excellent product, i am a professional mover, i am 58 yrs, i have moved thousands of houses, this is the best invention ever created for moving, we were able to move the heaviest furniture anywhere , 2nd , 3rd, floor, to me its actually makes the weight 60 to 70 percent lighter, therefor i am not dead at the end of the job, i cannot say enough for this product, God bless you for an awesome product
*On the one side of our bed it is super narrow to get in and out and making it is a pain **MyseIf.Furniture** and our sheets tend to always want to pull off to one side until eventually it pops off in the middle of the night. 11 years after this video was posted and I want to say a massive thankyou. Awesome video, just straight knowledge and helped me so much. Thankyou thankyou thankyou and God bless
I bought a set of "Forearm Forklift" straps several years ago and they have worked out fantastically. It's amazing how much easier it is to move heavy things, especially those things that don't have any sort of handles (like bookcases). It literally feels like the object weighs 1/4 as much as trying to lift with just your hands and arms. The Forearm Forklift is about 1/2 the price, but if you are moving a lot of stuff with it, I would suggest getting the shoulder dolly. The harness looks like it would be substantially easier to use and much more comfortable.
I came here today because we had a washing machine delivered by two guys who used this system. I had never seen it before, and wanted to learn more about it. thanks for a clear explanation.. Best of luck!
I'm impressed. Very well thought out. Thank you for inviting the Shoulder dolly. I've been a warehouseman/ truck driver for 31 years. I've seen a lot and this is a great invention.
Wow could have used this years ago at my moving company! Our boss made us carry everything by hand into house no handtrucks allowed! Our fingers and hands would kill us on long days, great invention!
I have seen my share of instructional videos... You did a fantastic job explaining common mistakes in numerous scenarios. I'm buying this TODAY! Thank you...
Recently bought one to move out washer upstairs and this made it super easy. I wish I had this 20 yrs ago when we had to move my mother in law from her 3rd story apartment building that didn't have an elevator 😅
Great instructional video. I bought this product over the competition because of this video as well as the wider 5” strap. Used it to move a commercial oven with ease
I am not a mover. Professional or otherwise. I just wanted to express how impressive your product appears and the same for your instructional video. I wish you much success with this endeavor..
As regards avoiding swaying, one of the things you guys did very well was to not be "in step" while moving. I think you'd be more likely to wobble if one guy's right foot was leading, and the guy walking backward was leading with his left. Easy to see you guys have done this before--you're a good team.
lol... That's Thomas Dent in the video. He was the inventor of the Shoulder Dolly. Robert Manciero shot this at our house in Glendale just before he died back in 2010. I think Robert did some videos for you guys too.
Damn this should be the video I watched for my new job I'm gonna show them this because they keep hitting my foot when I am top going up stairs my shine hurts
Great system, but I think you need a better system for holding the excess strap length - can see it falling down at 9:41, which would surely be a bit of a trip hazard!
Instead of bending down so far just go down a little then pick up the unit put something under it temporarily then get another bite on it ,your not bending so far when you're ready move the temp piece and you're off!
@6:25 tip your piece... tipping it dangerously because if its top heavy, nobody is stopping it from tipping over and if one or both apply too much pressure it will fall over and no one will save it. this is quite a handy tool for inexperienced people or people who arent acustomed to lifting something heavy for movers however applying this takes 5 times the time it takes to get any piece anywhere... but thats the point of it all, its ment for non professionals. a washing machine weighing 230 pounds goes up 2 stairs in 1 minute when professionals do it getting the harness prepped and getting acustomed to it takes 10-20 minutes, but then again, someone inexperienced with heavy lifting wont even get it up 2 stairs without such a tool
This is an excellent video. I've seen some that combines a moving blanket and straps. Basically to protect expensive furniture. Would you know what that's called?
Started a moving job recently and remembered using these a couple years ago while helping a friend move. Bought a set right away and it's amazing. Any advice to prevent slipping? When I stand up usually the strap slips an inch or two. Haven't dropped anything but I worry that it could happen
can this be used with a very heavy, long ranch oak dresser, going up a flight of basement steps? The dresser top is about 3 ft from the ground (as in 3 FT. TALL).
Still a hazard. If you or your partner isn’t on the same page you can get injured.I tried these on a 48 inch wolf gas stove(most of those stoves are pretty heavy)prob over 600-800 pounds.Simple stuff yeah I would advise to use straps, your body will tell you on heavy stuff..hey man I don’t think you wanna do this! I’m getting over a muscle strain/torn that has lasted over two months. Our straps don’t have a back harness though
Yeah. Sorta like trying to go off-road with a Lamborghini! Or like using a chainsaw to filet a fish. Sometimes ya have to figure it out as ya go. These are very handy and helpful for moving most large furniture items.
Strap dolley is better. If ur tired in the middle of the stairs u can stop and put stuff down. In that technique, u cant stop and cant put down the dryer, ur carrying the weight all the time. Another thing also if accident happen like out of balance, u will drop the dryer all d way down to stairs together with u and ur partner.
we used "hump straps" on occasion...some of the big city movers could do tricks with them...moving a full tv set by themselves....this devise would probably save your back....one mover tumbled head over heels down 2 flights of stairs in San Francisco with a refrigerator strapped to him...nearly killed.
Seems both guys would need to pull about the same amount of strap out or one guys end would be higher off the ground than the others. Or if one person is alot taller than the other. How is this best resolved? Thanks
@ 0:52 He mistakenly said, "You should have an 'X' pattern here." But he perhaps obviously should have said, 'H'. Also he should have mentioned that the triangle fittings work best when positioned at the base of your pelvis (hips as illustrated) for best load control. @ 2:20 The carabiners are actually stronger when locked, but more importantly, when working in a cramped space, they won't tangle or snag on clothing or other lines. @ 2:20 I wonder if it is really necessary to disconnect the harness from the straps. I just undo the chest buckle & let the harness drop. @ 5:15 Note the better posture of the speaker compared to the aide. Even better would be to lean back slightly, so the weight goes thru the hips, where the harness should be designed to put the weight. I modified mine to have a sacral belt with straps to the triangle fittings, to do just this. Much easier on the back, and encourages better posture & strap control, while lifting & carrying. @ 6:50 It certainly looks like they are planning to go up some steps. With that in mind, the lift should have been planned to raise above the level of the steps, so that the follower need not stand on tip-toe (or higher?) as he approaches them, to prevent the load from scraping or just getting stuck. (If that does happen in this case, it is still easy to stop. Rest (at least his end of) the load on the step. Re-adjust his end of the strap. And continue.) @ 7:45 Note: "big" is not wide, just normal steps. {The military used to teach troops to march "route step" to avoid causing bridges to swing underfoot.} Depending on the rhythm of your load, you might practice stepping in or out of sync with your partner, to avoid the swing. @9:33 He says, "You want to have your hands lower...". Before you are on the stairs, level with your shoulders is still appropriate, but as the load rises, lower your hands as needed to maintain control. Notice the side of the load gets closer to the downstairs mover, and farther from the upstairs mover, so the downstairs mover must take more responsibility for the balance, since the upstairs mover might have difficulty even reaching the load. There should be more cautions about the instability involved in moving up a staircase, and practicing the first few steps several times ( to ensure the downstairs mover can maintain control for a step or two near the floor in case of a topple) is well advised. Good video. I think it might have been shot at a wobbly work bench because the tools hanging behind tended to swing with his body emphasis. ;-)

I used the shoulder dolly with two guys to lift a 600lb 120 year old upright grand piano with no problem and place a 4 wheel dolly underneath.
Comments from 6 years back were so much nicer than 2019...
That's awesome. Been in the moving industry for years and never saw this till today. I will be buying these. 🤘
Awesome demo, especially with the common mistakes. Clarity is magical.
