The Avett Brothers perform their hit single "Live And Die" and talk to Billboard about their new album "The Carpenter" in the latest session of Billboard's Tastemakers series.
Possibly one of those songs that you never get tired of hearing.
Currently rediscovering The Avett Brothers... They're just what I need tonight.
Could you imagine being in a neighboring building, opening your window, and hearing the AVETT freaking BROTHERS sing live on the roof next door?
I love the way Seth dances while he's playing. It's quite magical.
It seems like the girls really like these guys... I love their music. I have been listening non-stop since I really found them on Friday. I am amazing by their passion and ability. When they come to CA I am there, no matter where.
Seeing these guys for the first time on new years eve. Cant wait
I have seen you guys several times, and I'm a huge fan! This captures you!! Come to Austin soon! We love you here!!! xoxo
They are great!!
My baby went wild when I started playing this song. Ahhh, gooood baby. Gooood baby.
I enjoy Seth and his dancing, probably too much.
Simply incredible!!
When he said they were "big on collecting tools" and the other two started laughing....LOL
Haha, well said.
I'm so glad our generation has this genre.
It don't get any better than that !
They're awesome!
I imagine that I would enjoy these videos somewhat more if the audio were from the actual rooftop session, hearing the sounds of the city and the wind in the hair. The audio is pleasant and smooth but when watching the video it feels like holding your breath under water.
Come up for air... and check out the Beatles. Duh...
I adore them ;)
I know! From all the older interviews I've seen he was quiet, I guess he feels a little more comfortable in front of the camera now. Maybe he felt like Scott and Seth had more to say about the music then. Having gone through the experience with his daughter's illness has brought them closer together and he's livened up a whole lot! Love ya Bob and are glad to hear baby girl is doing well. We will keep ya'll in our prayers and hope she stays in the clear. Avett Bros. music has changed my life!
Love this band!
OH MY GOD THIS IS FIRE!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Epic. No one better than you guys.
He mentions Mumford and Langhorne? Epic.
Seth's dancing. so freaking adorable.
can't wait to see these guys in Tivoli, NL on the 22nd! =D
I kind of wish I had Seth's hair cut. And I absolutely LOVE them
Yay love them
Great song
beatles + mumford and sons = avett brothers
me encantoo!
thanks man
are you talking about what Bob said? He was just referring to the fact that they both use banjos, which, until recently, wasn't used in popular music.
damn, the Avett are good.
Oh that guy, ya he's just the greatest F#@!%^# performer that noones ever heard of.
editing of this video is hard to watch....way too many cuts
maybe it's for the ADHD crowd.
Joe's cello sounds so great in this!
Don't understand why they felt the need to have an electric "country" guitar in the studio recording of this song. This version and all their live shows sounds great without it. Love them just the same.
Yes please don't compare Mumford to Avett Brothers. Mumford has their thing goin but they don't compare to the talent of Avett Brothers
werry good.
❤
Bob speaks a lot!!!
This is good, but i can tell they definitely did some pitch corrective stuff on this recording and the studio recording. What do you expect though it's Billboard. Either way it's a great song, i just wish Rick Rubin would have not made their new album so slick.
that cracked me up too,I would look like an idiot if I tried that but he pulls it off with ease
Adorei :')
They sound so good live no need to clean it up in the studio, we like it "messy"
They remind me of Beatles
joe kwon takes this song to another level.
Wow
Awh Scott.
perfect come vist me at concord
The good live....but i wnt to you post singing from indonesia song to you music...thanks
Hey bros check out 1945. U all could do a great version of it. On soundcloud an live version on u tube.
Looks like Brooklyn indeed took them in.
Still sounds like, "Where do you reside when you're high?"
Remind me of Canada's Blue Rodeo
Anybody know how he is amplifying that banjo?
Where are they now?
He mention Mumford and who else?
yeah. they also cut out a lot of Seth's guitar. it's kind of upsetting.
What is the third band he mentioned?
No Scott plays it but the mix doesn't pick it up cause everything else is so loud.
The song, the Avetts, and this concert are great. The jump cuts and close ups are awful. Not sure I'd put my name on this if I were directing this.
ha - Tools - Nice! 6:14
lol this is cool
It's like me forcing the haters of Justin Bieber let him insult you simply do not like and point, I can not force me to like it, a person does not make a difference
Wtf I thought this was a Metallica cover.😂😂
i think its langhorne slim
ahh
oh great. I want to buy some gap jeans now.
Bob looks so strange with a bass slung over his shoulder.
The Avett Brothers are way better than mumford and sons
Live session? Methinks it's lip synced. That "banjo player" isn't playing what we're hearing... When the Beatles did the rooftop thing, they were really playing.

Why the quotations around banjo player. Scott avetts an amazing player
10 people are hearing impaired
Langhorne Slim.
Sexy accents! Southern

zzzzzzzzz
He's not a real banjo player, is he? He plays like a guitar player who thought he'd give it a try. He's not even playing the same thing we're hearing in this video.
Heavy sigh.
Scott has played Banjo for years. Its the song that is the reason hes playing like its a guitar. Banjo isnt all finger picking you can play chords just like a guitar also. He does both very often.
I just wish a banjo player would chime in on this.
Who gives a shit if he meets your definition of what a real banjo player is?
Joshua Davison answer: nobody!
Who can answer a post they disagree with, without using naughty words? Answer: Not Joshua. And you wouldn't be so naughty if you honestly didn't give one. You must if it upset you this much.
Singer dude needs to grab some weights and do some curls.

No thanks. I seriously doubt you're anywhere near my type. And I congratulate you on a well-thought-out rebuttal. Brilliant!
