In all the previous election examples he cited political parties were allowed to contest as political entity e.g. 1988 PPP had an arrow symbol on which voters can vote on. Hamid Meer has given twisted answers, he proves himself wrong by saying that Pakistan Establishment has never succeeded in bringing someone to power, as he gave examples from 70s onwards, but in 2018 it was otherwise. Infact, Army reduced PTI's clear majority (Imran Khans Party) and gave him weak govt. To argue this, after Regime change, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Election Commission, Bureaucracy, Pakistan Police, every inch of power used to get results against Imran Khan but his party swept 30 out of 37 by-elections. Army or any other power in Pakistan can not defeat IK hence he has been put behind bars in frivolous 200+ cases (you only need 1 genuine case in Pakistan to hang someone *BHUTO) not 200+ cases. IK's party (PTI) not allowed to contest elections, Supreme Court took away his party's electoral symbol, his party divided into 3 parties, people bought with money or with army's might (forced disappearances). His entire A Team is no more.... Today IK's under 11 team is trying to win elections with no IK, no big names, no institutional support and with no electoral symbol (Bat) in fact army is even kidnapping those who are becoming some hope out of his party's 3rd tier. It was a very disappointing interview by Hamid Mir which I couldn't expect from him. He even supported the establishment which created massive confusion and destruction in Pakistan. Again I say Hamid Mir should have mentioned the real situation of Pakistani politics but he completely failed to assert it in a real way.
I earnestly recommend that Wire and Karan extend an invitation to Dr. Moeed Pirzada for an interview. Dr. Pirzada is widely acknowledged as the most discerning and intellectual voice in Pakistan at present. While recognizing that Wire and Karan are esteemed entities that require no external endorsements or TRP augmentation, it is envisaged that hosting Dr. Pirzada would undoubtedly result in a highly impactful interview, potentially setting new benchmarks for viewership.

Hamid Mir didn't furnish correct facts. PTI is the only largest party in Pakistan. IK govt was far far better than any other govts. IK was not imposed, rather establishment took a few seats away by manipulating through RTS to control govt. IK is the most popular leader, with about 80% followership.

However, they badly failed and Imran khan didn't become a puppet. In 2024, Nawaz has no support in public and army against the will of majority, is trying to bring him in power. Also, Nawaz made deal and left the country and enjoyed his looted money in London while Imran didn't make any deal and facing fake cases, Nawaz was punished for real financial crimes. Also, Army killed Arshad sharif a prominent journalist, abducted Imran Riaz another top journalist and many political workers both male and female and tortured them. Well Hamid mir is better than Najam sethi, your favourite N league beneficiary, but still he is an apologist for Nawaz sharif and falsely compares 2018 elections with 2024. Here are some factual comparisons. 1) In 2018 military was supporting Imran khan, and Nawaz sharif was behind the bars like Imran khan and the similarity ends right here. 2)Nawaz sharif was behind the bars due to Panama Case (only one case which they propagated was a global conspiracy against Nawaz sharif, never told how the got their London flats and the other peoperties) and now Imran Khan is behind the bars with over 200 cases against him, you name a crime and he has a case against him. 3) Even after his disqualification in 2017, his party kept the govt, he had his named PM, president and N league completed their term till elections, not PTI 4) N league was fully able to do political campaign, with rallies and jalsas etc. They had reasonable media coverage, but PTI can't do any jalsa any where in the country, the homes of PTI candidates are still raided, they are running for their life and can't do any compaign except in KPK, where judiciary still has some spine 5) with the exception of Nawaz sharif, all their candidates were not only free, out of prison, but free to campaign. 6) Election day was one of the cleanest of Pakistan history with no ballot stuffing and rigging on voting. 7) No N league or PPP elected candidate joined PTI (wrongly claimed by Hamid mir) to form govt but many independents were encouraged by military to join PTI . 8) N league as party was never forcefully dismentaled, none of their members joined PTI before or after elections, no other party was formed out of N league in 2018, however PTI is no more a political party because of a biased decision of CJP Qasi Faiz Esa and two other parties are forced out of PTI and kidnapping, torturing and blackmailing of the members of PTI is a new political norm either to join the other parties, or to simply leave PTI and stop politics 9) The purpose of taking the symbol of PTI is to deny them of their reserve seats and to be able to force the elected PTI members, who will again be judged independent by Faiz Esa's supreme court to join N league to form his govt. 10) Like Faiz Esa, previous chief justice also ordered election commission to conduct elections within 90 days, as per constitution, in Punjab, KPK and then in center, but till then PTI was intact, so none in the administration forced the order and Faiz Esa and some of his followers made a mess in supreme court of these orders. The elections were delayed till all the necessary work to break PTI was done. 11) Even today, if election day is as free as in 2018, PTI will have a landslide victory, their will be a big turnout but the administration will put hurdles in casting of votes of people, manipulate the results and make sure to do the will of the bosses, ie, military generals

I strongly disagree with Hamid Mir about "selection" of Imran Khan in the election of 2018. Imran Khan was very popular prior to these elections and Pakistan army was 100 % sure that Khan will clean sweep and will form a government without collation and will become a strong priministre, which was NOT good sign for pak army. And on the other hand Khan was so popular so that it wasn't an easy task to stop him. In order to cut Khan to size the RTS drama was staged (referring Kajang Asif communications to Bajwa. Hamid Mir is a brave man but here he was dishonest while comparing the 2018 elections with 2024. In 2018, PMLN candidates were not independent they had contested under the same symbol. There was not a single incident of snatching the nomination papers and forced disappearance of candidates.

Hamid Mir comparing apples with oranges. In all the previous election examples he cited political parties were allowed to contest as political entity e.g. 1988 PPP had an arrow symbol on which voters can vote on. Today Imran Khan's party PTI has been taken off bat symbol by supreme court so indirectly the party is banned from election and all his candidates are participating as independent candidates who have to join other parties after they win the election

Hamid Meer has given twisted answers, he proves himself wrong by saying that Pakistan Establishment has never succeeded in bringing someone to power, as he gave examples from 70s onwards, but in 2018 it was otherwise.
Infact, Army reduced PTI's clear majority (Imran Khans Party) and gave him weak govt.
To argue this, after Regime change, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Election Commission, Bureaucracy, Pakistan Police, every inch of power used to get results against Imran Khan but his party swept 30 out of 37 by-elections.
Army or any other power in Pakistan can not defeat IK hence he has been put behind bars in frivolous 200+ cases (you only need 1 genuine case in Pakistan to hang someone *BHUTO) not 200+ cases.
IK's party (PTI) not allowed to contest elections, Supreme Court took away his party's electoral symbol, his party divided into 3 parties, people bought with money or with army's might (forced disappearances). His entire A Team is no more....

Hamid Mir calls PML and PP biggest political parties whereas the only biggest party at present with 90% public support is in all four provinces is PTI. PP is only in Sindh. PMLN is in Punjab. Hamid Mir is living in past. Obviously he has no idea what is happening at ground.

Hamid Mir didn't furnish correct facts. PTI is the only largest party in Pakistan. IK govt was far far better than any other govts. IK was not imposed, rather establishment took a few seats away by manipulating through RTS to control govt.

Hamid Mir is not a fair journalist....how can we compare 2018 with 2024, In 2018, its true that army supported Imran khan but he had public support as well and army did not allow clear majority to khan so that he can control him. However, they badly failed and Imran khan didn't become a puppet. In 2024, Nawaz has no support in public and army against the will of majority, is trying to bring him in power. Also, Nawaz made deal and left the country and enjoyed his looted money in London while Imran didn't make any deal and facing fake cases, Nawaz was punished for real financial crimes. Also, Army killed Arshad sharif a prominent journalist, abducted Imran Riaz another top journalist and many political workers both male and female and tortured them. There is hell of difference but this guy Hamid Mir is a big lair. Army tried to murder Imran and made 200 plus fake cases and his cheater sees no difference.
Well Hamid mir is better than Najam sethi, your favourite N league beneficiary, but still he is an apologist for Nawaz sharif and falsely compares 2018 elections with 2024. Here are some factual comparisons.
1) In 2018 military was supporting Imran khan, and Nawaz sharif was behind the bars like Imran khan and the similarity ends right here.
2)Nawaz sharif was behind the bars due to Panama Case (only one case which they propagated was a global conspiracy against Nawaz sharif, never told how the got their London flats and the other peoperties) and now Imran Khan is behind the bars with over 200 cases against him, you name a crime and he has a case against him.
3) Even after his disqualification in 2017, his party kept the govt, he had his named PM, president and N league completed their term till elections, not PTI
4) N league was fully able to do political campaign, with rallies and jalsas etc. They had reasonable media coverage, but PTI can't do any jalsa any where in the country, the homes of PTI candidates are still raided, they are running for their life and can't do any compaign except in KPK, where judiciary still has some spine
5) with the exception of Nawaz sharif, all their candidates were not only free, out of prison, but free to campaign.
6) Election day was one of the cleanest of Pakistan history with no ballot stuffing and rigging on voting.
7) No N league or PPP elected candidate joined PTI (wrongly claimed by Hamid mir) to form govt but many independents were encouraged by military to join PTI .
8) N league as party was never forcefully dismentaled, none of their members joined PTI before or after elections, no other party was formed out of N league in 2018, however PTI is no more a political party because of a biased decision of CJP Qasi Faiz Esa and two other parties are forced out of PTI and kidnapping, torturing and blackmailing of the members of PTI is a new political norm either to join the other parties, or to simply leave PTI and stop politics
9) The purpose of taking the symbol of PTI is to deny them of their reserve seats and to be able to force the elected PTI members, who will again be judged independent by Faiz Esa's supreme court to join N league to form his govt.
10) Like Faiz Esa, previous chief justice also ordered election commission to conduct elections within 90 days, as per constitution, in Punjab, KPK and then in center, but till then PTI was intact, so none in the administration forced the order and Faiz Esa and some of his followers made a mess in supreme court of these orders. The elections were delayed till all the necessary work to break PTI was done.
11) Even today, if election day is as free as in 2018, PTI will have a landslide victory, their will be a big turnout but the administration will put hurdles in casting of votes of people, manipulate the results and make sure to do the will of the bosses, ie, military generals

Karan, why you insist on inviting a controversial, unpopular & professionally dishonest guest like Hamid Mir. Zulfiqar Bhutto voluntarily chose to become a federal minister in Gen Ayub Khan’s cabinet. No one forced him to side with a dictator. Nawaz Sharif was brought into politics by Gen Zia & he willingly accepted to work under a military dictator. Nawaz Sharif & Benazir Bhutto struck a deal with Gen Musharraf & only then they decided to come back to Pakistan. Whey politicians have skeletons in their closets, they can be manipulated by military regimes. Hamid Mir will not open his mouth on these historical facts.

Hamid Mir is a brave man but here he was dishonest while comparing the 2018 elections with 2024. In 2018, PMLN candidates were not independent they had contested under the same symbol. There was not a single incident of snatching the nomination papers and forced disappearance of candidates.
Mr. Hamid can you please give the names of PMLN Punjab assembly members that were broken (as you said) in 2018? I believe a half truth is worse than a lie.
No political party held intra party election properly. Only PTI was singled out.
