Thank you for this video. You are correct there was no other video about bearings. My parents rainbow is not working properly so I’m going to try and service it myself. It mainly just needs a deep cleaning and bearings and maybe some new seals.

Thanks bud. I have this same model and the 2nd bushing on the motor side I couldn't figure out if it was part of the shaft or just came off. I used some channel locks on it and it came off so I could clean it up. I took mine apart because of the big seal and dirt in there. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

This is by far my favorite Rainbow model. I don’t know why, but I love the graphics on it.
Although, this model had two different types of controllers and designs. The original design of this E2 did not have the insulation and the controller was much louder and sounded a little higher pitched starting up into high speed. The early 2007 model of E2 gold, they added insulation and changed the controller into the same one that the E2 platinum has.
I only know this because I used to work at a Rainbow service center. Lol
    :-)
I own the SRX Rainbow- always have the “latest and greatest.” I have a couple videos on it on my channel.
This is the first Rainbow model that I am NOT at all impressed with. First off, it was purchased in December of 2019 with an unknown recall at the time- it has since been updated and fixed by Rexair- a piece of insulation needed to be put on the controller- a couple machines apparently caught fire before they had that insulation put on... yeah, that made me quite concerned when I read about that- as I was on vacation with that same Rainbow running on low speed at the house... 😱😱
    Second- it gets hot- QUICKLY!
I can’t run it for more than 10 minutes on speed 3 (cleaning the air) without turning off...luckily, it does have a safety switch to turn itself off otherwise it WOULD catch fire...
Third- The intake at the main unit (where the hose plugs in) is VERY small causing a restriction of air (massive restriction) when using the hose/attachments. I have compared the cleaning power at the hose end with the black Diamond and it’s not even comparable...I use my black Diamond for all the cleaning... just the SRX for air cleaning.
My SRX is currently at the shop as it’s under warranty- it continually shuts off, randomly and they are thinking it’s the controller- it may need replacing. I took it once -last week and had it back for not even 24 hours, running it on low speed to clean the air- cranked it up to 3 to add water to it through the intake and then it shut off... very warm too..they “reset” it, but now it’s back in there...
Now, with all this said, I DO like the power head design- they FINALLY after 85 years, have added a foot release pedal- so it HOPEFULLY will stay standing up 5+ years down the road. 🤣
-Metal roller bar with replaceable bristles (back to the Platinum design)
-On the E2 Gold (2004) through the Black Diamond (2019) there is a plastic grill which allows the controller to breath and even gently pulls air in (to cool the computer)- and while I know it needs to breath, properly... it allows WAY too much dust in there, which overtime, if not cleaned, regularly can overheat the components and BAM- new controller is needed (about $350 new)... so- I quit using the black Diamond to clean the air on low speed and will just use it to vacuum and clean the air (briefly) on high...
(When I cleaned Rainbows at the service center, you’d be surprised at some of the dust and debris in the controllers...worse than a 2000’s desktop computer...) I’m honestly surprised more machines didn’t catch fire 🔥
-The SRX is sealed to that controller now, at least from what I’ve seen... so that’s good, and bad... good because no debris can get in the controller, but then also it overheats BECAUSE it can’t breath...

I am enjoying your videos so far. I also have an e2 gold series and it stopped working couple of weeks ago after I accidentally stored it with water still in the bubble. I let it sit out and air out and it starts up now, but after watching your first video about basic maintenance, I just did that today (03-30-2024) I am now on the hunt for a new water duct filter/gasket and potentially a new HEPA filter. I rinsed my filter out today but might still consider replacing it. I've owned this vacuum since brand new and this is my first time doing any kind of cleaning on it. I'm surprised maintenance can go into this much detail and hopefully I'll get another 20 years out of this vacuum. My only question is, possibly including links to where we can buy new parts from?

The red light comes on and when I push the reset button, I have to hold it in a certain level and it will go for a small amount of time. I have cleaned the attachment. Replaced the belt. Looked at the reset switch. No loose wires. Do you have any suggestions.

    • @VacLab
      @VacLab  2 місяці тому

@dianastriker2309 seems like you have an open circuit caused by worn connections. Have someone service it.
Or, it could be a bad circuit breaker in the PN.

When I turn on the rainbow vacuum, it will make 3 ticks sound and won't spin the motor.

Help. I can not afford an E2. I have DC4 that I inherited. I took is apart to clean the separator and the bottom side of the separator was so disgusting I removed those parts and cleaned them too. Now when I am reassembling I am running out of bolt that comes through motor that everything attaches to where I have no room to screw final nut back on. Maybe 2 rows of threads are showing but one would have to apply a lot of pressure on the plastic separator to get the top nut back on. Even if I could I believe it would crack the plastic. HELP I have watched all videos I can find the replacing parts look just like the video. I honestly don't think you could reverse them if you wanted to.
