Hello, Thank you very much for the helpful video, I watched it several times :). I use the OM1 also mostly with 300f4 and 1.4TC for birds, but I would like to know what basic setting you use. Do you shoot in purely manual mode, or do you use the A or S position like I do?

Hi, I should have mentioned I always shoot Manual for birds so I have maximum control. I can control Aperature and Shutter Speed with the dials. Auto ISO controls exposure but why you need a button for exposure compensation when conditions dictate.

Thanks for the great video. I’ve had my OM-1 for about five months but limited use due to weather conditions in Brisbane this year. I have the OM 100-400, the 300 f4 PRO and x1.4tc. I’m still working through best settings for me and yours comes closest to how and what I shoot. So thanks. Would you change the settings much for the 100-400? Also would love to know what settings you have for CA-F centre priority.
Too many of the videos are based on the 150-400 which is out of my league for price and weight. Thanks again.

Thanks for the positive comment. I have no personal experience with the 100-400 but cannot see why it is different. It does not have synch IS so important to keep shutter speed up. My camera is set to center priority but when using bird detection I dont think it matters. The 300F4 with th 1.4TC lives on my camera as I find no hit to performance. I do have the 2XTC but it does have a hit to performance so I only use it on a really bright day.

Excellent video! My experience with the OM1 has been similar. One quick question. I too set the lever to change from all points AF to a single point AF (so as to avoid interference from branches), however, I noticed that the preset lever function changing the AF points does not operate when in any of my custom settings, i.e. it does not work in C1 through C4. What must I do when setting a custom setting to have the lever function changing the AF points also operate while in a custom mode? Thank you. PJI

Hi, The way to do this I set the position 1 all points active than set set the lever to position 2 and change it to single point active . Than set the C1 ( or which one you are assigning to) and it should now remember this setting anytime you go to that custom settings. This article talks about setting custom settings. Similar to what I use but not exactly.
