Reminds me of my time in Estonia. On the farm where I lived most of the time, the only vehicle we were able to start in - 20°C winter was our Magirus-Deutz truck from 1958. One minute of pre-glow and it started right up. We then used the truck to tow start the rest of the cars and farm tractors we needed.

I've worked around diesel engine machines all my working days and there was only one diesel V8 engine that started up for us without block heater plugged in. Seeing the Nissan Patrol i started thinking "Imagine this is the car that will get you to the hospital (or home) in the toughest winter conditions and therefor, in that moment, it is the best car in the world!"

Best cold starting engine is in my opinion the DEUTZ F4L912! It starts at 20 degrees minus without some glow equipment!!!! Greetings from Bavarian Forrest/Germany
Так забавно, опыт зимнего владения дизельной машиной был у меня в армии.. Но у меня зима не -10 была, а -30, иногда -40. Так вот, на военном КАМАЗе есть пжд(предпусковой подогрев двигателя). На одном из них он не работал, и я тогда находился на выезде в лесу, там то я и понял всю боль того, что он не работал. Был конец недели, мы сворачивались, готовились к отъезду в часть. И я минут 5 пытался запустить ледяной двигатель без прогрева. Масло густое было наверное как пластилин😂. Но я его запустил, еще минут 10 двигатель работал как двух тактный, пытался заглохнуть. Дрожала вся кабина. Тогда то я и был вынужден починить пжд. Внимание всем, кто может столкнуться с военным камазом - кабина в любую погоду остывает с полностью прогретой жаркой температуры до «морозилки» за 2 часа😂

Wish I had -7 for cold start. Here in eastern part of Turkey it's -20 in the morning it is impossible to start diesels.
Diesel BMW or Mercedes would start without problem with -20 if it has winter diesel fuel and all glow plugs working
