I saw them at the Liverpool empire I’m pretty sure it was 1981 not long after seeing genesis duke tour there and Kate Bush just before them, I’m a lucky man.
I agree I was a freshman in college.I'm a musician and my roomate was floored because I had this album but also Voivod,Slayer, then also Steve Miller. He couldnt believe I like alot of different music. This is such a sing along album.
Thank you. And now I have tears in my eyes, the best music & the best of times. Blessings ever to you and all those you love, from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
I’m so with you. I still listen to my 80’s music religiously. I had tickets to see Squeeze in my town yesterday and wasn’t able to go. I am going to sad about this for a good while🥲
Fantastic, thank you so much for sharing. That's one of the best versions of Pulling Mussels (From the Shell) I've ever heard. When this lineup plays together, magic happens.
Wow. During '80s i began life with Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden....dipping back to those times I missed a lot of quality stuff - bloody good stuff like this
Just a really good, solid band. Two great classic tracks with a very good performance. Tempted was so good! As a drummer myself, I appreciate this guys chops.
I was never much of an ‘80’s fan, but saw these guys open for Hall n Oates in 2021. They stole the show. They were way more “rock n roll” than just this pop stuff. I really enjoyed them.
@@ThomasPBlack-es6wihe won’t sound like the studio version of tempted because Paul Carrick did the vocals on it. I agree Glen always sounds great though.
@@501sqn3 Random crap? I think you need to go and check out what you’re saying, Paul Carrack does the lead vocals on this squeeze hit, I was 16 when the song came out and bought the album. The original video for tempted is actually on UA-cam go check it out and then come back and tell me I’m still talking random crap. What an annoying thing to say to someone when you don’t know 💩yourself. By the way it was the idea of elvis Costello to use carrick as he was producing their album at the time.
True! I was at a Sammy Hagar show last year and the guy in front of me had his phone on a selfie stick recording the whole damn show. It was glowing in my face and at set break, I told him to kindly stop. He did
Like I’d died and gone to heaven: Squeeze’s Gilson Lavis and Elvis Costello’s Pete Thomas on the same bill - both in their fighting prime. Like Ali / Frazier! Atlanta Georgia. Fox Theater. 1981.
You know, I've heard people say they were mediocre live. I've never seen them, but every recorded live performance I've seen is great, this one included.
40 some frickin years and to this day I can't be on vacation somewhere and not just break into "you wish you had a motor boat,..." or some line from Misadventure "stole my wallet with a picture of my missus,...." Dudes could write.
Saw them at the Masonic temple in Toronto in 1980 and as a musician, they were absolutlely spot on and if I closed my eyes I felt I was listening to the East Side Story Record!
NIce version - Check out "Live At The Regal Theatre, Hitchin / 1982" on UA-cam - has the additonal backing vocals; "Seaside, Seaside!" , "Deckchair, Deckchair!" & "Starfish, Starfish!" - Smile, go on I dare you :)
What are the little blue boxes on people in the audience? Their own shoulders, on hats, they look like little personal devices but, I was alive in 1989 and I have no clue.
What always pi$$es me off about these live videos is that the movie makers cut away to crowd scenes instead of concentrating on close-ups of the actual musicians and their skills. As a musician, I'd be showing camera views of guitar necks, drums, bass, keyboards and the band members performing. Bad dancers and people clapping add nothing to the performance.
Way ahead of their time.
No one can take this from Glen ! A superb moment and a great song. Prime in it’s time !!
The Beatles had George Martin and Ringo Starr. Is there more to add ?
Difford, Tillbrook, Jools magnificent. Love Squeeze🍻
Keith Wilkinson - but most importantly, Gilson.
one of the most underrated British bands ever .Seen them live 4 times and always class .
I saw them at the Liverpool empire I’m pretty sure it was 1981 not long after seeing genesis duke tour there and Kate Bush just before them, I’m a lucky man.
Just sensational. Glenn’s vocal in Tempted is outrageously good
Other +-50 year olds finding this today still know every word in Tempted?
One might say it's a Gen X Catechism
This convinces me that Ours was the last cool generation. ⏰ I’m instantly 17, beautiful and fearless.

Amen to that. Late 70s early 80s great time to be a young teenager with great music.

WOW. Amazing version of Pulling Mussels. The vocals are perfect and both solos rip.

Glenn Tilbrook is one of the most underrated pop musicians ever. What a talent!
Yes
It took me many years, but I'm a big fan now! Grew up in the 80's with these songs, but now finally finding a big appreciation for them.
Glenn Tillbrook kills it 🎤 💯 🎸
His voice sounded so clear
this song never gets old!

Gilson Lavis… fantastic
He's tight as... a drum. ! . 👌🏻
Boiling hot day, Jools is wearing a jacket and a turtleneck.

I have to say.. I just really enjoyed this two song performance. He sounds just like the studio version. Real talented.

Wow, thanks so much for this awesome footage, hugely talented band!
Outstanding live version for both songs.
The lyrics are absolutely brilliant.
Pure musical talent! No gimmicky technology. 👊🇨🇦
Never left my cassette player for a year

This (Pulling Mussells is a masterpiece! Great performance as well 👍🏻
That's some beautiful songwriting and dude is not looking at his hands playing those jazzy sweet beatles chords.
Love that drummer!
Gilson Lavis - legend.
What fun! Really at the top of their game here. 👍👍❤❤
Great song, Tilbrook nails it as ever
These guys are brilliant....What a great moment in time.....
Lovely shot from behind the singer with balconies visible
I still can't make out where this is.
Great voice
Just wow.
Look! No phones!! People actually enjoying the music
No phones, but weird hats.. Maybe that adds to the enjoyment.. 🕺

Wish I had been there. Great fan
so good...!
There's that TAMA 20" 10 tensioner bass drum again....very good.
Loved them days! I was 21...
THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!
SIMPLY the BEST
At 7:13 in, that is some fine hollerin' Love Squeeze and happy they are coming to Nashville at the Ryman!
Starts off right with the vocals BOOM. Always a great song.

Good band
Drummer reminds me of Liberty Devito, And thats a compliment!
Debbie, this old time London.
I love that toothpaste song too don’t ya know. And Jules on keys of course!
How much to rent the apartments with the balconies right there with a close view of the stage?

Paul's version is great but there is nothing like hearing it from the guy who wrote it!
Chris wrote the words, Glen, the music. But Paul just borrowed it. Maybe they thought he was more soulful. Fine with Glen...perfectly fine.
Massive squeeze fan but did laugh at 7:40 when I heard jools BV’s haha a little flat and sounds just like his speaking voice
Paul left already?
Want to go back?
yes please
