Claire Wineland was known for her funny, offbeat videos about growing up with cystic fibrosis, her hospital room makeovers and the fact that she insisted on living a life she could be proud of. We found this video in the works on her computer and decided it would be fun to share it with you all in her honor. If you are currently in the hospital, maybe this will inspire some room decorating ideas...Thanks for supporting her all these years. We miss her madly but she truly comes to life in her videos so I like sharing them. She will always and forever be loved and missed and her mission continues at Claire's Place Foundation.

The movie was based on her
Justin Baldoni (director of five feet apart) made a documentary on her back in 2013-ish. She greatly impacted him and so modeled the character, Stella, after her- a youtuber, to-do list haver, poster of guy with chakras, her twinkle lights and a bunch of pictures in the corner. Oh and the panda bear mimics labor bear (shown at the end of this vid).

This makes me so sad that she decorated it to be so homely because it was a permanent living situation for het, from what I can gather. The paintings of bricks really go to me though- all she probably wanted was to live in a cute red brick apartment, and healthy. It’s really sad to think of how inspiring and uplifting of a person she was, that she really radiated positive energy and put a smile on everyone’s face....that she made peoples life’s better but she was the one suffering physically. Rest easy ❤️

Plus, I KNOW Claire wouldn't want any of us to be sad over her passing, but to take the joy she brought to us and carry it in our own lives.

I found Claire just months before her passing but as someone actively working on my bachelor's in nursing, I can tell you she is the light of every nurse's eye and a well to draw constant inspiration from. I know, sweet momma, that as you struggle to keep her memory and her account alive for the millions who so desperately needed her, that you are hurting and struggling yourself to just open your eyes each day and find some way to keep going. But please know that whatever you do, whatever you give us, we will be grateful for. For even just small tidbits of this beautiful angel are more than enough to keep us going. She was so very special and unique and stars that burn that bright will forever light the sky. ❤

I second this, emphatically, as a nurse myself. I never met her, but I know she made a lot of people's days. I guarantee the medical staff looked forward to seeing her...that they did everything within their power for her... because they saw what everyone who was stopped in their tracks by her smile saw. And felt.

Im just going to post this here as many people dont know what happened. She had cystic fibrosis and did sadly pass away on the 2nd of September in 2018, She died from a stroke only a week after a lung transplant , she was only 21. She was an activist and had "claires place foundation" which helped many people and their families with cystic fibrosis . May she rest in peace 💕

I was having an extremely rough day, I was sulking in my own depression, still haven’t gotten out of bed and didn’t plan on it for a while because I didn’t want the fresh air to remind me of the pain in my bones, but after watching this I’m gonna get up and make the most of the rest of my day. This video completely changed my mood around, I love Claire so much. This world feels so lonely without her, but I still feel her presence and infectious inspiration in the air

Wow I clicked on this at random and I thought what a positive person really in the moment of living every moment. When others always think of what they don't have. She could of been like I can't live on my own or other things. But she was so grateful for what she had. Then I read the description and my heat broke xx
I am completely in awe of this amazing human being. Looking at her, I can see that she truly was too good for this world. We are all blessed to have gotten to watch her and know her personality. Her passing hit me just like it would if an actual family member had. Which did happen. When I look back on her videos I see my Mom, positive and fighting no matter what. Fuck cancer. And all diseases that take these good people from us.

i think we can all agree that she really lived big. She was really inspiring and only focused on the positive side of things. To her, negativity didn’t even exist and thats what everyone loved about her. She will always stick with us no matter what. She did so good, better than most. This gave me an idea for like a charity or a service project in the communities. So like they go to hospitals and collect room decor to give and redecorate the rooms of people who will be there for a while. She probably worked wonders for her soul and just made it so much better by redecorating and doing this for others could spread this idea. I might do this for my senior service project let me know what you think by commenting thanks

my stepmom used to be her primary nurse at millers children hospital. she came up to me the day that she claire died and asked if i knew about her and she would tell me all of these stories about how she would just change the whole atmosphere of the room so it wasn’t hospital like and that she would feel more comfortable, she seemed like a lovely human and i’m sorry i wasn’t able to ever meet her. rip girly you’re truly an inspiration💛

She was one of my favorite UA-camrs and helped me with the fact that my grandmother passed away while she was in acoma. It was comforting to know that my grandmother was at peace and dreaming for the most part when she was unreachable.

My son's hospital encouraged us to decorate, even for short stays. As long as the nurse carts could come into the room for meds and vitals, they loved it. We just had to return the room back to normal when leaving. Different hospitals have different rules. Just ask...

DIYs and Fun It’s not because she was dying. They usually let patients who are in the hospital for weeks or months at a time decorate their room so they don’t feel so depressed sitting in their room all day. She was always in & out of the hospital, staying for months at a time. That is why they allowed her to do so. Unfortunately, she passed away after her double lung transplant. This video was probably made when she was still waiting on the transplant list.
I work in an ICU- hospitals can be such terrible places. It’s nice to know that joy can be found even in the darkest of places when someone with such a veracity for life storms through. Rest in power, Claire. ❤️

Claire I wish you could actually see my comment but this will have to do. You did an amazing job decorating your room I’ve stayed in the hospital a few times now in my 20 years and i never thought to decorate it I’ll be doing this from now on.
