Really appreciate this information about duckling care and how it differs from chick care. Especially the tip about them not having oil on their feathers until they are grown. Didn’t know that! And didn’t know that in the wild, the mother duck puts her oil on them.

The beef cows are amazing the way they interact with you two. Its like "what you got for us as a treat"? Its like a comedy they want to know everything thats happening. Liked this channel when posted more frequently .
Sara. I found a channel "Redrose Homestead, where a lady professor in the science field goes futher into food preservation and safety. She goes into testing the newer elecrtic canners and provides great info.

I'm glad both Rose and Babe are bred and look like they're doing great! I didn't know that mounting behavior could possibly mean that they weren't. I was raised around cattle but not so much the last 30 years.

I got my onions planted yesterday. And have some cantaloupe sprouted. I took the seeds from a tasty store bought one so I'll take what I get 😊
I hope you get a good crop of cantaloupe! I saved seeds from a tuscano type one and I got one plant that made amazing fruit, and two that made kind of bland but ok fruit, and one that was practically infertile, it made greenish softbalball sized fruit that never really ripened up. They tasted like an overripe cucumber- the chickens loved them but I wasn't a fan haha

Regarding the mounting behavior, my nigerian dwarf goats do that while they are pregnant as well, has something to do with their hormones. You both have a beautiful farm and love how you take care of all your animals. Thank you for sharing.

So glad both your dairy cows are pregnant. I have had my pregnant hormonal cows mount each other too. It's unsettling at the time thinking they may not be bred after all.
