It’s here - a deep dive into my wardrobe stats! I neglected to mention at the beginning that while Indyx is a free to use app, access to these analytics does require a subscription to their Indyx Insiders program, which I have paid for with my own money. This video is not sponsored in any way. 😊👍🏻
However, if you’d like to try Indyx out for yourself, you can use my referral code "kateyflowers" to receive $10 at sign-up. www.myindyx.com/

I legit don't remember the last time I wore pants. They tend to make me feel pretty dsyphoric. We haven't found the rest of my clothes since we moved so if I'd had access to my pair of jeans that fit I might have worn them a bit. I live in skirts and dresses, with tights of various lengths depending on the weather. Living in Perth I don't need the outwear for winter, I packed all my coats away and only dig them out when visiting over east. My style has definitely changed a lot as I've embraced my love of Care Bears and happily wear graphic tees, most from Big W with Care Bears, Stitch, Winnie the Pooh, all that fun stuff. I don't get much use out of all the beautiful knitwear I've made over the years because of the weather here, I get maybe 8 weeks of the year in Perth where I can wear wool. Part of me wants to try the tracking but I know myself well enough to know I'm not going to keep it up! I own a lot of jewellery, I want to wear more of it. I often get asked if I work with kids or if I'm an art teacher! I get so many compliments on my gorgeous Care Bears handbag. I remember crying on a shopping trip with my mum because she wanted me to be all corporate and I couldn't bear the thought of doing that any longer. My mum's favourite colour is cream, she used to hate that I wore brightly coloured socks and has finally accepted that I have a different aesthetic to her, though she wasn't impressed when I dyed my hair blue and when I got tattoos 😂 when I do wear makeup, it's always fun colours and glitter. If I'm going to be stuck on this planet, I'm going to have a good time doing it!

That plaidish jacket you aren't wearing is so cute! Maybe you need to have a sit down where you use indyx to try to come up with 10 ways to wear it. Some pieces are harder to throw together on the fly, so giving it some planning time might help. Given the rest of your wardrobe, you'd probably bee able to use it analgously quite a bit. It'd be a fun video.

The fact that pants excite you beyond almost anything else is the absolute best thing I've learned about you in this video. 🤣 I feel like my wardrobe I could predict pretty easily -- lots of black, grey, and green with a some dark red and blue mixed in. My most expensive would definitely be the functional items -- footwear and outerwear, especially winter gear. I am still in the process of post- career change wardrobe shift, downsizing the amount of more formal office type wear that I have because my current life just doesn't call for it.

    • @KateyOneMoreTime

Haha I can’t help it, pants are just so fun! 😂 it is interesting how much a career shift or other lifestyle change can impact our wardrobes! Makes sense, of course, but highlights how much our ‘styles’ are influenced by our situation. I do feel like I dress almost like a caricature of a children’s bookseller sometimes 😅

I just have a tally system in the back of my journal. And I am aiming to get at least 30 wears per item. This is so easy with shoes, loungewear and my favorite pants. But it is surprising how nicer or more unique outfits that I love but only work for certain weather only get about 5 wears per year. Which means I need to love them for 6+ years. And unique outfits can often be trendy outfits! so any trend that I am thinking about getting into I have to ask myself- "will I still love this in 6 years?" And cheap clothes i am tempted to buy- i have to ask myself "will this hold up through 30 wears and up to 30 washes?"

Love seeing this break down! My favorite thing to see in my closet tracking is tracking the number of wears and reason behind a piece leaving my wardrobe. I have some items that I’ve worn over three hundred times, but most clothes that leave my closet leave with less than 20 wears. The exceptions are the pieces which are fully worn out and I am not passing on to anyone else. Those pieces will have hundreds of wears. It also gives you a very clear picture of the quality from certain brands, because I’ve had pants where the entire butt was worn so thin that was unwearable after only 173 wears. In comparison I have a sweater that is nearing the same number of wears and it looks identical to the day I bought it.

I just started using indyx a month or so ago. Previously I used Acloset but deleted it when everything basically disappeared after the "free trial period". I wasn't looking forward to logging everything again but I really enjoy putting outfits together. I aspire to you, my closet is way too big but I do love choices! I've got 431 items logged, 121 of them are tops. I probably have another 50 items or so to log when spring comes along (they're packed away). But before you think I'm a hoarder I'm really not, I go through my wardrobe regularly and make sure I wear everything. But I love COLOR

It is interesting to see my trends, ruts, what I value and types of items that I purchase.
I usually wear a cardigan everyday because where I work is cool. I usually purchase 2 to 4 in the fall and get rid of the ratty ones. Most are knit and some are more durable, and some stretch, pill, or lose their shape. They get a lot of use.

Hi,I have been using closet apps for a year and a half now. It was mainly to help me determine which clothes to declutter, because I realized that what I love is not necessarely what I wear. I've got 220 items catalogued in openwardrobe (for the data aspect), in XY (for the japanese styling that give me styling ideas I would never have thought of) and finally style dna ( for the free color analysis part, an AI determine your colors and then you can upload an image of a clothe you want to buy and it will tell you if the color and style would go with your profile). Unfortunately for me, after more than a year of noting with extreme constance my outfits of the day, I discovered that I wear at least 94% of my wardrobe and nothing stand out as less worn in each categorie.

I love clothes and it is my creative outlet of choice but also I have been worried not to consume new stuff beyond needs. Fascinating video! Yes, you are very brave!
I really enjoy your style, even though mine is somewhat different --you have so many lovely colours and some gorgeous pieces !
Maybe I have strange habits, but I am informed by a) having to keep some clothes in better shape for work b) being extremely casual c) not having much money d) being "difficult to fit" (oh capitalism's notions of sizes and "fit").
What this all means is that I have opted to have "around-the-house clothes" and "other clothes". This way I wear out my "around-the-house clothes", or stain them by accident, or whatever, but keep the other clothes in good condition. It works also as a way to use up clothes purchases that didn't work out as hoped, or that shrunk, etc. Also, I need comfort, so "around-the-house clothes" can be mostly t-shirts and jeans, which is fine by me.
I honestly would like to get rid of some of my "around-the-house clothes" but my (somewhat necessary) frugality makes me not want to waste clothing that I don't hate. If/when I have more time and energy, I'll see what I can do...
What I'd like to know about my wardrobe is mostly where have all my socks gone!?? Which part of the house is eating them?

And I’ve never even thought about the number of pieces of jewelry I have. I think I only have 6-7 purses. I occasionally think about counting my clothes but I really do wear everything I own at some time or other. I don’t own “trendy” pieces. I can and do wear the majority of my wardrobe from one yr to the next. I take really good care of my clothes and I do get rid of stuff at least once a yr.

I agree, its a scary number when you see it totalled. I’m also working through to make sure I use everything I have or need to let it go ehich I think is a brilliant way of using the app.

Absolutely! Getting clear on what you actually wear is so useful!

this is so interesting to go through, thank you for sharing! i was wondering what made you chose to switch over to indyx after using whering? i just started using whering myself a couple months ago, and am not sure what the differences are

Honestly, there's a couple of minor things I prefer about Indyx, like the more streamlined aesthetic. I think because my wardrobe is so colourful, I like that the app is simple so my clothes shine. I also was interested in the stylist services, even though it took me a while to pull the trigger and try it out! But mainly, Wearing kept crashing on me! Not all the time, but often enough for it to annoy me, especially when I was almost finished putting an outfit together and would have to start over! I don't know if that's still an issue, or one everyone experienced, but I've never had Indyx crash on me, so that's a big win. Without the crashing, I don't think I would've switched, though!

I feel like my style is pretty similar to yours but I do have a TON of t-shirts that I definitely don't wear as much but I also really like them

It took me a couple of weekends to get almost everything photographed and logged, so definitely a fair time investment. I know some people prefer to do it in smaller chunks.

my color breakdown is purple and black and 1 dak grays hat. thats it. i'm autistic and purple is my color. my phone and cane are also purple.
i have 1 shoes. i wear it summer when its too warm for them and winter when its too cold for them.
and i have 2 accessories, 1 necklace and 1 hat.
outer wear i have 1 maybe 2 jackets that are not also sweaters. in winter i layer to keep from freezing in europe at down to -20C but i have no typical "winterjacket".
bag i have 3, 2 are tote bags from book stores and my laptop bag pack.
i think i have also around 7 one pieces.
the others are hard to count for me and i cant keep up tracking. but i have shirts and pants in different sizes depending on if im gaining or shrinking at the time, because my weight is extremely unstable and changes between 40 and 65 kgs. so of those i cant always wear everything but i need everything. I also need to change my shirt and wash at least 2 times a day because i have POTS and that comes with excessively heavy sweating at even the lightest physical activity for me.
when i bought my stuff it was mostly new, but that was like 10 years ago, and im not anywhere near buying new stuff.

Lol I'm not even done uploading everything in my closet. And I'm over 200. I have a lot of jewelry and a huge scarf collection. It's wild to me that I have more clothes than you and I live in the road full time and cart my closet around the country. I guess my job involves having clothes, Renaissance faires, but some people on the Rennie road wear the same thing to work every weekend and i dont

I love how broken up this is. I use a spreadsheet that someone in the YT sewing community designed, so I can see the information on the page I log, but I cant pull stats out very well.

Can you pull a pivot table from the spreadsheet you are using to quantify similar stats?

    • @GoingGreenMom
      @GoingGreenMom 9 днів тому

@@emilypotter67 I am not great with pivot tables, but I'm pretty sure I should be able to. I need to redo the spreadsheet in a separate file. I've tried adding some charts and stuff that I think should have worked, but no matter what I tried it wouldn't, and I think it is a compatibility problem due to regional differences because the one I'm using comes from a French creator. So like I have to use commas instead of periods or it throws errors, and I did a little bit of a look into it and Google sheets does function differently in different countries.

I don’t think you have an excessive closet I have triple the amount that’s excessive 😅 I’m a maximalist at heart but still my percentage are similar tops versus pants and my usage is also similar bags, shoes and blazers are my most worn also I’m from Canada so we really have extreme weather super hot and humid during summer and super cold during winter so we need very specific clothing for each seasons. And we f course winter shoes and coats cost way more than a spring coat
