It seems most likely that bonnie is "supposed" to be blue because every other bonnie afterward is blue. but because he was purple in the first game, he had to be filed for copywrite as purple, and all the fnaf 1 bonnie merch because of this, is purple.
But security breach has a picture of bonnie rolling a bowling ball on his finger and he is definitely purple but then we actually get to see him and he's blue and looks completely different so idk

I have to wonder if subconsciously people want "blue" and "bunny" to fit together because it sounds better linguistically.
That's a point as he's been referred to as that often. Ironically his name is officially "Bonnie the Rabbit", a play on "Bunny Rabbit", rather than "Bonnie the Bunny" as most assume.

It's undeniable that FNaF 1's Bonnie is purple or at least indigo, but his official/intended color is blue (as confirmed by Scott himself in a recent interview).

Thanks! It's true that nothing's confirmed, but It always seemed heavily implied that the purple shadow Bonnie represented William in the Spring Bonnie suit.

Purple and blue are the only colors used to represent black without being said colors in both 80’s to early 90’s video games, cartoons and comic books for a reason

To me at least this argument didn't start over whether FNaF 1 Bonnie was blue or purple, but it started because people tried to make the Bonnie's after FNaF 1 purple too. Like there's a lot of confusion, and unless you're a die-hard fan, you'll think every iteration of Bonnie will be purple despite there only being 3 versions of him that are purple. Technical Withered Bonnie in Help Wanted was purple, which just added to the confusion quite a lot.
My theory is - and always has been - that Bonnie STARTED off as purple .
But Scott realized that Purple should be a character motif tied with Afton, so he retconned Bonnie as blue so that Afton could always be associated with purple.
Why Blue? It's close to purple enough to mistake it at a glance and Toy Bonnie was blue- which made a connection.
(Clearly it worked since people are having debates about it).
So yeah, I agree. Lol.
Good theory but my argument is that scott confirmed bonnie was blue the entire time and it was only the lighting that made him purple.

Edit: i found 2 shades of lavender that match bonnie really well, being: "medium purple" and "amethyst". both of these colors should be one of the first results by searching: "lavender color".

Bonnie, to me, has always been Purple so this video is reassuring. They've definetely started to turn him more blue in newer versions, which still looks good (tho I prefer Purple)

Same applies here. Scott intended for Bonnie to be blue, but he is factually purple.

Why people think fnaf 1 Bonnie is blue absolutely baffles me, like literally every render or drawing of Bonnie on fnaf merch is purple, the backpack i had with the plushies, purple bonnie plushie, the fnaf lunch pack i had, purple bonnie, although your explanation does sort of exppain it

The simple answer that no one seems to want to agree on is that he was purple during the time Scott made FNaF1, but that with FNaF2 onwards he decided Bonnie should be blue instead. While this means that he may be canonically blue during the events of FNaF1, as a game appearance, he is still purple. It doesn't matter what color he is in the lore when the appearance he's given in game isn't that color. It doesn't matter if there was a peace of text or dialogue somewhere saying something like Nightmare Freddy's eyes are red. If he is shown with orange eyes instead, then he has orange eyes but is intended to be red. Something being intended to be one color does not change the fact that factually, that thing has been colored something else mistakenly or not.

I remember when fnaf first came out, Bonnie was immediately my favorite of the four main animatronics. One of the reasons was because he was purple, and purple is my favorite color.

Bonnie decides to change colors.

While bonnies obviously purple theirs a lore reason! They used a spair freddy model and tried to paint blue over it. The brown and blue mixed together to make purple. Thats why theirs small patches of blue paint.
I think scott wanted it to be blue, but it turned out the wrong color, he just kept it and made toy bonnie blue later to fix his error,

If blue dye fades out over time it becomes paler, pale blue, and pale blue is white-ish cause the "pale". Gloomy lighting causes a blend of purple.
I think Scott intended him to be blue but accidentally chose a purple that looks blue.
Edit:Like when your coloring and you want a specific color but it turns out to be completely different from what your crayon showed it to be.

In FNAF 1, Bonnie is Blue when we turn on door light to check him. (I guess noone want to see him there)
In FNAF 2,He is Blue when he stand in office room. We can use flashlight to check easier (noone gonna do that in real time)

Now why (movie) F.N.A.F.1 Bonnie is blue, I feel is that he’s always meant to be blue, plus games after F.N.A.F.1, tries to make Bonnie blue, besides Special Delivery which I don’t get, but I’ll say he’s blue since most of the games, plus the Charlotte (Web) novels depicts him as blue.
Plus the movie isn’t trying to be 1-1 with the games.
It has a version of Vanessa, a character who didn’t exist in the 90’s.
The movie seems to not be focus on the Afton family.
There may not be a F.N.A.F.4, 5, and 6 story adapt, but potentially some characters might appear, even if their stories probably won’t.
To make it simple, I’ll say Bonnie was bluish purple at first, then became more and more blue.

Something i still dont understand however is why he didnt get a canon redesign to make him blue.
(A canon redesign is when a character's design is changed making the old one non-canon. An example could be Molten Freddy's mask wich was changed back to Funtime Freddy in SB. Thats a canon redesign, meaning at one point it was canon, but not anymore.)
Something similar to the Bonnie thing is that some characters have what i call a "second main color", wich is when a character might have been brown (for example) then made orange in a different design, wich is what happened to characters like Glamrock Freddy and Glamrock Chica

So lore-wise, I've seen the withereds at just the original fnaf 1 animatronics, just with different designs (mainly Chica's jaw) in the past and worn down heavily, that's why I think foxy is worn down still in the legs, hand, etc. But I've seen withered Bonnie and Bonnie as the same at different times, and them both being blurple, just more or less blue (withered Bonnie being more). Since Bonnie unlike Freddy was 100% his own idea, I think the purple signifies that It was Afton was just as excited as when he made the two spring-lock suits. And the purple makes perfect sense for when Afton was making animations, but when he was reopening, he must have felt that Bonnie is just another animatronic, or less important, less of Afton's spirit in it. So I guess that was an argument on why Purple is lore-wise what Bonnie should be, so facts I guess. Opinion? (I know you didn't ask) I like blue Bonnie.

I once saw a video and I’m looking for it again, but if you look close at Freddy and Bonnie, you notice that they have the same head shape, so some people think Fnaf 1 Bonnie was MEANT to be blue, but when they mixed Freddy Brown with Bonnie blue, he turned Purple
It’s not the same head shape it’s just similar, and Bonnie was modeled first, plus in 3d when texturing the character you don’t mix the old color like that you just replace it

Bonnie is purple...blue is his undertone (warm color).. one of the main colors to make purple is blue. Light will always show the primary colors. But he is purple.

I hate how people are arguing over what color Bonnie is while he’s my favorite character.
I think the reason why Bonnie is blue in the movie is that the pizzeria in the movie’s universe is the only freddy’s location that we know of so far and it’s the same one where the missing children incident happened where as in the games in happened at the very first freddy’s location where Bonnie was blue we know this because these animatronics from the first location become the withereds and we can very clearly see that withered bonnie is blue not purple
so basically Bonnie in the movie is a mix of fnaf 1 bonnie and fnaf 2 bonnie to harmonize all the freddy’s locations into one

Original Bonnie is purple, his legal copyright description says his purple, the real world plushies are purple, his AR model corroborates him being purple.
Every other version after is blue or some shade of it, yeah, I can see and agree with that. Any and all other versions of Fnaf 1 Bonnie don't seem to be the same one or his color is changed to fit the necessary setting he's placed in, but he had always been purple from the start.
