  • Not a how-to video, I'm not nearly qualified to do that.
I only used bunch of expensive tools that cost me a lot of money over a couple years to get.
    You can do it, too.
(But really you can probably do it better than me with less tools, I'm still new here)
A live edge walnut coffee table with built-in custom planter.
This piece is made from live edge walnut slabs, complimented with solid walnut legs. Tiptoeing the line of mid century modern & post modern design. (At least I think, someone correct me I just like making curvy silhouettes)
Inspired by ‪@farmernick774‬ & ‪@ENCurtis‬ planter coffee table.

Thank you! I have goals for this UA-cam/Social Media, but my main goal is to get this furniture company off the ground and keep creating, so hoping with that as my anchor, the rest will come.

I like the concept of succulents a whole lot better than epoxy. Another great video, keep it up. - Chris

Thanks! I think it may be a recurring theme in some of my builds, it was well received locally, and it pretty much flew out of my living room and sold as soon as I said it was available, haha.

Nice piece. You might want to consider switching to a jigsaw for breaking down stock because you were lucky that the circular saw only stalled in the wood and didn't kick back at you.

Thank you for the tip! Will definitely do that next time, want to avoid any kind of luck factoring in for safety. For this latest project, I did similar but instead took multiple small 1/4” passes until I made it through the slab with the circ saw. Is that another way to do it or do you think a jigsaw is still preferred? I want to know whats better and safer!

@@by-aser the thing you need to watch out for when using a circular saw is that the cut closes on the blade causing the saw to kick back at you. Shallow cuts may help provided you support the timber fully during the cut. A jigsaw would be safer but nowhere near as quick as the circular saw. It really comes down to what level of risk you feel comfortable with.

1:25 You say that it was a "absurdly long and inefficient bark removal process". I've taken ye olde chisel to pare off the bark myself so I was curious if you've learned of a better way of removing the bark.

It was this one I got on Amazon as I was looking for a branding iron, figured this might be a little more versatile!

Battery saws are under power and meant for construction job sites. If you work mostly at home get a more powerful electric saw!!!

Lots of professional woodworkers use battery powered circ saws. I wouldn’t say they’re under powered at all. Lots of battery powered saws are quite good these days. Also, a battery powered saw is also an electric powered saw

I actually just got myself a TS55 because my latest project has me cutting some plywood that I struggled to cut straight, and then have to square off the edges on the tabletop, so that'll help a lot I hope!

I love being battery powered for breaking down sheets of ply at the big box store if I have to in a pinch, and also for doing rough cuts so I don't have to drag too much over to make the cut. Seems like I'm going to be using both of them in future projects!
