Not Silly at all! I’m 75 years old, still fairly strong but not able to do things on my own so much any more. Perfect timing viewing your step-by-step because I’m having new flooring installed within 3 weeks and not sure I’ll have help beforehand moving my love seat recliner out of room. Good tip to screw back on feet during transition so I don’t scratch up my new wood flooring! Much Appreciated

OMG!!!!! I adore this simple brilliance! I was able to help my husband move both the old and new loveseats using this method combined with our trusty Forearm Forklift straps. We also saved the bars from our old loveseat in case we want to reconfigure the matching couch into a loveseat. Brilliant!!! :)
I've been dreading moving this couch for 2 weeks now and I have one day left to clear out my apartment... I even flipped my couch over but it doesn't look like it comes apart on first glance. Great idea ! Also a lot of those recliners the backs can be removed . Some can’t but if the backs can be removed it makes it even easier to handle . The ones that are real pain are the electric recliners . Those can be twice as heavy because of the mechanisms.

I just bought a used one ( six months old ) and mine is a duel loveseat and this is part of me trying to find some more space in my tiny apartment. That’s cluttered with junk.
Anyway, I got one friend with a truck but I don’t know if I’m gonna have someone to help me take this thing into the house after we drive it 25 miles so the friend is driving the truck just had some kind of prostate surgery so he can’t help load or unload so I’ve been really worried about things but this really Makes things easy and the great thing about this is your voice…. I needed to hear an encouraging voice today.

You will be happy to know that professional furniture movers will also do this depending on the circumstances - especially if it has to be moved up a long flight of stairs (or multiple flights of stairs). Although professional movers may have several capable movers on each job, sometimes a little disassembly eliminates furniture damage or injury to the movers.
A moving company wanted $320. to move my sofa to another room on the same floor in order to have my floors refinished...WHAT? They must be kidding. My husband and I are 75 years old and can't lift the sofa but we can move the 3 pieces individually...Brilliant...Thanks, Kelly.

I think it’s the 5/16 socket. I got a red plastic tool kit at Walmart several years ago. The socket wrench and lots of different sockets came in the kit along with lots of other basic tools (hammer, screw driver, Allen wrenches etc). I think any socket wrench set will have it. 👍

Can I ask what size socket you had to use? The loveseat we are moving next week is in a different city so no way to check the size. We can always take a whole set with us but just wondering if the sizes are sort of "industry-standard" for most of these sofas.....
I think it was 8mm or 9mm but I tried several sizes until I found the right size. You better take the set with you to be on the safe side.

You could, but typically the inside pieces are not covered with the same fabric where they oppose the other pieces so you can tell they are not meant to be separate
