I'm kinda sad this was a hammer and bolter episode, i feel like it should be its own series
It is! Kinda. They have novels and short stories
though the books weren't that impressive compared to CL Werner's work, let alone Dan Abnett. Callis and Toll was a fun read and should be adapted
yes me too.
The baby’s first words: Only In Death, Does Duty End.
You: Beaming with pride.
I never knew that I needed to see a man punch a vampire so hard.
the renaissance theme has carried over from the old world from original warhammer fantasy. It was always my favorite part about The Empire black powder blessed.
Witchhunters skaven and muskets. Im digging this the most
Seeing the Skaven appear for the first time outside of games and books was really cool to see honestly. Also nice seeing Farside Features still improving the quality every episode!
I thought this was great and if they keep up episodes like this I’ll think they hit their stride
I agree, they needed time to improve, I hate how people just think that it needs to be good right out of the gate, and that each studio has to have the smoothest animation. I like that they go for the motion comic idea, and M2 does other types of animation's for WH.
Skaven, pfft. You sound like a crazy person, talking about humanoid rats. We all know those don’t exist man stop lying.
This was, by far, my favorite episode of Hammer and Bolter thus far. I'd pay good money to see an entire series set in the Under City of Hammerhal. Shit. I've been wanting to run a D&D game in it. It'd be like Fantasy Shadowrun, with fantasy trouble shooters venturing into the dark depths to fight horrible monsters and ruthless gangers.
Hanniver Toll is a great character and I would watch the heck out of a buddy cop series with Armand.
@@Counterpoints abso-fucking-lutly! That would be sick as hell. Maybe have a rotating cast of characters who kinda function like the rogue did. Filling a slot that they cannot
I thought this series only covered 40k lore
I heard there’s apparently going to be a book series. But I recommend checking out Cursed City
This entire episode is more like a Darkest Dungeon series than Warhammer Fantasy.
Ngl I’m not as big of a fan of fantasy but I’m warming up to it. Magic, muskets, and crazy threats is a good mix.
@Snowsc same. I thought medieval stuff was lame and then I was like oh…demigryph knights…nice…
@@Counterpoints 10:20 random NPC guard...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...oh and he was one week from retirement...dammit"!
@Snowsc Yeah TW:WH2 has taken a toll on me too :P
Where do you think the Darkest dungeon got their inspiration from. Earlier Citadel games like D@D and Warhammer, plus 40k. Well, it was referred to Space Crusade at that time.
The witch hunter look like rick in his crow tech armor
Fun fact: Warfarin, a anti-coagulant available by prescription and on the WHO's list of essential medicines, was originally developed as rodenticide.
I wonder if like in blade anticoagulant would self destruct a vampire because of how their blood works
"He wasn't sinking, he was already sunk" sometimes a good roast is what ya need to pull yourself out of a rut lol! love the content, man. keep it up
This was actually a really good episode, and again makes me appreciate the Age of Sugar timeline where I previously dismissed it.
The Redshirts being depicted as actually somewhat useful. Color me positively surprised.
Loved that they got some halberd and blunderbuss kills before they went out. Getting ripped to shreds by rat men looks pretty rough.
Indeed
Yes me too. Those guys went down blades blazing.
This episode was so good it made me get warhammer tv. Cant wait to see more of the skaven.

8:38 He said it! He said it!!!!!
Such a good game!
I love how they “kill” the skeletons with a slash then they just get reanimated again 😂 these characters are also going to return in a book series by Nick Horth
Honestly if you are checking out places that likely have undead make sure you remove the skulls and limbs of any not yet animated skeletons you find on your way it will save you huge amount of trouble. Armless and legless undead are worthless.
You say that but that one reassembled after Hanniver cut off his hand so…maybe
Thank you this will help me with my job. I have to deal with numbskulls all the time.
Unless they’re held together by death magic. Which they were.
There are fates worse then death...for Instance...you could be at the dentist....waiting forever to get your teeth checked...and you have to sit there reading boring old magazines....(duh,duh,duhhhhhhhh)
Never a flagellant or a warrior priest when you need one...
This witch hunter looks like Rick. 😂
We got to hunt vampires Morty!
- The Skhaven are so terrifying, my absolute favorite faction! They are so gross and menacing but they can also be adorable, I mean how do you not smile when you find out they call their telephones "Far Squeakers"
They’re *delightfully* horrible, especially Skryre.
I love the lore and background you expound on in these episodes! It gives everything great context! BTW from one dad to another congratulations!
07 thank you kindly sir
Hey man i know you wont see this lost in the comments but that last remark was helpful. I lost someone a few months back the call when wrong. Ive also been sinking hard and i don't know if i wanna keep doing this work ive been so tired and burnt and just wanna nerd out with my kids. These lore videos from someone that was in the same field helps thanks.
07, it’s okay to not be okay. And if it’s time, start looking for a way out because it might take longer than you want. Serving your community is important, raising good human beings is more important.
Everyone who has ever played a fantasy rpg knows that swords are terrible against skeletons. You need something like a mace, that will actually smash the bones.Even a gauntleted fist, or stomping on them when they fell would be more effective than stabbing them with swords. At least a slash might break some bones, or knock them down, where a stomp can be delivered. Also, by bringing the light grenades, the old guy showed that he obviously knew that they could be facing undead, He should have brought a priest/cleric, silver, holy water, wooden stakes, and a lot more help. The undead, especially the more powerful types, are among the absolute worst kinds of enemies to deal with, and almost all of them require special weaponry to deal with.
Your final take is absolutely well shared.
Brilliant, as usual.
07 thank you kindly I live to serve
O7... This we know, Sarge.
Hoo-Ah!
I think every thing was cool about the episode made me think about how fighting corruption, is important everywhere in Warhammer. Even in a different time and place it could be dire.
The never ending task
The stuff in the cult chamber was very solid. Like the ghost thief, what was that from 16:29 death magic
@@mitchelljohnson559 yup! The dead all have their own afterlives that are being invaded and consumed by the god of the dead
This was fantastic, and I'm looking forward to the models coming out soon!
Hammer and bolter should just quick beating around the bush and make a warhammer fantasy episode.
I want to see an Empire battle line hold out against a charging Norscan horde.
Im like wtf is a Cathayan and an Araby-an doing there?
This is Age of Sigmar not Fantasy.
Humanity is much more cosmopolitan because there are no geographic dividers anymore. Human souls 'spread' indiscriminately throughout the realms because they are effectively respawning.
Cathay and Araby aren't things anymore, they don't exist. It also would still make sense in Fantasy because just like the real world trading and immigration is not only real but expected. The old fantasy books mention civilians from other nations, and the RPG warhammer games show that just as expected in real empires that the Old Empire was diverse in some manners resulting from trade and size.
Look to the Holy Roman Empire, the Ottoman Empire, and the Byzantines - Roman - Medieval Romans. Trade hubs in these kingdoms were cosmopolitan as a result.
Then account for the Arabyan conquest of Estalia and the spice roads of Cathay and again, book and artwork references. It wouldn't be impossible, uncommon even, for there to be a Cathayan or Arabyan in the old Empire just as there were Norscan/Kislev traders.
That’s what I was thinking to is everything is jacked up since they retreated to Azyr and the Reclaimed are everywhere.
Hanaver sounds like he is voiced by The Blackfish.
VERMINTIDE!!!! Dam good game
I could watch a whole series on this
I'll be honest. Considering the witch hunter and the mercenary survived the creator could've used Victor Saltzpyre and Markus Kruber and I think it would earn more interest that way.
They haven’t been confirmed to have reanimated in the bright and shiny AAAAAGEEE OF *SIGMO!* (!!!) yet. I’m sure they will, GW knows how much the Ubersreik five (or four, doesn’t matter) are beloved.
Not even the destruction of the old world can keep the gang separated forever.
I love your comments and analysis of the episode
07 thank you kindly
Cheers again for the great content bro! 🎉
07
Yo really good breakdown of the episode. Subscribed. I might actually get Warhammer +.
Edit: 16:44 Imagine constantly calling on your dead friend to help out with life’s problems. 💀
That opening animation is awesome
I don't think those vampires were vargheist. They had wings, but none of the beastial features familiar with vargheists. Some vampires just look like that, such as the one from the Underworlds team, Curseborn(?). Kind of weird how easy they killed vampires though, since usually one is enough of a threat for a whole band of witchunters...
The way I saw it, could they have been in the transition? Like halfway to varghiest?
@@tomoyboy was about to say the lore for Vargheists says it takes months and years of not feeding to turn into one so I assumed it takes multiple transitionary stages where they lose themselves more and more to the mindless hunger.
Love your content keep it up 👍🏾 😊
Thanks for sharing this :)
p.s. your audio is a bit too high compared to the show's audio methinks
I never heard of storm cast before.
Thanks for what you do!
07
I'm newer to The 40k universe and you've been Great at explaining the lore. Thank you!!! I have one question if you can answer it. In some of your episodes you seem to start explaining a seen or seen's that haven't been on screen yet... Any ideas why? Thank you again.
I have to take out 30% of the episode to keep games workshop happy
I was wondering where does the animation you use at the beginning of the video comes from
so much material so much good lore... this episode can literally be an action game like castlevania
Agreed. Massively under appreciated because it’s age of Sigmar
I NEVER KNRW HOW MUCH I WANTED A VERMINTIDE ANIME NOWWWW AKSJWKWHWBS WAAAAAA
I didn’t know the Skaven were still a thing I’m god they are still around skaven we’re always my favorite
One hammer and bolter episode I wish they make is an episode around Fabius Bile
He’s a great villain
Congrats on the babe!!
Thx for this... its awesome ❤❤❤❤
Hey the Two nameless soldier fue like good death FIGHTING
I read a Callis and Toll book. Was funn but it lacked depth
Still. The duo were fun
But i've always had a soft spot for Witchhunters.
They are absolutely badasss and carry a supernatural noir charm all on their own
I wish Witch Hunters got more attention
Sigmo! Big hammer man Sigmo! Be with us, Sigmo, and send the Sigmoboys down on a big bolt of lightning
I’m not a fan of age of Sigmar but I def like this dark setting and the pacing of the dialogue.
CHAOS! CHAOS EVERYWHERE!
Comment foe the Commentgods!
I really liked this episode as it serves as a good inspiration foe my next DnD session when the party is engaged with a Skaven Burrow in Mordheim.
Things keeping Skaven form conquering other realms are other factions.
Words "... only it's own rivalty" etc. is cheap, every faction has it.
Well they have trillions so
It mainly has to do with the fact that they are busy backstabbing eachother than cooperating.
18:48 Vampire!!
"VERMINTIDE!"
Thank you
Rip to the guardsman
I know it's a personal question, but is that what happened to you? Why did you leave the force? Was it anything like what you were stating at 24:00, not just being burnt out but now becoming, jaded and warped almost.
Yup.
Love this big time
“ Politely yet forcibly “. Aka they have a drop pod aimed at your house
Dreadclaw but yes
I'm always unnecessarily sad when they kill off unnamed grunts :'(
Everytime i watch theses i keep thinking you are russel crow 😆
I am the same age he was when he did Gladiator
Damn skaven! Kinda love em.
They’re good creepy villains
they could have used Bardin and the gang,
Nice video but in what universe take this place?
Age of Sigmar
Warhammer Fantasy now known as the old world got blown up by chaos. They literally won and caused the apocalypse. Sigmar the god of order was flung into the void clutching onto shreds of magic that he then used to create new “realms,” which are basically magic infused exoplanets.
are they in the same universe as the space marines??
That voiceactor is definitely KSI!
Where did you get ep 14 & 15? I looked online and no-one is generating any magnets or streams to view it. How did you obtain a copy?
I paid for it…lol….
@@Counterpoints Ohh ok, so you do pay to watch the subscription of the shows. Thanks man, I appreciate it. I will sign up then
@@danysperez-carrillo6630 its pretty good, highly recommend Angels of death
does hammer do anything?..."THE MESSAGE"!!!
im starting to like Warhammer Fantasy as much as I like Warhammer 40k, both can lend themselves for their own respective of genres; tho I am still sad that warhammer fantasy is canonically no longer part of Warhammer 40k or even connected :(.
It’s growing on me because I think there’s more room for things to grow against the horrors of the world vs the raging against the dying of the light. They can both be hardcore in different ways.
Does anyone know what video the opening animation is from?

ngl i really don't like the big war parts of fantasy Warhammer but i really like the mercs and adventures and how big the city is like a hive city but like a dnd game
Nice
Reminds Darkest Dungeon
Ain't no way my man said musket pistol
Victor Saltzpyre is the best witch hunter, change my mind.
One of the Reasons I like Warhammer Fantasy so much is because how they realistically include women.
Other fantasy games just put women into position which in the Renaissance and late Medieval Age (can't really pinpoint which age Warhammer Fantasy is, we got from Stoneage Savage Orks to Industrial Era Dwarves with Steam helicopters, so let's concentrate on the human kingdoms) were completely dominated by men.
For example as Soldiers or Miners.
Seeing a women in full plate armor with a giant two handed word is just weird. This equipment is quite costly.
When Man-at-arms (basically a non-noble professional soldier) were recruited by the local lord. He would ask his subject to send their sons for selection. Everyone wanted their sons to become Man-at-arms as it was considered a great honour. (also it paid quite well comparibly for being a farmer or a craftsmen)
As they only had the ressources to arm a limited number they would choose the tallest, strongest and healthiest men.
And sorry to say this. We men ARE STRONGER. We can kick and hit far harder than the average woman. So a male soldier will be able to do far more damage with a halbeard or a mace than a woman. You need a lot of power to break through armor even with armor piercing weapons like those mentioned before.
We only have the ressources to properly arm a small part of the population. So we arm the most qualified for the job. Or else we lose (which in the Warhammer Universe doesn't mean subjugated but often simply being whiped out Mongol Style)
Who is the physically strongest part of a population? Young men!
There are (at least among the humans) no women seen working as Mercenaries or professional Soldiers in Warhammer Fantasy because a realistic medieval society didn't have them.
So how do you include women? Make them do something they would be effective at. For instance the class of the Rogue. You don't need to be strong to be sneaky bastard and lockpicking and stealing. More a case of long years of experience. Historically female thieves and assasin existed (even though as Assasins they relied more on the "womens charm" to get close to their victim than being sneaky bastards)
Sienna and Kerilian from Vermintide are good examples as well.
Sienne is a Bright Wizard. A flamethrower in human form. Magic Power is not based on gender. Also fire tends to be quite hot and gender neutral. A female wizard with the same magic power level is as effective as a male one.
Kerilian is a Wood Elve. While human tactics are based on melee and line formations. Wood Elves concentrate on ranged hit & run tactis. Hide in the greens and kill their enemies with arrows before they even know what hit them. They tend to avoid melee.
Physical strenght is less important than accuracy and agility. Which why female Elves can be as effective as their male counterparts.
In fact during Ancient Times Greek explores discovered nomadic horse people living around the area of the Black Sea. Their warfare in opposite to the greeks was based on horsemen using bowas and arrow. Mobility and accuracy was most important.
As a woman on a horse is as fast as a man and can use a shortbow just fine. Women also participated in warfare.
Those women warriors were actually the source for the Amazon Myths of Ancient Greece.
That's why I love Warhammer so much. It's a fantasy setting but they keep it realistic how a medieval people even with magic and fantasy creatures would organize itself.
They try to make the people believable with the mindset of their time and not ours.
Yeah, vermintide 3 is not the same anymore
What was roaring and scaring the skraven?
Probably a Vargheist Vampire out hunting
Shame that no name guardsman #1 and #2 died.

This is Warhammer Age of Sigmar, it’s a fantasy setting like lord of the rings

so warhammer age of sigma is like 40k but medieval fantasy right?
Precisely. Different universe different factions and challenges but they have the same dark gods.
Yes

oh what this is set is AOS?
did they literally just 1 to 1 translate witch hunters from fantasy to aos
They did, which hunters in Warhammer Fantasy were Templars of Sigmar but in AoS the witch hunters are of the Order of Azyr. One example of many things GW ported directly over from Fantasy to AoS.

Where is the black guy from exactly? Cant help but ask as he doesnt fit into the Old Warhammer world and its weird. Awesome animation though!!
Warhammer factions are thematically based and inspired by history as follows:
The Empire = Central Europe/Holy Roman Empire
Tilea = Medieval Italy
Estalia = Medieval Spain
Bretonnia = Medieval France / King Arthur Legends
Kislev = Russia/Ukraine/Poland
Araby = Middle East/Arabian nights etc
Norsca = Scandinavia/Vikings
Albion = Britains/ Picts / celts etc
Sylvania = Transylvania
Ulthuan = Atlantis Mythology
Lustria = South America / Aztecs etc
Naggaroth = North America location / Evil Twisted Elves from the sundering (Evil Atlantians)
Ind = India
Nippon = Japan / Feudal Japan Samuri etc
Cathay = China / Teracotta Army, Chinese Emperors and great wall of china etc
Kuresh = Varius South Asian/Indian cultures/nations.
Nehekhara/Land of the Dead = Ancient Egyptians
There simply isnt any historic 'Black' civilisations', Empires or cultures etc to base any Warhammer faction on really hense the absense of Black people in Warhammer Fantasy in general. The only miniatures Games workshop ever made or wrote about who were 'Black' were the 'Pygmie tribes'. You can make the 40k world diverse however as the Imperium is all Mankind and based 40k years into teh future , but Warhammer the Old World is a different story and not based within the 40k universe. Having Black characters seems very odd in a Warhammer Fantasy setting to me. I do nbot understand why this character was made to look this way.
Age of Sigmar resets the setting by literally blowing it up
@@Counterpoints fair enough im not that familiar with AoS. I dont think its that popular tbh. Ill have to read up on it but im an old school Warhammer Fantasy guy myself.
@@PedroC-hk6po fantasy is way more fleshed out and in my opinion more dark BUT what’s cool about Sigmar is it’s trying to reclaim the light from the dark with some pretty horrible twists. I think 40K is “raging against the dying of the light” while AOS is “fighting for the light of rebirth in a dark world.” They’re both beautiful in their own thematic way.
How is the life with the baby?
Awesome! Not sleeping but having loads of fun
