For those who don’t remember, on the Journal 3 pages where he discusses Bill’s true nature, he states that the blood on the pages came from Bill’s constant trips through Ford’s mind. The pages stated that Bill’s actions in Ford’s mind made Ford’s eye so sore that it bled. I’m impressed Alex was allowed to write that, and if that portion of the text was visible in the show (specifically, in Dreamscapers and Weridmageddon 1 where the first few pages of Bill’s Journal 3 pages are shown), I’d be even more impressed.
Alex was able to have bleeding possessed animal heads chanting "ancient sins". We shouldn't be surprised that Disney let Alex write about a bleeding eye.
Yeah, grabbing my journal 3 book the first time we see this is "UPDATE: several hours after the experience with my Muse, I experienced a burning pain in my right eye. Probably just a headache. I have attached a monocle to this book to help me read with one eye until it goes away. I hope it doesn't bleed. . . . Very odd . . . " With a pic of it next to it
When The Oracle said that Ford “has a face of a man that is destined to destroy Bill”, she meant it literally. Ford has the same face as his brother Stan, who ended up defeating Bill at the end of the series 🤯
I think it’s more convincing that he went to the Boiling Isles because of a short line he recited in Gravity Falls. He said something very similar to what Eda mentioned when explaining the world to Luz. If you know, ya know
This makes me wonder, what would’ve happened if Ford managed to defeat Bill before he got sucked back through the portal? Would his interaction with Stan have been any different?
I doubt it would have been able to kill Bill himself. He has precognition so he probably ALLOWED Ford to get that close, since he knew the rift would open and the Pines would get mad at each other, making it harder to stop him
It may be a bit late to answer this, but I think so. I imagine that if the portal opened after he defeated Bill, he would've been a lot happier to have been brought back and maybe even thankful towards his brother. However, I'm not sure whether that would've been enough to mend the relationship between the Stan Twins. In the series it's only when everything comes to a head with Bill and Stan sacrifices himself that Ford finally acknowledges his own mistakes and realizes that his brother isn't the bad person/bad influence that everybody including himself always thought of him as. I'm afraid that without that happening, Ford and Stan's relationship wouldn't be fixed and Ford would end up kicking Stan out and closing down the Mystery Shack for good. Also, it would further increase his hero complex and his belief that he doesn't need anybody else.

I'd love to see Alex Hirsh make an official Gravity Falls prequel (Before Season 1, starting at Ford and Stan's fight) around Fords time in the multiverse, for it sounds like good possibly multi-seasonal story of Ford and the Nightmare realm.
The part where Ford met Parallel Fiddleford got me thinking. PF mentions how when someone makes physical contact with their parallel self, the dimension collapses. If that’s correct, then how does Dimension MAB-3L from Lost Legends not implode? Plot hole or exception?
Perhaps it’s only if a new one touches their counterpart from that dimension. It stands to reason that if two different counterparts met in a universe that was home to neither and then touched, then they would not implode that dimension since they aren’t breaking the laws of said dimension.
So technically, Ford could’ve went back home at any time? Especially when he came across the alternate version of Earth that had its own portal machine. Maybe he chose to stay in order to learn how to defeat bill
He had this opportunity only in that dimension (after 30 years). His weapon was almost ready and his plan was great. He didn't care about his home dimension. He just wanted to destroy Bill.
Not really- Ford didn't have the ability to specify what dimension he could go to (mostly he just took random portals or rifts he found). He was also worried that if he went back, he'd be endangering people he cared about to Bill's wrath. For whatever reason, Bill had his sights set on Gravity Falls as the epicenter of his take-over, so Ford intentionally avoided going home so Bill couldn't follow him. Alongside just... not having the tech to choose dimensions.
Yay! Finally someone covers this! Ford’s Multiverse shenanigans are one of the most fascinating-and least covered-parts of GF. The guy’s had a rough time...
I’ve always thought that Ford’s multiverse adventures deserved their own miniseries or something (I guess it would be somewhat similar to Infinity Train, traveling through endless worlds and all). I know, I know, Gravity Falls had a perfect run, but still, I want to see this animated!
@@yumestar19 I'm saying that, because of the fact that the alternate reality were Ford never fell into the portal exists in Gravity Falls cannon, and because Bill exists in-between dimensions, it implies that Bill tried and failed to take over multiple alternate versions of Gravity Falls, and finally succeeded with the version of Gravity Falls that we watch in the show
Maybe after meeting Rick, he provided Ford with a way to jump into different dimensions, as Sanchez was said to be the only person capable of doing so.
No worries, Bill. I'll encourage Ford to visit your statue. Sorry that you couldn't colonize a new dimension. You can have another chance next melinium, though.
How was Ford able to jump dimensions? We know that he used a wormhole to escape the Nightmare Realm but how did he travel to the other dimensions and eventually back to the Nightmare Realm? Did he just find more wormholes or did he use a device to jump realms?
The two dimensional dimension is an obvious homage to the novel "Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions" by Edwin Abbott Abbott. That novel also likely provided some inspiration for the character of Bill Cipher (the main inspiration was the Eye of Providence). Bill is an equilateral triangle, which would have been considered part of the lower classes in Flatland. In Flatland, innovators are imprisoned or suppressed and members of lower classes who are intellectually valuable are usually killed. I agree to a point. As a Stanley junky, I can safely say that Ford was an antagonist til the end when he woke the bleep up. Ah yes, it took your clearly depressed and remorseful twin brother killing himself to save his family for you to realize you're an aaaa-hooooo. Not to mention, he worked for thirty years and risked the world to get you back home. Clap clap Noice... But seriously, pretty sure that Ford going through the portal was the only reason Stanley was still alive til the twins were born. Something about "A Better World" really makes me uncomfortable. Stanley just took the journal and left with the words you said on his mind? Something tells me Stanley might not be in that world anymore. And Ford calls it "A Better World"... I love Ford, but only because Stanley does...
I have a question. How Ford became so tough and wise when he returned from the portal? We saw him being a selfish and scared nerd before Stan pushed him through the portal
@@Dedi-m5n it was 30 years later and the things he saw would of hardened him lmao, him being “selfish and scared” was him being paranoid from being tricked by bill and feeling like he’s set off something horrible (which he kinda did lol)
Hey At 17:05 it shows that Ford was shooting multiple lasers from his quantum destabilizer; but why he said that he can shoot only 1 time when he was with Dipper ?
Fun fact alex Hirsch and justin roiland are actually very good friends which is why their are Easter eggs of gravity falls in rick and Morty and that alex hirsch has voiced some characters in that show
No but bill in weirdmageddon part 1 said it was their first time meeting face to face. Also, he had to introduce ford to his henchmen but they already met according to this
Bill Cipher still being alive sounds like the perfect ploy for Crisis in the Multiverse where many franchises are forced to join forces from DC, Warner Brothers to Disney to stop Bill Cipher. Would be a great crossover if Comcast let's it happen.
He probably got into that mindset because he was told he had the FACE of the hero. When I read that in the book, his attitude and clear irritation at Stan saving him made more sense. He also seemed to realize it before they switched.
I need an entire movie about the canonical AU where Ford didn't get shoved in the portal! What happened to Stan?! Do Dipper and Mabel still go to gravity falls for the summer?? Is the tent of telepathy the only major tourist attraction in gravity falls??? Is Pacifica no longer the most popular kid in gravity falls because thanks to the Institute of Oddology, being weird is a more valued trait in gravity falls than being rich and pretty?? THESE ARE THINGS I NEED TO KNOW!!!!!!
If he didnt go to the portal he wouldve maybe either gone crazy or became famous because he would reveal his findings. And he prob become rich and study more and dipper and mabel would prob still visit tho. Stan would prob still be mooching off his brother still though. (Take a shot everytime i say prob)
@@ryanmatthews3609 He was exhausted. The show suffered constant issues due to its creator Hirsch's lack of experience in running an entire show (he was only 27 years old when it started). By the time the first season wrapped, Hirsch was so exhausted that he seriously considered ending the show right there, leaving it forever on an incredibly tantalizing Cliffhanger. It wasn't until he shared his plans with Jon Stewart, a huge fan who was horrified at the idea, that he decided to press on for another season. The Disney Channel execs weren't very happy about losing one of their most acclaimed shows so soon, and forbade him from revealing the plan to end the show to the public until the season was almost over, spending the entire time in between trying to talk him into continuing it to no avail. When the announcement finally couldn't be put off anymore, Hirsch was a complete stand up guy about it, making clear that the two season run was entirely his own decision and the fans shouldn't blame anyone at Disney for it, and ultimately came out of the experience with a highly acclaimed project he got to end on his own terms, about the happiest ending to the story possible. (Explained from TV Tropes.)
This just made me notice Ford’s wearing his Quantum Destabilizer when he returns to his dimension… I know it might not have meant anything and was just a “cool gun” to give Ford… but… this is also Alex Hirsch… and uh… yeah… I wouldn’t be shocked if it was planned.

Ah yes, it took your clearly depressed and remorseful twin brother killing himself to save his family for you to realize you're an aaaa-hooooo. Not to mention, he worked for thirty years and risked the world to get you back home.
Clap clap
Noice...
@@airitindeparrotin6018 really? uh okay.
No, he's perfect as a protag
@@gonhunter3994 no he isn't!
@@ryanmatthews3609 nah, Ford is amazing mate
Holy shit! So that's why Ford punched Stanley!! Everything makes sense!!
I would love a movie of this whole thing
I think with Dipper he saw something in him he saw in himself that’s why he trusted him so much
I have a question.
Poor baby he learnt to be strong in the nightmare realm & fight for his life.
Hey
At 17:05 it shows that Ford was shooting multiple lasers from his quantum destabilizer; but why he said that he can shoot only 1 time when he was with Dipper ?
@@Dedi-m5nprobably because bill had his Physical Form now
The fact that Rick and Ford were partners is fucking insane.

I thought the “the opposite of Bill” message was referring to the axolotl, not the oracle
or a "very polite purple square"
Same. Maybe the oracle got it's power from the axolotl, like oracles in mythology got their power from a god.
@@ZeRandomizor There was art of the Axolotl in her lair, so absolutely
All I heard was McGucket seeing bill without his endoskeleton to feed
Fun fact alex Hirsch and justin roiland are actually very good friends which is why their are Easter eggs of gravity falls in rick and Morty and that alex hirsch has voiced some characters in that show
This honestly makes me respect Ford more and what he had to go through
Haha Ford must have loved Cynn city since he was so smart and good at math
No but bill in weirdmageddon part 1 said it was their first time meeting face to face. Also, he had to introduce ford to his henchmen but they already met according to this
To quote Luz, that's a spinoff I'd watch.
Wait, now i dont judge Ford for being so rude towards his brother bruh, it makes sense now
Anyone notice at 6:31 there’s a glowing eye ball behind stans mother? Or is it just me
And it says psychic
I’m excited for the Rick and Ford one!!! IM PUMPED! CANT WAIT!!!
Its been 6 months 😔😔
the show had such a good ending and wrapped up so well but I still want a season three.
It would be cool to see a season worth of episodes (14-20) with Fords time in other dimensions on Disney Plus.
7:08 I KNEW IT FORD MET RICK
Imagine if they made a spin off show where the story is what happened to Ford
This is why I think they should make a movie about all of Ford’s adventures from Journal 3.
4:28 So thats where all my socks are.
Holy fuck this show is way more cooler than I thought

I feel like I have to watch this video a couple of times. Not only for the great content but by how it answers so many questions!
13:37 This is likely a reference to some book/movie called Flatland. The universe works in an identical way to theirs
Wow, I literally just finished re-watching Gravity Falls last night. Gravity Falls is seriously my favorite show of all time. :)
I love that gravity falls to me never felt like a kids cartoon.
It really is a _family_ show

Ok but can we just take a minute to talk about how smooth that transition into the sponsor add was?
Finally ! I have been waiting sooo long
18:42 but he didn't had enough screentime in the show because disney wanted to rush it
Can't blame it on Disney. Alex was burned out.
@@jameswilson8433 burned out?
@@jameswilson8433 uh okay but hirsch doesn't know it yet but the only thing he did was well.. delay the inevitable

Rick and Fordy's excellent adventure
What a coincidence, today me and my sister were whistling the Gravity Falls theme song together

I really miss this show❤️
I'm glad it ended such an awesome way
I wouldn't be surprised if Ford stumbled across the Boiling Isles during his travels.
In fact, a huge part of me hopes he did.
We need a Samurai Jack styled show documenting everything that Ford was up to

How ?
Without the portal he wasn't able to get back, even after 30 yeary
Love to see an entire series on Ford journey in nightmare realm, maybe even make it darker for young adults bc obviously bc we're the kids who originally watched Gravity Falls when we were younger that and it is a realm of nightmares.
I wish we could either get this or reverse falls as a series it would be so good
Fords time being trapped in the multiverse sounds like it would be an interesting spin off.
We need this to be a TV show.
