2:14 Liz darling 103/4= 21 made me laugh so bad . The 19 tops missing are basically a fifth season. Love you though 😅 I just finished the video: Congrats on 100K🎉
Would love to see a video where you pick a few of the least/never worn items and make outfits for them. Or decide to get rid of them because that's valid too.
If you do a full year follow up, I'd love to hear what you've done differently (or intentionally kept the same) with your wearing habits as a result of seeing your data. Data is cool and all, but what it helps us learn and address is even cooler!
I innocently set out to count how many dresses I own a couple of months ago. I stopped when I hit fifty. A great many of them thrifted, and I did start in the 80s, but still…I decided to gently draw a veil over the whole project.
as an autistic person with a special interest in fashion and also data...... this video was so good and cool and interesting. loved it so much. thank you for another wonderful video liz
Hoodies and sweaters should go in the outerwear category imo, especially since blazers are considered outerwear - I feel like that messes with everyone’s “tops” category. Also, with the amount of layering people do on top, I think it’s totally fair that it should be the biggest category. It’s weird to me that a camisole and a sweater would both count towards the ultra broad “tops” group
@@someundeadtalent2016 I think I'd die of heatstroke if I touched a cardigan in summer haha It's the start of spring here in Aus and it's already getting too hot to wear much more than a t-shirt during the day, which sucks cause I love my knitwear
This video is very timely because I'm assessing my wardrobe this week. This is my vote for a second analytics video! Also please film your jewelry deep clean!
I’d be interested in seeing you compare your most worn items to your favourite items - I know for me some of the things I really love don’t get as much wear because of practical reasons. Congrats on 100k!
I track my pajamas too- and i wear them SOOO MUCH. way more than anything else. the things that feel interesting and important in my wardrobe get worn max 10 times a year. But each pair of PJ bottoms gets like 60 wears. Its wild
Last year, I realised that we spend a third of our lives in pyjamas, so it's okey to invest on nightwear. Now I have two lovely sets of sleepwear for each season.
Hannah Louise Poston has done a video where she uses levels of formality/chicness, and there I realized that, too... If we assume a month with 30 days, we'll be in pjs/loungewear 30 times... I had chatgpt calculate out the percentages my wardrobe "should" have for each level based on my typical week, and it came up with 48% for level 1, i.e. Pjs and loungewear... We recalculated, agreeing that unless it's super hot, I can probably rewear those outfits 2-3 times in a row and don't need as much variety, but it's still coming out at 27% Kinda interesting, because this is definitely not a category I've considered when looking at wardrobe composition before, or considered in my shopping plans.
I have a very small wardrobe. Probably 15 tops and 5 bottoms I wear 90% of the time. Not including coats etc. I am very poor and have gone whole years without buying clothes, and when I do it's usually a 50-75 dollar splurge at the thrift store once a year, to replace stuff that's truly worn out or doesn't fit anymore. I'm comparing myself to you and imagining how it must feel to have maybe $10-$20/wk to spend on something new from the thrift store every week! It must be so fun to have a great big rack of choices to express yourself with. My clothes are very basic because I can't afford to buy stuff that's too niche. It all has to work for me in all circumstances. But it's so boring. I really wish I could get more color and whimsy into my wardrobe. Heck, I wish it was reasonable for me to wear fun silly clothes in daily life. I kind of think that as a poor person it would be unseemly for me to be too fashionable. People would accuse me of wasting money or faking being poor for sympathy or something. But maybe I could buy one or two pieces that could be colorful and have some pattern and fun to them, if they were wearable at least a dozen times a year or so. Maybe I could get a really wild colorful whimsical cardigan that I could perhaps crochet myself. And for summer maybe I could get a wide brimmed hat with flowers on it that could look a bit silly but still be practical for keeping the sun off.
One of my good friends does this. I’ve known her for a decade and she’s been very poor but always has a few go to colorful and whimsical pieces that express her personality, like a bag, a hair accessory, a skirt, etc.
@@RefractedStarlight I forgot about accessories like that! It's a very good idea. I carry a basic black backpack and have very short hair though. I don't like jewelry much but I'm okay with necklaces. Maybe I can make some beaded necklaces and get inspiration from somewhere how to make them unique. Somehow give it a big medallion to be eye catching and cool. I can also use polymer clay. I could make pins or keychain trinkets to hang on my backpack.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. It really is such a privilege to be able to have fun picking out new clothing at the thrift store every month and choose from so many options in my closet every day. Being forced by circumstances to prioritize pieces that don't feel so fun and exciting to you seems disheartening, and it sucks that there are people out there who think there's a "right way" to be poor. I really hope you're able to find clothes that fit your lifestyle and budget but also bring you joy to wear. You deserve to feel good in your clothes!! and I really hope you find or make a colorful cardigan and a floral brimmed hat :'))
i sympathize. thrifting is a life saver. altering existing clothing is a fun way to make it your own. it's also a great way to get started sewing. you could start with safety pinning bits together to see how you like it and it wont be permanent. my sis only has 10 outfits. she chooses to limit her self that way but they are all fashionable. if she likes something it has to replace something. more isn't always better and you don't have to explain to any one your finances. best of luck!!!!
I would love a video where you try to use all your wardrobe!! Or you wearing every single item of clothing that you own through a whole year, it would be awesome! Also, I absolutely loved this video!!
I have been trying to enter all my clothes into Indyx, as a dopamine shopper (I’ve been working very hard to curb this) and someone who doesn’t like to get rid of clothes, it has been a very humbling and overwhelming experience. I’m not even done and I have ~700 items. It is making me assess what I actually have and what I “need”. I’m trying to be kind to myself throughout this process, because I know that at the end of this I will be able to curate a more wearable wardrobe overall.
Exactly the same issue, for now I cataloged more than 400 items and I’m not done yet. It’s a bit overwhelming but I believe it will help me to stop impulsive shopping and give me better ideas of what I actually own.
I love that! And I've been wanting to do it as well but my problem is that every time I take a picture the colours just somehow end up looking grey... how so you take the pictures, in what light etc. in order to have them close to reality?
@@leilas8416 personally what helped me is taking all the pictures in full daylight never at night with only my room lights, it’s so unconvenient because who as times during the day lol , but I do it on weekends, categories by categories to not spent 5/6h on it ahhaha, also every time I take a pic I move my finger up to increase luminosity, maybe it’s just an iphone things idk but perhaps you can do the same on any device, and it help me having great colorful color closer to reality, because once outlining and put on a plain white background clothes tend to appear so much darker with the contrast, so exaggerate the brightness really is a my way to deal with accuracy:) hope that’s help, I also have way to many clothes I need to stop
@@gnine3299so nice to see I’m not the only one who already crossed 600 pieces although I might end up getting around 700 pieces once I’m done with everything
some of these stats would be more representative if given a median rather than an average value-like the repeat wear stat, as you explained, is not very representative because of the few pieces that get very heavy wear, like certain shoes or pieces of jewelry. i wish we could know the median number of uses each item gets, because it would better represent, across your wardrobe, where you’re more or less likely to repeat pieces across the board. interesting video all around though!
Me wearing one of five identical pairs of pants and a mix of my favorite comfy tops like 90% of the time cause I'm a "home clothes" person, and then grabbing whatever's close and feels right in the moment when I do leave the house 😂😂😂. I love personal style but often prioritize being dressed at all to putting together a killer outfit, because I'd rather get coffee/see my friends/do the errand, etc, than not because I'm trying to find the perfect thing to wear.
Oh! This unfortunately means I don't wear as much of my wardrobe as I probably should, but I do enjoy having a big wardrobe so that when I have the energy to devote to my personal style, I can.
I've been tracking mine since July 2019 in a Google Sheet I built and it was THE BEST thing I ever did for my personal style. Nothing shows you what your style *actually* is than seeing what you wear the most!
I've been wanting to track my wardrobe for a while now, but....i was in a big "overconsumption to drown the voices" the past few years. this past year I've been so much better with this. even tho 99% is second hand, it's still overconsumption and I don't need (nor wear) everything that I own. and seeing these beautiful statistics makes me excited to actually start on the tracking and having more of a sense of what's being worn
Yes please, absolutely to more wardrobe analytics. I am in the UK so climate is usually between 5-15C (that's 41- 59F for the Americans). I have 103 items which is shoes (10), jackets (6), bottoms- skirts, jeans and trousers (24), tops (28), 'layers'- jumpers and cardigans (18), and dresses (17). I'm not much of an accessories or jewelry person (a couple of scarves, and rings) so that's about it. This includes any comfy, at-home-only stuff like PJs and the like. Half is bought new within the last 5 years, a quarter is older than 5 years, and the other quarter is second-hand (thrifted).
I'm a maximalist and have a large wardrobe soooo I started using Index 30th of May, so my usage is for 3 months I have 41% so not too bad! I have 600 items (yikes) tops (205) 34%/Bottom (156) 26%/shoes (55) 9%, Jewelry (51) 8% one piece (44) 7% outerwear (36) 6%, accessory (36) 6% bags (15) 2% swim( 4) 1%. I live in Canada so we do have 4 seasons. I have 21% of my wardrobe that is secondhand but a lot of my clothing are from local designers. I have at least 3 local designers that I follow their season launch (2 per year) I do often buy a couple of pieces of clothing from them each year (mostly their winter collection). That explain why I have so much also that make it hard to declutter because for 1) I still wear them, they are good quality pieces, that doesn't follow any trend (not necessary ''classic'' but still ''intemporel'' and 2) its almost like I have a collection that follow my growth but also the growth of my favorite designers (they are all women of my age) . I have several pieces that dates back from 2010s and older. I feel bad because my husband just a have super small space in our closet but at the same time I LOVE my wardrobe and love getting dress! LOL
using 40% in 3 months when you have 600 items is honestly amazing, I feel like that shows that you truly love your things and get use out of them, so the higher number seems worthwhile for you! following/supporting/collecting local designers is also so cool, I would love to do something like that someday if I ever have the budget for it
@@beepwrld thanks and sometimes I wear two outfits and only log one so I'm guessing I could be higher. As for local designers look if your local college has a design/fashion program and go see there end of year runway its the best way to know what's happening in your area or local boutique that is selling local designer. here in Montreal little boutique will do ''collective sale'' so they are inviting 3 to 4 local designers to sell for a weekend their collection its usually fall - winter and spring. As for price they are usually the same if not more affordable then like say Sézane. and in my book those designers are doing way more sustainable fashion even if they don't have the ''qualification'' because they are designed in my country and made by qualify local labor.
omg I started tracking my wardrobe 2 months ago, and I'm also so excited for long term stats! I use Whering as an app, but I'll need to see if Indyx is better (for now I have about 1.5 months of data, 2 weeks I was at my mum's house where I have different clothes which I decided not to include in the data bc it's 1000 km away so...) anyways, since you are curious of other people's stats, I can show some of my wardrobe composition (climate: Scandinavia, big city, but I don't feel cold properly; style: cottagegoth (alternative mixed with minimalist mixed with cottagecore mixed with artsy), most of my recently bought items are secondhand, but I have a lot of items I had for 5+ years (10+ even) that was purchased new so I input new) 375 items, of which 73% was purchased new, 22% preloved, 5% handmade 3 biggest categories are: 37 earrings, 32 T-shirts, 29 high socks so yeah, I have input my collection of funky socks which does bring up the % of new items considerably. most of my jewelry was also purchased new and I do have a lot of that as a goth-adjacent girlie about 1/3 of the items are black, then about 1/6 of them are silver, rest is mostly red/maroon, white/ecru, grey and pink in 2 (1.5) months I have worn 54% of my wardrobe, where seasonality does play a big role, my long pants, coats, winter accessories ofc have seen no wear but I think this is a fair statistic and I def have the goal of wearing everything in a year brands I wear the most: H&M (mostly basics from 5+ years ago and somehow I thrift a lot of H&M), Urban Outfitters (used to work there, had employee discount), Mango, Dr. Martens - but!! the app doesn't recognize all brands, I think I have more clothes from Reserved overall, really fun experience and I would recommend it to any fashion person!
Whering is such a good and underrated app! Most of the features included in other apps are in it, and it’s free and well designed. I’m a bit annoyed at indyx’s adding pieces function cause you’re forced to do it one by one lol, but the hire stylist function is truly one of a kind. I just finished digitalizing my wardrobe in both apps but I’ll be logging my outfits in indyx! Excited to see how it’s going to be in six month or a year:D
First time watcher here! Would love a full year update. I live in Illinois/Iowa so I live in a place with 4 quite different seasons and understand the need for different outerwear and shoes and outfits for the weather.
Thank you so much for talking about this app! I started using it and even got my mom using it so we can share outfits and pieces with each other for opinions haha. There's some pieces I hesitate to get rid of but it has helped me really see they don't work with anything else in my wardrobe and it's OK for me to resell them. It's also helped me feel less guilt about the amount I've invested in really high-quality basis that I wear constantly and have held up well. Something I want to start using it for is to group my clothes into collections based on my current body type. I'm in my mid-thirties and have a history of broad body changes and have downsized so many times only to have to repurchase a bunch of things! So now I can just group them in the app and label them for storage and not have to re-try everything on every season because I can't remember what fits (because of course tags don't really help here haha!)
I have been tracking my wardrobe for almost two years now (OpenWardrobe) and the statistics help me so much. I've downsized some categories, since I aspire to wear the pieces I own more. ☺️
The dedication for gathering the data is insaneeeee!❤ As for the whole "how many pieces would you have in a different climate", in Finland I'd say I had a similar amount of clothes as I do now in the US, but a lot more of it would account to outerwear and layers rather than things like skirts and dresses (which, realistically you couldn't wear for most of the year in colder parts of the country). I think the more fluctuation in climate (very hot summers & very cold winters), the more likely you're going to have a bigger closet to accommodate all four seasons. I definitely own way less clothes now than I did back in Finland because the difference in seasons isn't as drastic where I live now. Also, I think it's really difficult as fashion content creators to not feel like we "have to" buy a lot of clothes to have more "variety" in our videos - I simply can't afford that habit though, so I've just admitted defeat and just outfit repeat a loooott (which tbh isn't a bad thing)😅But I think you've done a great job managing variety + staying true to your style + staying sustainable! 😊 And congrats on 100K! Such a huge milestone♥
A video on stats related to how long items stay in the wardrobe, items with most longevity, etc. I think about this for myself because I tend to cycle through clothing. Even if it is 2nd hand, I feel like it's some sign of integrity or knowing myself somehow if I keep and wear the same things for many years, but maybe that is fallacious thinking or some ideal from society. Regardless it would be fun and interesting to examine and discuss that.
oh I LOVE this idea!! It might take me a while to track down how old all my clothes are, but since I have it documented in so many hauls... maybe I can actually manage it and include this stat in a future video!!
I have a system with the items I hang on a hanger. When I do a closet cleanout or a general tidy-up of my closet I hang each item with the hanger the other way round (so the hook is facing me instead of to the back of the wardrobe). When I take things from my closet and hang them back I won't take the time and effort and just hang them back regularly. So when I do the next closet cleanout I can clearly see which items I have never touched since that last tidy-up. No need to track it every day. Just depending on my general lazy-ness
I use Indyx and whilst I'm yet to upload my summer and corporate items - I estimate I've got about 400 items including accessories and jewellery. I'm not a fashion influencer AT ALL but I love fashion and it's my hobby. The main reason for the size of my wardrobe is that I live in a city where we have very distinct seasons and have very hot summers, and quite cold winters (and i feel the cold terribly). I also have two jobs (formal office corporate, and I'm a part time teacher) so i dress in line with my work context. I can't wait to book a styling session with you, i like your creative pairing and layering!
I'm curious if you tracked any clothing maintenance too in your budget like the tailor, dying clothes, repairs, etc. Love your videos and it seems like you do a lot of the maintenance care and tailoring yourself. Did you count any of the supplies you purchased for those projects in this data? Like the big scrunchie or paint for painting clothes or gems that you add to jewelry... stuff like that. Thanks Liz!!
I didn't include that in this total but that would be super interesting to look at! I don't think I've spent much money on wardrobe maintenance in the past several months because I've already had most of what I need around (maybe I got some specific thread colors?), but this cost would be super interesting to examine in the long term.
You may or may not have been the main inspiration for me getting Indyx, so we have been using the app for almost the same amount of time. Some of our stats match pretty well (60% used after six months). 157 items total, 103 of those are clothes, 54 are everything else. 38% tops was also my largest category by far, followed by bottoms at 15%. One thing that influenced my stats in an interesting way is that I was traveling for a total of 3 months out of those six, so I was working with capsule wardrobes made of carry-on-size luggage-friendly items for half the time. That means I wore my favourite sneakers 56 times and the same tote bag 48 times. Considering I think it's pretty good that my most repeated outfit was worn 4 times.
It would be great to see the breakdown after a full year. I may actually do this with my own wardrobe. It's hard to keep track of what clothes actually fit or what you have when I'm dealing with multiple seasons and post-baby body changes.
I track my clothing in a different app so categories are a bit different, but I can share some statistics! This was tracked during two years Total of 128 items, 35% of which is secondhand (I try to give my ''new'' clothes that I have purchased in the past a long long life so they dwell in my closet) I have not included any jewellery or outerwear jackets, because I don't really rotate between many different ones. Also no socks included My biggest category is tops: 59 items, including 28 t-shirts (I have so many t-shirts) and 15 long sleeve/turtle neck tops Biggest category after that is footwear with 11 items After that we have 10 pairs of pants (this app distinguishes pants and jeans, I have 3 pairs of jeans) Biggest colors are blue, grey, black, beige, and brown I have worn 100% of my closet but that is over all time. I cannot see a statistic for the last month. Top 5 brands are Monki, Primark, Mango, Weekday, and Stradivarius which all stem from my pre-thrifting era.
Hi! I really like the question you asked about people from other climates because I'm actually thinking of hiring you in Indyx to help me with my wardrobe and outfits. I am from a tropical country and my city is know as the city of the "eternal spring"; that is because through the whole year it's always 73 F, I mean every single day, it doesn't matter if it is August or January. We also have a very thriving fashion industry and I honestly think my style here is really good and it goes perfectly with the weather. I own lots of dresses and always buy national brands that use great fabrics. However, precisely because the weather is always the same, my wardrobe is around 55 items. In 3 months though, I'm moving to London and I literally have NO IDEA what to wear there. I've visited very cold countries before and I feel so out of place because I only think about wearing jumpers and jeans and jackets and I just don't feel cute or stylish as I do in my own city. I am in need of help. But to answer your question, yeah, in tropical or warmer places we often have much smaller wardrobes and it's more than enough.
It's all about layering! Maybe you can throw on a long sleeve under your dresses! And/or tights! Also finding fun pieces will help. Sometimes you throw on whatever's warm enough and won't drag the ground cause it's rainy and cold and you just need to run to the grocery store, but if you get a coat in your fave color, or rainboots that also feel fun to you, you'll feel better about it than a boring black/navy/tan "cause it goes with everything" puffer and boots. Play with textures and patterns and fits of clothes. There are a million shapes a sweater can be, y'know? Maybe research some local London designers for inspo, and get plugged into the fashion scene once you're there!
What country are you coming from?! The weather sounds fantastic (coming from a Londoner hahahha). I also agree with the other commenter that layering is key! And for the very cold months I recommend buying heat tech from Uniqlo (I buy these second hand).
I'd be curious to see you talk/demonstrate more what you do to encourage yourself to wear different items and not be too repetitive with your outfits. I'm sure the job encourages that, but also it gets easy for me to just have the things at the front of the drawer be what I've worn pretty recently and the back of the drawer items take more motivate to pull out and style.
I've honestly been working on getting better at this! In the most literal sense, I do actually try to put my recently worn/laundered clothes to the back of the dresser drawers instead of the front haha. Indyx also has a feature to sort your clothes by "least worn", so I'll often do that and try to style an outfit around a piece from there!
I "file fold" my tops and store them left to right in my drawer. Freshly washed stuff goes in the left, and everything gets pushed down. I know that stuff on the left is easy to throw on without thinking, and stuff on the right hasn't been worn in a while and would make a novel outfit! If things languish on the right too long then I know that I'm just not wearing them
Thanks for the Indyx content. It’s surprising that there’s not more. I’ve uploaded most of my closet but need to start uploading my accessories. I’m a nurse so I’m thinking of adding my scrubs so the analytics would account for me being boring 3-4 days a week. I need to get my closet done so I can get styled. Love your style and videos obviously ❤
Yes to all your video ideas in this video. I really love your videos, you are my favorite fashion TY. I love you style and your stand on sustainable fashion 💛 So thanks for great content 😄
i would LOVE all of the potential video ideas you mentioned in this video!! i’ll watch anythingggg you make. & you’re making me want to get indyx & start logging my clothes!!!
My favorite data points were the monthly cost of goods and the cost per wear. In my opinion, those statistics will be fun to observe over the next six months as well. I often justify spending a larger amount of money on an item (new or thrifted) based on my estimated CPW. Reflecting on my personal recent spending at the thrift store, a majority of my budget has actually been used for birthday gifts and early holiday shopping. I'd be interested to see a video of what you thrift (or make) for your loved ones as gifts - and to know if you also start early as I do!
i’ve been wanting to catalogue my wardrobe since you did, but i kept putting it off I’m finally going to do it!!! fascinated by the stats, & i really want to be styled by you!!!
I have been tracking my wardrobe for a year. It’s super fascinating to see the clothing I gravitate toward. We own a similar amount of clothing & our categories are relatively close. It’s interesting to see what I’m actually wearing, vs what I want my style to be, vs what I love the most. My favorite things to track are most & least worn & breakdown by color.
I did a quick entry (because I have most of my clothes saved on Pinterest anyways, and so took a few pictures of some other items) and (without pyjamas/underwear, but also without accessories/jewellery) I came to 74 items. I think that means 74 of my most worn items (now transitioning from summer to winter wardrobe so I did have all seasons out), I wonder with how much I'll end up if I end up putting them all in. It's 33 tops, 17 bottoms, 11 one pieces, 6 outerwear, 3 shoes (this is true), 1 percent other. A fun and exciting start! It also is nice to remind me of what I already have and the creating outfits is sooo easy & fun!
A note: I didn't include items I don't fit anymore. I size up and down sometimes and right now I've been on a health journey and very slowly, gradually, losing weight over a long time, so I want to wait to see where my weight organically ends up at, before getting rid of like 10-year old clothing that I kept because they were my most loved pieces.
Dang thats a lot! I currently have about 30 tops, 8 bottoms (excluding leggings and thights) and maybe 7-8 dresses. I have 7 cardigans and jackets, and one pair of everyday shoes for each season.
Love this! Just started using Indyx this month, inspired by you and Laini. Still uploading my gigantic wardrobe (which feels like the same 12 items in 15 colors each). I've been thrilled with the free trial of the insider analytics, although I do feel like there need to be a few more options. I'd love to be able to mark items gifted, or to flag them to be left out of the stats list, etc. So far, I also haven't marked my items by season, because, barring sweaters, I feel like most of my items get worn year-round, but I live in the South, so we only really have two seasons: very long summer and rather short winter. Anyway, would love to see all the data you want to share!
this video makes me want to see all your favorite outfits made and worn for each season! i definitely would be up to watch a video if it if you make one!!!
I’ve used the Stylebook app for probably close to a decade which has also style stats. It’s very satisfying to see the cost-per-wear of my most favorite high-quality splurges go down over time.
I’ve been waiting for the next installment of fashion analytics since you posted a video like this - last fall, I think? This video did not disappoint! And what a fun option to keep track of what you’re actually using in your closet!
I got the free trial of insider and we match up quite a bit when it comes to amount of items, how many of each, etc. it’s kind of neat! I want to keep using the app for free so i wont know how it stacks up for all seasons, but i’m excited for a 1 year video from you.
I have been doing this too (but started with the Whering app a little over a year ago before your Indyx videos). My wardrobe is mostly dresses! I actually have more than 27. BUT my second-hand and new are more 50/50 because I am in a small band and like to support other local bands at our gigs and buy merch like tshirts, hoodies, sweatpants etc. My work from home wardrobe is all comfy band clothes, but every time I leave the apartment it's in a dress. I wish the apps had 'local' section so you could say the items were new, but from a small business or local artist like a band or a market stall seller. Whering also shows what colours you wear most and what items you pair together most which is pretty cool--but being in a metal band being in British weather, it's not a huge surprise that I wear black the most and that my Doc Martens and leather jacket are paired all the time. I loved seeing your much more colourful calendar!
This was fascinating. I'm intrigued and potentially interested in cataloging and teaching my outfits, even if they mostly currently consist of T-shirts and leggings. 😂
I love this. ❤ I just started on Indyx this month and it’s a fun time. I catalogued everything except underwear and pyjamas… ended up with 109 items… which feels right for me, but maybe, shockingly minimalist for you (or for most)? 😅 23% accessories, 21% tops, 18% bottoms.
thanks so much!! & ooo I think for 100k I would choose to do something everyone can participate in, but I'd love to do another Indyx giveaway eventually!!
I downloaded Indyx because of your video and loved it since. I’ve been registering every ootd since MAY 🌸 and I mostly wear neutrals, always something black and lately red as an accent color ❣️
This would be so cool to look at over multiple years. My style is constantly evolving (I try to keep most things and restyle it in new ways) so being able to go back and look at not only what my fits used to be but also the data behind it would be so interesting.
looking forward to the 1-year data! i'd be really interested in seeing another video after another 6 months to reflect your fall and winter outfits then an overall look at the one year!
there is no need to justify how many clothes you own Liz! when you live in a place where it's cold for half the year and scorching for the other half, you need LOTS of variety hehe
I downloaded Indyx a while ago but have been discouraged to start cataloging because it will be like a full day of work... but this may be the kickstart I need to start!
I found Indyx from your videos and have been working on cataloging my wardrobe - I have already found myself making new outfit combos I wouldn’t have thought of and realizing my color preferences. I’m so excited to get all my pieces in and work on optimizing my wardrobe with pieces I really love
I'd love to see a video of "I wear everything in my closet"! That would be very inspiring for me to do the same. This is such a good idea in general. Great video! ❤
note on how your stats might be different from someone else (aside from the fact that you’re a fashion youtuber!) is work dress codes. i have been mostly wearing business casual and not my fav items because of work. i’ve been working on trying to acquire more work appropriate clothes i love but i know if i looked at stats of what i wear most often, my favs would be represented less
Great video, interesting to see the category breakdowns. And 61% secondhand is pretty impressive. I've got a wardrobe spreadsheet so I have a few stats! I currently have ~360 items excluding jewellery, of which 41% is secondhand and 37% are tops. Quite a lot, mostly because my mum has passed her clothes on to me for years. My most worn item is just my work backpack, which makes sense.
Oo this is a great question, I did not include those! So far I only have 2 tops I've kept from the last mystery bag and I haven't cataloged them yet. In the past, I've tried keeping others but I never end up wearing them so then I pass them on pretty quickly
Suggestion for 100k video - purchase a small box of thrifted items for the winner to match their style or help them style difficult items! I have a bit more than you in my indyx but I haven't been tracking through the app for very long (< a month). I started tracking straight clothing usage about 2 years ago via spreadsheet and it has definitely made me more conscious about the items I never want to wear or style, so that's been helpful I'm sooooo into indyx with one gripe, which is that items with no purchase date defaulted to this year, so it thinks I bought 54% of my wardrobe this year, which would be so stressful actually lol
I feel like cost per wear makes sense to be low for new stuff because a large part are gifts? although I've been loving clothing swaps and Buy Nothing groups as sources of free secondhand clothes. And the opportunity to get rid of the ones that don't end up working for me without feeling too bad about it.
oo I wasn't even thinking about that but that's totally why lol, if I had actually paid for all those things it would be WAY higher (I was just thinking about the couple things I had actually bought new but worn a lot). I also love a buy nothing group/clothing swap!!
I've even added in every perfume/scent and hair ribbons, clips, and scrunchies I have into Indyx. That really brings my numbers up, but I find it so fun to plan and track those! Definitely a bit boring to see "most worn" as shoes all the time, but I guess it just goes to show that shoes can be a very defining factor of our style! Great video; it's really fun to see the comparison to my wardrobe. For reference, I have around 10 pieces and some accessories like sunglasses I still need to add but my stats are: Items: 290 Tops: 86 (30%) Accessories: 58 (20%) (this is my ribbons and scrunchies and headbands and hair clips and scarves) Bottoms: 48 (16%) (Lots of skirts as well as casual and dress pants) One Pieces: 30 (10%) (I love and wear dresses a lot so I understand you, Liz! Also a few jumpsuits) Other: 19 (7%) (This is where I put my perfumes, also a shawl that I don't really consider outerwear or an accessory) Outerwear: 17 (6%) (I live in a climate with quite a cold winter and also wear blazers to work and for style a bit. TBH looking to add some more jackets like a brown leather one but definitely keeping it under 20!) Bag: 12 (4%) (I've only recently started using bags as real contributors to an outfit so I might add 2-3 in some colors; this number includes several tote bags I use for grocery shopping/practical uses as well as purses) Shoes: 12 (4%) Jewelry: 9 (3%) (I still need to add in some, but these are the ones I wear the vast majority of the time) Swim: I didn't input this and am honestly a bit baffled by its inclusion. I'd much rather have an activewear/athletic category or lounge/pajama category. But I have 2 bathing suits and some cover-ups lol Not in Indyx: sleepwear, activewear that cannot be worn for everyday clothing as well (this would probably add 20-30 items)
omg i LOVE that you shared all this in a comment, it's so cool to see what's similar and different to mine!! I also leave my pajamas and swimwear out--I'm guessing the swimwear is included for people who are using the app to place packing for trips and stuff? but I agree it's pretty irrelevant to me personally hahah
@@beepwrld Oh yeah that would totally make sense for vacation planning! Thanks for the reply! Keep up the good work---I love your style and personality!
omg this is the indyx follow up video I was waiting for! I can't believe it's been six months already. fun fact: we have almost the same amount of tops, I have 104
So interesting to hear about your long term statistics! I've been using a wardrobe app (first Acloset and now Whering) for almost a year and it's been so helpful. I have 319 items listed in the app. That number does include everything like jewelry, hair accessories, gym clothes etc. and also clothing I'm currently trying to sell and some items I've added to "try on" before actually buying them. So I guess my actual wardrobe is probably somewhere between 270 and 290 items. My top categories are dresses (20, 10 mini + 10 midi length) and long sleeved t-shirts (17, which is way too many...). I've worn 75% of my clothes and 83% of my wardrobe is second hand items. Overall I'm quite happy with my statistics but I'm also super motivated to get my usage up to 100% and cost per wear down to 0,50€ or less for most items.
2:14 Liz darling 103/4= 21 made me laugh so bad . The 19 tops missing are basically a fifth season. Love you though 😅
I just finished the video:
Congrats on 100K🎉
the way i didnt even question her math lol she said it so confidently 😭
LMAO ok it is so embarrassing that I didn't catch that😂😂
CORRECTION: approximately 26 tops per season!!!
This is Spotify wrapped for the fashion girlies
Omg Indyx needs to implement this!!!!!
Yesss
I’ve been tracking my clothes for 9 years (minus 1.5 years in the middle) and can confirm
real
Oh definitely.
Would love to see a video where you pick a few of the least/never worn items and make outfits for them. Or decide to get rid of them because that's valid too.
was just gonna comment this!!
Oh seconded
If you do a full year follow up, I'd love to hear what you've done differently (or intentionally kept the same) with your wearing habits as a result of seeing your data. Data is cool and all, but what it helps us learn and address is even cooler!
Totally seconding this!
I innocently set out to count how many dresses I own a couple of months ago. I stopped when I hit fifty. A great many of them thrifted, and I did start in the 80s, but still…I decided to gently draw a veil over the whole project.
Lol
Damn. Well congrats on staying the same size i guess haha
as an autistic person with a special interest in fashion and also data...... this video was so good and cool and interesting. loved it so much. thank you for another wonderful video liz
Omg twinz haha
Hoodies and sweaters should go in the outerwear category imo, especially since blazers are considered outerwear - I feel like that messes with everyone’s “tops” category. Also, with the amount of layering people do on top, I think it’s totally fair that it should be the biggest category. It’s weird to me that a camisole and a sweater would both count towards the ultra broad “tops” group
I was so confused when the cardigan category was in tops and not outerwear. I guess the people who made the app live in a much colder climate than me
@@soulsworn13 lol yeah cardigan is not out wear, just saying from cold climate country
It does need more variation in outwear
Yeah for me those are not outerwear, but they also don't really count as tops..they're kinda their own little category
@@soulsworn13I mean here in Germany you usually wear more than a cardigan as outerwear, except in summer
@@someundeadtalent2016 I think I'd die of heatstroke if I touched a cardigan in summer haha
It's the start of spring here in Aus and it's already getting too hot to wear much more than a t-shirt during the day, which sucks cause I love my knitwear
I totally relate to this!
& thank you so much! :')
Liz in her weatherforecast presenter era :D
LOL I felt so silly standing up but I think it was called for🤠
I track my pajamas too- and i wear them SOOO MUCH. way more than anything else. the things that feel interesting and important in my wardrobe get worn max 10 times a year.
We recalculated, agreeing that unless it's super hot, I can probably rewear those outfits 2-3 times in a row and don't need as much variety, but it's still coming out at 27%
Kinda interesting, because this is definitely not a category I've considered when looking at wardrobe composition before, or considered in my shopping plans.
Start your own channel as a potential for future income?
I have 672 pieces in mine and I’ve worn 63% so far 🥳🥳
@@gnine3299so nice to see I’m not the only one who already crossed 600 pieces although I might end up getting around 700 pieces once I’m done with everything
You’re glowing! 🌟
some of these stats would be more representative if given a median rather than an average value-like the repeat wear stat, as you explained, is not very representative because of the few pieces that get very heavy wear, like certain shoes or pieces of jewelry. i wish we could know the median number of uses each item gets, because it would better represent, across your wardrobe, where you’re more or less likely to repeat pieces across the board. interesting video all around though!
I would prefer getting all three m’s (median, mode, middle) cause I live averages but they do flop here
This was so fun! I’d love to see more on your color distribution. You use color in such an interesting way
I'd like to see more on color, too.
fashion statistics: upcoming degree in all major universities !!
I use Whering as an app, but I'll need to see if Indyx is better (for now I have about 1.5 months of data, 2 weeks I was at my mum's house where I have different clothes which I decided not to include in the data bc it's 1000 km away so...)
anyways, since you are curious of other people's stats, I can show some of my wardrobe composition (climate: Scandinavia, big city, but I don't feel cold properly; style: cottagegoth (alternative mixed with minimalist mixed with cottagecore mixed with artsy), most of my recently bought items are secondhand, but I have a lot of items I had for 5+ years (10+ even) that was purchased new so I input new)
375 items, of which 73% was purchased new, 22% preloved, 5% handmade
3 biggest categories are: 37 earrings, 32 T-shirts, 29 high socks
so yeah, I have input my collection of funky socks which does bring up the % of new items considerably. most of my jewelry was also purchased new and I do have a lot of that as a goth-adjacent girlie
about 1/3 of the items are black, then about 1/6 of them are silver, rest is mostly red/maroon, white/ecru, grey and pink
in 2 (1.5) months I have worn 54% of my wardrobe, where seasonality does play a big role, my long pants, coats, winter accessories ofc have seen no wear but I think this is a fair statistic and I def have the goal of wearing everything in a year
brands I wear the most: H&M (mostly basics from 5+ years ago and somehow I thrift a lot of H&M), Urban Outfitters (used to work there, had employee discount), Mango, Dr. Martens - but!! the app doesn't recognize all brands, I think I have more clothes from Reserved
overall, really fun experience and I would recommend it to any fashion person!
Excited to see how it’s going to be in six month or a year:D
wait i’ve never heard of this app and i’m OBSESSED!! love this video & will be downloading it STAT
It’s so good! ❤
I'm at 97% second hand! And I have 227 items.
Congrats on 100K! I'm so so happy to see one of my fav fashion girlies get the love they deserve ✨
It would be great to style all your unworn items together in a video
@@beepwrld yes, I agree it would be interesting!! :-) cool, thank you!

This was tracked during two years
Total of 128 items, 35% of which is secondhand (I try to give my ''new'' clothes that I have purchased in the past a long long life so they dwell in my closet)
I have not included any jewellery or outerwear jackets, because I don't really rotate between many different ones. Also no socks included
My biggest category is tops: 59 items, including 28 t-shirts (I have so many t-shirts) and 15 long sleeve/turtle neck tops
Biggest category after that is footwear with 11 items
After that we have 10 pairs of pants (this app distinguishes pants and jeans, I have 3 pairs of jeans)
Biggest colors are blue, grey, black, beige, and brown
I have worn 100% of my closet but that is over all time.
Your a mix of everything i like. Thrift, tough, cute, quirk and not the tik tok haul crap. Fun and thoughtful content. ❤😊
i would love to see more detailed analytics!!
Love your style and videos obviously ❤
do the analytic features (or just most of the features) cost money??
Yes to all your video ideas in this video.
I really love your videos, you are my favorite fashion TY.
I love you style and your stand on sustainable fashion 💛
So thanks for great content 😄
i would LOVE all of the potential video ideas you mentioned in this video!! i’ll watch anythingggg you make.
I started using Indyx this month so I haven't added much yet, but it's so cool to see all the possibilities!!
I bought 2 bras, a few pairs of underwear, 2 pairs of shoes, and a pair of hiking pants and a belt this year.
i’ve been wanting to catalogue my wardrobe since you did, but i kept putting it off
I’m finally going to do it!!! fascinated by the stats, & i really want to be styled by you!!!
i half-wanted to start tracking my outfits and this completely convinced me ! onto the daunting task of cataloguing everything...
I have been tracking my wardrobe for a year. It’s super fascinating to see the clothing I gravitate toward. We own a similar amount of clothing & our categories are relatively close. It’s interesting to see what I’m actually wearing, vs what I want my style to be, vs what I love the most. My favorite things to track are most & least worn & breakdown by color.
this is so coooooool, inspiring me to get around to loading my wardrobe onto this app lol
Would love to see a video with all the extra details, so fun!!
Anyway, would love to see all the data you want to share!
gosh you keep convincing me i need to catalogue my wardrobe! maybe i really should start... also congrats on 100k!! you deserve it
this video makes me want to see all your favorite outfits made and worn for each season! i definitely would be up to watch a video if it if you make one!!!
🎉🎉100K!!!🎉🎉
CONGRATULATIONS LIZ 😁
I’ve used the Stylebook app for probably close to a decade which has also style stats. It’s very satisfying to see the cost-per-wear of my most favorite high-quality splurges go down over time.
I’ve been waiting for the next installment of fashion analytics since you posted a video like this - last fall, I think?
This video did not disappoint! And what a fun option to keep track of what you’re actually using in your closet!
This was such an intresting and entertaining video! Loved all the stats, can't wait for the 1 year update!! :)
I got the free trial of insider and we match up quite a bit when it comes to amount of items, how many of each, etc. it’s kind of neat! I want to keep using the app for free so i wont know how it stacks up for all seasons, but i’m excited for a 1 year video from you.
to the youtube algorithm: thank you i love this
I have been doing this too (but started with the Whering app a little over a year ago before your Indyx videos). I loved seeing your much more colourful calendar!
haha im also in a band and have lots of band merch and was just thinking that this would skew things
23% accessories, 21% tops, 18% bottoms.
Congratulations on 100k!
I’m curious to see what the breakdown will be after a year of tracking.
How about a 100k giveaway to Indyx?
thanks so much!!
& ooo I think for 100k I would choose to do something everyone can participate in, but I'd love to do another Indyx giveaway eventually!!
the app stylebook does pretty much the same and is free 👀
I would LOVE a second video with more analytics, I'm such a nerd when it comes to this kind of thing! 😂
I don’t even need to see the bags in-store after watching mirbag! Your videos show everything I need.
Definitely would have loved to see stats on color and length of ownership. I hope you do this again on 6 months ❤
there is no need to justify how many clothes you own Liz! when you live in a place where it's cold for half the year and scorching for the other half, you need LOTS of variety hehe
Congratulations on 100k!!!🎉 I can’t wait to see more of your content, it’s something I look forward to every time I see it✨🌸
I'd love to see a video of "I wear everything in my closet"! That would be very inspiring for me to do the same. This is such a good idea in general. Great video! ❤
no way, these stats are free on whering... and indyx makes you pay for it ??
note on how your stats might be different from someone else (aside from the fact that you’re a fashion youtuber!) is work dress codes. i have been mostly wearing business casual and not my fav items because of work. i’ve been working on trying to acquire more work appropriate clothes i love but i know if i looked at stats of what i wear most often, my favs would be represented less
Yes to a second analysis video and a how fast you can wear all of your clothes video!!
I almost never download things, but this is instant need! I love this so much
Congrats on 100k! You’re my fave yt fashion girlie!
I wondered if you included the mystery bag pieces, or maybe how many of those you keep.
I started tracking straight clothing usage about 2 years ago via spreadsheet and it has definitely made me more conscious about the items I never want to wear or style, so that's been helpful
I'm sooooo into indyx with one gripe, which is that items with no purchase date defaulted to this year, so it thinks I bought 54% of my wardrobe this year, which would be so stressful actually lol
Yes yes yes yes this is the content i like to see please show us more and would love to see more of the details!!! ❤
I started using the app because of your first video! Its so interesting to know what you actually wear and can rule out!
I feel like cost per wear makes sense to be low for new stuff because a large part are gifts? although I've been loving clothing swaps and Buy Nothing groups as sources of free secondhand clothes. And the opportunity to get rid of the ones that don't end up working for me without feeling too bad about it.
I was thinking that too, that her new clothes are low in CPW due to the gifted items, otherwise it would probably be much higher
oo I wasn't even thinking about that but that's totally why lol, if I had actually paid for all those things it would be WAY higher (I was just thinking about the couple things I had actually bought new but worn a lot). I also love a buy nothing group/clothing swap!!
Low key kind of obsessed with this video
my usage percentage is 89%, Ive made it my goal to reach 100%, having a digital closet is so useful to get to use things in your wardrobe
For reference, I have around 10 pieces and some accessories like sunglasses I still need to add but my stats are:
Items: 290
Tops: 86 (30%)
Accessories: 58 (20%) (this is my ribbons and scrunchies and headbands and hair clips and scarves)
Bottoms: 48 (16%) (Lots of skirts as well as casual and dress pants)
One Pieces: 30 (10%) (I love and wear dresses a lot so I understand you, Liz! Also a few jumpsuits)
Other: 19 (7%) (This is where I put my perfumes, also a shawl that I don't really consider outerwear or an accessory)
Outerwear: 17 (6%) (I live in a climate with quite a cold winter and also wear blazers to work and for style a bit. TBH looking to add some more jackets like a brown leather one but definitely keeping it under 20!)
Bag: 12 (4%) (I've only recently started using bags as real contributors to an outfit so I might add 2-3 in some colors; this number includes several tote bags I use for grocery shopping/practical uses as well as purses)
Shoes: 12 (4%)
Jewelry: 9 (3%) (I still need to add in some, but these are the ones I wear the vast majority of the time)
Swim: I didn't input this and am honestly a bit baffled by its inclusion. I'd much rather have an activewear/athletic category or lounge/pajama category. But I have 2 bathing suits and some cover-ups lol
Not in Indyx: sleepwear, activewear that cannot be worn for everyday clothing as well (this would probably add 20-30 items)
omg i LOVE that you shared all this in a comment, it's so cool to see what's similar and different to mine!!
I can't believe it's been six months already. fun fact: we have almost the same amount of tops, I have 104
I love that movie!! It’s definitely worth a watch!
