"absolutely unnaceptable" is tad over the top isn't it, it's a free to play videogame. It's not good enough, things like this should have been picked up on during testing. I'd be interested to know how it compares to 343's previous Halo titles, or is it unique to Infinite being a free to play that they are data scrapping everything for analytics.

@@larssonk22 Poor argument. There seriously is zero reason for the game to take gigs worth of data to play a match or load a menu. For contrast CoD Warzone which is also free to play, tracks an average data usage of only 175mb per hour, even supporting much larger map and player count.

What i want to know is how 343 managed to get awful lagback while playing split screen in offline mode. Congrats 343 for this groundbreaking achievement.
Because splitscreen uses almost double the CPU/GPU draw. It's always going to perform worse than regular play. Also, Infinite doesn't have splitscreen yey or are you talking about MCC?

To make you understand, as a programmer, this kind of mistake is literally one that would most likely not make you pass a UAT on any software project whatsoever.
I'd say "i'm surprised that anyone allowed this to be published". But then i think back of game development and how, despite all the sympathy i can have for all the people working in that cursed industry, companies are NEVER held accountable for blatant mistakes.
The smart ones leave first. Whether it's a country falling into socialism/communism/authoritarianism, or a profitable industry that get progressively more draconian, the smart ones leave first.
I heard an announcement from 343 or a spokesperson that the "main menu makes things hard to adjust content" or something along those lines, to this day it's still mindboggling that no one bothered to at the very least fix or change the damn thing.
@@jackdandy3579 that's most likely because it's built on a framework and the framework itself needs to be fixed first. I can understand it happening, but it's a little embarassing that it comes from a company that's gigantic and backed by one of the biggest IT companies in the world.
The more I learn about Infinite, the more glad I am that I uninstalled it. Although I did enjoy replaying the Campaign every month or so.

I remember when WoW legion came out in 2016 and on THE EXACT DAY my internet connection shut down for an entire day. My brother offered me to play per Hotspot from his mobile data and after playing for 8 hrs it only wasted not even 400MB. Its kinda weird to imagine that Halo wastes that amount for just a few games.
@sly dankass Not in the EU. We have strict data protection laws and things like this need to be front and center and not hidden in terms of use policies.
I mentioned this on the discord and my post got removed and sending messages was disabled for me, mentioned it on waypoint too but it never got a response.
The UI menu elements are clearly not local to the disk. Infinite’s menu is the equivalent to a website (where everything is downloaded). I bet if you cut off your xbox/pc from the internet - majority of the stuff on infinite’s menu won’t even load. Bungie’s halo games don’t need internet in order to function properly because everything was local to the disk in a complete package. 343i/Microsoft doesn’t know quality when it comes to halo and they never did. These issues never existed when bungie had halo and those are 10 year old games. Lastly the halo infinite engine is literally just a modified halo reach engine for the millionth time. 343i doesn’t know how to make halo. Halo 4 was a modified reach engine, H5 was a modified “h4 engine” (aka reach engine) and lastly infinite is a modified “h5 engine” which is the same modified “halo 4 engine” which is ultimately just the halo reach engine. 343i has a weird obsession with halo reach and that’s why they keep milking halo reach assets/animation and more because they suck at coming up with legit post halo 3 material. 343i just sucks at halo. That’s a fact with 11 years of proof.

That line is more true than you'd ever know.
Even till recently Infinite wouldn't even load the menu to customize armors and vehicles if I couldn't access the store. No connection to stats and the online store? No customizations. I could still play the game but the spartan would be the barebones default grey. For the time I ended up playing it I gave up trying to customize and ran around with default armor.
Not like there's anything else to actually use outside of the store since 343 fucked that up as well.

Try spending 10 minutes in Q for a 300ms ping match with inbuilt dsync after the games menu struggles to download a quarter of a GB of text and images over and over again.

Makes sense. For my first several games at launch, I had a crisp 70fps. maybe even 90 at times. But ever since the Tenrai event, I've barely been able to hold anything above 45. Like, what?

They put so much effort into making the main menu such a big scene with a bunch of highly detailed rooms that it's basically an entire typical Halo campaign level, I bet you the menus alone are half this fucking game's size
Wait, is this why the menu always takes so long to load? And nobody in at 343 fixed this glaring problem let alone noticed it at all? At this point, Microsoft needs to disband 343 and reorganize it from the ground up. There's obviously talent at the studio, but that talent has never been fully utilized due to constant mismanagement and will never be if something isn't drastically changed.
So to boil this down. Every time you load infinite it redownloads all of your armor configs, images, some other data, gametypes, etc etc
One way shorten your SSDs. That constant read & write.

Whenever I play Infinite it literarly slows down anything else outside of it, my browser takes like an hour to load, spotify takes like another hour to open & load & it takes forever to change the song, I also realized that when checking task manager it is using like 80-90% of my ram & cpu, its insane
This reminds me of the gta 5 loading screen where it would check something an outrageous amount of time.

Its one of the reasons i wont leave my hometown for now. Time warner from what im to understand is probably the worst internet company on the planet tho
@@dr._breens_beard I live in Mexico and sure internet companies have a "cap" as to how much internet a house can use per package, but it is a huge cap, like literally you need to be a complete company to hit that household cap and sure they will charge you more but at the same time they will request you to change to a company contract that raises the cap again to huge levels.

How much does it take for us to finally boycott this game? The lies, the lack of content, 343 saying the primary original halo fanbase is a threat to expanding to a broader audience, removing our color customization for garbage broken armor coatings, no game modes, but hell of a lot of useless microtransactions of which 40% consist of the colors red and black and let you spend thousands on this game yet its the smallest amount of game ive ever seen. Now the game is so poorly optimized that its using fucking GIGABYTES of data to play for an hour? This is the lowest of quality, the lowest of care. No one cares at 343 people we need to take ALL OT THIS GAMES MONEY AWAY. It doesnt matter if they have to do it like anthem they will just have to make a new halo game or update this piece of crap
This. All of this. I defended this game to hell and back (mostly the campaign tho) but even that ive lost all interest in. I just bought the dead space trilogy on steam cause i never played 1 and 2 and 3 i played awhile back on xbox. Im infinitely more excited to begin playing them than i am to think about returning to infinite. Even the mcc is a much less stressful experience (save for the way h2 anniversary runs on pc.. which is garbage sadly)
@@dr._breens_beard Funny thing is I uninstalled Dead Space on PC because I couldn't deal with the aiming issue. I hope you figure it out whether you're on controller or MnK, I believe there are workarounds. It was a very cool game. Ran better off the bat through Backwards Compatibility on Xbox though.

It's got a good campaign, and great gameplay for single and multi-player.
The game is missing a LOT of content. And the customization is iffy. But what is there is solid and fun.
I simultaneously want to hate on this game, and praise it for being both the worst and best Halo in a long time.
If this game had all its content, it would be absolute gold. But sadly, no.
@@sawdust8691 halo is just way behind. This engine revamp to make slipspace should have happened a decade ago. There are games that are from the same generatipn as halo 5 and back that are far more advanced, take elite dangerous for example, or planetside 2 and others. These games have absolutely massive scale and while im certainly not saying halo has to match the intense size of games like that i am saying that we should have more that just a handful of maps and more than just going around killing eachother. I see no reason that multiplayer spartans dont have a large scale pve encounters other than 343 doesnt want to expand the halo universe like that, they only want to make a meatgrinder arena thats cheap and easier to make. They dont want halo to ever have anything more or be anything more than just an arena and while its a crucial part of halo its not the only thing. Bungie, NOT that i love bungie or anything i dont, was clearly building up other aspects of halos universe other than just the arena shooter. Missions like long night of solace, game modes like invasion where its larger scale with objectives and at the time was not pve but easily could be brought in with pve aspects. 343 did put some attempt like spartan ops and halo 5 warzone firefight but couldnt monetize our playtime, and while other blunders around those game modes definately played a part in for example halo 4 spartan ops faling, the main cause for no pve or expanded universe information in game is that its too hard for 343 to do.

Is this being happening right now? I was planning reinstalling the game on my PC, but I’m worried about huge amount data that could affect my internet services.
I'm curious, is this strictly a PC issue or does this effect console as well? I know the recent CoD games will do this on console with the one graphic setting turned with the option to put a limit on it.
The cause is tied to every time you return to the main menu. It's very likely a problem for xbox as well

I have really good internet and still it barely loads for me. Yes, I have the Series S but still it should be more than enough power to load this game. I mean I literally bought it last year just to play Halo and I can't even play. I've been trying for an hour to reset my wifi and troubleshoot...

The strange thing is, this whole thing is not consistent. From what I've seen, there isn't a way to consistently replicate this if it doesn't already happen to you.
My best theory is maybe something to do with the system memory, but I'll take more solid theories to explain the inconsistency

@@NO-FILTER-EXPERT It's not just a 343 issue, all services under Microsoft use their Cloud service. Its why all Microsoft stuff on PC runs like ass compared to any counterpart, like Steam vs the Microsoft Store. Steam actually works

That being said, damn, that's no excuse for such a horrible user experience. Yeah, the multiplayer is free.
But let's be honest here, AT WHAT COST.
The over reliance of MTX, a game that still isn't fully finished, a very dull multiplayer experience that has grown stale quickly, and none of the core features that every previous title has come with, especially the Bungie ones.
No co-op, still a shitty customization, no earnable armor, you gotta buy that so there is essentially no way to flex anything at all. I mean like, you can only play the same few maps on the same fee game modes so often before it becomes mind numbingly dull. And then the "balance changes" that make casual matches boring and dull instead of just making a different sandbox so one game mode can be enjoyed and one can be competitive.
Like, they had years to work on this all, and then some with a year long delay, and it still is an unfinished mess.
Bungie made better games in less time that are still enjoyed to this day. Shit, the MCC is enjoyed as much as it is for a reason.
