as a European it's great to find more creators from fellow Europeans and such high standards of work. Reminds me of an orriginal I was given by my uncle who kept a junk shop and found it in an old trunk he bought which alas I lost in my flit about youth. Lovely work.
Thank you for noticing! It took me 3 days of work to match all the pieces. I also had to use all the fabric I bought (7 m | 7.7 y) when I planned to use only half of it. So I consider myself lucky to have bought more ahah!
You’re probably the only UA-camr I’ve seen take out handmade lace for a historical sewing project-color me surprised! (Note: I can tell whether lace is handmade when the stitches are distinct)
Thank you very much! I own many antique laces, usually I'm afraid of using them if the garment have to be washed very frequently. For this dress I immediatly thought that the one used was perfect (and the dress probably will never be washed, at least with water).
Veramente brava !! Un bellissimo vestito e una pazienza e maestria uniche nel completarlo, con spiegazioni chiare. Davvero un ottimo lavoro, con un risultato stupefacente !!!!
As someone who takes months to finish relatively simple projects, your ability to get this dress done in so little time-including all the pattern matching and hand sewing-is nothing short of amazing. Sewing all those snaps down the center back must have been a nightmare! Or perhaps that’s just my ADHD talking 😅
I hated the snaps part as well, but the most hated opening method I have ever used is using hooks and eyes. I'd go mad if I was using them, this is also why I switched to snaps 😂
Outstanding work! May I suggest a 2x4 folding table you can place to your left as you sew? I am a quilter and frequently deal with very large pieces. I find the table gives me room to spread out and helps to keep the fabric from pulling and distorting the seams. When I'm done.... I put it away. Just a thought. Beautifully done....
This would meet my mother’s standards of perfection in dress planning, design, sewing and matching of patterns! Stunning work! 👏👏👏🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

If I had to hand sew that many snaps, I'd go crazy!
I'm proud of you too. What a stunning gown! You are so talented. Well done! Mr. Worth would approve.

I was thinking of purchasing one since a while, but I've never made an actual research 😅Thanks for the suggestion (and the reminder!😂)
the rust color is a strange choice for the cape. the dress is gorgeous, but the cape is dull. Well done!
