React content is so boring but I get WHY people watch it. People love hearing and seeing other's reactions on things that they have their own opinion on, so it's easy to see why. I miss his mount offs lol and I'm sure people hate those
What's amazing to me about your streams is that for the entire duration, you never stop interacting with your audience. You're basically talking for 6 or 7 hours straight and somehow you manage to keep things interesting. You're commentary is thought provoking, your stories are hilarious and you keep things real. It doesn't matter to me what game you play. You could put your stream in "Just Chatting" and I would still watch it. I"m going to miss it when our country gets back to normal and I have to return to the office. I'll still watch portions of the VOD's, but won't have time to watch them in their entirety. Now as for your UA-cam channel, my advice is to plug it some during your streams. You have anywhere from 30K to 60K (and probably over 100K unique?) viewers every stream. That's a lot of people that clearly already have an interest in you. I've heard you plug Twitter before, but not UA-cam. Maybe you have and I missed it? As for the content, I like it when you talk about random topics that aren't video game related since you cover the video game stuff on your streams. In other words, keep doing what you're doing. Monetization? Having to watch an ad before watching the video isn't a big deal to me, so do it if you think it will help grow the channel.

This channel is just so damn good and real. I also couldn't agree more about the chat just generally being much better and ur attitude on stream being more chilled and having some extra creative and vocal freedom.
That's the sad thing about youtube really, you can never really have both of: "what you want" and "what you have to do". Sadly that's the way it is and I you need to compromise. I don't think people really care too much about ads on videos nowadays unless it's like 10 ads in a 10 minute video. Just enable monetisation and leave the default settings, maybe if someday you don't feel like editing a video you can get a friend or something to do it for you and they can get that revenue. It's always an unfavourable hit and miss when it comes to reaching a wide audience with content that You like to make. Like, the "I'll Drive" video was awesome! but I doubt a large majority of people will want to sit through 18 minutes of you running people over in Warzone. You always have to compromise and think how it can do better if you want it to perform well, like "ah, maybe i should edit it down to a really explosive 5 minute video, to get more people interested" or stuff like that. So I think yea you should enable monetisation, and not worry about it, if it lets you reach even a bit more people then that's good enough. And since you don't really want to focus on making money and stuff, it's pretty clear that you should just make whatever you find fun for this channel! It Might not get too much attention... but the core audience of the channel will appreciate it. Frequent uploads also help for the channel to get recommended. Also, the streams have been amazing, thanks for coming back and good luck moving forward!
It doesn't have to be that way guys! Some of the big youtubers with millions of views per vid have one new vid a week or even slower. Some that I watch, PaluluMan, Kim Riven, Internet historian, Dunkey.. or even guys that have more frequent vids but have help. Any highschool kid that has a penchant for editing will do it for just the exposure. Send your stream or even all your offline content to them and they will edit an awesome vid for YT without copywrited music. Don't burn yourself out, you are a content creator not an editor. Dont' you go anywhere either Grim! Ultimately, the best thing you can have is a series where it's normal to have half hour vids like LoL's bronze to master etc, each vid is one game, 30 mins+ like solorenekton. Maybe it's WoW, how far can I get in 30 minutes each class in shadowlands and first impressions. Let your editor tell you what people are responding well to.. Those are the two best non burnout methods but yeah 6 days is not healthy, work it out boys!
This channel really allows us a chance to see the “man behind the curtain”. I’m on the road for my job a lot and being grounded and home-based during these tumultuous times, it’s always refreshing to be able to turn on your stream for an escape, for some enjoyment and for some really unique takes. The level of excitement I have towards Shadowlands has been amplified because of your excitement and art crawls, etc. Whatever you decide to do, it’s to be supported. Keep it up!

On a more personal note, I've watched your content since your early days on twitch back in 2014 when you'd stream at the most odd hours. I remember stalking your twitter to see when you'd be going live. Throughout your success you've always been the same down to earth guy, and I think that's one of the bigger reasons why we all appreciate you. As weird as it sounds I've always seen this channel as a way for us to "hang out" so to speak, even though you're the one doing all the talking. If playing the youtube algo game in order to help this content grow is what it takes then big dick deeps that shit.

I never write in Chat, but watching your stream feels like exactly you want.. Just hanging out with your friends. I am 36 years old, and the carefreeness of our youth is what many of us are missing in our lives, where we have to be ‚grown up‘ all the time. I am very glad you took your long break. Creating distance is key. You seemed somewhat anxious before the first stream, but now you seem far more relaxed than before the break. Now Regarding your content - - for UA-cam ( ZackRawr ) Like others have said, the great thing about this channel is, that we get to see more of Zack and not Asmongold. And I would suggest keeping it that way. I personally love listening to your more serious discussions and destructuring of topics, but also off-topic Vlogs and silly stuff. In general, I would build on that. This also would ensure to not get too commercial. My personal suggestions would be: * More discussions. Alone and maybe even with others. Remote or in person. Topics could include WoW of course, but also other stuff. I don’t want to scare you with the word ‚Podcast’, because I think it is overused and sounds like too much organizational work. But I would personally love that. * Stuff like the Gardening Streams * Little Vlogs - for Twitch ( Asmongold ) We don’t have much Classic content right now, but it is really understandable why. Transferring to a PvE Realm is really the obvious choice, but puts all Olympus Members and your friends on the server in a weird position. I don’t have a good idea for this problem, but I think the best you can do is talk to your Guild and your Friends about it. I would suggest continuing to build out your strength in driving community events. Through new members, it organically is new content every time and creates a strong bond between you and your community. TransMog Competitions or like the new Death Rolling Event is always fun. I don’t know about other games. You already have the right mindset, I think. I would be very picky for the other games you play on Stream, which you already are. Other online games like New World could be fun, but I would avoid single-player games, which is what you also already doing. I think personally that this channel really reinforce the "friendship' bond that we have with you, and I really don't want that to go away. When you are streaming, we're having fun and laughing, and this channel is more of a serious and deep conversation.

4:25 I'd honestly love to see you continue the DS2 playthrough. It was your DS1 stream that really gave me the push to play and beat DS1 and DS3 and I always found it to be a really cool journey to see how you work through the game. Same here, got into Dark Souls a year ago after I saw him play and how awesome it was. I actually got into asmon himself because of it as well. I wasn’t really aware of him until I laughed my ass off at the DS highlights

I am probably your mom’s age, and WoW is the only game I really have time to play. Therefore I am not really your audience, but I enjoy your stream anyway. You make me laugh and forget about the world for a little while. I normally run your stream in a separate monitor while I play. Honestly, I stopped playing when this last patch dropped, I just couldn’t get motivated to play. But I’m super excited for Shadowlands, So I have been just coming on and doing some mount hunting. I probably won’t watch you stream FPS games, but I’m sure your audience will follow you, you are very talented and engaging. Honestly very interesting how diverse his audience is when it comes to peoples ages. I would have never thought he would capture an older audience but he is a really smart guy and I think that attracts a lot of people.

Seems like you've persisted through the ups and down of Blizzard's game but you look at it for what it is. Your channel is great for me to watch as your really old vids on here remind me of what my mates used to do with playing old wow, playing super smash bros mellee etc. They are all great memories and it looks like these games still hold up today for people!

You definitely need more McConnell time! The thing that's consistently been the high points of your stream, is the banter between you and McConnell. McConnell commenting on you playing Dark Souls is just the best content in any stream ever! You should put more of an effort into making shit work with McConnell again.
Thing is Mcconnell is only good as a sidekick that doesn't take too much place. When Classic launched something changed. He just got too much light on him. From the smart sidekick to the toxic sidekick kinda. I loved Mcconnell pre-classic launch, not so much after.
I went through this myself. I make my money from other sources for my business. I didn't want to "pay gate" the channel. Through testing and research what I found was engagement went down without the ads. The idea was that the viewer needs an even exchange. If they are always taking away entertainment and such from you. They feel guilty by not paying their fair share. By having the 1 ad in the beginning, you can remind people that, this does help you. In general humans want to reciprocate. If your friend helps you move, you feel obligated to buy them dinner some day, and you yourself will feel better for doing so if you're an average human.
I hope one day the twitch viewers mature enough where we can have "Zack days" and not just asmogold 24/7. I prefer mature conversations and not just goofballs all the time. I like the new streams but I try to avoid the chat.
I like these videos. I always believed that when a content creator gives their reasons for something or their plans it makes them seem more honest and human in the eyes of their audience. Which enforces the people watching to be more kind and caring. I haven't always agreed or liked what you have done as a streamer (Pre-break, don't know about now. haven't been able to join streams lately) but you've always had my respect for being real and showing what you really stand for. I know there is no need for me to say this, but never try to act in a way that you don't believe in, even if it is taken negatively.
I love the content you create man, I started watching during the re release of vanilla and stayed because of the funny shit you do and say. Honestly I'm just glad you're taking care of yourself. I just want to say, your streams are what i look forward to almost everyday considering corona, it really brightens my day and its very interesting to listen to different conversations about wow, other games or even real life in general. In addition to that, different games like dark souls are great, you do a great job at games where story is not the main focus, you are free to talk over the gameplay. Dark souls streams were for sure my favorite content you have done.

You're just so into what you like when you stream. I've subbed and dropped out of WoW several times with years of gaps between tries and never more than 1-2 months at a time, but you make the game engaging to watch and hear about.

Your view of content creation is really something I can respect. For sure you will want visibility here, because it's awesome content. Real discussions like this that are well articulated. Hopefully even if you end up needing to monetize for visibility, you can still consider the channel to be unmonetized in your heart. Or maybe donate the money it makes automatically somehow.

I love how this youtube channel is more of a debrief, it's raw and authentic vs your streams, which are more showman and have that level of entertainment factor. I like both because it reflects the different sides of you. While I'm just a viewer it still feels like a personal connection. When you took your break it was like losing a friend in the sense of seeing them every day to not seeing them at all. I'm really glad you're back. I don't mind what you do in terms of content or monetization but I can say that these little surprises that show up in my feed (like the 5 mil death roll for a long boi) are really keeping things fresh and entertaining. I really like the idea of a personal YT channel, separated as you said from a more commercial vibe. An idea for this channel: make videos as a critique of your own content here on YT. Also, vlogging IRL stuff (hobbies, side gigs, etc...), more introspective videos/your thoughts on things that does not necessarily pertain directly to gaming. Interesting content does matter - but so do you Zack. As you probably know - with personality one builds a loyal audience. Let us get to know the IRL Asmon more.

I watched here and there on twitch years ago, but it's just that streaming is not my type of thing overall since you're trying to be people's entertainment for much of it. I've always been interested to more so hear your thoughts on stuff especially from your position. As for the content, I like it when you talk about random topics that aren't video game related since you cover the video game stuff on your streams. In other words, keep doing what you're doing. Monetization? Having to watch an ad before watching the video isn't a big deal to me, so do it if you think it will help grow the channel.

This channel is just so damn good and real. I also couldn't agree more about the chat just generally being much better and ur attitude on stream being more chilled and having some extra creative and vocal freedom.
That's the sad thing about youtube really, you can never really have both of: "what you want" and "what you have to do". Sadly that's the way it is and I you need to compromise. I don't think people really care too much about ads on videos nowadays unless it's like 10 ads in a 10 minute video. Just enable monetisation and leave the default settings, maybe if someday you don't feel like editing a video you can get a friend or something to do it for you and they can get that revenue. It's always an unfavourable hit and miss when it comes to reaching a wide audience with content that You like to make. Like, the "I'll Drive" video was awesome! but I doubt a large majority of people will want to sit through 18 minutes of you running people over in Warzone. You always have to compromise and think how it can do better if you want it to perform well, like "ah, maybe i should edit it down to a really explosive 5 minute video, to get more people interested" or stuff like that. So I think yea you should enable monetisation, and not worry about it, if it lets you reach even a bit more people then that's good enough. And since you don't really want to focus on making money and stuff, it's pretty clear that you should just make whatever you find fun for this channel! It Might not get too much attention... but the core audience of the channel will appreciate it. Frequent uploads also help for the channel to get recommended.

It doesn't have to be that way guys! Some of the big youtubers with millions of views per vid have one new vid a week or even slower. Some that I watch, PaluluMan, Kim Riven, Internet historian, Dunkey.. or even guys that have more frequent vids but have help. Any highschool kid that has a penchant for editing will do it for just the exposure. Send your stream or even all your offline content to them and they will edit an awesome vid for YT without copywrited music. Don't burn yourself out, you are a content creator not an editor. Dont' you go anywhere either Grim! Ultimately, the best thing you can have is a series where it's normal to have half hour vids like LoL's bronze to master etc, each vid is one game, 30 mins+ like solorenekton. Maybe it's WoW, how far can I get in 30 minutes each class in shadowlands and first impressions. Let your editor tell you what people are responding well to.. Those are the two best non burnout methods but yeah 6 days is not healthy, work it out boys!

I’m on the road for my job a lot and being grounded and home-based during these tumultuous times, it’s always refreshing to be able to turn on your stream for an escape, for some enjoyment and for some really unique takes. The level of excitement I have towards Shadowlands has been amplified because of your excitement and art crawls, etc. Whatever you decide to do, it’s to be supported. Keep it up!

On a more personal note, I've watched your content since your early days on twitch back in 2014 when you'd stream at the most odd hours. I remember stalking your twitter to see when you'd be going live. Throughout your success you've always been the same down to earth guy, and I think that's one of the bigger reasons why we all appreciate you. As weird as it sounds I've always seen this channel as a way for us to "hang out" so to speak, even though you're the one doing all the talking. I never write in Chat, but watching your stream feels like exactly you want.. Just hanging out with your friends. I am 36 years old, and the carefreeness of our youth is what many of us are missing in our lives, where we have to be ‚grown up‘ all the time. I am very glad you took your long break. Creating distance is key. You seemed somewhat anxious before the first stream, but now you seem far more relaxed than before the break.
Now Regarding your content -

Like others have said, the great thing about this channel is, that we get to see more of Zack and not Asmongold. And I would suggest keeping it that way. I personally love listening to your more serious discussions and destructuring of topics, but also off-topic Vlogs and silly stuff. In general, I would build on that. This also would ensure to not get too commercial.
My personal suggestions would be:
* More discussions. Alone and maybe even with others. Remote or in person. Topics could include WoW of course, but also other stuff. I don’t want to scare you with the word ‚Podcast’, because I think it is overused and sounds like too much organizational work. But I would personally love that.
* Stuff like the Gardening Streams
* Little Vlogs
- for Twitch ( Asmongold )
We don’t have much Classic content right now, but it is really understandable why. Transferring to a PvE Realm is really the obvious choice, but puts all Olympus Members and your friends on the server in a weird position. I don’t have a good idea for this problem, but I think the best you can do is talk to your Guild and your Friends about it.
I would suggest continuing to build out your strength in driving community events. Through new members, it organically is new content every time and creates a strong bond between you and your community. TransMog Competitions or like the new Death Rolling Event is always fun.
I don’t know about other games. You already have the right mindset, I think. I would be very picky for the other games you play on Stream, which you already are. Other online games like New World could be fun, but I would avoid single-player games, which is what you also already doing.

I think personally that this channel really reinforce the "friendship' bond that we have with you, and I really don't want that to go away. When you are streaming, we're having fun and laughing, and this channel is more of a serious and deep conversation.

2. I love the candid content here. We get a 'behind the scenes' look into what a popular streamer is experiencing. Monetization is irrelevant to me. I have to skip through ads to watch basically everything else on this site, so it doesn't bother me at all.
3. As far as your stream, it doesn't make any difference what you play as long as you're enjoying playing. When it feels like a chore, it shows.

Seems like you've persisted through the ups and down of Blizzard's game but you look at it for what it is. I went through this myself. I make my money from other sources for my business. I didn't want to "pay gate" the channel. Through testing and research what I found was engagement went down without the ads. The idea was that the viewer needs an even exchange. If they are always taking away entertainment and such from you. They feel guilty by not paying their fair share. By having the 1 ad in the beginning, you can remind people that, this does help you. In general humans want to reciprocate. If your friend helps you move, you feel obligated to buy them dinner some day, and you yourself will feel better for doing so if you're an average human.
I hope one day the twitch viewers mature enough where we can have "Zack days" and not just asmogold 24/7. I prefer mature conversations and not just goofballs all the time. I like the new streams but I try to avoid the chat.
I like these videos. I always believed that when a content creator gives their reasons for something or their plans it makes them seem more honest and human in the eyes of their audience. Which enforces the people watching to be more kind and caring. I haven't always agreed or liked what you have done as a streamer (Pre-break, don't know about now. haven't been able to join streams lately) but you've always had my respect for being real and showing what you really stand for. I know there is no need for me to say this, but never try to act in a way that you don't believe in, even if it is taken negatively.

I just want to say, your streams are what i look forward to almost everyday considering corona, it really brightens my day and its very interesting to listen to different conversations about wow, other games or even real life in general. In addition to that, different games like dark souls are great, you do a great job at games where story is not the main focus, you are free to talk over the gameplay. Dark souls streams were for sure my favorite content you have done.

You're just so into what you like when you stream. I've subbed and dropped out of WoW several times with years of gaps between tries and never more than 1-2 months at a time, but you make the game engaging to watch and hear about.

I love how this youtube channel is more of a debrief, it's raw and authentic vs your streams, which are more showman and have that level of entertainment factor. I like both because it reflects the different sides of you. While I'm just a viewer it still feels like a personal connection. When you took your break it was like losing a friend in the sense of seeing them every day to not seeing them at all. I'm really glad you're back. I really like the idea of a personal YT channel, separated as you said from a more commercial vibe. An idea for this channel: make videos as a critique of your own content here on YT. Also, vlogging IRL stuff (hobbies, side gigs, etc...), more introspective videos/your thoughts on things that does not necessarily pertain directly to gaming.
Interesting content does matter - but so do you Zack. As you probably know - with personality one builds a loyal audience. Let us get to know the IRL Asmon more.

I am honestly exhausted by other youtubers' constant ads, sponsorships, and merchandise pushing. Seeing videos made just for the art / fun of is a breath of fresh air. At the end of the day I hope you do what you feel the most passionate for.
