Although to what was mentioned in this Video with the brand new iPod Touch 7TH Generation, did they really improve the Battery Life this time & having it be as good as on the iPhones & iPads or is the Battery Life still Garbage & running low so quickly, just like here on the Previous iPod Touch 6TH Generation?
I have 3 iPod Touch 6TH Generations, to let you know & although with this Video here about it, explaining everything & whatnot or so, what I’m doing on my side is replacing my 3 iPod Touch 6TH Generations with some iPhones, as right now, I’m getting myself some iPhone SEs, especially after seeing & hearing earlier this month about the iPhone SE getting iOS 13, plus the iPhones have a much better Battery Life, especially with the Battery Percentage Option in Settings > Battery, including to what it has to what the iPod Touches don’t have, which is Touch ID, as I do like Touch ID & stuff.
Later on, as additional to, I’m gonna think about getting myself 3 more iPhones in 1 being a 6S, 1 being a 7, & 1 being an 8.
Anyway, R.I.P. soon, iPod Touch 6TH Generation, as something I can say at least for right now. ⚰️
There was an ipod touch 6? There was a 5th?? There was a 4th!?!
I had one and I had no phone.... it was all I had. I used it from 2016 ( January) to May 2019. Other than having a terrible battery life and slow process it worked great for UA-cam videos and apps in general.
I’m blown by the fact that I bought a iPod touch 6 back in September 2018 and I never thought they will update the iPod touch line up

Snowy Poker I use to have a iPod touch 5g which I had since launch back in September 2012 had it for six years and still holds up pretty well over the years till the battery finally fail and that’s when it was time to buy the iPod touch 6

Exactly. The chip in the iPod 7 is under clocked to the point where it matches the iPhone SE in performance. You can get one for about the same price too.

Issac Arellano iPhone SE speakers aren’t too great. If your in a quiet room they’re fine but they get drowned out easily in louder areas.

I still use the 2nd generation ipod touch released in September of 2008. It's too outdated to handle UA-cam videos since it's on iOS 4.2.1. Which hasn't seen an update since 2010. Still works fine as a regular ipod.

I actually haven’t tried it since I don’t really have a device that supports it, but it should work fine.
@@Nightcaat ironically, I am actually still able to play UA-cam videos on my older Dell Inspiron 6000 which seems to be from early 2005 and has Windows XP. Something like Facebook still works on the iPod touch 2, but it's extremely slow.

i still have my original ipod touch 5th gen from 2013 with the wriststrap . i did the screen replacement myself & the battery still holds up well .

My ipod 5 that i got in 2014 has lasted a long time. Though, it only had about a little more than a year of use until i got my iphone 6 in 2015, and im still using it to this day.

I needed one for music so i got one.
I am posting this from the future. Apple has made a 20th anniversary iPod with a click wheel. The battery life is amazing, and I can fit album after album on it. It also has access to Spotify and other streaming music and video services. It has a high quality DAC and AMP for the headphone jack.
My iPhone4 holds a longer charge than the iPod 6. Very confused

I’m now upgrading to a iPhone 6S (I don’t want AirPods) and even if that is discontinued, I will still use it because mine randomly plays music whenever it wants to.
I bought the iPod 6 in Jan 2019 it was my first Apple device(I had an android phone at the time)

I actually bought this just for storing my music even though I have a iPhone 8 Plus that feels a hell of a lot bigger and heavier than the iPod. Also, i had the 6th Gen 4 months ago and I’m loving the iPod. It feels much, much faster than the 6th Gen and almost on par with my 8 Plus.

Can someone please explain to me, me as a completely newbie to this apple world, so can I buy an ipod 6th without caring about "updating" , I just want it the way it is. Is that possible? Or is the "update" the soul of the ipod, and without it is deemed useless . Thank you.
You can still use it but what it means is that you won't be able to run certain apps on it eventually.

I think if apple did upgrade it to iOS 13 I think it would suck. Because I got it when it came out on iOS 8 and over time I did notice that it is noticeably slower with each update.
I think you’re better off getting a used iPhone 7 than buying the new iPod touch. Because it has a bigger screen and it’s a little bit cheaper and you can also put data on it if you want. But I’m still happy the iPod touch didn’t die yet.

It's pretty hard to find a decent iPhone 7 for the same price as a new iPod touch. But I do agree.
I also recommend getting a 7. I had a 7+ until I upgraded to a X. Buying a used 7 is definitely more worth it than a iPod. Bigger screen, Cheap, Cell Data etc
local music is always better then any streaming service..

RIP iPod touch 6th generation.
It did give us a lot compared to the last generation and it was a great run, well for it running iOS 12.
Edit: Looking at the 7th generation, I hope Apple will upgrade their batteries at some point.

Actually the problem with battery isn’t that the battery degrades super fast.
It’s an iOS bug that was introduced on iOS 11 beta 1 and since then hasn’t been fixed. If you look online you’ll see that every iPod 6th that runs iOS 11 or later has some issues with battery (even if it’s new). What happens is that the indicator is wrong wherever you look at it, the iPod never reaches 100% even if you let it charge all night long, when using it you’ll notice that the indicator jumps from 100% > ~60% and after some minutes it will jump to 30% (where illogically the battery lasts the most) and of course jumping to 10% having a total battery life about 1:30 hrs - 2:00 hrs at most. Also, if turn it off and back on again you’ll see that the battery indicates less than 20% (red icon) for 2 minutes and then jumps to the “real charge” (99%, 60%, 30%). I’ve spoken to Apple developers and they say the issue is known but they don’t have a release date for the issue, I also got replaced mine and it started behaving the same, even bought another one and the same issue is present. If you had it before updating to iOS 11 you’ll see that this was a non issue, thankfully the iPod is ending its life so we should expect a jailbreak and hopefully a way to downgrade to iOS 8 - 10.
Degradation and age of battery sometime confuses the software on how much battery life does your device have. This bug has been present since iOS 6.
ShockwaveEXP My heavily abused iPod 5 running iOS 9 doesn’t have terrible battery. The 5th gen lasts double than the 6th gen on iOS 12...

They should of made it bezeless and made the screen sharper possibly a big camera upgrade as a great camera on a cheap device paired with the a10 would make a great selling point

I always thought the iPod Touch, while great for kids, really wasn't all too necessary after the 4th gen. I feel like that was the last truly great iPod Touch. The only one I've ever owned is my 1st gen to add to my vintage hardware collection.
I am still using my iPod touch 6 as my daily driver and my 5th gen iPod battery is WAY WAY better than my 6th gen and I’m still waiting until this September to get the 7th gen!!

I have the 4th generation iPod touch for my old iTunes collection, and the battery really is awful. I've got an SE as a phone though so I wouldn't get the 7th gen for any reason.
Tbh I was considering upgrade for the iOS 13 but iOS 13 is pretty disappointing except iPadOS For my iPod 6 I just slapped the iOS13 wallpaper and it looks like the iPod 7 so what’s the point I’m pretty happy for my iPod maybe consider it when there’s used ones on the market.

I live on the streets and, the ipod touch 6 is my computer. I have a cheap throw away phone for calls, and use the ipod (128gig) for everything, video editing, music making, social, its cheap and reliable.
My second generation ipod touch still works like new and has great battery life on the 6 games I have for it. Honestly, I can live with a battery thats in the ipod 7 as being inferior to any of the iphones.

It's great to disconnect from it all. I simply just use it for music, note-taking, pictures, audio recordings, and things. People who are always on their phones are always "connected" People need to learn how to use their gem. I even download pictures to help inspire me throughout the day. Unfortunately, Apple likes to make its
products obsolete. I'll be the 7th gen and then that's all she wrote for me for apple products.
I've wondered for a while now what the point of an iPod really is now. Most people I know use Spotify, Pandora, or UA-cam for music, so an iPod isn't necessary for playing music. Then if you just prefer iOS to Android, then you could just get an iPhone instead of buying an iPod and another phone.

I don’t want the iPod to be killed because I love my iPod and I want to be able to replace it when it will become obsolete. I have and iPhone and an iPad but I still use a lot my iPod because it is simple and I love it. I use it the most for videos and for school things. I am also still using a mid 2012 MacBook Pro unibody. I am so happy it will be supported on Catalina

I'm disappointed with the internals of the new ipod touch. Being similar to the iphone 7 that gives it probably 2 years of support from now. I miss the days of ipods having the current gen processor but with a little underclock and less ram which gave it more years of support than the ipod touch 7 on 3 year old internals

Not really, I’d recommend getting an iPhone instead. Either the 7 or 8 if you’re on a budget
While the new iPod touch uses the A10 processor like the iPhone X, it is extremely underclocked to the point that it is only slightly better than the iPhone SE. I suggest getting an iPhone SE if you are into nostalgia.
