Rotherham Bus Services After Powells Bus & CT Plus Yorkshire Collapse

Following the reinstation of a number of services in the October changes that were previously operated by Powells Bus, I made a visit to Rotherham to see what was going on...and goodness me I had a good time out! We take a few trips on 2 services that have been reinstated from the Powells Bus era, the 3 service that now become more vital with FirstBus cutbacks and the 117 that was a service invented by Powells themselves! We also look further into new routes taken over by Cawthornes in the form of the peak time express X74 service. With lots of vehicle surprises, sights to see and routes to enjoy again I hope you all enjoy this video as much as I did filming it.

I find it cool how Cawthorne’s went from 2 or 3 school services to a whole network of routes in the space of about 3 months

They may use what is left of the CT plus fleet and rebrand it first or stagecoach could pick up the buses and run it as a subsidiary to there main companies.
All of the CT Plus fleet has been auctioned off to different companies now

You want to find one of Powells' 59 plate BMC Condors, essentially an SB200 in a very odd bus body. I think they're in Wakefield
Brilliant ! Quick note SV06 was originally new to First Aberdeen so that was a BIG surprise when it showed up! Are the deckers still doing the 3 or have Cawthornes got a more standard fleet now for local runs?
Aye it was a lovely motor, unfortunately that and the SF06 are now withdrawn in favor of 2 ex Heathrow Omnicities. 3, 5 and X74 tend to be predominantly single decks but deckers regularly show still
Alex any chance of you doing a video on the X7 which TM Travel run now, It was a Powells route in the past and other operators before that too, Their is 3 journeys in a morning peak from Maltby Quilter Road to Sheffield bus station and 3 in an evening from Sheffield bus station to Quilter Road
Its something I've not put much thought to yet however I can certainly consider doing it as its a route I have been meaning to sample for some time. It was very interesting that TM reactivated the route despite it not running for some time previously
I wonder if Wellglade Group will be the next one to go into administration
From the looks of their Trent and N&D operation things aren't looking bad for Wellglade
TM travel is part of welgalde what is made up of TrentBarton Kinchbus and Notts and derby (obs tm) so 490 (and the rest will be the same fleet no.)
Aye its a fleet transfer rather than 'purchase' so to speak

Not related to CT plus but in the recent service changes, Stagecoach have taken over the 135 and 137 routes.
Wonder why we saw a Transdev Learner Bus at the start.

Does anyone know any information on Cawthornes running the 138 even trip to kimberworth park? Times and route?

Regarding 138 it has been withdrawn due to no operator likewise with 114 as well. First have dropped the 136 however a replacement has been announced as 227 but again no operator so not running currently apart from the stagecoach runs on an evening and sundays
I wonder what happened to the former Malta Public Transport's Optare Dolo SRs that were at Powell's
how much are the tickets?
For Cawthornes they are charging £2 flat fare singles currently with cash payments only. The SYConnect for South Yorks is valid for all buses in the region.
@@AndMoreCentral I suppose that's the problem with the smart cards they need to be scanned by the ticket machine, if we still had the old travelmaster scratchcard style ones it wouldn't be a problem.

The 117 actually uses part of the old Mainline route 121 to Ravenfield from the 90s, it went from Rotherham through Dalton, Dalton Magna (the scenic part of the route) then kept on Flanderwell lane to the roundabout then turned left and went upto Ravenfield.

@@declangaming24 yeah true, as said in the video it's all been a bit of a rushed job.
@@davebirch1976 it's rushed becuase of the passengers needing them services so they where like any operator can take these services.
