  • Did you know that a mere 44,000 votes spread across Georgia, Arizona, and Wisconsin kept Joe Biden and Donald Trump from an Electoral College tie in 2020? That was even tighter than in 2016, when 80,000 votes in three states gave Trump a decisive Electoral College win.
Patrick Ruffini is a Republican pollster at Echelon Insights and author of Party of the People: Inside the Multiracial Populist Coalition Remaking the GOP. Reason's Nick Gillespie talked with Ruffini about why the major parties continue to leak market share, why 2024 is going to be another super-close presidential race, and whether small-l libertarian voters will make the difference in November.

And this is how I understand Trump’s comments, especially today with hostile countries such a China and Venezuela actively sending ‘undesirable’ persons and criminals as a political tactic to destabilize the United States.

I wish Reason would spend a little more time covering Libertarian candidates and primaries, instead of just covering the same stuff we get from the corporate media with a slightly different angle.
Even 10-20 seconds about the Libertarians that are running in each video that discussed the election would be great to start getting their names and basic awareness out there.

@jordanjohnson9866 nah? Here is the data with the math. Arizona is 11 electoral votes, Georgia 16, and Wisconsin 10. Had those states flipped for trump, the count would have been 269 to 269.
Biden won Arizona by 10,457... Georgia by 11,779... and Wisonsin by 20,682. That means it would have taken only 5,229 people voting for trump instead of biden in Arizona, 5890 in Georgia, and 10,342 in Wisconsin to result in an electoral college tie. The election would have been tied if a total of 21461 voters in those 3 states had chosen differently. Tell me what is not truthfull.

@@randylatenteno he didn't. He said; we will build a nice, big wall, with a big, beautiful door for people to come in legally. He did want to restrict even legal immigration from 7 specific countries, which he did enact that policy. His administration was sued by the Democrats, but the court sided with the Trump administration. This is the policy that was framed as the "Muslim ban". But it was dishonest to frame it that way for 2 reasons; for 1, only 5 out of the 7 countries were Muslim, 1 was Venezuela which is a Christian country, I think maybe Catholic specifically, & I don't remember the 7th country. 2nd reason, there are way more than 5 Muslim countries, if I remember correctly, I think it's like 55 countries are Muslim. Yet Trump only put a restriction on 5 out of 55. So for those reasons it proves that when Trump said he was putting a restriction on 7 countries for terrorists reasons, it wasn't racist or against Muslims, it was because those 7 countries present a danger to Americans.

If they are arriving from a country with terrorist cells that hate the US, we are much less likely to want to let you in. The only other fear is that if too many people from the Middle East arrive to the US, and are not encouraged to assimilate, we will become more like the Middle East. Obviously becoming more like the Middle East is a recipe for disaster or people wouldn't be leaving the Middle East to come to the US.

Why is blacks racist and whites not? I would be called "white" but my skin isn't white the same way "black" people's skin is not black.
