  • Can you still find deals at antique stores or has the pricing gone a little crazy. I am struggling to find decent pricing in antique stores. I know bargains can still be found but I have not located any.
Oddball and More is located in Colorado Springs. Very friendly owner and a very interesting store. Record pricing, not too good but I may have missed something.
Please check out my last podcast with Jim Gleason- Two Guys Talking About Records where we discuss antique store pricing. You can find this on YT ‪@RadioWastelandRecords‬ or on spotify, Iheart, Apple and FB.

Hello Steve; Antique stores have been known to overprice the merchandise. There are many $1 & less records in those bins, priced way above the vic. A Katana sword hanging on the wall in your record room would look good, along with the Dad's Fix It Shop sign. Talking Heads, nice that you got it back. Take care, Tina & Pat!!~

Funny you mentioned a sword. I have a true Kumdo sword, Korean version of a katana sword. I was a black belt in the discipline When getting the black belt we bought our sword, quite expensive. I even went to Korea to cut with the master instructors. In the flood my sword got ruined badly rusted. I finally found someone that could clean it properly and knew its value. I got it back a week ago and it’s now on my mantle. I looked at their pretend swords at the shop, I am now once again a lethal weapon lol

i’ve never ventured into antique stores. but that’s prob for the best. colorado springs used to have a great chain of record stores called Independent. They closed down last summer. Was able to make one last trip which was cool. and of course there was an Amy’s
Donuts down that way too which was nice. haha. I thought they were working on building your new annex The Steve Carlson Museum. I’ll put up Untouchables Decade of Dance vs that Talking Heads album as best live album ever.

Hey Steve! $18 for Sweet 'Level Headed'? No thank you! After seeing some of those prices I don't think I would've stayed in there as long as you did. I don't expect outer sleeves on albums in the $1 - $3 bins, but I do when they are priced above $10. Cheers!

Wasn’t that just nuts Steve. And this insanity is becoming more common. Does Earl Scheib have a booth at that antique mall? When we had the brick and mortar record store I had a customer who would buy records out of our $1.00 bins and sell them in his much smaller record shop down the road lol. He would mark them up to $4.99. Glad we could help lol. WOW no outer sleeves and price stickers snack on the front cover. And those prices! 😮 That’s the kind of record store where you’ll find a $1,000 rarity in the dollar bin. 😂 $12.99 for Shawn Cassidy?! Bonkers! Cool Taxi Driver soundtrack!

My friend in MI with the store has a very big dollar room but also a lot of $5 album. A guy who owns a store about 40 miles away would come to his store to stack up on inventory. I visited his store, smaller little college town, but man his prices were kind of steep. It would seem a lot of people with no business acumen do this ad ten wonder why they crash and burn

At least I save the shipping, right? My wife & I were in Colorado Springs a few years back and I stopped in to Earth Pig (didn't score) and Independent Records (scored some nice finds), but missed out on Oddball. Wish I hadn't! I have to say, that store would not be my cup of tea. I spied so many dollar bin records going for 15 to 20 bucks. Those Anne Murray albums fetch almost nothing here - and she’s Canadian! The vinyl also didn’t seem to be in good shape. If you’re going to price Al Martino records as if they were Dark Side of the Moon, at least have them in mint condition! They still have buck bins around here. I was in a store last weekend and they were selling records at 10 cents apiece. I picked up 90 - including about 20 or-or-so classical box sets in wonderful condition. When I was paying for them, the guy behind the counter said, “Take whatever else you want for free, we need to get rid of them.” I also don’t think they really know what “Oddball Records” really are. Ella Fitzgerald? I could show them some records that would make their eyes spin.
