- This is a video about putting a new handle in our old silage fork. I can’t believe what I did! I broke a tune off with a poorly placed swing of the hammer!
Watch us make this silage with a wood chipper! Very unusual method that works great!

Oh dang that sucked but at least it still works . That would be my kinda luck as well . I;m glad to see the cows eating the silage now . Thanks for sharing !
Yes they really love it now!!
Thank you so much for putting together such a Great video together I love the music used in the background to add some excitement to the video thank you so much hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy
Thanks so much Sandy!
I see you drive fast and you like it!🤪You did a great job with the fork even if you broke a little .... I really like how your children grew up, I think you are very proud of them! 👏😎I wish you a wonderful and easy day!😊
Thank you Alina! Yes my horses like to run fast!😂🤣😂. My boys are growing fast..... maybe because of how they eat😂😂😂 I am very happy to be their daddy!!!!
@@McGieHomesteadAdventures You're right, you're lucky to be their father 😁😁😁But they're lucky to have you too .... A little crazy 😂🤣😂a hardworking man!🤭😅😂I know you don't mind because you're a good McGie man!😎
@@MariaMaria-ff7ux I cannot find a way to disagree with that!😂🤣😂
@@McGieHomesteadAdventures Thank you so much McGie! 😂🤣😂🤪
Cool 😎 beans! Glad to see they're enjoying it!
Thanks so much! They definitely are becoming addicted! It must be corn flavored coffee with a touch of THC😂🤣😂
@@McGieHomesteadAdventures 😆 🤣 😂
Glad those cattle are eating it now.could probably get that tine welded back on. Might lose a bit of tempering in it, but with that many tines alongside it, it should be fine. Best wishes Brother
Thanks brother...... I’m having similar thoughts.
Great video as always ! I'm glad they like it that's great
Thanks bud!
Oh no. Well it gives it character.
Yes indeed!😂🤣😂
9 outta 10 ain't bad.☺️Blessings
😂🤣😂. Thanks I think so too 😂🤣😂
Man! I was hangin' on through the bends in the road!! :-)
😂🤣😂. We have a lot of roads like that.😂🤣😂. They don’t know what a straight road is here!🤣😂🤣
@@McGieHomesteadAdventures Same here. They are old horse or cow paths, or were built to get around mountains, ledge, or swamps.
that is super cool to save that fork
Thanks! I’m gonna try to fix it again now😂🤣😂
I think we should file some barbs on that thing and use it for a frog gig!!! :-)
Dude!!!!!!🎯 💯❗️
Breaking that tine was a real bummer, but then again, if a tool is used, these things happen. You could always get a nickel welding rod and repair it, I just know you have a welder.
I don’t! I’m a wood working man..... never fooled with metel...... except roofing. I’ll se what I can do.😉
Good work. Handles have to be replaced from time to time, right?
Yes and sometimes the heads!😂
Next time heat the fork up, where it goes in to the wood...Push the hot fork, into the wood...Knife makers have been doing this for decades...
Wow great idea! Thanks bud!
Dang it, I could see it coming, that old cast-iron breaks easy, get it good and hot, use brass welding rod, stick it in sand and let it cool down slow
Brass, eh? We always used nickel. Something new.
@@stevew6138 yes sir, done it for years... acetylene welding using brass rod and some flux, the trick is cooling it down slow, hence putting it in sand🤠👍I'm sure you will find a video on that
@@CampDogOutdoors I was a stick and mig guy. We use a torch to both heat it up and slow down the cooling. I'll try brass, I never did like nickel, but that's what we had in the plant where I worked. Anywho, thanx and take care Friend.
Very interesting! I have no welding tools or experience. I’ll see what I can do 😉
That’s the problem with spring steel resists bending but still brittle. If it works it works ain’t gotta be pretty it’s gotta function.
That’s right brother! It definitely gets the job done!!!
Micah that's great that the Cows turned out liking the Silage. Maybe they were just full ... Lol
Can you weld the tine back on ? It is a shame that it broke, I'm glad that you were able to fix the handle.
Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe.
May God continue to bless you and your family.
Thanks Margie! The time is cast iron which is not the best material to weld. I have an idea though....... be watching 👀😜
@@McGieHomesteadAdventures
Looking forward to seeing your solution ! God bless
Getting rid of the junk? It's a silage fork, not a junk fork. Get a grip, McGie!😄
This is a very talented fork!!! Multi-fork!!!!
Oops that’s good 👊
😂🤣😂
I knew them picking cows would start eating the silage soon.
Absolutely! Now they’re addicts 😂
2:30 oh sh*t😯
It was rather startling!😂😂😂
@@McGieHomesteadAdventures bet it was 😅😂😂
I got car sick at the beginning of this video! Who taught you how to drive!?!?
😂🤣😂. I did that for you!😂🤣😂
I had to puke and lay down!
Oops! Guess I overcooked the video speed! I wasn’t really driving that fast 🤓😜🤷♂️
I hope Joel was buckled up! Looked to me like you were training for NASCAR!
😂🤣😂 I’m no Dale Earnhardt!
OOPS-A-DAISY! SHAME IT BROKE BUT WASTE NOT WANT NOT RIGHT? FIX HER UP AND CARRY ON MOVING THAT SILAGE TO THEM HUNGRY COWS! SO HAPPY TO SEE THEM EATING IT UP NOW
Thanks Jo! They really do like it now! It was an acquired taste!😂🤣😂
@@McGieHomesteadAdventures HA 🤣🤣I GUESS SO EH? THEY WILL SOON EAT IT WHEN THEY GET HUNGRY ENOUGH LOL
Are the pig eating it?
We stopped feeding it to the pigs because the cows decided to become addicted to it!😂
You WONT be putting a handle in anything of mine.
How embarrassing!😂😂😂Awesome thanks!😂😅
