Ever since you told us about the Australian Gold spf 50 I use mine ALL the time on my face and bought a spray mineral one for children with spf 50 (that feels like a moisture lotion and too much for my face!)to use on my arms, shoulders and chest, especially when I am driving. Before I heard you speak on sunspots and sunscreen I couldn't figure out WHY the LEFT side of my face had a few small sunspots and not my right side. I felt so dumb! DUH! THAT is the side that is held hostage right by the window when I drive! I make sure to coat EVERYTHING now! I am so glad you told us about the A.G. because I can wear it alone with the tint or it works SO well under makeup and it ISN'T GREASY! It dries matte and I don't even feel it! LOVE it! Also love NO white ashy look or flashback! Will have to check out the new Asian ones next! THANK you for all you do! I can't use chemical sunscreens AT ALL without burning, swollen eyes etc. So I appreciate the information!

I’ve suffered from migraines since I was a kid so the sun has never been my friend. I always have an umbrella or I don’t go out at all. People are always surprised at how old I am and I think that the lack of sun exposure (I even use blackout curtains during the day) has helped me look younger.
    I love your videos! 💜❤️

April 🥀Rose I didn’t think about the use of blackout curtains and sun exposure! I worked graveyard shift in the 90’s so I used black out curtains to sleep during the day! I get a lot of compliments on my youthful looks at 49 years old!💪🏽💯💜

Yes, yes, yes! In 2009 I was outside with my students for a short field day and received the worst sunburn of my life (blisters, fever, chills, etc). I also have skin cancer in my family and used tanning beds (gasp) in my 20s. Today, I slather on sunscreen and I regret every tanning bed session I ever had. Due to an autoimmune problem, I am very sensitive to the sun now, too. I can get a sunburn through my jeans! I preach this to my daughter on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing, Angie!

Thanks for the great recommendations Angie. I will be 60 in one month. Since I was in my mid-thirties I have used sunscreen every day and militantly avoided the sun. I also wear fingerless gloves when I drive. I think my sun avoidance was the most important thing I have done to keep my skin looking younger.💝💝💝

Sunscreen junkie here 🙂 I used to use skinsceuticals tinted physical fusion but found would sit ON the skin and didn't really absorb or set. It was a little hard to apply makeup over. But more importantly would get on my eyeglasses and scratch the lenses! (Took me a while to figure that out) My new goto is elta md uv elements tinted. It feels wonderful, has great ingredients and sets nicely. It can be a little pale on my medium skin so I use 1 pump mixed with 1 pump IT cosmetics cc cream and get a perfect color and natural looking coverage. I carry IT cosmetics cc+ airbrush perfecting powder SPF 50 to take down any shine and boost protection throughout the day. I have dry, sensitive skin. Can NOT use chemical sunscreen due to the burning sensation.

Angie, fabulous video. 👍🏼👍🏼 This is very important information.
I’m a cancer data collector and want to thank you for emphasizing how deadly skin cancer is...especially melanoma. The incidence of skin cancer is very alarming and has increased over the years.
Side note: Even though basal and squamous cell skin cancer is less deadly, and very curable compared to melanoma, it can be very disfiguring. The surgeon needs to excise a large margin of healthy skin around and below the skin cancer lesion to ensure that it’s actually cured and it’s not unusual to need a skin graft from another part of your body to achieve a better cosmetic result after a deep excision of the skin cancer lesion.

Hi Angie, you forgot to say that Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) is often "nano" in facial sunscreens and it should be coated with Silica or Alumina to avoid that it causes free radicals into your skin. So it's important to check it out.

Very impressive video. Thanks Angie. I live in Arizona, back in the late 1970's one day a co-worker came to work with a huge piece of her nose removed. YIKES!!! It looked like the doctor took a melon baller to the bridge of her nose. She had skin cancer Talk about a wake up call to all of us at work. Sunscreen was just getting started in those days. Sandi was approximately 35-40 years old. Born and raised in the south and spent her whole life outside. Sandi is still living, in her 70's, still working outside a lot. Her and her husband make killer statues for the outside. They have done many things for the famous Canyon Ranch Spa and Retreat. So sunscreen works and is so very important Ladies.

I bought the Australian Gold lotion based on your recommendation, and I love it. It's become my favorite facial mineral sunscreen and it's so affordable. And you're right; it does seem to act like a primer. In fact, I think it's a better primer than most actual primers I've used. Thanks for this great video with a very thorough explanation of sunscreens. I'm a huge proponent of using sunscreen, and I've been vigilant about it for years (ever since I had a precancerous mole removed and decided that's as close to skin cancer as I ever want to get). Just a huge THANK YOU.. very informative and thorough. As are all your videos.. Also thank you for brining awareness to Melanoma. I am going to share our family's loss in hopes of helping someone. So if you don't want to hear it please skip to the next review.
I lost my amazing, loving, beautiful mother to Melanoma. A doctors appointment for ongoing headaches ultimatley lead to her diagnosis. There were no other symptoms, only headaches. She was 42, healthy and unassuming. The cancer had traveled to her brain from a nonspecific area on her body. She took her health serious. She did her annual exams, she put effort into living healthy. Within 6 months, Melanoma had taken her from us. Because she didn't know about the dangers of sun exposure until later in her life, she didn't have the chance to take preventitive measures. She didn't have the chance to avoid what we all know now can and will kill us. Please take this serious. It is real. It does happen to people of all ages.

Honestly, it's not just anti-aging, it's saving lives. I can't use a chemical sunscreen at all, I tried Cerave's AM moisturizer and it burned my face. Hi Angie. I live in Florida and the Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 is hands down my favorite because of the natural ingredients and also because the slight tint and formula is lovely on the skin. I wear it every day, often with nothing else but a bit of concealer under my eyes. I sweep Rouge Bunny Rouge Imperceptible powder over it and I'm out the door with a smooth, protected face. Spot on as always, Angie - I would absolutely recommend anyone who has melasma to choose physical over chemical sunscreens...I think chemical sunscreens made mine worse - mineral much more gentle and effective. 😞 I wanted to love it, and searched for it for months before I found it, but it was awful for me. It oxidized and looked a bit orange on my fair skin, it clung to every dry patch, and the smell was very sulfurous to me (which made me severely nauseous). I was so sad because it worked so well for Angie, but c'est la vie! I bought the one for face and the one for body, so if any of you ladies want it let me know and I will send it to you! Also, if any of you can recommend a good natural sunscreen that actually smells like sunscreen or smells like coconuts, I would love to try it. Thank you! 💖-Amirah

Yet another comprehensive quality content from your lab. Hours of work and dedication to your anti aging mission must be rewarding as you continue to deliver week after week. But what you did on this segment I believe will be life changing for all. You may not a have sharply printed chemistry parchment under glass, but what you do have is an audience (at this entry of over 300k) that is receptive and respects your research and opinion in spite of it. You are truly accomplished in this field, the respect we have for you in volumes is evident.
Angie, YOU are the best anti-aging ingredient to prevent wrinkles! : ) Never doubt that!

This is a super informative video Angie and very meaningful. Those percentages I believe are that people just don’t take exposure seriously enough. My dad a decade or so before his passing in 03 preached to me the dangers that my sun loving habit could bring based on his 3 melanoma removals from his face. So at that time in 1995 I promised him and I’ve kept it that I’d give up tanning beds and laying in sun just to bake like a chicken. Hahha! I’ve used sunscreen ever since then when at the pool or beach. Tanning became less important and sunless creams improved over the years and was quicker and safer skin color. I sadly forget to use daily and when gardening. I hate the greasy or heavy feel most impart. Got to change that this year. I do have an important question, why do the makers of these sunscreens not include all 3 necessary components, because my gosh it’s an extremely confusing ingredient list to go through, aye? I’d prefer a mineral based I believe though I am curious what factors are most important to you when choosing a sunscreen? Not sure if you directly stated or not like for oily skin or works well under makeup, etc. My apology for such a long reply, but skin especially anti-aging and repair aspect now has become a passion for me. Always appreciate your testing and tutorials and opinions. I thank you for the content you share. Peace!

Zinc oxide and avobenzone leave out a small part of UVA1 which Tinosorb M(not S) covers in sunscreens from other countries. But tinosorb M is not perfect either as it doesn’t block the middle part of UVA as good as Avobenzone. Uvinul A plus covers the same spectrum as avobenzone and is more stable so it’s basically a better version of avobenzone. So ideally, a perfect sunscreen should containTinosorb M, uvinul A plus, and an effective UVB block such as Titanium Oxide or Zinc Oxide.
Also Avobenzone can be stabilized by Octocrylene as well as destabilized by Titanium dioxide/Octinoxate so the isdin one is not really effective actually it’s got a reputation of NOT preventing people from getting a tan.

Great video! Just one thing, you shouldn't mix sunscreens as it can potentially reduce the protection. Each sunscreen provides protection based on the specific formulation, so you risk disrupting that when you mix! You can layer them though.

Great video, all your recommendations are so appreciated but having dry sensitive skin and dry eyes can make it difficult to know which sunscreen will not make skin sting and eyes tear. Any suggestions to help UA-cam followers with sensitivities find the right sunscreen? Thank you for encouraging women on how to look their best and to be good to ourselves as we age!

I use Image Daily Hydrating moisturizer SPF 30 18% Zinc Oxide which wears well under my foundation, it is a Broad Spectrum. For stonger coverage I use Image SPF 50 9% zinc oxide, octinoxate, octisalate. I have used the Hydropeptide SPF 50 which I recommend.

I say this every time, but these videos are my favorite. Even though I knew most of this info (from either your previous videos or my own research) I still hung on every word. I did not wear sunscreen daily until finding your videos about 4 years ago. Now I religiously wear sunscreen every day. I have combo skin and wear only mineral sunscreen. I do like the Hydropeptide and I immediately bought the Prem one as soon as you mentioned it and I have been wearing that daily since. I also have the Australian Gold. I talk about the importance of sunscreen to my family & friends hoping I can help someone the way you helped me (learn its value). I am loving this series. I have pretty much based my skin care routine off of many of yours. Your research is fantastic and lead me to do my own as well. Now I feel I use the best ingredients for my skin and have had amazing results. Hopefully I’ll start aging in reverse as you do! Thanks for all of your hard work and the effort you put into your videos. I never miss one!

Just want to share that I use the Sunprise and have dry skin. I don't find it drying at all as long as I use my usual serum, moisturiser and oil underneath. It might be too drying used on its own though, but what skin care addict uses only suncream with nothing else? ;) I've used it for a year now and love it! It's very cheap so everyone can afford to use it every day in sufficient amounts.

Thank you Angie!! I too started using sunscreen every day (been using the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen since you first reviewed it and have loved it every since)! I always wore sunscreen at the beach, pool, etc. as a very fair person but thought what was in my makeup was enough until watching you and your informative videos on how much to apply. Thank you!!!! I also get my skin checked every year by my dermatologist so I feel all things combined I am covering all my bases very well now.

My daughter walked into the kitchen while I was watching another one of your excellent & informative videos and said, "Oh, hey Ang". We used to refer to you as "Hot and Flashy" then we progressed to, "Angie" and now, you're just "Ang", a part of the family. In all sincerity, thank you so very much for this informative video on anti-again and just how important using sun screen truly is. My college daughter wears it ALL of the time and my High schooler..., well, we're working on it. ;)
