I like the camouflage job you started on the pipes.
Great videos, I'm learning so much! Would you mind giving me an even more detailed explanation of the hook-up for the top cap where the 3" pipe enters into the tote? Thanks!
Thanks for watching Liberty Hunter, basically I took a 3.5 inch hole saw and cut a hole in the lid. After that I connected 3 inch threaded male and female adapters between the lid. I also included a home made gasket when connecting the adapters, the adapters will not tighten flush. To ensure a tight fit you will needs to make something similar. From there I used a short piece of 3 inch pvc pipe ( 6 inches or so ) and a 3 inch pvc 90, then from the 90 I have a 3 inch pipe tied into the first flush diverter and gutter down spout. In between the 3in adapter on the lid and the 3 inch pipe ( about 6 inches ) I placed a pantyhose around the pipe, then I pushed the pipe into the adapter on the lid. Its a tight fit, I also did the same on the 90 adapter. This away I can catch the pebbles that fall of the shingles. Does this help, or what specific part?
WONDERFUL videos Trenton... would you mind telling me what are those 3 pipes below the gutter drop for? those are closed at the bottom, why? is that to filter gutter rocks or roof dust etc?, and THANKS for such detailed videos
Sea Swell, that is a first flush diverter. Have you watch this video? Step 4 - IBC Rainwater Harvesting System - First Flush Diverter
The diverter catches the first water of each rain, that water is the heaviest in debris. The cap at the bottom allows you to clean the pipes out and they also act as a automatic reset. By leaving the caps loose they leak out slowly and automatically reset themselves for each rain.
Thank you
Trenton, thanks so much for all the videos... great work and a HUGE help! Where did you get the 4"x3" rectangle to 3" round pipe piece? I haven't been able to find them anywhere around me...
icul00kin I located mine at a local hardware store. Call a local gutter company if you can not find one,or try these links.. One thing I have learned is to order online and wait a few days rather than drive all over town looking for a single part.
