  • Driving in New York City is always a challenge, but it will get worse in March as the beginning of Daylight Saving Time changes the evening rush. The NYPD has a plan, however, as CBS2's Dave Carlin found out when he went behind the scenes at a multi-agency safety session at NYPD headquarters.

I drive almost every day for work (transporting heavy items) and born and raised here. I'll agree with the assessment the main problems are illegal ebikes, scooters, ghost cars, driving fast even on sidewalks and through red lights with zero accountability. Also pedestrians running through traffic like it's frogger or a third world country. Oftentimes right past officers who probably can't do anything about it anyway. How many times will the city put on a show saying they solved the problem of unlicensed vehicles and ebikes though? Can't officers stop them, if not give out a fine, at least warn or educate them? Clearly they aren't from here and treat our city like crap.

I've been driving in NYC for years and I couldn't agree more. Especially in recent years, there are more and more people who deliver food, they rampage in the driveway, even ride in the opposite direction and do not turn on the lights at night. I even suspect they have no traffic knowledge.
