Living with my aunt while attending college, I sometimes drove her '60 Eldorado to school. As a teenager, having to drive the behemoth was like some sort of punishment. It was huge! But I kept it washed and waxed, cleaning that grill with over hundred of these little, chrome bullets was a major effort. Then there were the whitewall tires that were always scuffed up. Once finished, she was a massive beauty.
Imagine having that beautiful car and taking the on ramp to a just opened section of new interstate highway, hit the gas and cruise on down on smooth as silk new concrete!
I've been a Cadillac fan and somewhat of an afficianado of the make for some time. I've always said, if I could have ONE Cad, it would be a solid black `60 Sevile HT with solid white interior. And low & behold....what do I find! Sir, you have my most heartfelt jealousy for owning my dream!! And thank you for this mouth-watering video that makes my knees weak. I need to catch my breath!
Thank you for all the kind words...did you check out my other videos...I have several with "The Black Bat" 1960 Eldorado Seville. Look for Anthony Scaramouche
@@AnthonyScaramouche Thank you Anthony! Oh--And please read my comments regarding Rose Blumkin 'supposedly' owning your car. Being an Omaha Native, I'm very familiar with who she was. thanks again!
@@autobug2 I'm the Second owner and the guy that bought the car Dryden Leitner, passed away 3-13-2001 and his ashes are in the trunk told me the story about Rose Blumkin.

An absolutely gorgeous car, with very desirable Factory Air Conditioning and Cruise Control….what a beautiful restoration! That would be a jaw-dropping, awesome weekend cruiser!
@@AnthonyScaramouche I had to remove my 3 deuces off my 62 409 impala and go with a single four barrel set up. I’d get it right and it would work fine for a few weeks and then somehow not work right the next week. I just wanna drive it!
What an amazing history! So many people have been involved, and a part of this car during the time of its existence! Do we know if the original story about the young man being killed is true? Because that's the whole story behind the emotional connection that everyone has had with this car. It's been in their lives during good times and bad. Enjoy it in good health sir. ✌
George, I live in Omaha and remember Rose Blumkin well. No, she never owned this car and no--no grocery sacker got speared by the fin! That lie has been told about `59-`60 Cadillacs since their inception! In fact, Rose Blumkin was wheelchair-bound for approx. her last 50+ years! She couldn't have driven a car if she wanted to! She had a muscular problem that took way from her ability to stand or walk! Ask anyone who knew her---it's true!
A high school chum drove these, they were usually a couple of years old. His father said that he wanted his son to drive something that was safe. Well, the Cadillacs weren't Sherman tanks, but not far off. Sherman tanks had Cadillac engines and Hydramatics.
It's a beauty but I've always wondered why GM didn't specify a Cadillac- only top and glass for this model. You would think that something this expensive and low production would not have shared the same greenhouse with all the other GM hardtop coupes for 1959 and 1960 including the much lower priced Chevrolets and Pontiacs.
In 1965, for my 21st birthday, I wanted to buy myself a Cadillac ElDorado or Fleetwood. Finally settled on a '60 Fleetwood. $1600 from a dealer's used car lot. When everything was running perfect it got 7 MPG (with just 1 4-barrel carb). In summer, in the city, with A/C on, it got 4 MPG. (Who cared? Gas was 29c per gallon.) My Fleetwood had a lot of unusual things I never saw on a car before or since. Out of curiosity, do you get a shock when you set the cruise control while touching metal on the steering wheel? Does your mirror have 3 positions ... day, night, and twilight? Does your automatic headlight dimmer have 3 settings ... high beam, low beam, and "middle beam" (all 4 lights on in low beam)?
I'm not sure, I had the car restored in Western PA and all I know is it's a new exhaust with over 30ft of piping... it sounds like a car purring or a motor boat.
The '60 is so much better styled than the '59. Never could figure why '59s are such a big deal. And that said, the '61-'62 are a pinnacle of GM design, the end of the "space car" styling thread. But this one is a beauty. But the video cheats a bit: does the Seville have the same "U" running the length of the rocker panel and up past the tailfins?
Thank you for the compliments on my 1960 Caddy and agree, the '59 even through iconic tail fins has too heavy of bumpers and chrome trim for me. Finally, not an expert, but there was a time when the name Eldorado Seville was one, years later it was divided and then the Seville came out.
Bat mobile! Very cool indeed! Thank God that it hasn't been gang raped with atrocious candy paint, or cheesy rims. I detest when people do that to beautiful cars.
0:02 engine purrs like kitten because it was already warmed up, this not a cold start, look at the temp gauge!! at least be honest ,and start the car when it's cold😡😡 and get the air out of power steering pump, or bad bearing on that or generator talking about that humming noise!
@@AnthonyScaramouche no but not saying it and claim it start and purr like kitten, is wrong, those car have a hard time to start when they are cold!! that was why I said you are dishonest!
A true masterpiece. The designers of this period were geniuses !
