Do HIV blips put your partner at risk?!

- With the advent of U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable) many discussions are being had around the topic of HIV transmission. One of the primary concerns is the reality of 'blips.' I wanted to see what the data shows surrounding this so I dug into some studies to share with you all.

#HIV #blips
Thanks for doing this video Raif! I wondered if blips could cause transmission ever since I had a blip of 38 copies/ml. about 10 years ago. Glad you confirmed that they don't. Stay awesome man! 😃
Ryan Black You’re welcome Ryannnnn! Glad it helps! And we SHOULD KNOW this shit right??
Im also imfacted with hiv ,i thought my life is over but by seeing u i got inspired to live my Life happily, love u bro. And make some more videos which are helpful to us

Thank you for spreading the important information! You're a gem!
You're very welcome! Thanks for the love
Science not stigma. This channel is great, so needed
Thanks for the info Raif! Now is just up to everyone be clear and honest about their status so we can stop the transmissions!
I hear what you're saying but if a person can't transmit the virus, I would argue that they're no longer obligated to share their HIV status since it no longer can effect the other person.
This is so informative and I'm sure a lot of our brothers and sisters out there can get a breather out of this information, thank you so much for this video
You're just an awesome human being.
Keep shining
Hey Tawny! Yea i sincerely hope that this helps put a lot of peoples' minds at ease! I'm doing my best over here, thank you so much for the support 😊

Raif, you look great!
This video literally just saved my life.
Had my first blip today after 5 years beeing undetectable..76 copies , gave the blood again and waiting for result. Man thanks for the video my qnxiety is gone. Me and my negative partner are feeling calmer :)
GOOD!! so happy to hear that
Do you use condoms with ur partner or any other form of protection ? Have y’all been together for 5 years ? Is it true that U=U ?
Hey so did it come back regular?! Mine are at 60 and I’m freaking out. Been undetectable for five years.
@@Halfy06 Yes it did, don't worry this can happen. Just take your pills regularly and you will be fine :)
@@suave1171 thank you!
❤ I like this because it is informing on the HIV and AIDS thank you, Sir
you're welcome!
You are really God sent. God bless you
Appreciate the love Keitu
Raif you are the best
Loving listening to you raif still like to hug him so cute and good-looking guy so nice and very open about aids , hiv
Very informative and helful iam from Papua New Guinea. Keep it up and God bless.
Great video!! It takes 2 to tango. So if the negative person is so concerned of getting HIV from a U person. Then surely it is also on them to take prep and ensure they don't go for protracted periods without their meds, which then effectively boils everything down to zero. We all take responsibility for our own health.
This is timely and important.
So is this: is plaid back?
OH henny, plaid never left!!
You got a point there.
Brother thank you, you ha e informed me with more details and some fashion I need honestly I'm on a computer all day also 😅😂 thank you again brother
Such a nice guy so open you could save loves fr hiv and aids you don't hear about that now but it must be today
I almost ended my life when i got the diagnosis, apparently the Co2 tank was leaking from he rim that prevented me from that and my liver for some reason not even the er understood was still able to withstand the 59 pills I took. but yes a generation was lost back in the day and when I came to realise that my greatest hero was lost because of a tranfusion that caused him Hiv (Isaac asimov) then I was truly truly saddned and felt that I need to cherish the life I have because if asimov had the chance and access to drugs we do today , he might have been alive...
information is important
i think it also depend on the kind/quality of ART cocktail your taking. Third world countries don't have biktarvy, atripla, descovy etc. Does the study included those taking LTE (lamivudine, tenofivir, efavirenz) or other cocktails that are way behind from modern and more effective ARTs today? Thanks in advance
LTE is super effective in making you undetectable and staying like that. The difference with the modern medications is basically the side effects.
Love you ❤❤❤❤
Much love back to you my friend!
Interesting!
I have this hypothesis that blips signify depletion of the latent viral reservoirs.
When these dormant cells start producing viral particles, there is a "blip" in the viral load. The reservoir cells get destroyed by the cytotoxic effects of viral replication, new reservoir cells would not be created as long as the individual is on ART, and over time, the viral repositories are depleted.
If that is the case, (all) reservoirs would be depleted if the person has been on ART for over 20 years! That would state that the person becomes Negative after a certain amount of time. Where is the evidence of your hypothesis?
@@dodgersims1271 That's why it's a hypothesis. I came across an article two months ago that said with current oral ARVs, it would take 70 years to completely deplete the viral reservoirs. I wish I have the link to that right now.
I hope you can do a collab with jennifer in the future. You guys are awesome!
That's a good idea!
@@RaifDerrazi Yes that would be great if both you and Jennifer would do a video
She look incredibly healthy❤ I pray a cure comes soon!
I am sorry, I meant He. Typo
I've been on Juluca for a year, everything was fine until I too experienced a blip (30 copies). My doctor said not to worry and continue the treatment.
The ISSUE if u can't even trust a person to disclose their HIV status, how can you trust they are taking their meds consistently and are in fact at zero viral load. I am ao sorry, but I have lost some love ones to the disease and there were issues of non-disclosure and unprotected sex operative. I know human nature so I have chosen to lay low before I get a halo. Many of my trusting friends are NO LONGER with us. You guys are blessed because it is now a manageable disease.
Disclosure is a MUST!!! It is only fair. Give people the option to be with you, that way there is NO resentment. Truth sets you FREE. NO need to deceive people.
I wonder who was to first couple to be tested. This was a big risk!
Bcuz there saying if they want to say that you can transmit it if they want too.
I know I'm late and this was so informative. However i have read that even in an undetectable status because of Viral Shedding, you can still put your partner at risk. May i ask your thoughts on this?
Hi, thanks for bringing this up. While there is a non-zero theoretical risk, from what I understand studies have shown no transmission except for some exceptional circumstances where the patient was not taking their medication properly etc. so while I sympathize with the concern, I see no real world reason to be worried
@@RaifDerrazi Ok TY for responding. I have read about the shedding blips. I believe thats one of the reasons even with the U=U status and Prep its still suggested of course condoms be worn for that reason as all viruses shed but its impossible to know when exactly although taking medicine properly does reduce the chance of shedding.
My test never show any blips guessing i'm lucky but not everyone is the same. there are people who are undetectable without bicktarvy even though its a rarity..
U look terribly cute with those glasses 😘
Wait wasn’t those people who got positive infected trough someone else and not trough their positive partners ?
Where to get such data what u said in this video. I want to c if really have such data
What will happen if you forget your pill ?
Had 24 and Ast liver enzymes elevated alongside cholesterol any advice? They want to change meds.
Rafi is sooooo cute to me😍
Haha, thanks Jordan, appreciate that
Doctor dont provide biktarvy here they provide something different. I dont know that ll work or not can you please guide or any one for help here arv medics expert please mail me Please.
Pls Raif can a patient with 300 copies of viral load effect his/her partner?
If you’re undetectable and take an Elisa hiv test will it come back negative?
eight I know one case who is positive and got treatment with Trustiva for 4 years. He took a quick test at home and it came out negative. How awesome. He is going to do a confirmation test to see how it goes.
Even though a blood test might not detect the virus (undetectable) it will still detect antibodies so an undetectable person will still yield a positive test result.
Hey Raif, do you have a mailing address you'd be willing to share? I'd like to send you a blessing.
A PERAON WITH UNDETECTABLE VIRAL LOAD CAN TRANSMIT THROUGH SEMEN??
How long take be undetected
I hope you only one that American gen technology take for test first on 2021 bro I pray
This is the question I asked a friend and he couldn’t answer. U can have a blip in between testing.
You can but in multiple studies there was no evidence that it was significant enough to cause a risk for transmission
@@RaifDerrazi hiv is so mysterious. I am still trying to understand it. U can take a pill and be non transmissible and non detectable. Yet still had a couple friends pass away recently due to complications of HIV. I just don’t get it. I will continue to research.
If i may ask what is blip
Can you help me I need some advice
😍👏
😌🙏
Only 8? 8 too many for me.
So your "blip" was no problem and you were still untransmittable the entire time
Exactly!
Damn... adverts even from you Raif - adios
Susan Margaret Wills 🤷🏽♂️ I cant do it all for free
Can you imagine the man that wants to marry me he said what if they faked the results. Or it's not 100% maybe it's for them zero infection but not to us 🤦🤦🤦 lot of stigma and fear about this subject in out country
Who cares about love and partner? I just don't want to have drug resistance, I want to live
