In both Japan and Australia, official Birkenstock store staff told me my size was 39 when I tried them on. Initially, I purchased size 39 as advised, but they felt slightly large, and the sandals' arch didn't match my foot's arch, causing a lot of pain. For my second pair, I followed my intuition and bought size 38, which fit perfectly in terms of arch, heel cup, and toe position, making them very comfortable. Although the straps on the size 38 fit on the second tightest hole at first, they stretched significantly over time, leading me to create a new hole for a better fit. I believe Birkenstock should consider improving the placement of strap holes.
I agree!
Very true!
Definitely. @birkenstock should see this comment
This is the most well produced help video I’ve ever seen from a brand 😂🎉 sooo visually helpful and aesthetic
Wow, thank you!
Your shoes are THE BEST. I have been a long time customer. The price is definitely worth it. Great quality, built in Germany so you know the staff is paid a fair wage. Although hard at first, once broken in they are FABULOUSLY COMFY.
you should definitely look up their history, you'll be surprised :D
One of the best fitting videos I’ve ever seen.
I love mine so much! They have formed to my feet so perfectly that I run to them as soon as I’m off work, when it’s warm out or even just in home use. I prefer them to regular shoes!
You wear shoes in your home? 🥴
Do you ever offer sandals for those of us whose second toe is much longer than their big toe?
I just got mine today. I ordered size UK7/Euro40 as they are my normal size in all other shoe brands but the clogs I received seems to be one size bigger than my normal size even thought size 40 is written on the footbed. I would definitely recommend buying at least half a size lower to others.
I recently bought the Arizona following this guide and just came back from vacation. Having seen this video, I would say at least 90% of the people have a too small fit (toes and heel touch the ends). I was wondering all the time if I did something wrong because everybody seems to be very happy with them, while I had some trouble finding comfort wearing them. Aren't the feet moving too much with so much space?
You need a video for bostons how they should fit.
I have them all in a 36, but wear a 37 in the open sandals. I have a 37 in the Pasadena but haven't really worn them enough to tell. I know this sounds ass backwards, but I'd rather my clogs be a better fit. I got a slick deal on the Pasadena so I bought them.
I’m a US mens 10 in every other shoe, but I’m a US men’s 8 in Birkenstocks and they fit perfect, birks are indeed larger then regular so when sizing just keep that in mind
Same here! I went straight for their size 10 and way too big.
I’m 8 in every other shoes so which size should I go then for the birks? The smallest size is only 7.
@@FranckYound 7 then if that’s the smallest you can get, but I’d make sure you get it from a place that can refund if the size is wrong, I made a mistake and brought a pair from a place that doesn’t refund and I had to spend another hundred to get the pair I actually needed
@@FranckYound I’d honestly go into a store and try them on
Mine just turned up today. I'm a 10.5 UK size, and ordered a EU44. Took a tape measure and compared it to the recommended gap on front and back mentioned in this video. Despite my toes giving about 10mm of space as suggested, the shoes FEEL like they might be too big. I've fastened them and I think Arizonas are designed to warp to fit your feet over time, instead of being a perfect fit out of the box. I'd rather they were slightly too big than too small, but of course I'd rather they fit my feet perfectly and they just don't make shoes to fit half sizes.
I'm EU44 and ordered that size and agree, they are too big.
Im a size 10.5 usa, and i went to a store and tried on different pairs, starting with 44 and they were wayyy too big for me, ended up with a 42 and they fit perfect for me
@@dbuddy117😊
Just a heads up for anyone purchasing a pair of these, they run VERY large compared to brands like Nike or Adidas. I generally wear a Men's US 10.5 in sneakers and a 10 in boots. With Birks, I wear a size 41 which is the equivalent of a Men's US 8 and they fit me perfectly. So I'd definitely either try them on before buying or getting them from somewhere that has a full refund and exchange policy like Amazon.
Yeah I also had to size down one size
Right, I had to size down too. Wear a 11.5 regular shoe, and a 10-10.5 Birk .
OR PLEASE USE THE MEASUREMENTS THEY HAVE ON THE SITE!! I did it and these fit PERFECTLY
Same, i also had to size down abt 2 sizes and they fit perfect
@@btnagasaki3029 Well no actually, if I used the measurements on the site (and I did measure precisely), I would’ve ended up with a size bigger than I have, which is still a size too big. They’re waaay out!
this is so helpfull. i buy twice wrong size before this.
same
I love my Birkies!! The only shoe that fits my feet perfectly!!!
About two months ago I bought my Boston pairs of shoes. I was more than satisfied , and now I am waiting for my Arizona ones 💕💕
I've bought my usual size, eu 42 ( i tried the 43 as well but it's definetly too big). Btw while walking some of my toes touch the borders even if the hallux is perfectly fine. It is impossibile for me to wear these shoes for long walks. I think the shape should be wider to accomodate all the toes and let them spread.
wow wish i knew this before i bought and wore them
One of my pairs of Birks is over 20 years old and still in great condition.
does it smell overtime? especially if it got soaked? Thanks!
@@JesusIsLord7773 mine don’t. But I probably don’t put mine thru the same wear and tear as someone else.
When you never wear them this can happen.
@@aaron___6014 as a teen pretty fresh out of high school and spending $130 on a pair of sandals, I considered it a luxury purchase. My parents would have never spent that kind of money. And so I grew up appreciating and taking great care of my purchases, especially expensive ones (sunglasses, denim, shoes, etc) I paid for. That’s why my things always last years upon years. Not because I never wear them.
@@aaron___6014 never
I wish you would make half sizes. I and normally a 8.5. I sized up to 9, and my foot was swimming in it. I tried 8 today, and it was just a little too small.
I have the same problem with the 7
same probplem.
Yep, same problem here
Same
Lynna Yee, Birkenstock makes different types of footbeds. They make the original footbed and the soft footbed. I would strongly suggest going to a retail store that carries Birkenstocks and getting properly fitted. It's possible you could wear a 9 with the soft footbed, or an 8 with the original footbed. The most important thing is not the sandal length but getting the arch of your foot to fit perfectly with the arch of the sandal. I like Happy Feet for getting a good fit with Birks.
My favorite shoe of all time!🥰
Can't wait to afford a brand new one...😊
Perfect sizing video. They do have half sizes as each size covers both. So for example a 42 would be a men's 9-9.5. If this doesn't fit quite right then order the standard foot bed over the soft as the added foam can cause sizing issues. I would strongly suggest the standard foot bed regardless as it is overall better for all foot types in the long run.
Friendly tip: it is OK for birkies to fit slightly bigger. You definitely need them to be larger than your usual shoes as the edges will roll in with time
I love Birkenstock and I own 3 all are Arizona they fit me perfectly. The only problem is my size is 51/2 when it goes on sale. It sale out fast. This year I was lucky Nordstrom give us time to select and put it on wishlist. Got my color and size on sale.
what about the rear heel strap on the Milano model? how snug should it be? should it be loose?
Lovely lovely - looks like the Natural Leather in Dark Brown. I was debating between this leather and the oiled in Habana. Think I'll go with this one.
I had to punch my holes to tighten the strap further such the max gap between my heel and top of the footbed is about 3cm .. when the gap is too big it makes a slapping noise when I walk
Best sandal ever.
They aren’t in the same universe as Mephisto sandals.
@@ahf5471 I am french and i can tell you that Mephisto are sh*t compare to Birkenstock. The qualities of Mephisto's sandals are really not good, specially the sole which gets damaged quickly. Also, Mephisto's customer service is not good at all...
@@christoffer6430 I second this. I'm not french but I live in France as well and can confirm the mediocrity of Mephisto sandals.
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅😊😊😊😊😊😊estas. Sandalias. Son. Geniales.
Helpful video. But not much is said about the difference in width. Is the footbed of the women’s Arizona actually narrower than the men’s; or is it the length of the straps that governs the width? I don’t consider my foot to be narrow; but I notice considerable overhang of the straps when I adjust the buckles on my Arizona. When I just stood on top of a narrow footbed, I did feel a bit of pain under the arch. Help! Thanks.
How to treat the Birkenstink?
I wish half sizes were available I'm in between
Is there some info I can refer to on the proper care of my new sandals? Can I store them in dust bags or use a version of a shoe tree?
Can we use Suede birkenstock in rainy or extreme summer weather ?
BIRKENSTOCK EVA would be the answer.
Water needs to be dried later.
Summer weather? How hot can your summer be? You think a sandal will be more easily damaged than your body? Nonsense question. You will be long dead before the sandal gets damaged by the heat.
Why would you wear sandals on a rainy day?
Suede can be waterproofed thanks to specific sprays anyway
@@PierreColombo900 I know a lot of people and hikers who prefer sandals on rainy day or even shorts instead of waterproof trousers 😂 maybe it’s a weird British thing
No, at least not if you were talking about the cork footbed. If you buy a style with a cork footbed, it will be ruined in damp weather. As for the upper, suede is not suitable in the rain. The Birkenstock instructions on their website specifically say not to get the cork wet! You will ruin your Birks that way. Someone mentioned the Birkenstock EVA model; this will work for you because it is made entirely of EVA and there is no cork.
Everyone’s feet look beautiful in Birkenstock’s!
@@slavaterzeman5207what the hell was meant by your statement? Please.
@@slavaterzeman5207 out of curiosity, what's your first language? Was what you said "different sandals look better"?
I have problems to adjust the straps because that loose fit like shown in the vid I find extremely uneasy to walk in so I strap them tight but that doesn’t feel right as well, I guess need a pair with a strap behind the heel, well at home they are fine but as I said for a 10 kmh walk not!
Do you have the narrow fit?, because you can thouse normal and narrow footbed that make,s the different 👍🏻😊
Correct way:
5mm between heel and edge of footbed
100 mm between toes and edge of footbed
Straps:
lower strap, 5mm between strap & arch of foot
upper strap, 10mm
I bought today my first pair birkenstock shoe and I have been compare with another brands it is birkenstock quite wonderfull and uniqe.
How are the soles so flexible in this video. Mine are stiff as a board
Im in between sizes with the womens gizeh. 38/39. The 38s my toes touch the edge of footbed and witj the 39, i have to tighten the straps to the tightest they can go... I have skinny feet lol
Oy, so I love the look of Birki's but there's a raised hump under the outside edge of the foot just below the ankle... this hump forces my foot up just a bit, along the outside edge which is really not good for my feet. I might take a drill to them lol.
I find with these sandals, they are either too small or too big. I can never find the happy middle ground. I have also never seen the narrow option in stores before. It’s frustrating.
Ï feel you, you can identify the narrow footbed version by the image of the foot in the sandal being a solid color, the regulars just have an outline.
I took home women's Arizona in silver not realizing nor being told they were a narrow size. I checked online for that store and for some reason that's all they were offering in that colour. At any rate, you could have better luck searching online.
Damm i got a size 43 in men and theirs like a inch of space what should u Recommend me
Got my first pair of birkenstocks yesterday and im already in love with them .
I never had this amazing brand of sandals ever in my 40 years of existence. For sure It's gonna fit my feet really well but not my pocket.
You best try them in the store first, they're not for everyone. My feet don't love them.
I bought my slipper size instead of my shoe size its a lil big but i likey
They should do a wider foot version
I just ordered my first birkenstock but I'm worried about the size , hopefully it will fit me well 🤞
How was the sizing?

@@ynoJ_ioB my feet are around 240mm when standing upright, got a size 39 and it fits amazingg

The soles and straps of mine came off after water exposure. Since you guys do not deem it necessary to use waterproof glue, can I send them back for replacement?
Arizona eva are water proof and come in tons of colors
What’s the exact name of the sandals in the video??? they’re beautiful😩
That is the Arizona style. 😊 It is a great choice for your first Birk.
I wish if there's 42.5 EU i wear 43 on sneakers i tried 42 on bricks little tight and i tried 43 little large that's the big problem on them they have to make mid sizes
They makes 2 types of foot bed: regular and soft. The soft takes half size due to added foam. If you did try 43 regular, you may want to try 43 soft.
How much stack height do the Birkenstock Arizona offer?
Best sandal ever. I have 3 different pairs.
I have to wear them small. If they are too big that ridge near the first toe hurts me like hell!. The size I am supposed to wear is just way too big.
I can comfortably get away with small but my toes and heels touch the
edges but it feels good and snug.
Same ugh 😂
Just got my Arizona Suede in grey today . I have been buying a 38 . But I feel like my toes keep hitting the tip of the saddle . So the 39 is good. I have a little bit more room . So comfortable
My toes have the same problem, but the straps are very wide as well, so going up a size will make them even bigger and my foot will move more in the shoe. probably not made for my feet....pity!
@@barbara5179 hello Now i have to have the bottom strap on the last hole . These straps are suede . And the top strap is almost on the last hole as well .
I usually leave a couple of holes in the bottom and Top , but those particular straps are leather . Well one is leather and the other is vegan . Take care
very comfortable and eagle shoes
Can we change the colour of the leathwrat home.?
not all styles fit the same...vest to try them on
Beautiful
Hi, beautiful spring weather here in central Ohio lately .. Birkenstocks time! But I have a problem, a (?) dumb question .. it feels easier to walk in tennis shoes. With my Birkenstocks, my toes / front end of foot seems to clench (muscle flex) a little with each step. Is this normal? .. or maybe I can make the front straps tighter? Thank you (to anybody who can help! :)
Sandals, right? Pretty sure your toes are clenching so that you grip the sandal and it doesn't slide forwards as you walk. Is why I don't like wearing a sandal that doesn't have a backstrap... you could hardly run in them if you had to... You could try tightening the front strap or both or add sticky moleskin to the underside of the front strap or both would offer just a bit more snugness.
My toes touch the edge on the 38 and there's about an inch in the back when I wear a 39... I bought the 39 anyway, hopefully it works
Same I found the 39 way to loose flopped around .38 toes up to edge but at least they stay on my feet.
@@kate8973 I just bought the 39. I hope it works. Feels comfy enough, everyone keeps making me second guess it though and telling me I'll mess up my back from the arch support 🫠 my toes touching the edge on the 38 was sort of driving me crazy. I've never went so back and forth on a pair of shoes before
@@alannashaw I’m right between sizes also. How are you finding the size 39, still on the fence?
@@IanDoody86 so I was actually able to return them for a 38, and once I broke them in I found my toes don't touch anymore (or maybe I just don't notice). I'm happy with them :)
Are you a size 6 or 7 ladies?
I used my new sandal from birken gizeh, why i feel it so Hard&Pain, espesially my tendon
they're hurting my feet also... the formed footbed is not for everyone's foot... for some people they're perfect, for other people they are not comfortable... try a different brand, Mephisto is nice and the footbed is not so contoured.
Thank you 🎉
difference between size 44 and 45 is too big. I get suck with 11.5 or 12.5 pretty much. 45 feels too big but 44 too small
🎉 thanks for to wihe infirmation happen to day and the next ⌚
So you need a full 1 and a half size bigger than your foot?
I wish if you could make shoes for more wider feet
Thought they were gonna give some outfits that go well with the shoe
I feel like if they didn’t include half sizes along with the regular size (7-7.5) they would fit me perfect because I’m a true 7 and there’s a half inch just sitting there behind my heel /:
hii! what size did u get?
same!!
Birkenstock has a fitting video that's short and sweet. Check it out!
Got my first pair today, for the size I would recommend 1 size down
depends on the style
Expecting customers to have millimeter precision when trying new sandals in a store is so German 😆
Where can I buy some for resale?
Wish they would make a size 34 for adults with smaller feet
I wish the video would also explain what amount of space is correct around the toes and the sides of the Birkenstocks. And not just the front of the toes. I am still clueless if I should go for narrow or normal, as the normal gives me enough space if I were to spread my toes a little, and with the narrow my toes go over the side if I spread them a little. So I truly don't know if the toes need extra space or not on the side.
You could probably go either way. I've just mistakenly brought home narrows, whereas I am a normal width possibly ever so slightly wide. The sides of my little toes just almost reach the edge if I stand normally. My prob is straight down from the outer ankle there's a hump along the sandal edge.. that bothers my feet, more so with the narrow than my old regular width pair.
Get the normal
They don’t mention when the footbed is too wide. If you are a woman with average width feet, you may need the narrow footbed. I find a 40 narrow fits me great, even though in regular womens shoes sizes I tend to have a slightly wide foot.
If I try a 40 in the regular Birkenstocks footbed, they are too large.
Thanks 🙏 good information!
Is it ok to get wet in the rain in Birkenstock?
Keep it away from water as much as possible.
They have EVA styles on their website. 100 percent waterproof. Fits the same as the cork soles
Im 42 but since I have greek foot, my other toes touch the edge. I guess must size up to 43
