Hollywood production companies will ‘do anything’ to get into Chinese market

  • The “little detail” which forced the new Barbie movie to be banned in Vietnam was no mistake as the production company hopes for the movie to be broadcast in China, according to Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielson.
“The Chinese government deliberately limits access for American movies that are allowed to be broadcast in China,” she said.
“They allow a maximum of 34 each year that are only allowed to be distributed through two state-owned companies - Deadline reports only 15 American films were actually allowed last year.
“So when movie producers let details like that slip in, remember this: Those are wins for the Chinese government.
“Hollywood production companies will do anything to get into the market that boasted $US4 billion in ticket sales last year.”

I'd boycott the movie, but TBH I've been boycotting Hollywood's trash for 20 years. Y'all should try it, you'd be shocked at how much better your life becomes.

So China can ban US movies. Their choice, I get it. I would ban the Barbie movie also. BUT if the US want's to ban tic-toc it becomes an international crisis and the US is trying to censer China? 🙃

Even China has the world TikTok banned in the country, they have their own version. Look into it. American movies bend a lot just so china won’t ban their movie because America profits from Chinese partnerships which is why they’ve done nothing about North Korea except all talk

China is not very lucrative when you look at the bigger picture. The problem is movie studios only keep 25% of the gross in China. Compare that to 55% of the domestic (U.S) gross. Your film has to gross twice as much in China to make the same net it would domestically.

The movie undermines law-based nations around the world.
    - Why does Hollywood put an illegal Chinese map in a Barbie movie?

Its changed. It wasnt always so currupt with its messaging. Sure there may have been a few hard to swallow films in the past. Not to this degree. We used to have movies like spy kids for younger audiences that help promote unity and having a healthy family. We had movies like agent cody banks even for teens in high school that were getting to a bit more of a mature content level. They still didnt go to out right porn. Then there was things like the alien franchise which were for a more mature audience and the scifi horror genre lovers. For childrens scifi content we had things like cyber chase or tmnt. For young adult or adult medieval fantasy we had things like lord of the rings or game of thrones. For childrens medieval fantasy we had things like dragon tales tv show and the sword in the stone movie or snow white. Then theres the difference in comedic dramas today from those like friends or sabrina the teenage witch when I was growing up. Im going to be honest even as a guy I like the show sabrina the teenage witch. It had witty humor, likable characters, a well centered plot to focus around, and lessons to be learned, some educational content that could be related to what a teen is learning in school. all without inserting a bunch of airheaded political views. It actually had some quick jabs at politics in the comedy very breifly for like 1 time per episode like every 4 or 5 episodes. Maybe even longer of a stretch. It wasnt up in your face about it and didnt make it long enough that you could even realise the joke was political at 1st. They would be these 3-4 word inserts. Funnily enough talking about how crazy extreme liberals can get or political talking points. Its nothing new, the issues we face today that is. We just somehow got on the track of promoting the wrong messages if you ask me. It spread like a wild fire as hate and fear tends to do. Excuse my terminology I realise wild fires are a touchy subject these days.
