Squeeze have aged like wine. Their music still sound's fresh in 2024 and beyond.
A world class vocal on pitch and he doesn't sound like anyone else I can think of. Winning combination.
Standing up in a South London boozer, no special effects. Just their instruments and the songs they wrote. And their songs sounds pretty much like they did in the studio. Proper musicians, proper British songs. Long live Squeeze!!!
Yeah true but its in Islington

Did these people realize what they were a part of ? Best band in the world playing at your local...what I would give to have been there...Squeeze forever.
Yes, we did :)
Looking forward to seeing them in November in Edinburgh
At the time, no. But now yes. You tube and other platforms bring this back to the
Mainstream and subject to random social media comments
@@snipturn good show. mate..
You very rarely see Mr Tillbrook in any of these top guitarist lists produced by rock magazines but by jove what a talent. He should be in everyone of the above mentioned lists.
Your comment is one I see time and time again when it comes to recognition.
I remember seeing squeeze in 1982 in the Liverpool empire, one of the best concerts I saw there, I also saw Kate Bush and Genesis there in 1980. What memories of those days.
Top band, great songs, proper venue…wish I’d been there!!
Wow. The luckiest pub of all time ever in the universe.
It’s July 8th, 2022. I’m siting in Phoenix, AZ, crying. Because i just watched one of the best concerts, live shows, whatever you want to call it, I’ve ever seen. By one of my most favored musical groups. I can’t begin to tell you what this band means to me and the discovery I made on this night only deepens my love and respect for their talents and gifts. Thanks for the privilege, thanks for the music, thanks for the show. May you play until forever.
It’s August 2nd 2022 and sitting in Spain listening to this for the first time

Tears in my eyes
The sound track of my youth
I hope they were tears of joy. Thank you for your comments and I'm glad you liked the video. It was a real treat.
@@trevorstern9772 I'm glad you enjoyed it too. Be sure to watch again...and again :)
Pulling Mussels is one of the greatest pop songs ever written.. I can't imagine how good it would have been to be at this gig.
Wow. This is really really good. They sound fantastic. Great guitar playing and perfect vocals. They sound like they're 25 years old.
One of the few bands i would travel to watch live. Fabulous.
What a setlist, classic after classic. Viva la Squeeze !
i love that they don't short-change the crowd. World stage to pub stage. It doesn't matter if you love what you do. Outstanding band!
Have to agree with your comment 110%
In decades to come the Squeeze body of songs will be recognized as some of the greatest songs ever written 👍🎶
Contentious in the best possible way
Good God!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastic. Great sound and performance. Amazing to see a quality band in a pub like this. Thanks for sharing.
Oh what fun this must have been - so glad someone's posted it. Fabulous band, Definitely Rock and Roll Hall of Famers!
London boozer, squeeze, brilliant music, and copious amounts of beer does it get any better. God I miss those days 😢 What a band!
We had and lost the same thing here in Sydney about 20 years ago...poker machines (fruit machines) took over...BUT if you look hard enough and travel, it can still be found....keep looking my friend...
God I wish I’d been there!
@@Warpedsmac dead right mate, Sydney was fantastic in the 80's for live music.
Thank you for this. Brilliant band. This is a lucky crowd.
I'm always struck by how relaxed his body is when he performs, playing beautifully and belting out those amazing vocals. All the greats are like this and he stands proudly among them. Can't wait to get to England some day and pay respects to the mighty Hope & Anchor, proud stomping ground of the Stranglers, Squeeze and so many others!
One of the many great things about Squeeze is they can play in a pub somewhere or on the stage at The Hollywood Bowl and feel at home in both places! Always loved Squeeze!
Squeeze and the Jam. The thinking man's bands of the late '70s and early '80s.
Squeeze, the real deal. Melodic pop, just like The Kinks. Immortal music. And downtoearthguys.
Ooooooohhhhhhhh my days, after a long hot day at work, one found this. . . After 5 lagers one is singing his head off 👏👏👏👏👏👏, simply outstanding, cheers from thy bottom of thy earth, new🥝🥝🥝zealand, 🍺🍺🍺🍺
That was bloody wonderful, cheers snipturn
I'd have paid a fortune to have been there on the night. Just the best band ever. Lyrical genius. God bless them all.
I feel the same way, watching this in 2022 here in the USA. What a phenomenal repertoire of songs they wrote. It must have a thrill of a lifetime to see Squeeze in such a small pub setting.
This deserves many more views. Squeeze are cool (for cats) 😂
Wow...unbelievable, what I'd have given to be there.
What A Band. Perfect pop, and played so well 'live'. Fantastic. And the songs - oh what songs!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 one of the best ever...love Hourglass and Another Nail in my Heart...so many great songs , and memories...Long Live Squeeze 👏👏👏👏👏
This just reminds me how special it is to be able to enjoy music live - what an amazing band with wonderful songs
Watching this fabulous little pub-band, it's strange to think about the first time I met Glenn. It was at a hippy crash-pad not a mile from this very riverside establishment. He was probably about thirteen, sitting on a mattress, playing old Beatles songs amongst others on a little classical guitar. I remember thinking to myself . . . "Christ, this kid can really sing!" Now fifty years have gone by and it feels as though things have gone full-circle. So it goes . . . .
Wow! What a great memory to have! Thanks for sharing dude!
that is a beautiful story
He's such a nice fella in person as well.
@@johndunne6639 Yes is he is and Chris!
A truly brilliant memory to have.
Knowing a genius so young
God that made me cry at 63...God they were part of my life .. Awesome guys Awesome 👍
Good good grief!!!! Just magnificent!!!! Thanks for this INCREDIBLY good upload!!!! Bad staging, limited PA, probably not a lot of foldback, lighting? nope....JUST TALENT. Thanks men of Squeeze.
There were no foldbacks, just the guitar amps and the PA.
@@snipturn Indeed..none at all...!!!
The Most BEAUTIFUL BAND....EVER!!! x (Even McCartney said it) x
I am a 79 yr old guitar player and music fan that Started loving Elvis and then THE BEATLES then Led Zep and Rory Gallagher dismissed anything from the Punk era . Recently after noticing the guitar solo on ' Another Nail' and started listening to Sqeeeze. I now think the Song writing rivals that of Lennon and Macartney and this live session in a pub is incredible. I rate the Guitar playing of Glen Tilbrook and love the work of Tilbrook and Difford together.
I was living in Lewisham at the time and I never even knew. Opportunity missed :(
One of my all time favorite bands, brilliant songs, Glen Tilbrook is a great guitarist, singer, the whole band is amazing !! Argybargy is one of the best albums!!
EVER
This is nuts. At the weekend I saw Squeeze and Madness play to a capacity (13,000) crowd in 3Arena in Dublin. The people in this bar were ridiculously lucky. Great upload.
Terrific how they can still put it out like this 30 years later
The diversity of Squeeze shows no bounds!.. Pub? No problem, Larger Venues? No problem... I am happy I came across this!
Stunning as usual.... Squeeze the soundtrack to my life. Always there always producing great music. Love 'em!
Oh man, how precious! Squeeze in a South London pub, bloody priceless! Saw them in Seattle coupla years back and they're brilliant - I'm from near Clapham so Up The Junction means a lot to me.
What a great version of Goodbye Girl. Don't know how these dudes didn't take over the world.
Music is a filthy business
Their music take me back to a time in which there was always happiness...In addition, their music is so unique that they defy all logic...Don't pigeon hole Squeeze into only 1 music genre category, because they cannot fit into one. Amazing music and vocals 👍🏼
The sound track of my youth in west London, there are tears hearing these songs
West of london..too
What a fabulous bunch of South London boys. Squeeze, the only band that could make a gig at Maddison Square Garden sound like a night out at a South London pub!
Most underrated band of all time?
Carry on Glenn! Sing a long. The most underrated duo. I love u Glenn!
The most underrated duo you’re so right I love when Chris comes in they blend wonderfully together even though they don’t sound alike when they sing together like someone else’s heart off of East side story it’s so clean and different pitches
I can't stop watching this, wish I'd have been there 👍🎸
So do I - fantastic band, great musicianship, what a gig ! And Glenn knows to play that guitar
I know what you mean, just shared this with a Portuguese friend, lord knows what she’ll make of it, but my god…
I'm just starting to realise, far too late, what a remarkable and important band Squeeze are; really great to hear the vocals are still full of depth and puff - quality always endures.
It’s never too late. :)
I think you knew the first time you heard them like the rest of us. Their body of work, my God thank you
I’m going to squeeze this month in the US! There’s still time 😊
Christ Alive, how amazing is Glenn.
Charlton's favourite son .........
Excellent , Squeeze absolute Legends ! i wish i could have been there, what a gig
Absolutely fabulous. Would have loved to been there. Great guys playing Great music. No autotune or gimmicks. I remember trying to figure out these cords and licks on my strat when they 1st came out. Thats why I became a singer lol. Thanks for this clip.
I wish we had UA-cam back then, these Chords would have come much easier.
The Greenwich Beatles. Regulars in this pub and pubs around the Greenwich area. Especially in their formative years.
Love Em !
Best concert I saw last year.
I'm glad I was young and at pendeford high school 1975 to 1980 and was happy when punk, new wave, new romantics and 2 tone came out .But I really liked Squeeze .
Absolutely mesmerizing! I've loved them since the early '80's. Listen to them every day!
Pulling muscles is an absolutely amazing song - to this day one of the best tunes of all time in my opinion - it's just so well written
This is fantastic. Thank you sharing.
Absolutely Brilliant , followed their songs all my life . What great songs and written with meaning . Fantastic .Thank you for giving people years of pleasure !!!!
Chis Difford. Nice man
I danced with him under a lunar eclipse. Ahhhh heaven.
Just saw them in Dublin this weekend, time hasn't diminished this bands talent, have to agree, one of the best bands in the world
Damm at the local pub. She's gone electric. What harmonies and lyrics. To cool for cats. ✌️🤘🇦🇺
Real band with real music written by real songwriters. They might actually make it out of the pub.
There was only one Marc bolan
@@barrypotter5751 There was only one Barry Potter and he was a mate who used to run a plumbing biz in Charlton. Rock on Barry!
Hi pretentious name! We meet again so soon? This time we agree though.
@@marcbolan1818 did he sing metal guru in the loo

They sound great!
I was around at the time of the Punk explosion and by golly Punk although not all for me what it did was break the strangled hold of record labels and producers. Thus allowing Bands the Squeeze etc to go public and let's face it Cool for Cats is Timeless.
What a band and Glenn is amazing guitarist and singer and Chris for a small pub gig these guys are brilliant
Who gives this a thumbs down? Was it not intimate enough for you? Could you not get to the bar? Jeez, some people.
Probably trying to watch the game and the band was too loud.
Outstanding and absolutely Brilliant. So many memories come flowing back just in this one Video. best evening in I have had in a long time even if it was just for an hour
Thank you, glad you liked it.
How good is this 👍
Amazing.
Only just seen this. What an incredible live band. Awesome
What a gem this is to watch wish I had been there
I don't remember what I did that year on my 34th birthday but I wish I'd of been watching this!!!!
What can you say!!!! Absolutely outstanding!!!
Each song a classic from a time when music made sense with no bad language!
Man! They just keep getting better!
These guys sound perfect in the corner of a pub, that says a lot.
Just seen this. Absolutely brilliant. Fantastic band with proper songs. Thanks Squeeze.
What a beautiful way to spend my Tuesday morning absorbing the intimacy and talent of these beloved brilliant songwriters. Long live the sweet sounds and harmonic vibrations of The Squeeze!
It’s 2021 and we’re all up the junction now!!
Remembering how things used to be 🤔. Pop to your local for a sing along with Squeeze and meet your pals And get a pint. Come home with a slight headache, great memories and new friends. Now.. Probably come home with covid 😩😩
Just brilliant, heard this track on the radio this morning for the first time in years and the memories all came flooding back
Wow! Absolutely brilliant. I can't believe I know the words to every song. Thanks Glenn, Chris and the band.
Wow. Just wow

Music in it's purest form.

One word, brilliant!!!!
One very cool band!!

Wow. Just how good are they. Proper music in a proper venue. Brilliant
Glenn is a Charlton boy, through and through
Superb, Tilbrook an amazingly talented songwriter!
That was awesome!!! Thanks for sharing. I saw them during Labor Day weekend in Sept of 2019 here in Milwaukee and they still sound incredible. Glenn and Chris are timeless.
A rare, memorable moment in history for all there.
What an absolute pleasure to watch this set of talented musicians and song writer's, just wish I was there fantastic, story of my youth ☺👌
Talent and genius abound, nothing more to add
