The car itself is beautiful. The driving dynamics with the CVT ruin what could have been a great car. They should offer a regular automatic transmission , or at the very least, a 6 speed manual. I took a new Sentra out just before the pandemic landed, and the drive was really disappointing with the CVT (it sucked) . The salesman said they tweaked the CVT so that it mimics shifting a bit. If you gave it the beans , it would slightly mimic. If you drove like a typical economy car driver would drive, it would drain all life giving enthusiasm straight out of every pore of your body... Sad.

THANK YOU!!! The Sentra looks GREAT!!! We are heading down to Nissan this week to trade-in our wonderfully reliable, CVT-equipped 2007 Versa SL with 252,000 miles on the odo!!!
@@hialeahhigh I ride motorcycles. Enough of manual stuff for me. Manual is a thing of the past. I don't miss it at all. Especially in a traffic jam. CVT is OK. Not sure why ppl talk so much crap about it.
Our family's Nissan CVTs have been WONDERFULLY RELIABLE (2007 Versa, 2009 Altima, 2010 cube, 100% made-in-Japan 2013 Quest & 2014 Maxima)!!! Of course, we maintain them accordingly, changing the CVT fluid every 40-60K miles, etc. Recommended maintenance is critical to the longevity of any vehicle. Our '07 Versa SL (with Intelligent Key!) is still going strong at 252K miles. The cube 121K. Quest 96K. Maxima 85K. The Altima had 168K when we traded it in for a 2019 Alti SR. Absolutely no issues at all. I have a strong feeling all the comments parroted by CVT haters that I read everywhere online are pretty baseless. I heard there were issues with some earlier CVTs, but we haven't experienced any ourselves. I suspect owner neglect, or more likely, 'previous-owner/previous lessee neglect', may have much to do with it. Additionally, our Nissan service advisors have shared how Jiffy Lube and various shop mechanics have wrongly and fatally filled Nissan CVTs with conventional automatic transmission fluid. Wrong! Sadly, these cars need to be towed-in to the dealerships due to the ineptitude of idiot mechanics or automotive repair shops.
Nissan had a product renaissance in 1990 when they had the best line up of japanese cars , especially the z32 300zx, 240sx, maxima and sentra SER . And they were super reliable t too unlike recent nissans. I hope this recent revival with some great designs will also focus on improved reliability as well , which will ensure the sustainability of this once truly great car maker.
Just reading the comments should tell Nissan the real thing that will turn the company around is getting rid of the CVT. That’s the lone reason most people won’t buy a Nissan.
But them people say that but then probably still wouldn’t buy one they sell a lot of vehicles more vehicles in the us than Hyundai and Kia but they get so much praise, this cvt in the 2019 Altima and 2020 Sentra has all new programming for the d step technology so there’s no way you know how reliable it is, you can’t just write it off because older models had issues, for example everyone says that Hyundai and Kia made such a great cvt but it’s been out for 2 years how do you know it’s great? You don’t because it was just released and there’s already videos on UA-cam of people having Kia cvt failures one guy I saw only had like 1,200 miles on his soul and the cvt failed so you can’t praise one automakers cvt when you don’t know if it’s reliable but bash another’s for having issues 5+ years ago that just doesn’t make sense
Seth Little of it failed that early it probably was a flawed unit. Nissan CVT’s and their automatics in general have a shitty track record. Where as Hyundai and Kia have pretty dependable gearboxes. Not including the DCT.
Jovaughn Gueno more than one person the comments was filled with people having the same thing happen most under 10k so something went wrong when they made them
Jovaughn Gueno most of their automatics have a good track record their old 5 speed was good the 7 speed in the Infiniti’s are decent and some years for the cvt was worse than others but I think they’ve ironed out the mistakes, also had a friend with a 2012 sonata that had the six speed go out at 115k miles so their autos have their issues along with their engines which have even more issues
The Sentra I would get would be the SV with premium package since it has quilted leather seats and 95% of the features of the SR. Great video as always and keep up the great work.
I was pleasantly surprised with the car in the video. And then there was the acceleration tests. That CVT is a deal-breaker. I'd regret owning it every single day.
That’s kind of a good thing no? Streamline your designs, too much choices mean people going to another brand. IE- someone likes how the S class looks, but can’t afford a limo style sedan, give them a full size E class that looks the same. If this is the style they going with... then they made the mistake where they but the designs into there cheapest car instead of starting with the Q70. You should always let your flagships lead the design trend.

What I did say (and I guarantee you, Sofyan - being the car enthusiast he is, like me - would say the exact same thing), “if only they’d get rid of the CVT”.
Sad.
Manual is offered in Canada and other places. Not in the US
nissan maxima and other from 2003 and older are much more Robust n reliable tanks compared to now if no cvt nissan would outsell
Nice looking. I have a 2018 accord and 2019 silverado. I don't plan to buy a car for a long time but I still watch these review. Definitely the best reviewer on you tube .
I hope Nissan turns it around. Have always loved their cars. This is a good start. Hope they build a SE-R version of this car that you can get for $30,000.
30 grand for a fucking se-r Sentra? Lmao... who tf would buy a sentra for 30k!?!?!? Who!?!? Not me or anyone I know

30k for a fully loaded more powerful SE-R Sentra is a really good deal if you honestly looked at is competition and their prices. After reading the comments in here regarding CVT, i didn't know the CVT was junk for most of Nissans cars. I owned a 2012 nissan sentra for around 3 years. I had the CVT fail on me twice. First after one year of use and then again after a year of use on the replacement. Both were replaced under warranty, before the warranty ran out i got rid of it. Went with Mazda as it's one of the few car companies left that don't use CVT on their cars.
CVT? no thanks when the competition is offering manuals and even launch gears.
150hp? no thanks when the civic and corolla offer close to 170+
Manufacturers are starting to discontinue the manuals in 2021
Civic is discontinuing manuals and the corolla is soon to follow
The base Civic offers around the same power. The 1.5 liter turbo in the Civic is not base engine.
@@junior1321 yeah but Honda offers a more powerful unit. Nissan doesn't
Kyron yup that is true, I own the 1.5 liter Civic and like it a lot.
for anyone watching this planning on getting this car. 100% get it, im a 16 year old and its my first car, i havent had a single issue, gas mileage is amazing, the horsepower is perfect for a new driver as its not something that is easy to be irresponsible with and the handling/turn radius incredibly easy to control. So what im trying to say is if your looking for a car that looks good (16 yr olds care abt this lemme tel u) and isnt too powerful but has enough to do whatever you need for daily commute, this is a great car for a 16 yr old or a first time driver in general.

THANK YOU!!! The Sentra looks GREAT!!! We are heading down to Nissan this week to trade-in our wonderfully reliable, CVT-equipped 2007 Versa SL with 252,000 miles on the odo!!!
They should have offered manual too. Many people don't like CVT.
And even more people don't like manual either.
Ride & Live i rather walk or ride a bike before i drive anything with a cvt
Ride & Live specially Nissan shitty cvt’s
But many people dont buy them in manual in the US at least
Thunder in the background was a nice touch.

Great video as always and keep up the great work.
the dealbreaker for me on the SV premium is the lack of the bose audio system that’s only on SR

I miss when each vehicle had its on identity. Now every make makes their cars look alike. They stretch or shrink them
That’s kind of a good thing no? Streamline your designs, too much choices mean people going to another brand. IE- someone likes how the S class looks, but can’t afford a limo style sedan, give them a full size E class that looks the same. If this is the style they going with... then they made the mistake where they but the designs into there cheapest car instead of starting with the Q70. You should always let your flagships lead the design trend.

11:40 Everyone likes to rag on Nissan's CVT, not because of it's unresponsiveness but because of it's UNRELIABILITY.
Over the past 10 years, I've seen so many Nissan owners suffer from transmission problems, that I myself stay far away from them and advise everyone else to do the same until they design a more reliable transmission.
If only they’d get rid of the CVT
11:42- Did you even watch the video? He said 2x the cvt was very responsive and smooth.
@@jeffghant4760 thank you, I DID watch the video, and I have, in fact, driven multiple recent Nissan CVTs. I never once said it wasn’t responsive or smooth, nor am I disputing what was said in the video. What I did say (and I guarantee you, Sofyan - being the car enthusiast he is, like me - would say the exact same thing), “if only they’d get rid of the CVT”. CVTs have statistically (Nissan, in particular) had more problems over time than traditional transmissions. This comes from someone who had one fail on a 6-year old Altima, and from someone with multiple friends who have also had their’s completely die on them. I hope you’ve had better experiences, but as for me, I’ll pass.

I would say this, if you’re looking, I would highly suggest looking at the Honda Civic or Accord. In my experience, I think Honda outs out the CVT right now. My family has a 2016 CR-V and a 2014 Accord, both with CVTs, and they are far more responsive and refined than Nissan’s (in my opinion). I would definitely consider checking out some Hondas if you don’t have your heart set on a Nissan.
