I know that it would be cowardly of me to beat up an injured guy. So I already healed you up. You should be completely fixed now, can you move your arms? Noe that your all healed up I can beat the shit out of you without it being a coward. DORARARARARARARARARARARARA
I think it's perfect that Kira doesn't die to Josuke, it's in character. Josuke would rather leave someone to rot in an object prison then face the idea of killing them.
I still find it interesting that Josuke has not killed an enemy except for the two rats that had the sniper stand when Jotaro took him to go hunting to practice ranged combat.
would also say the same with Jonathan in Eyes of Heaven game. People say he should be the one who has to finish Dio but it would really be out of character as he still cares so Jotaro being the main guy there fits
@@quiteabizarreone6441 technically Johnathan have killed the dead that was brought back to life like tarkus the exception is jack the ripper but i dint concider jack a human in the first place.
I mean, technically he killed angelo? I mean yes he is still alive because he was turned in to a rock, but it is still probably a fate worse than death, that is unless you are Diavolo who is dying in a loop
Josuke will always be my favorite Jojo due to how much of a chill/friendly guy. Like Araki said he’s the kinda guy you’d wanna be friends with. I don’t mind the way Part 4 handled having several main characters bc it helped with the Town Setting but I can agree that letting Joarto get the last hit on Kira was kinda disappointing but He did have a great fight against Kira. Also Rip to the legend Billy Kametz for his Great voice As Josuke in the English Dub
I kinda like Jotaro hitting Kira last, Jotaros always the Hero type no matter where he is. Josukes a hero too but hes more of a bro while Jotaro literally hunts a dude across the globe. Him to get the final hit on Kira doesn't diminish Josuke's hype for me at all. Just another consequence of timestop.
Josuke being underutilized when compared to previous JoJo’s felt more like a concession with Araki’s ever evolving writing. As you go through each part of JoJo numerically, you start to see the protagonists have less time in the spotlight than the one before them. That’s because they had to share it more with that part’s cast of characters. Part 4 felt like an experiment in this style.
I actually agree with like in part 5 mista and bruno out shined the hell out of giorno like if I'm being honest to me the only memorable things I got from giorno was the 7 page muda and ger and my brain kinda throws the rest out the window
@@epicnessoflegends Giorno is definitely meant to be more of a shining beacon/guide to Bucciarati’s group, as he plays a support role in most fights after joining
Agreed. Speedwagon was just Jonathan's cheerleader. Will Zeppeli taught Jonathan the basics of Hamon and died. Caesar and Lisa Lisa trained longer than Joseph in Hamon but couldn't defeat at least one Pillar Man each. Stardust Crusaders did a better job than Parts 1 and 2, but it still felt like Jotaro was the guy who carried the team most of the time. What I like about Part 4 is that there was no great evil to defeat until the third act. It was everyday scenarios where people used their Stands in their lives to make them easier. While it's true that I wanted Josuke to be the one to off Kira or someone different from Jotaro, he doesn't live in Morioh, so it doesn't have a great impact on the Narrative of Part 4, I'm content with the ending.
@@mrmwm5446 i meant more that there was no mention of him after pt 5 when realistically the gang woulda gotten in contact with the speedwagon foundation or something because they had polnerev as a member
Idk I think jolyne did some pretty inventive stuff. But yeah when I first watched part 4 I was constantly in that phase of "oh that's neat". I remember my jaw dropping when he destroyed and rebuilt the motorcycle. Also the punching a hole into someone on the first episode was amazing.
When discussing Kira's actual death, you forgot to mention the fact that he wanted to stay unnoticed by the people around him, and ended up dying because the ambulance driver didn't notice him.
Yeah but I also kind of add a semi ironic thing the ambulance driver didn’t notice him but a lot of people still gathered around and noticed his death so I guess ironically he was both noticed and unnoticed at the same time
If you were to talk about Yukako Yamagishi's redemption, I do have a positive to say: She at least makes the change to put Koichi's wants and needs before her own, respects his space and boundaries, and doesn't force things. Before she was the total opposite. She realized what didn't work and made the conscious decision to change for the better. Now, I will agree that Koichi shouldn't have gotten with her because of what she did to him.
I don't mind that Yukako and Koichi hook up, but I hate the way they hook up. I remember when I first read the Cinderella arc, it came across like Yukako brainwashed Koichi into loving her and then... that was it.
@@nuibaba280 yeah, but the thing is that episode doesn't elaborate on WHY he loves her after all. from our perspective, she traumised koichi, tried to brainwash him, and now he loves her. there's no reason why he would, and while I do love their relationship from that point on, I have to admit that it's beginning felt undercooked.
Its kinda weird we never see that passione connected with the speedwagon foundation or something since polnerev was probably with them up to the events of stone ocean. I guess they never connected after giorno became a mob boss 🤷♂️
“No matter how careful you try to be or how successful you think you are, there will always be an ambulance to kill you” is gonna be my yearbook quote. Thank you for that
I love Josuke because he has the second most fun personality of the Jojos(behind his dad) and has by several miles the best MC stand. He comes off as a badass while also feeling like a teenager, something Jotaro and Giorno failed at.
"Best" in what regard? Best suited for a main character? I can't really see Crazy Diamond exceeding Star Platinum or Gold Experience (Requiem) in any other measure, but I could see the argument made that it's the most fitting for a protagonist, being a healer/fixer and somewhat less outright powerful than Star Platinum...
Part 4, it was a group effort to bring down Kira. Josuke had to work with Hiyato and Okuyasu to lure out Kira from the shadows so others could help apprehend him.
@@rKhael53 Wrong. Josuke, Jotaro, Koichi and Okuyasu literally all went to Kira's house after the identity change. Not to mention after that they were all fighting off Stand Users created by Yoshihiro Kira that were trying to kill the Morioh Warriors to stop them from investigating and finding Kira. Its just not shown on screen since it would be boring.
I feel like most of the problems related to josuke are related to how part 4 is structured, he is not the only main character in his part, and while he does grow, his growth happens in the early chapters to make way for the other main characters. It's less about josuke being done dirty, and more about part 4 being really different compared to the other main universe parts.
Yeah Josuke main development happens in the first arc and ends with him promising to protect his town, then okuyasu’s development happens and he learns to be more independent then koichi’s development ends last with him gaining confidence in himself. Your right part 4 shares the main character spot with three characters.
True, it's kinda like how Jotaro was the leading Jojo for Stardust Crusaders, but his character arc was something that had mildly happened in other Parts more than Part 3 itself (the group dynamics, and some of Polneraff's character growth, took up more of the spotlight), and Jotaro doesn't really shine much directly until he's shown defeating another villain.
Honestly, Josuke getting so much development early on was awesome because Part 4 had the unfortunate task of carrying two Jojos in the same part and not have one of them be super old. In my experience this made Josuke a more enjoyable Jojo than his predecessor early on which helped make Part 4 easier to breeze through during the "weaker" half.
I think the problem applies even more to Giorno, it's just highlighted by how much he's built up at the very start and then instantly fades once he joins passione. Very much on the side until the very end, and even then, spoiler Bruno and Polnereff play a much bigger role in the final battle until the very last moment
Tbh, Giorno is already a completed character tbh. The only time that he developed in the part, other than GER, is when he found out he can "heal" people. I think part 5 is basically just Araki showcasing Giorno and how he is the "day" that woke up the Sleeping Slaves by being the guy that kickstarted Bruno and Bucci Gang's motivation.
I think Giorno works well the way he is. Giorno is basically Jesus (son of god and fighting the devil), he starts off the story already at the end point of his character arc and only really only is there to guide his group to their future. That's why he plays support in most the fights and even if he isn't he still usually give important info or helps plan before the fight. Giorno isn't meant to be the same type of main character the other Jojo's are and leaves that role to the rest of his team (mainly Bruno, which is why he's my favorite character).
I think people do forget that the fight with Kira was a team effort. Every major character contributed, weakening him one by one until the end. It just so happened that Jotaro dealt the final blow. I'm not defending this, but I think people do fixate a little too much on that aspect instead of the bigger picture. The main players in the city of Morioh coming together to defeat the major threat is thematically appropriate for the kind of story part 4 was going for and I do like it when the main character isn't the one to defeat the villain People also forget that, before part 6, it's usually not the main character in Jojo that gets the most development. Part 1 had very little development for any character except Speedwagon I guess... Part 2 had Caesar, it was Polnareff in 3, Rohan/Koichi in 4 and Part 5 focused more on character exploration (I haven't read parts 7 or 8 yet)
@@CyanideOwl He did. There's a fun inversion of plot armour in part 4. The villain is defined by how ungodly lucky he is. It makes sense that he meets his demise the one moment he got "unlucky"
@@astralman and yet pucci lost everything by a very small mistake of """"""giving""""""" the disk to emporio, jojo has alot of bs (aka fate BS), literally, he was the one who had the most chance to win against Jolyne Crew
@@astralman I completely understand “fate” is the factor in a lot of the events that occur in jojo in general, but this is a hypothetical instance, where made in heaven is created, and the only real difference being that the part 4 gang is also there, what we’re saying is that the part 4 crew would be able to take out him easy in these circumstances. In the same way Emporio used pucci in sped up time to cripple him with weather report, it’s easy to say that the increased and multiplied speed of gravity toward MIH pucci would most likely be able to instantly take care of pucci, and if not, okuyasu would be able to finish the job, seeing as the only thing defending him would be his incredible speed, which happens to be crippling him in that very moment
I mean not everything. I think Josuke would be a perfect mentor for Jolyne IMO (due to being very similar) and I could see him diying against WS or something and giving Jolyne a good developmental ark.
Literally! Thank you for this man! Josuke deserved so much better and he's definitely my fave Joestar of all time, also RIP to the legend Billy Kametz, he really did amazing with Josuke's dub voice and he will be greatly missed
In regards to Josuke's hair thing going away after Rohan, I feel that's because the whole flashback was essentially a Cerebus Retcon-initially, the hair thing could tend to be a gag here and there early on, cause look at this bozo with his ridiculous pompadour, but once you really get into how and why he's so protective of his signature hairdo and why he flies off the handle when it's insulted, it can kinda be hard to see it made fun of. In regards to Yukako, I expect her to be in that redemption video since yeah, she practically got zilch in the grand scheme of things.
I definitely see why this is a valid take away, I don't think he's in the part enough, but I almost think its in Araki's style of making group centered stories that makes it so the main character is only every a piece of the group and nit centre stage, which I think works well. I think about part 3 and 5 especially to this degree as both have their jojo not be in the spotlight as much to compensate for the unit. Jotaro and Giorno are usally in the background unless during key fights while characters like Joseph and Bruno are at the helm, with the same if not more motivation for the Jojo of the part. In short, I think Josuke's lack of screentime is just a symptom of the writing focusing on more than one player. Koichi is definitely as much a protagonist as Josuke and there's argument to say Rohan also becomes a main protagonist because of his focus and motivation post Kira introduction and is ther with Jotaro to do the heavy lifting. This all culminates during Bites The Dust, when Rohan is at the centre directly trying to find Kira, Josuke takes what he learned from Jotaro to fight Kira, and through Koichi's developed ability over the full part, only then is the stage set for Kira's demise. I think that for what was trying to be done he fufilled his role as a key character but he wasn't the sole main character
honestly, I'd prefer a story involving many characters as their own protagonists and not just one, I know Jotaro is the JOJO GOAT but he tends to carry the plot too much in parts 3, 4 and even 6. (except 5 , he only cameoed in it.) its a nice change of pace for a series so 'BIZARRE' (hehe, get it?) don't you think?
To me, the lack of focus on Josuke's character kinda ties into the whole underlying message of P4: it's not Josuke that fights the bad guy, but the entire town trying to get rid of the disease that is Yoshikage Kira. Josuke being a JoJo only name-wise and not mc-wise is a good way of showing that, too. It's also very in character for him to not be in the spotlight, since as a down to earth normal teenager all he really wants in life is yummy food and fun videogames. Not saying that was intentional, but it works perfectly in my book
Joske always seemed like a small town superman. Always saw him as being around to help the other characters issues. He already knows who he is from episode one, and he knows who he wants to be from the beginning. The rest of the series seemed to be him applying that idea to his every day life.
Josuke will always be one of my favourites, if not my favourite JoJo, from his dope personality, style and vibe, plus his stand power would be the one I want the most
A lot of what was found as an issue I found enjoyable because of the writing. This season feels relaxing at times and completely insane at others. It implements stands in everyday uses and regular human wants and uses the whole cast to do it. It has a Saturday morning cartoon vibe to it but is still current and engaging in episodes that don’t move the plot. It’s refreshing to see a jojo so happy go lucky yet still as compelling. I’m waiting for another season like this one!
I really is more on how you want your shows. I loved the slice of life take, I love seeing stand users with everyday lives and while many start out using it for bad learn how to use it in a postive way rather than focusing them on majority villains who die. It's nice getting to see most of the characters manage to live and not have a death crazy season for allies and minor antagonists while still keeping it overall compelling and having a very dark undertone with Kira-- managing to balance a much different genre of sorts with the standard jjba style. But if people like jjba for the horror, for the violence and direct action of good vs bad/moral vs immoral then people aren't going to enjoy it despite the writing and more unique take on what it means to live in this world with a stand.
Josuke is the perfect protagonist in Parts 1-6 because he’s everything that came before but as one character that always will work in the setting and plot of Morioh.
I believe the reason why they didn't use Yuya sense of smell cause at that point in the story Rohan got a new lead on Kira's new identity and was going to investigate the next day.
Main character spoiler for part 8 Who do you think would win a fight, Josuke or Josuke? Because Josuke is very creative with his ability. Especially with what he did at the end of his part. But Josuke is very creative with his ability. Especially with what he did at the end of his part.
You must also take into account on whether Kira could beat Kira, since Josuke had an advantage on Kira, and Kira might be able to go toe to toe with Kira, Josuke could adapt to Josuke’s attacks quickly.
He's my favorite after Jolyne. I like to argue how the Bites the Dust tussle is my favorite fight of the first 5 Parts of JoJo. Josuke interpolates just about everything he learned about Crazy D throughout Part 4 into that fight - right down to a panel from the manga version of the Transmission Tower arc, "I can't fix back this guy's (wet, slippery) blood that's already down here!" From that line we are led to potentially consider/infer, like, "huh...so, I wonder what else he can do with 'blood' after he got his own both on & in the shoulder of Kira?" which leads into his own dried-dead-blood-bending Crazy Diamond healing exploit for massive damage - which essentially won his portion of the fight (using the gun-firing power of Crazy D's flick - which he learned to do in the Ratt arc). &, just as much, I find an even stronger case insofar as Hayato's mother, Shinobu, very-suddenly falling for Kira perhaps due to the Cinderella Stand's lingering effect it may have had on him. His good luck/fate really dictated those events for him, and while he thought Hayato did everything for him - he only further counteracted his luck by being a creepy kid maybe almost as much as Kira was a creepy dude.
I wouldn't say Hayato is as creepy as Kira cause Kira is just on a whole other level. If I could give a theory, I would say both Shinobu's infatuation and Hayato spying on them are Cinderella Stand's lingering effect since because of those trait from them that let the others to find Kira. Kinda like fate send him into the worst case scenario for someone to discover his true identity
it's a slice of life murder mystery, and that's why it is one of my top three. Steel Ball Run is the matured end product of all that came before. It's Hugo Pratt level's of incredible journeying through the back alleys of a time and places.
Jotaro overshadowed bruh didn't watch pt3 Part 3 was about Stardust crusaders unlike other parts it was off 5 teams i would say everyone had their own screen time but the one who controlled the story in pt3 was jotaro Sure iggy, polnareff, kakyoin , joesph, avdol were there But they couldn't overshadow jotaro
Josuke isn’t the only one who feels like a side character in his own story. In part 3 Polnareff gets far more character development and is in more fights than Jotaro, similar with Bruno in part 5 who gets much more character development than Giorno.
I think it makes sense for Josuke to be "side lined" in this part, since it's in direct contrast to Kira. Kira thinks the world is all about himself, and that the world is his playground to do whatever he wants with and he only thinks about himself, while being a rather isolated person. Meanwhile, Joskue's stand can heal anyone, but himself since he puts others before himself and the stand reflects that, and unlike Kira who only thinks/acts on his own, Joskue always works best when he is part of a team.
You think its ironic that Josuke can't use his healing ability on himself, the thing you want happening to yourself, but Kira can blow up parts of his own body, the kind of thing you don't want happening to yourself.
Honestly i would think josuke after part 4 would go on as a doctor in morioh, helping those in need, while defending the town from trouble. In a way still being similar with kira as he would helping instead of killing. Plus getting to help out with koichi as a part of the speedwagon foundation too would be nice
I find that since part four is a slice of life type show having josuke be a small part instead of shoving him in more situations is fine ,since most villians are tackled as a team. It would be less fitting for josuke to do most of the work instead of it being a team effort in the final fight.
Pucci: IM GOING TO ATAIN HEAVEN Josuke: hits window making it all come back together pulling the window frame puccis floating in back to the ground, or should i say, pulling it into a CRAZY BEATDOWN!!!*
I think the biggest issue is both Kira and Josuke are too passive as protagonists. While reactive protagonist is aren’t bad, the need a proactive force constantly or they tend to just chill. Goku for example is pretty reactive, but that’s fine because everyone wants to kill him. The issue with all of this is that Kira also just sits there. So you have the gang and Kira’s dad setting up all these plans and hunting the other down while our main two just kinda… sit there. It’s why I think the first half of part 4 is the better story for Josuke because Akira is actively hunting Josuke down and engaging with him
When I watched Part 4 for the first time I immediately loved Jouske. He’s a stand up guy who’ll do anything to protect the ones he loves most, a goofy teenager as well. That’s also why I love Gentaro Kisaragi from Kamen Rider Fourze, two dudes who’d be amazing friends to have around
Here is one very interesting fact about Jojo part 4. The story of it had several things removed when the manga was being written, in fact proibbly of all parts aside from 6 it had the most messy development as stuff was changed or removed a LOT. One of these was deepening the dynamic of Josuke and Kira. Where it was going to be reavealed that Kira had an extremly abusive and negected childhood, where his father was away most of the time and his mother often abused him physically, resulting in his fixation on womens hands. As well as explaining why his father was so obessed with helping Kira and ignoring his serial killer nature. He could only see the child he wasn't there for when he looked at him and it was guilt that made him do as much as he did to try to help Kira. Josuke was suppoused to learn this and actually feel sorry for Kira and realize it's not enteirly his own fault he is the way he is, but still be resolved to stop him. This is just one example of stuff Araki changed/took out of part 4's original planned story. No doubt this helped contrubite to Josuke not being the protagonist he could of been as he simply didn't have all the scenes he could of.
Something else that should be mentioned is that, compared to the other Jojos in the first universe, Josuke is arguably the only Jojo who's life is more consistently grounded compared to the other Jojos, which is probably part of why there's not as much focus on him directly all the time. Unlike the other Jojos that have to be constantly on their toes to survive throughout their designated Parts, Jotaro lives life as a normal teenager that goes to school and deals with semi-normal teenage things. Yeah, he has to fight for his life against Red Hot Chili Pepper, some rats with Stands, and Yoshikage Kira, but outside of that one eventful summer that makes up Part 4, his life is the most laid-back slice-of-life levels of calm out of all the other Joestars in the first universe. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I never felt like the diverse background and supporting characters took anything away from josuke soley, because at the end of the day part 4 was truly about the small town rather than josuke himself Rohan Okuyasu, koichi all of them go through their own trials and tribulations while josuke for the most part really didn’t besides Angelo. His gramps locked Angelo away so even if it wasn’t Josuke’s carelessness that caused his death he would’ve died either way to him. Okuyasu’s bro gave chili pepper his powers and that returned to bite him in the ass and essentially he was forced to clean up his brother’s mess and come into his own as a person and now head of the household. Compared to the others araki helped fleshed out the town itself with the supporting characters while essentially keeping Josuke static which in my opinion was a good thing
Cause that made josuke the “ROCK” of the town of morioh. Koichi and Rohan both had their own crazy adventures separately and individually, when kidnapped by yukkako koichi experienced his own character growth but was also thinking “Holy crap I need josuke” Rohan vs highway star he was dependent and put his faith in josuke to save him, even in the manga when yukkako came around looking for koichi he told her “I will fight you if you try to make trouble for him again “ despite not being the main focus of the many adventures in the part josuke is the rock for many of these characters when shit hits the fan and that’s because josuke is Morioh itself
Morioh never changes. It’s still home to bizarre stand users, strange phenomenons and murders, and I akin josuke to morioh. He never truly grows like koichi but will fight to keep morioh the same place it’s always been. Just with a few less killers and that brings up Kira & josuke. Josuke had a less proactive role in the search for kira but was the linchpin in helping “capture” kira as kira himself saw josuke as a more dangerous threat then Jotaro cause of their naturally opposing abilities and because josuke embodiment morioh or at least half of morioh. The other half is filled up by the supporting cast in fleshing out the town while josuke embodies it. A strange but kind young man who fights for the right thing to protect lives vs kira a soulless killer who wants to live among the people who he wouldn’t hesitate or loose sleep over if he took their lives. Jotaro is a visitor, eventually he would have to live but his arrival in morioh and him meeting josuke created a chain reaction where everyone who josuke met had an effect and brought them together and it passed on from person to person. His bravery and kindness spread through and to them turning enemies into friends either directly or indirectly
You know, it is pretty weird that Josuke suffers from the same problem as Jotaro and Giorno in that he, most of the time, doesn't feel like the protagonist of his own story, considering that part 4 was more story-focused and had a smaller cast of characters than parts 3 and 5. Also, in regards to Josuke not defeating Kira, i think it could've been worse. Like, Kira could've accidentally erupted a volcano and got sent into space, or it migh've turned out that Josuke and Kira's stands are the same type, or character from another part might've come out of nothere and given Josuke a convenient mcguffin to defeat the final villain. And don't forget that not only Jolyne wasn't the one who defeated Pucci, she also never even had a chance to properly beat the shit out of him before dying along with her father, who she has spent the entire part 6 trying to save, and all of her friends. In that regard, Josuke definitely didn't get the worst deal.
Great video overall Kamen, per usual! Though from my own perspective, the main reason I personally don’t really agree with the whole “Josuke being overshadowed” thing (even if I can still understand and respect your perspective) is because DiU, for better or worse, is a vast departure from the more MC-centric parts in 1-3. Those stories basically revolved around the Joestars and their connection to Dio and the Phantom Mask, and so them being in the forefront made plenty of sense. But for part 4, while Josuke is the protagonist, he isn’t the main character. Instead, *everyone* is, because DiU focuses more on the community aspect and all the people who live in this crazy, noisy, bizarre town, instead of just a select group of people like in the other parts. This’s why we’ll have some episodes revolving around Koichi, Rohan and even Yukako instead of solely following Josuke’s perspective, since he isn’t the driving force of the story, but just one of its many major players. And even if this might make Josuke feel sidelined or underdeveloped as a result, I still feel like he gets enough screentime and focus to have his personality and character shine…like a diamond. So basically, part 4 has no single main character since it follows everyone in Morioh, as well as their goals, aspirations and relationship to eachother. It’s fine to dislike this aspect, sure, but I find it to be one of the many unique ways that part 4 sets itself apart from its predecessors. I also never really agreed with the perspective that Josuke didn’t defeat Kira simply due to not landing the final blow, since the last fight against him was meant to be a team effort. Josuke fought off Kira before anyone else arrived, and mortally wounded him to the point where he had to use Stray Cat to bail himself out. Then Okuyasu saves Josuke by using his stand to take away Stray Cat, and then once Kira was left with no other options, he resorted to using Bites the Dust to loop time and was stopped from doing so by Koichi and Jotaro. Who had already fought him off once before in the Sheer Heart Attack arc, and so it was building off of their teamwork already established earlier in the series. It’s similar to the ending of part 6, where even if Jolyne isn’t the one to defeat Pucci, both her and everyone else still worked towards defeating him until his inevitable demise. Again though, I can certainly see where you’re from, but just providing an alternate perspective from someone who’s read and watched part 4 extensively due to being one of my favorite Jojo parts. And always feel like it gets majorly misunderstood due to people trying to look at it from the lens of the other parts, rather than what Araki intended the part to be on its own terms.
The only Jojo who was done dirty is Giorno lmao. Josuke is my favorite JoJo BY FAR. He’s the best of Joseph and Jotaro. He’s goofy but also stoics at times. Plus he let other characters shine.
I think it works we to have Josuke how he is. Jotaro isn't Joseph, so him filling a different role makes sense. Josuke also doesn't "pass on the torch" himself, it's Jotaro who passes it to Jolene. Jotaro was designed by Araki to be a fulfillment of Jonathan, a sort of perfect hero.
You know, now that I think about it, maybe the reason Josuke wasn’t the one to take down Kira was because of the ambulance death. Hirohiko Araki has a golden rule about Josuke never taking a human life, so he probably thought that if he had Josuke be the one to send Kira flying which led to his ambulance death then that would technically mean Josuke caused Kira’s death since he would be the reason he ended up in the ambulance’s way in the first place. Disliking that he gave it to Jotaro who we all know has no problem with executing such heinous individuals. Does that mean I and many others are okay with Josuke not getting the final hit in now? No way! But if that was Araki’s thoughts on the matter was then I can’t say I don’t see his reasoning.
i love crazy diamond, its has great strength and speed that might be even better then jotaros but it does not have the worlds power, instead its power is simply to heal or reverse things back into a diffrent state, which you would think would be just an extremely useful utility and support ability but he turns it into a weapon when fighting kira and other beings, he uses it in such creative ways that he makes the ability really strong yet the ability does not feel broken especially since he cant just heal himself, if josuke could heal himself the ability would probs be on the top 5 best stands because as long as he can live fron his injuries he can survive anything, it also just means that josuke is stronger in a group because he can keep his allies alive and it means josuke can actually work as a team with his friends rather then his team members just being tag alongs that dont offer much josuke will always be a favorite of mine hes the most relatable joestar out there and tries to be the best, its an utter shame he never gets mentioned beyond his own part
I feel like Josuke does Jotaro’s character archetype better, that being the rough punk teenager with a heart of gold. Jotaro’s too busy being a tactical muscly badass to show the heart of gold and actively insults his mother and friends to the point where it feels out of character when he cares about people. Josuke on the other hand, is a con-man, a hot head, and kind of a play boy. But we also see how much he cares about his grandpa, mom, and friends.
Josuke as a character is perfect! In the peaceful town of Morioh, just your average hoodlum. Just like Kira is just your average office worker. Although both of them have their morals and are quite the opposite, what they do share in common is that they just want to live their lives in peace, even thought they are blesses with unnatural abilities. I honestly love the fact that Josuke isn't actively searching for the bad guy, instead the danger comes to him and while it isn't he just goofs around with his friends.
I like to think of each JoJo as destiny’s answer to the circumstances. “The heroes would not have been able to rise to the occasion without jojo’s help”
Same. Part 4 is my favourite and Josuke is my favourite jojo as well. (I’m on part 6 now) I don’t know he just feels like a really good guy, someone who can be a really loyal friend who will do anything for you. He seems honest. And i like his pompadour ;) Part 4 for me is great because of the horror movie like atmospheres with tints of detective and thriller. A very powerful antagonist and well written side characters. But i like part 4 just a little bit more then any other part, because i love them all. They are so different in every way
I think the only other time I can remember them using Josuke's issue with reptiles was in Eye's of Heaven when they use Coco Jumbo to start traveling around through time.
Part 4 definitely decentralized it's JoJo for it's Slice of Life theme. It was definitely more focused on other characters. A Slice of Life lives and dies on its cast of characters. And Part 4 does have a good selection, I'll give it that. It's just unfortunate it came at the cost of Josuke's development.
Agree with 100% everything. Also creator saying Josuke his favorite while he hardly wrote Josuke as the main character in his own story. Instead his favorite was koichi. Like Josuke stood against kira and fight him and got impaled... Jotaro while Josuke impaled/bleeding to death Jotaro: "I'm proud of you Koichi" 🤡 Like it's obvious who really is the favorite in diamond 4,. Watching it expecting to see more Josuke focus.. Instead it side characters none stop....Not surprised considering seeing people hate writing for part 6, when he nuked his favorite Josuke from the story.. 🤡 even Koichi and Rohan where seen more after diamond... Cleary Josuke was not the favorite. writing exposes that truth.
The point of Kira being killed by the ambulance is symbolic and plays on the biggest overarching theme in Jojo which is the concept of fate. Kira got run over by the ambulance because no one noticed he was there. This is ironic because Kira’s biggest goal was to go unnoticed and live a quiet life. He got hit because no one noticed he was there. Also add extra irony where as a ghost he got dragged away by a bunch of HANDS. Double ironic.
Initially I wasn't a huge fan of Josuke, but after my recent rewatch of DiU he grew on me more. Hugely enjoyable protagonist who gets great interactions with all the cast, and his theme is so good! Definitely the JoJo I'd want to be friends with irl
i love josuke i think his season has the most beautiful art/is pure art the scene in the outro where he holds the houses - beautiful. i plan to get a tattoo of this scene
Recently I finally read part 7 and almost finished part 8 and I think Josuke part 8 is my new favourite jojo due to his motivation, how connected he his to the overall plot and I love his stand I kind of agree with the point that it's kind of disappointing that josuke didn't hit the final blow on Kira but I think it doesn't hurt the story that much and I love the final battle anyway
I've often joked that part 4 felt less like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and more like Koichi's Unusual Escapades a lot of the time, but I'm starting to genuinely consider the validity of that statement as of late.
Honestly, in spite of all the legitimate criticism of Josuke and Part 4, and the flair and polish of other parts - Part 4 will always be my favorite part and Josuke will always be my favorite Jojo. And the reason why is simple: Part 4 was exactly what I was looking for in a concept like Jojo’s Bizzare Adventures. I was introduced to the series when I was 14 through memes on Skype, and thought that JBA was an urban fantasy similar to Persona - meaning that the cast spent most of their time within one-to-three towns/cities. When I actually watched Jojo from Part 1, I was confused yet intrigued. By the end of Part 3 I had the sense that JBA may not have been the show for me (at least at the time, I love the series now), but I was going to give it one more Part to win me over; and Part 4 did just that. And even though I still have to catch up (I’m still on Part 7 of the manga at the time of this comment) I would say that JBA is my favorite anime/manga series regardless of its flaws, inconsistencies, and ‘duwangs’.
I think it would've been cool if in the final fight, Koichi weighs down Kira's hand, and then Josuke fused his hand to the ground so he couldn't use BTD. Gives him something to do lol.
Favorite JoJo, and yeah, I agree with a lot of this vid. I love part 4 since I'm such a sucker for small town/city mysteries with the supernatural or weird sprinkled in (especially when the three 3 act structure is used well). I've always wished we got to visit them again, and while Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak & JoJoLion, they were a Prequel and a different universe respectively. I would have loved a sequel set with the gang in maybe their college years, whether it be slice of life or a new threat, it be nice to see how the kid's with hearts of gold have grown.

I don’t mind the way Part 4 handled having several main characters bc it helped with the Town Setting but I can agree that letting Joarto get the last hit on Kira was kinda disappointing but He did have a great fight against Kira. I think every Jojo is great in its own way, that’s why it’s so difficult for me to find a favorite in all those JoJos
I always forget Billy voiced Josuke in the dub seriously rest in piece to that legend
Giorno fans: 🗿
By far one of the most creative JoJo's in terms of how they use their abilities. Shine on you crazy diamond.
Yeah, I was disappointed when Josuke(the one from Jojolion) barely used his unique power.(probably because it was too OP)
He was caught on the crosshair of childhood and stardom
I think Jolyne was more creative with her stand, Josuke is close second.

When discussing Kira's actual death, you forgot to mention the fact that he wanted to stay unnoticed by the people around him, and ended up dying because the ambulance driver didn't notice him.
Yeah but I also kind of add a semi ironic thing the ambulance driver didn’t notice him but a lot of people still gathered around and noticed his death so I guess ironically he was both noticed and unnoticed at the same time
He basically did here 12:03
If you were to talk about Yukako Yamagishi's redemption, I do have a positive to say: She at least makes the change to put Koichi's wants and needs before her own, respects his space and boundaries, and doesn't force things. Before she was the total opposite. She realized what didn't work and made the conscious decision to change for the better. Now, I will agree that Koichi shouldn't have gotten with her because of what she did to him.
Koichi forgives everyone so it's fine
I don't mind that Yukako and Koichi hook up, but I hate the way they hook up. I remember when I first read the Cinderella arc, it came across like Yukako brainwashed Koichi into loving her and then... that was it.

My ass. Rohan was the only one doing the investigation job, while the others just chilling 24/7.
@@rKhael53 facts
Hayato and Rohan were the only ones actively hunting down Kira
Very much on the side until the very end, and even then, spoiler
Bruno and Polnereff play a much bigger role in the final battle until the very last moment
I think Giorno is fine in part 5. Its meant to be a gang vs gang type plot. And Giorno has a supporting role type of stand for the most part.
Bruno was the true main character of Part 5 😂
I think Giorno works well the way he is. Giorno is basically Jesus (son of god and fighting the devil), he starts off the story already at the end point of his character arc and only really only is there to guide his group to their future. That's why he plays support in most the fights and even if he isn't he still usually give important info or helps plan before the fight. Giorno isn't meant to be the same type of main character the other Jojo's are and leaves that role to the rest of his team (mainly Bruno, which is why he's my favorite character).
giorno is carried by his design, badassery, and concept
I think people do forget that the fight with Kira was a team effort. Every major character contributed, weakening him one by one until the end. It just so happened that Jotaro dealt the final blow. I'm not defending this, but I think people do fixate a little too much on that aspect instead of the bigger picture. The main players in the city of Morioh coming together to defeat the major threat is thematically appropriate for the kind of story part 4 was going for and I do like it when the main character isn't the one to defeat the villain
People also forget that, before part 6, it's usually not the main character in Jojo that gets the most development. Part 1 had very little development for any character except Speedwagon I guess... Part 2 had Caesar, it was Polnareff in 3, Rohan/Koichi in 4 and Part 5 focused more on character exploration (I haven't read parts 7 or 8 yet)
I always saw that the town was the main character and Josuke was the anchor that brought them together

If josuke and crew were in part 6 it would just be more deaths added to the list
I swear Araki said this was the case in an interview but I’m not 100% sure
Oh my god, that Billy Kametz tribute...
Rest in piece Billy. We will never forget you.
Interesting video btw. I loved it.
Stage 4 colon cancer is awful.
Josuke was always my favorite jojo out of them all, you can't help but root for him. Rest in peace Billy and shine on you crazy diamond
Joske always seemed like a small town superman. Always saw him as being around to help the other characters issues. He already knows who he is from episode one, and he knows who he wants to be from the beginning. The rest of the series seemed to be him applying that idea to his every day life.
Josuke will always be one of my favourites, if not my favourite JoJo, from his dope personality, style and vibe, plus his stand power would be the one I want the most
I’d say Morioh as a whole is the main character and each member of the cast, their life and experiences is an important part of it.
Josuke role is a lot like his stand Crazy diamond in a way. He’s there to help others but it’s never about himself
DiU was amazing when I watched the anime and reading the manga made me love it even more.
I will forever miss Billy.
May he rest in peace.
Josuke is the perfect protagonist in Parts 1-6 because he’s everything that came before but as one character that always will work in the setting and plot of Morioh.
RIP Billy Kametz, the Josuke in English.
Thank you for the wonderful tribute to Billy at the end ❤
I believe the reason why they didn't use Yuya sense of smell cause at that point in the story Rohan got a new lead on Kira's new identity and was going to investigate the next day.

Who do you think would win a fight, Josuke or Josuke? Because Josuke is very creative with his ability. Especially with what he did at the end of his part. But Josuke is very creative with his ability. Especially with what he did at the end of his part.
You must also take into account on whether Kira could beat Kira, since Josuke had an advantage on Kira, and Kira might be able to go toe to toe with Kira, Josuke could adapt to Josuke’s attacks quickly.

Josuke 8 would definitely win
you can't just expect anyone to survive the Go beyond though
@@duykhangtran4406 get Josuke 4 close enough and go beyond will be harder to aim when Gappy is trying to avoid Crazy Diamond
I’m disappointed that Josuke never said now get out of here you crazy noisy bizarre clown!

Sure iggy,polnareff,kakyoin , joesph,avdol were there
But they couldn't overshadow jotaro
giorno was def overshadowed lol, jotaro literally handled part 3, literally soloed lmaooo
Part 3 is just Jotaro going to Egypt and kicking everybody ass.
Also want to point out Josuke's direct connection to Kira is Shigechi's death. Thats his motivation to find Kira in the second half.
the problem if you ask me is:
too much koichi
not enough josuke
Pretty much
cus its koichis pov
It's enough koichi

I feel like Josuke would become a police officer.
I find that since part four is a slice of life type show having josuke be a small part instead of shoving him in more situations is fine ,since most villians are tackled as a team. It would be less fitting for josuke to do most of the work instead of it being a team effort in the final fight.
Pucci: IM GOING TO ATAIN HEAVEN
Josuke: hits window making it all come back together pulling the window frame puccis floating in back to the ground, or should i say, pulling it into a CRAZY BEATDOWN!!!*
It’s why I think the first half of part 4 is the better story for Josuke because Akira is actively hunting Josuke down and engaging with him
The tribute to billy kametz at the end was really sweet. Hoping to see more jojo stuff!
Josuke could uncook food. He might be a good chef.
literally the jojo with the most aesthetic appeal

In that regard, Josuke definitely didn't get the worst deal.
josuke is my favorite jojo because i relate two him in a lot of ways.
Josuke is like Jonathan in that he is immediately striking and has his moment and that’s it. It makes him more special
I liked how part 4 was written because I felt the supporting characters didn't matter much in previous parts.
No way! But if that was Araki’s thoughts on the matter was then I can’t say I don’t see his reasoning.
i love crazy diamond, its has great strength and speed that might be even better then jotaros but it does not have the worlds power, instead its power is simply to heal or reverse things back into a diffrent state, which you would think would be just an extremely useful utility and support ability but he turns it into a weapon when fighting kira and other beings, he uses it in such creative ways that he makes the ability really strong yet the ability does not feel broken especially since he cant just heal himself, if josuke could heal himself the ability would probs be on the top 5 best stands because as long as he can live fron his injuries he can survive anything, it also just means that josuke is stronger in a group because he can keep his allies alive and it means josuke can actually work as a team with his friends rather then his team members just being tag alongs that dont offer much
josuke will always be a favorite of mine hes the most relatable joestar out there and tries to be the best, its an utter shame he never gets mentioned beyond his own part
"What'd you say about my hair!?" RIP Billy Kametz.
I like to think of each JoJo as destiny’s answer to the circumstances. “The heroes would not have been able to rise to the occasion without jojo’s help”
Same. Part 4 is my favourite and Josuke is my favourite jojo as well. (I’m on part 6 now)
I don’t know he just feels like a really good guy, someone who can be a really loyal friend who will do anything for you. He seems honest. And i like his pompadour ;)
Part 4 for me is great because of the horror movie like atmospheres with tints of detective and thriller. A very powerful antagonist and well written side characters. But i like part 4 just a little bit more then any other part, because i love them all. They are so different in every way
I think the only other time I can remember them using Josuke's issue with reptiles was in Eye's of Heaven when they use Coco Jumbo to start traveling around through time.
the amount of disrespect he received
Rip Billy. English Josuke.
Double ironic.
if josuke was done dirty...
then johnny was done dirty deeds done dirt cheap
Initially I wasn't a huge fan of Josuke, but after my recent rewatch of DiU he grew on me more. Hugely enjoyable protagonist who gets great interactions with all the cast, and his theme is so good! Definitely the JoJo I'd want to be friends with irl
This is the earliest I've ever been to one of your videos
Weird how araki's favorite jojo is very underused on its own part
Josuke relates to me the most. Just seems like a normal down to earth JoJo with no idea what's happening. I feel that.
I guess you could say that this was a...
DIRTY DEED, DONE DIRT CHEAP!
i love josuke
i think his season has the most beautiful art/is pure art
the scene in the outro where he holds the houses - beautiful. i plan to get a tattoo of this scene
Josuke 8 definitely one of my favorites also
He became less odd after a while, i miss how unhinged level of weird josuke was at the start. Curious how ur gonna feel about the ending of it tho
Josuke always has been and always will be my favorite JoJo.
Alternate Video Title- Josuke- A JoJo DONE DIRT CHEAP...
I've often joked that part 4 felt less like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and more like Koichi's Unusual Escapades a lot of the time, but I'm starting to genuinely consider the validity of that statement as of late.
Araki: Jokuke is my favorite Jojo!
Also Araki:
Honestly, in spite of all the legitimate criticism of Josuke and Part 4, and the flair and polish of other parts - Part 4 will always be my favorite part and Josuke will always be my favorite Jojo. And the reason why is simple:
Part 4 was exactly what I was looking for in a concept like Jojo’s Bizzare Adventures.
Josuke (Part 4) is my favorite JoJo, most relatable IMO and a fun character to watch, but as you said, was done dirty by his own part. R.I.P. Billy
This JoJo truly was done dirt cheap
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DROP THE MEAT!
I like how the"Town" ended the torment of akira. tbh, still top 3 jojo arcs
I've never disagreed with a video more while simultaneously respecting it
Fantastic work man keep it up
I feel like there was a missed opportunity with that Guy pushing the car thing.... It feels like there was going to be more to that but idk
