holy crap that looks fun. Thanks!

To achieve that level of pinch...
How big are your hands!
'Valheim VR is an Absolute Nightmare' when?
Also, great video! I've enjoyed playing HL2VR since its launch, and I'm extremely excited to see what modders will do with its source code.
Awesome video, but please don't promote Established Titles, they're a known scam. Don't take my word for it, just search for Scott Shafer's video titled "Established Titles Scam" to know about that scam. Cheers!
The UA-camr Legal Eagle says your sponsored segment is a scam - beware! (Loved your video and content nonetheless!)
Keep at it, you're doing it great as always!
hope youre doing alright

Reloading or holding a gun with two hands in vr makes sense and is very fun to do. It has to exist in vr fps games.
10:40 You purchased a saw blade to use as a prop and hold it while wearing something covering your eyes. Bravo! 🤣😂 You've earned a subscriber for risking your health.
7:00 the idea of the mod is making you feeling like gordon freeman, and that also implicates having to reload realistically
I thought the Established Titles thing ended up being a scam?
He appeared right in front of my and scared the shit of me 😂.
18:21 I can just imagine him bringing Martha out of his car boot with his wife in the door, and he says “You don’t wanna know”
Nah, it's a prop from long ago, where he wanted a single leg, but realized that he can't buy just one leg, he has to buy the whole mannequin. Watch his other videos too, he's good. You'll eventually find the one.
I almost had to pick the forks up when he started talking smack on the Beatles. The videos good, though so you’ll make it this time, @UpIsNotJump
It's good to see that they are new people on the team, Rick Sanchez had some real good criticism.

well, the only reason the vehicle section feel bad is the constant turning and the bouncy, playful nature of the physics. this is why player movement is usually done with snap turn, but then again, snap turning with a hoverboat would be kinda shitty so, i'm not sure what could be done to make it better
16:28 If Jump's organs look anything like that, then yeah; I'd say we *do* have different organs than him~
10:16 Well, at least the Combine care about the Earth
d2_prison_01 is indeed after the buggy section, but not where it ends, which would mean you would miss out on a few levels. d2_coast_10 is when the buggy section actually ends. There's a tiny bit of driving at the very beginning, but it's like 1 or 2 turns to the outpost, then turn into a garage, and then the buggy is no longer a part of your life.
In fact, the final coast level is the very beginning of storming the prison, so people would miss out on that.
I have ocluos touch controller witch requiers a full button press to actually grab things. So I don't have the grabbing issue. XD
Great video as always but you may want to do some digging on the sponsor.
Gotta love how he calls Boneworks bad while showing footage of him failing to pry the boards off a door using the wrong end of the hammer
In comparison to him smashing the boards off an empty doorway with a crowbar
Thats a pretty good point :)
@@quarreneverett4767 in his alyx video he also talked about how he couldn't aim because the theoretical head blocks the back of the gun, failing to understand that the problem could, in fact, be that he has no idea how to aim a gun and that you put the stock into your shoulder, not over it

I played the mod when it first launched. Definitely had some issues. After watching this I feel the need to try it again, even with the criticism.
Great video i might try HL2VR again. Ah bro bad news Established Titles was found to be a scam i heard.
The vehicle sections and the movement gave me my first motion sickness experience. I think it's because of your body not feeling the acceleration despite how fast you move. I had to play this mod sitting down to stop the motion sickness and I'd recommend everyone do this if they're feeling motion sick from any vr game.
The vehicle sections were what made me quit playing the original to be honest. Can't imagine how annoying it must be in VR.
I went around it by sitting down when I enter a vehicle.
Wish you could skip them yeah, most of us have played the game.
At 10:03, “POV: you’re a drunk frat guy at a party with women”
2:34 as someone who has known abes's odessy and half-life since I was 8 years old I've actually never thought of that holy shit but you're right!
Lord Sid... that brought a tear to my eye, a nice tribute indeed.
Y'all are super cool. Love the hair and the video. Thanks for another wonderful bout of laughs.
I'm wondering if the object grabbing was further embedded into the coding than the modders could or wanted mess with.
I can that on my Rift S, didn’t have the grabbing issues, that requires pressing a specific grab button lol
Even though it felt super unpleasant, it was the first time a VR game started crossing that line of my brain remembering it as something I actually went through. Very surreal, very cool.
Cant lie, your Gman mannerisms are perfect
hey, just so you know, established titles is actually a scam. the scottish government has directly stated that property rights and transference do not work like that, and speaking as a scot it's maybe the worst thing on the internet (shy of Scots wikipedia)
