    Hi Josh, Ollie, and Andy.
Have some interesting facts for you regarding chicken salt. Hold onto your hats because its about to get exciting!
A little known fact about chicken salt is that it was developed by a man here in South Australia - who is still alive today, I believe.
So what is chicken salt you ask?
In answer to this question here are some following facts.
Chicken salt was developed by a young man in the 1970's in a town called Gawler, South Australia while he was working in his family's chicken shop. It ( the chicken salt ) was originally created to season the chickens before cooking as he wanted a complimentary taste to add to the chickens for his customers. Not long after this, the chicken salt became popular when customers started to add it to their chips.
That man's name is Peter Brinksworth.
I believe the original recipe he invented had the following ingredients:
    Onion powder
    Garlic powder
    Celery salt
    Paprika
    Chicken bouillon
and a dash of Keen's curry powder.
Adam Liaw, ( A chef here in Australia ) went to school with Peter's youngest daughter, Jodie Brinksworth, who was proud of her dad's creation.
Unfortunately, Peter lost one of his daughters to cancer and he sold the shop, including the recipe to the original chicken salt.
Hope that helps you guys and thank you for yet another amazing video.

I'm a Brit living in Perth, Western Australia and omg, it's so validating to hear other Brits agreeing that Aussie fish and chips are way better than what's available in the UK! 😁
Most of the chippies near me sell snapper as their primary battered, fried fish offering and it's amazing -- so buttery and flakey 🥰 It has so much flavour on its own that it just doesn't need to be drowned in vinegar, haha.
And omg yes, chicken salt is the best, lol.

I'm an Australian and I've tried fish and chips all over the UK during three diffrent holidays. I've had some excellent home made style chips in the UK and some perfectly cooked fish. However, the quality of the fish is what lets it down. In Australia there seems to be many more choices when it comes to fish and the fish is generally a much better quality. So overall I agree with you.

(My theory) the problem with englands fish snd chips is they use the wrong temperature to fry in and the oil ends up soaked into the food. Either that it its just what you get from using lard.

    • @MEL.FreeToRoam
      @MEL.FreeToRoam 2 роки тому +1

I’d have to agree, best temp to deep fry is 175 deg Celsius or higher, you need to seal the food before it cooks or else the food absorbs the oil while cooking. The worst time to order fish n chips is when it’s not busy, check out how they leave the temps down low and as soon as you’ve placed your order they turn the temp up to cook your food.
