@@DUNEATV man, I'm glad yoy're here to tell me how my buddy's experiences with his YXZ really are, especially since he's my main riding buddy. Salty much? Truth a little hard to swallow?
The build quality of Yamaha AND Can Am is great. Can Am has really stepped it up. I really wanted the YXZ but bought the Cam Am Maverick. Why? Still no low range on the Yamaha, that's it. I DEMAND a low range. I dune AND rock crawl and just lowering first gear isn't enough.
Need a 50" version. The 850 twin would probably be used in a 50" YXZ SS. I don't think Yamaha would keep the triple in a 50" version but that would be amazing power for a much lighter machine.
For stock the things looks Amazing, Yamaha builds some good stuff, so you know it's not going to leave you stranded on the trail or catch fire like a Polaris or CanAm. I think with this new Honda Talon (or whatever it'll be called) made Yamaha step up their game a little bit. I would seriously consider this car for sure.
We have 3 Can Am's. They don't break down or leave us stranded. I love Yamaha and have a YZ. They need to bring the YXZ to the next level with a turbo and low range. Until then, they bring up the rear.
Low range would be sweet! Turbo I could see, I've driven a few non-turbo 1000's in tight woods and I think it's plenty. The turbo RZR that I drove was pretty nice, sick power, but man, you needed to have your shit together.
I've been eyeing one of these since the '19s were introduced. I'm a Honda guy (currently own 3, including a P1K5) but Yamaha has definitely caught my eye. Honda had some mis-steps when they introduced the Pioneer 1000. The Talon will probably have a few bugs to work out over the first couple of model years. The YXZ, having been out for a few years, looks to be pretty solid IMO. If I trade this year, it will probably be for the YXZ!
I have no idea why people are whining about gear ratios.... I just rode my 2017 through the Hatfield McCoy trails in WV and in MI and have no issues - fast on all terrain. It's not a rock climber - and hardly any of the whiners are rock climbers - people just need to drive any version of this machine and it's fine stock.
How would you know who the rock crawlers are? Crystal ball? West coasters (with real dunes & trails) need low range. Any decent mountain trail is gonna have low speed technical spots.
@@gwood701 no thanks. The competition factory turbos their machines and when you factor in total cost to get a turbo machine the competition is significantly cheaper. I'm not paying 20k and then adding 6k for a turbo kit plus install. Polaris RZR turbo starts at 20k
@@nismor3490 don't get me wrong. I love my 16 yxz. My issue is I would like to trade mine in a yr from now and I don't see Yamaha meeting my needs. I'd like more power for the dunes. My Next ride might be an X3
The yxz doesn't need a turbo. My buddy threw an exhaust and a tune on his, and we have no problem keeping up with turbo rzrs. The manual transmission puts power down far better than a cvt, so you don't need 160hp and a turbo to keep up. Plus. A turbo is just another thing to break.
I finally got to see one of these rigs yesterday for the first time up close, and it's a really nice machine. my only dilemma is do I want paddle shift or a foot clutch?
Man that thing looks awesome 😎. Yamaha has always biult great platforms and letting their buyers build them from one extreme to the other. Instead of coming out with 5 versions of the same thing. The manual separates them from the rest. 😈
kyle stewart Yamaha builds a great product, but to say the build quality is light years away from CAN AM you are on heroine. If that was a cam am the hole bottom of the radiator & fans wouldn't be exposed to get covered in mud. I can assure you can am builds the best off road products
Matthew Rebecchi ummmmm. I didn’t say that man😐. Not would I. I’m a big CanAm fan. Bought a brand new DS650 in 2001. Had that quad for 15 years. Man I miss that old Sandpig.
Can am and polaris aren't even close to the build quality of yamaha. The never have been, and I dont think they ever will be. I have owned machines from all the big brands. Yamaha and honda are way ahead in the build quality category.
@@mattreb5748 I own a yxz and my wife picked herself up an x3 xmr. Both machines are amazing. But I do have to say the Japanese stuff is "light years" ahead in quality and fit and finish. This is my dream sxs to own some day. I should just sell my 16’ sportsman 850 and I have a 2009 Z1 turbo snowmobile to help pay for one of these. But my issue is I don’t have a garage just a shed that won’t fit it, and I have owned the sportsman since new and it’s very low hour and use it’s hard to sell it haha. I waited a long time to buy that new. A the dilemmas of n off road enthusiast.
Yamaha just got going 2019 yxz is not even perfected yet but it's closer than the previous years. You can buy a dealer bolt-on turbo or a gear reduction and so on that cool.. 2021 will be 4 seaters. 2007 the rzr was born as a 2008 model. Still not that reliable now in 2019 I mean when they have to send a semi truck out with repair teams to Glamis on holiday weekends to keep the SXS owners on the dunes wow!! I'd say that it's all good
If this thing didn't cost as much as a 5.0, or SS Camaro I'd get one. I just can't pull the trigger after seeing the sticker on these new SxS's. I get all ready to go buy one untill I think of the payment. You guys who have these things I tip my hat to you. I just can't do it, so I will stick to my SxS I've had for 8 years.
They should offer it with factory snorkels and maybe a lil more aggressive tires, I know that most people will build to suit their style of riding- I k ow I do. But factory snorkels would be great from the factory even for the trail built rides for crossing creeks.
DUNEYXZ How so? The YXZ is slower and has less horsepower, even the non-turbo RZR 1K is faster. You sure won’t be keeping up with any RZR’s or X3’s on the trails either.

@@joshturner696 Honda is automatic with capabilities of shifting like most common cars today....The Yamaha is 5 speed sequential transmission and the R has a manual clutch the SS has electronic controlled clutch.....

3cutekidz right??
I was thinking the same thing...lets see this thing go!
It says walk around
Its a walk around video...........
These guys are so used to riding crap like Polaris ..that they are shocked when they get in a Yamaha and they really like it

It takes a couple of years to get refinement starting to get tempted for my first sxs
