i’m a huge imogen defender. she liked a boy and was confident enough to do something about it, like that takes so much guts. she took nick telling her he didn’t like her like that very well, and still felt comfortable hanging out with him before school the next morning.
Yah, I think her initial annoying qualities come from her just being confused and insecure. She was pretty clear she liked Nick, and he never really responded… not a clear no or any indication he was interested. I think that would make anyone a little confused and desperate. I think the fans’ reaction to Imogen is we think Nick = perfection therefore Imogen is flawed but if we look at the way Nick treated her… even if it was never intentional… it becomes clear it’s really Nick who’s at fault here, not Imogen. Through fear, peer pressure and an unwillingness to hurt her feelings, he kind of led her on.
@@graphiquejack i’ve also seen more people hating on imogen than harry and ben, who are both homophobic bullies, and ben sexual assaulted charlie. it honestly reeks of misogyny
Yes! Thank you. Imogen is great! She’s confident and kind and sweet and took rejection from the boy she liked like a champ. We need more people defending Imogen.
I felt bad because I think Imogen is annoying before this episode. When she was all okay after Nick friend zoned her and still decided to be his friend, I felt like an asshole and that I treated her harshly
There’s nothing wrong with Imogen. She’s just one of those girls who hangs out around the popular kids hoping to be included (Harry didn’t invite her to his party even though she was right there). She’s known Nick long enough to zing him with some jokes. She can probably relate to Nick’s speech because who knows what she has done to keep herself around the popular kids
Also re: Nick being so emotionally mature: That's just what happens when Olivia Coleman is your primary advisor.
I'd say the chances are about 50/50 😉
I dunno… Sarah Nelson yes… great mom. Queen Elizabeth II? Dodgy. I agree… 50/50
Olivia herself yeah definitely xp
I also find the "speech" that Nick gives at the end very mature. He finally realizes that he has been hiding his real personnality inside for a long time and that maybe it's time to let it out. Also, when he finally tells Charlie the "date with Imogen thing", I find this absolutely inspiring. Couples would be so much better off if they talked to each other. It's really an inspiring series for the young kids who are struggling with their sexuality and their coming out.
The difference between your reactions in ep 1 and now is hilarious (and really rather endearing). I think it’s impossible to watch this show and not fall in love with these characters.
I’m a 43 yr old CisHet woman so hardly the target demographic but I’d throw myself in-front of a bus for any of these kids. They’re just so earnest and wholesome and set such wonderful examples. The emotional maturity constantly shown by Nick in particular is the most unrealistic thing in the whole show to me I think. I wish I was half as brave and honest with my feelings as he is.
The character development of Alex's heart becoming warmer and less cynical over the course of the series. We love.
couldn't agree more with you guys. as a pansexual person I really enjoyed watching Nick's journey, it really gave me the courage to finally accept myself and start loving myself for it! :')
my favorite part of this series is you guys say like "I wish this would happen" "i wish they would have this conversation"
and then five minutes later it happens
this show is so incredibly beautiful
Dog owners will always want to see a dog. I literally came out of the vet after putting mine down and there was another good boy wanting to give him belly rubs. It made me happy.
Kit Connor at the scene at 22:04 was just superb. I still can not believe he is only 18, he has acting talents which are far superior than most older, experience actors have these days. This scene in the park just showed me how great an actor this young man is. A simple scene, but conveying so much in it. I wonder if anyone else agrees with me? Thanks.
He was actually 17 when he did the scene. . .
@@nemo4evr Still amazing isn't it? What a talent. He delivered so much emotion in that one scene.
Emmy nomination material
@@82evene Kit and Joe are both in the running for nominations for Britain's National Television Awards, that is a big TV awards here in Britain.
@@82evene Well, he just won one !
Isaac's an amazing friend, he figured out Nick and Charlie deal long before anyone else did and he just let them find their own footing and stayed out of the drama
My favourite part of the Olivia Coleman scene is that while she’s shown to be so supportive of Nick, she still says the right girl will come along, not knowing Nick is struggling with his feelings for Charlie, and reinforcing heteronormative standards. It’s something I took note of and I’ll be be using gender neutral statements when my niece and nephews get older. The right person will come along.
She does redeem herself later by noting that Charlie is a *special friend* though 😄
@@canny_linguist she does! I love both Olivia Coleman and her character, I just love how the scene is so realistic. So many parents would make that comment offhand and have no idea how it’s affecting their child.
@@crystalpritchard5065 I think it's good to show that side because it's so realistic and relatable. Also I think she's giving Nick space to come out on his own terms perhaps?
As I watched that scene for the first time I thought the same things as well. But after that, when I watched it a second time with a friend of mine, I said what was on my mind and she gave me an interesting addition to my thought: although it would be better and ideal that she used a neutral sentence, Nick also said that he was going on a date with a girl, showing that he could have an interest for a girl, as he points later that he had in the past. So even though im still partial about using neutral sentences regarding anyone which sexuality we don’t know and that Nick’s mom’s word choice was impregnated with heteronormative social standards, it’s comprehensible that she “played” around the cards her son gave her access to. Idk if I expressed myself the best way, but anyway, I hope I got my point across.
LOVE THIS. So important that we don’t accidentally create barriers that stop people feeling comfortable enough to open up.
You guys are so hilarious. Josh gasping OH when Alex said "or he'll friendzone Charlie". And you guys melting during the kiss in the arcade and Alex and his feelings. This was my fave episode, both of Heartstopper and this react video 😊 Can't wait for the next one!
I’m 16 and my high school is seen as pretty accepting usually, but it’s still normal to hear “that’s so gay” or people saying homophobic slurs sometimes. I don’t really get picked on too much for being a lesbian but some of my friends who I guess look more “stereotypically” queer (or are more open about their sexuality or gender identity than me) still have a hard time. It’s pretty sad to see. I live in Canada btw
It makes me so happy to see you two progress from making fun of the show to doing some really in-depth looks at the implications and the situations for young adults...I am really starting to like you boys a lot now...and the humor still remains.....good work boys
This! I feel like their trajectory matched mine as well. At first a little dismissive of the silly plot and character building tropes that go along with teen dramas. But then they become invested in the characters and stories, and reflective about their pasts and society, and understanding the emotional intelligence of the characters that is so rare in these sorts of shows.
This show blew me away in ways I never ever would have expected.
21:11 I think I get why Nick brought Nellie with him to speak to Imogen:
Nick’s first go-to when someone is (or about to get) hurt/upset is to wrap them up in a hug 🫂: Nick demonstrated this several times during this season.
Poor Imogen lost her dog; so Nick brought Nellie so Imogen could hug her, & feel the comfort that a dog’s 🐶 closeness brings.
Knowing that the gift was indeed a picture of them made this SO FUNNY.
Happy yall are enjoying. can't wait for episode 6 "Girls"
Josh’s arms were distracting hehe but yet I still managed to get teary-eyed rewatching the episode in depth with you guys 🙂
He's got strong rugby arms 💪
I kept thinking their youtube channel logo was a tatoo - cute!
I'm more into Alex😭😭😭😭😭he's so beautiful,I can't 😭
16:23 I don't think that's what Nick meant. I am fairly sure and always will be, he meant he wish he had known Charlie when Charlie was getting bullied. Because if not directly Nick's friends, it was people he knows personally and closely that were bullying him. And he wishes he could go back in time and protect him, defend him, have done something about it. But he didn't and he still feels guilty about it.
Elle and Tao are like the parents of the group (in my opinion). Tao being the concerned and strict dad and Elle being the chill and sweet mom
What I find so refreshing and remarkable about the show is that it continuously shows young people communicating and being open about their feelings, avoiding drama. Every other show would stretch those moments about and have the character go into an internalized toxic monologue, which creates unnecessary conflict. Throughout the episodes every character does the opposite and expresses what they are going through and thus resolves their turmoil.
Loving your reaction videos guys! ❤ all the best from Rotterdam, the Netherlands!
For what it's worth, I found your reaction to the first episode hilarious, and it didn't bother me at all! You two are bloody hilarious and charming, snark and all, so please do not change your style for anything. But I'm glad you stuck with it!
This show grabbed me from the very beginning, but I can understand why it wouldn't for everyone. It is incredibly wholesome/optimistic/happy to a point where I can empathize with criticisms of it being unrealistic, saccharine, or even insulting (which is a bit wild when you think about it given Ben's actions in the first episode, and I think goes to show how much we queers are conditioned to expect trauma, even from our stories). Even I, a now diehard fan of this show, might not have gelled with it if I'd watched it at a different point in my life. But as you say, I think some of the optimistic elements can serve as helpful models for folks young and old, and there is worth in media that depicts the world as we'd like it to be. That said, I don't think this show is entirely unrealistic! It doesn't shy away from difficult issues, but rather in a way where there is still room for hope and a way out.
I think the thing that stuck out the most for me about this show and the books is that even though Nick struggled with his sexuality, his feelings for Charlie were steadfast. And that wrecked me. 😭💕
The key to nicks talk with imogen at the end can be traced back to episode 2 when nicks mum says he’s very much more like himself when he’s with Charlie as opposed to when he’s with his year 11 friends when perhaps he’s acts like he thinks they expect him to act and him mum knows that’s not the real nick that she’s seen when they’re at home
Very true. Also, they've known each other for so long and obviously didn't even know about their dogs is pretty much a clear indicator of how superficial that "friendship" is/has been.
When Harry mentions Nick's "date on Saturday', the expression on Nick's face says to me that he had never been told the day and time (by Imogen). It's like this is the first he's heard of the time/day.
Also, in the next couple of minutes, Tao and Charlie discuss the timing of the bowling date.
It would start at 4 in the afternoon; they'play a couple of games of bowling, eat a bit, and play a bit in the arcades.
Even if the birthday party ended 4 hours later (8 pm) -- The Imogen date could still begin about then. (Assuming that Nick and Imogen do indeed go on that dinner + cinema date.
"I THINK YOU NEED SOME TIME TO GRIEVE" omg I laughed so hard
It’s February and I just watched Heartstopper for the first time earlier this month. I’m 72 year old straight woman and am obsessed with this cast and story.
I’m a new subscriber here and am really enjoying your reactions. Thanks so much. Great job!
I do think Imogen got what Nick wasn't saying. She protected him from Harry's annoying poking all by deflecting it. :)
There are 4 comics now, with number 5 in the making. Season 1 was the first two comics, so people are speculating about what will happen in season 2 and 3.
Charlie and Nick also appear in several novels, and Alice Oseman has written several mini comics about Charlie and Nick when they're older. There is one where a puppy makes an appearance. :P
Old gay here, I spent my entire teen years terrified and in denial, running away from admitting to myself about who I was. It was not until I moved out was I finally be able to honest with myself and then with others.. All that time wasted being miserable , all that time wasted not being with guys!!! So this is very bittersweet for me. I had no innocent romances, gentle kisses. It was all dark smoky pubs and the whiff of the bins in the alley round back. I came into the world in a sea of Ben's and nobody as pure as NIck, sigh. SIGH!
I so relate to that… Heartstoppper makes us old gays feel elated and sad in equal measure.
I really do love how Nick struggles so much with the place he put Charlie in. Particularly thinking of the Ben story. He deserves the time to figure himself out but he knows it's hard for Charlie and asked for a lot. You can see him really hate Charlie to lie to Tao about him being his "friend". And I love how he stands up to it by hugging him, as a sign of thank you and sorry at once, some strength and love for the way he walks with him. And Nick is trying so hard to get to know his friends and show them and Charlie that he's insecure about his sexuality, but very certain and sincere about him.
i've been waiting for this! you guys have quickly become my favourite reaction to this show
Two gorgeous boys watching two gorgeous boys being too gorgeous? Love it
I’m late to the party, but I want to say I’m really glad I found this show and this channel. As a gay man who grew up before queerness was widely accepted and who therefore didn’t have any experience remotely like this, it’s nice to see this story represented and be seen as a beacon for young people today. On the flip side, I sometimes come away from this show a bit depressed because it depicts a romanticized version of something I never got to experience. Your commentary helps me put things in perspective and I’m thankful for that.
So the first season is based on volumes 1 and 2 of the books. And Alice Oseman did say she wanted to take the next few seasons into as much as detail as possible. So most likely season 2 will be based on the third volume and season 3 will be on volume 4. And who knows the fifth and final volume is going to be released next year sometime so who knows if we might get a 4th and final season.
Watching you two fall in love with this show without losing any of the hilarious, catty commentary has been so fun. I get the initial cynicism but damn this show just subverts all the Bury Your Gays bullshit, doesn’t it? 🥰 As a queer person who figured it out later in life, this story means SOOOOOO much to me and I am so happy we have this slice of representation out in the world now. Tell ALL the gay stories; they’re all worth telling!!!!
1. Laughing so hard at you guys being like "yeah, but maybe the animations just mean *friendship*" about the only straight couple on the show. How many times have we gotten that when there's queer chemistry on a show 😂😂
2. Definitely teared up when Nick just told Charlie what had happened with Imogen. Queer love is not inherently more prone to drama or miscommunication, and shows so often act like it is.
3. Cannot wait for episode 6, it's my personal favourite!
I really love the development in your reactions. You are only on episode five and you are already so soft for the show and admitting it has already gotten beyond your expectations and they misjudged it. I also love that you didn't take Nick's talk with Imogen at the end as Nick saying "I'm gay, that's why I can't be with you" (like many other reactors did), but for what it actually was about expectations to be just somebody who you aren't, regardless of sexuality.
My favorite episode is actually the next one, so I really can't wait to see you react to it.❤️
Part of Tao's 'interpretive dance' is the 'drunken giraffe' -- the dance that The Doctor (#11) taught a bunch of kids at a wedding.
You were very good at bring up questions that were answered in the next scene. I have watched these scenes a couple of thousand times by now. Really enjoy watching the two of you and your reactions.
That's also the sign of a very well paced, well scripted show, where it can anticipate the questions its viewers have and answers them in good time :)
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU GUYS TO REACT TO THIS EPISODE AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT AND YOU GUYS ARE MY FAV PEOPLE THAT HAVE REACTED TO HEART STOPPER, CANT WAIT FOR MORE! ❤😊
This episode was soooo charming to me!
LOL at the imitation of Tao's hair😆 And whenever there are the cartoony thingies--somebody is def crushing. Love this show so much!
Seeing how this show has slowly stolen your hearts with each episode is so lovely to watch 🥰 Can't wait for the next reaction.
I love watching you guys react to this show. Started out the same being cynical and skeptical about it but by episode 3 I fell head over heels in love with everything about this show. I truly am looking forward to you watch the last 3 episodes, especially the next one.. Happy Pride!
Loved the reaction and thoughts! There are currently 4 graphic novels (with a 5th coming next year) as well as a few novellas with the characters. The first season of the show ends pretty much exactly where book 2 ends plot-wise, so there’s definitely enough material for 2 more seasons.
Not prepared for Charlie's ed storyline 😢
@@canny_linguist Minor SPOILERS but there’s this scene in book 3 or 4 (I think 4 but I’m not totally certain) where Nick is talking to his mom about Charlie and she’s telling him about how he should be there for him but he might also need more help than Nick alone is capable of giving and it’s such a beautiful scene. I hope it ends up being included in the show because I know Olivia Coleman and Kit Connor will do it so much justice and it will be so good for the children watching the show to have.
@@lizzienorton5154 Read 'em all (twice) already 🤓 if the scene you're talking about isn't included it would be a huge disservice to Alice's story tbh
@@canny_linguist Totally agree! I didn’t read them until after the show was announced, but I’ve read them all once on my own and at least a few more times over the shoulders of friends I’ve been lending them too and that scene always gets me. I know they’ve toned things (mostly the language used) down a bit for a younger audience with the show (and i feel like charlies self harm had been mentioned by book 2?), but they definitely hint toward his ed by the end of s1 and I think we can trust Alice to stay true enough to the events of books 3 and 4 in the show.
@@lizzienorton5154 Ngl what Nick actually said to Harry was a billion times better in the books 😂 and Tori - "Pathetic little man" 😎
There is plenty of content from the comics for multiple seasons, but Alice has said they have ideas for up to five seasons (so far) if it were to go that long. This season covered the first two volumes of the comics and I believe season 2 will focus on volume three alone, as they start to get longer and cover heavier subject material. I’ve loved watching your journey with this show, especially the emotional connections you had with this episode. Looking forward to the remaining videos! Once you finish the season, you should check out Tobie Donovan’s (Isaac) behind-the-scenes vlogs, they give great insight into the show and also the cast members themselves.
And tiny spoiler: nick and charlie do get a dog😆
"...or he'll friendzone Charlie..." *GASP* *SQUEAK* NO! *HANDS TO FACE!* .. my exact Heartstopper mood
I love your reaction to it almost as much as the episode itself. ❤
At first I felt a bit supid for loving it so much, after all - they just sort of talked? But it's so well done. No unnecessary drama, just honest communication under difficult circumstances. Other shows really conditioned me to always expect the worst for everyone.
Also, Nick giving Charlie that hug is such a powerful moment to me.
Always fun watching your comments - especially when you're guessing what's going to happen next and get surprised. An interesting story point from the books, and not in show is that Tau thinks he's the one who leaked Charlie's sexuality, which forced him to come out the previous year, resulting in all the bullying. Theories abound on how this makes him overprotective of Charlie and the wider effects and stronger reactions of watching a friend get abused.
more filming in the morning! This was great guys, you're adorable and I loved your thoughts
At 22:20 Nick’s ‘confession’ to Imogen is cut in this review, his following words are « your real personality has been buried inside of you for a very long time ». These are practically the exact same words Simon’s mother tells her son when he comes out to her in the movie Love, Simon. She tells him he has ‘held his breath’ (buried his real personality) ‘for a very long time’ . That ‘incubation period’ is a voyage to hell for all gays. These are very sad years. Coming out helps lift those dark clouds.
my favorite thing about your reactions to this show is that every time you make a wish for the show, it freaking delivers and then some! lol Heartstopper is the LGBTQ+ content that we've all needed in our lives for some time, to heal our queer trauma and I'm so glad it's finally here (and being renewed for 2 more seasons!). Happy Pride! ❤️🏳️🌈
What were you saying about our date?
"I think you need sometime to grieve".
So smart, I didn't even think about that!
I love your reactions. Especially your progression from being a bit skeptical at first to being SO SOOOO invested. It's great that you're taking the time to really enjoy the important moments and then pause afterwards to discuss. Can't wait for the next one!
Taos hair is the way it is because he grew it out in support of Elle because she kept on getting suspended because of her hair length. Later when she moved schools he started curling it so he wouldnt get suspended
Loved his birthday gift. So beautiful and meaningful his comment about it being his favorite day ever didn’t hurt.
This is also my favourite episode of the season, and I'm was glad to see you guys just glued to the screen at the scenes I was.
I loved the bit with Nick listening in on Charlie and Tao's conversation, and the slight panic in his eyes as he thinks Charlie might out him (even in private and to just one friend), and the relief and sadness that Charlie kept his secret. I also appreciate at the beginning of the episode how Nick agrees to the date with Imogen and moments later completely forgets about it when Charlie brings up his birthday. But when Harry brings up the date, he immediately recognizes it conflicts with the bday. Ugh you can see how much I've analyzed every aspect of just how much Nick likes Charlie and being with Charlie. It's a secret, but he doesn't hide Charlie, as they don't stop talking to each other, seeing each other, or hanging out with each other. And I love that.
I’ve been watching these reactions with a big smile! It’s cute watching you guys fall in love with the story… A good steady progression! 🫶🏾
oh, I love watching this show with you guys! really looked forward to seeing your take on this episode!
i love it - there is just a lot of charavter growth here, and a lot of expert avoidence of tropes. I love how this show kinda has you expecting bad things and miscommunication to happen all the time, but instead we get emotional maturity and honesty.
and yes. it wrecked me too.... 😢❤
Imogen has no filter, but she’s a go-getter who puts herself out there, gets ridiculed by much older audience, and is generally a nice kid, not an ahole.
I agree !!! Nick is on another level of maturity. Literally in every iconic Nick’s dialogue scene, there is no background music, only pure dialogue. That’s how impactful and inspiring his words are. You guys give the best reaction everrr ^^
14:45 "what's happened to imogen?" "her dog died " 🤣
One has been quite invested in the show and their relationship. It is everything you could want from a show. Alex's hair does look amazing and you're both looking incredible. I can't wait to see your reaction to Episode 6: Girls.
This ep is amazing, but the next one... girl... is AMAZING! I cant wait to see your reaction.
PS: I love how you guys started the serie making jokes, and not very engaged, but now you're really really snapped up.
“I think Nick will come out to Imogen first”
* Nick comes out to Imogen last *
You 2 are such a joy and your reaction are priceless. By the way, Alex’s haircut/style is👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This was such a pivotal beautiful moment in there relationship. It’s also nice to see nick take the lead instead of allowing Charlie to.
I just loooove y'all humor and commentary! I reviewed Heartstopper too, and I just LOVED it, and I can't wait for season 2!
It's really nice to see how your thoughts have changed since the first episode. Doesn't mean your opinions at the time were wrong or invalid, but by now it's a lot clearer to see what the show is going for, and that is telling a happy queer story where bad things can happen, but the focus is on joy rather than misery.
With each new reaction, I can't wait to see the next one... but at the same time, I don't want your Heartstopper reactions to end.
I hope you will react to other shows, like Young Royal or Skam.
A reaction worth telling ❤ You guys are so great! 😊
I CANNOT WAIT FOR YOU TO SEE THE NEXT EPISODE!!!!
Thanks. That was really fun and I like how you balance show content with comments. The sound is much better on this one too!
I'm glad you two liked this episode as much as I did. The communication here is pretty impeccable. I hope people can learn a bit from it, and maybe even help their own relationships by embracing the importance of good communication.
Love your reactions, especially love the comic conversation and wit between you both 🤣e.g. I am the Creative Director!
ALEX - absolutely 😍😍😍 the new haircut. it takes the bangs of my hair to grow to that length. SO JEALOUS
episode 5 by far is my absolute favorite. it’s the first time nick and charlie tell each other that they like each other. heart 💙💛 stopped 🛑‼️
Love your reaction to this episode. You guys are so much fun with your responses. Thanks.
The two of you are just amazing. You both are rare, unicorns of inspiration and kindness and positivity and joy. I am so glad the universe connected you too and that you’re sharing your dynamic with the world. Heart stopper is an amazing show and you bring even more meeting and representation and understanding to it while demonstrating a friendship that is beyond love and fun. Thank you for sharing all this.
Just rewatching again while I patiently wait for the next video 😄 I can so relate to Nick's "I wish I'd known then what I know now". It took me 36 long frustrating years to figure out my sexuality (I'm asexual). There was no queer representation when I grew up, no one at school was openly queer, no one in my family is queer (as far as I know).
I'm really happy a lot of youngsters these days learn all about different sexual identities online so they hopefully they won't take so many years to figure it out. I don't wish that on anyone.
Although I'm sure they all still struggle with it, just being able to find communities online might help them come to term with it easier, maybe?
Probably my favourite reaction of yours so far. Love your observations and humour. Keep up the great work 🤗
I'm sooooo surprised you are watching this series so slowly lol I watched it 4 times in the first 2 weeks.
I really enjoy watching you two talk about the show. I have been waiting for the next episode and now I will be waiting anxiously for the next one!
Great reaction video. Love that you can own up to the fact that it has won you over. Now you see why everyone was losing their shit over this show. :D I personally love episode 5 and episode 8. And yes, Alice Oseman has written books 3 and 4 and also part of a 5th. My hope is that she'll flesh out the content to give us one book per season, but we'll have to wait and see!!
I already liked you guys, but then you said you hate Monopoli so now I adore you 😂 Loved your reaction to this episode, I'm glad the show has finally won your hearts ❤️ prepare for the next one, it's just as cute and heartwarming!
I am just jealous of the friendships in this show. Romance is always elusive and getting support from society is always difficult but if we are lucky, we get good friends.
Alex!!, you little Grinch, your heart is growing lol Loved this. Best reaction to this series yet
Olivia Colman just got a Children’s and Family Emmy award for her Outstanding Guest Appearance in Heartstopper. So did Kit (lead role) and Heartstopper itself.
even though i'm american... nandos is referenced so much.... that i kind of want to eat there... but it's just chicken... i can't see what the fuss is all about... but yeah... when she said nandos for a date i nearly died laughing...
It’s nice to see somebody experiencing the same emotions I went through watching this
Good job with the lighting, guys. Another great reaction! 😊🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Definitely one of my favorite episodes. While things might not play out as perfectly in real life, I do thing that the show provides good examples of communication and honesty. Nick's soft comming out to Imogen is also one of my favorite scenes.
Oh, there is more in the comics, like for another 3 seasons. The last one isn't even finished yet.
Plus there are like other 3 novellas, This Winter, Solitaire, and Nick and Charlie
Great episode and reaction. Love you guys and the hair and clothes are fab! 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Happy pride month!
I can't be the only one who feels bad for Imogen when she's asking Nick on a date. I was so worried her heart would be broken when he revealed he doesn't wanna be in a relationship with her.
I'm glad it turned out happy at the end, almost cried.
I can't wait till you watch the next episode, it's my favorite
Imogen to me is no different from any other character: a teen who likes somebody and is just trying to figure it out
When you guys said about Tao's one dance move looked like one of those inflatable things they have in front of car dealerships in America--LMAO! They're so weird. They must have them in the UK somewhere.
I’m really enjoying watching you guys react to this show! I watched it the first time by myself (and immediately rewatched it), and then watched it with someone who didn’t seem to care, so I feel like I have nowhere for my obsession to go. Watching you guys feels like some solidarity! One thing you haven’t talked about up until now (haven’t watched your 6 & 7 videos yet) is the music. What do you think of it? Once I rewatched the show and couldn’t get enough I started listening to the playlist on Spotify and found myself fully crying at the end of it. So good!
I had to giggle at the fact Nick only knew Charlie a few months yet he gets invited to meet Nellie, him and Imogen have been freidns for years but she's never met Nellie before.
For me this was Imogen's turning point, she took what Nick said to heart, she didn't say anything to their friends group which would have casued Nick issues.
The line Nick says "I wish I'd known you earlier" was acutally used in the graphic novel in relation to Charlie being bullied, he wished he had known him back then and maybe have been able to help in some way. Maybe if Nick had met Charlie instead of Ben maybe Charlie wouldn't have such a negative view on himself. The fact Ben kept them secrert to the point of ignoring him at school unless they were alone has left lasting damage.
Yep. The internalized homophobia was horrid with Ben.
now i don't remember if this is a fan theory or if it was confirmed by alice (the author/creator of the books/comics and the scriptwriter), but tao's hair is like that because he wanted to be supportive of elle before she moved to higgs, but has it curled so it sticks to the "chin length hair" rule
That's a fan theory indeed, the actual reason is because Willoam Gao didn't look dorky enough with his natural hair as Tao. His hair was normal in the comic
when I first watched the Elle and Tao scene, I thought it meant that Elle is finally happy after so long. She came out, changed school, had to deal with a lot of stuff, but she's happy now. She was with their friends having fun and Tao was smiling for once lmao
Hair is on point for you both! Loving ur reactions!
