A fascinating and very different take on Iceland. Great video production and amazing views. I was interested to know what amount of vertical decent you were getting on a good run?
Thank you Marcus! Here in Troll Peninsula region, since many of the lines start at the sea level (ish) I'd say we ski around 800-1000m , with the highest mountain Kerling being a little more inland (and so you start and finish a little bit higher up) measuring around 1500m.
Thats exactly what I searched for. Thanks YT for recommending 😊 im a sucker for Ski and Alpinist Videos... And 2 weeks ago I been to Iceland the first time and im totally in love... Glad I found your channel 😊 stay safe out there
It can be either really good or really bad. You never know, every year is a little bit different. You'll get a better idea about the conditions just few days ahead. But generally it's a good month. The worst case scenario is when the snow gets wet, freezes and then it doesn't snow for a long period of time. Then even 20 degree slopes feel like a gnarly terrain haha
Thanks for the quick response. I suspected that would be the case. Sounds a bit like Scotland. You never know the weather until the day! If we undertake the trip then worst case is we enjoy some stunning scenery. Thanks also for your content - very informative.
I'm glad it's helpful, I will try to make a new, more in depth video, hopefully this month. I 100% agree with you and I think that's the right mindset for a ski trip to Iceland. I've seen way too many people pushing it in a bad weather or tricky snow conditions, because they want to use their time here as much as possible. Which I understand, but it's just not worth the risk. Days like this should be spent exploring the area or soaking in a hot springs@@DouglasLamb-e5p

Tentatively planning a ski trip in March to North / West. Probably first or second week. Thoughts?
