@@irunasoftI literally took a debt from my bank for "furniture" just so I could donate 2000€ to the Victims. Not saying anyone should do this, honestly a dumb and impulsive action, but I am young and banks give me credit. And Kyoto Animation just gave me so much with their works. Probably the only reason I can hold a job and don't stay in my depression hole. Now a year later I payed off ~1800 of it, only 200 to go. (Also a good motivator to work if you are usually completely unmotivated because of depression)
violet evergarden is such an epic anime it's actually... shocking? that a anime can be this high quality in every single way possible.... i have seen many many anime pieces that was beautiful in many way, but none was beautiful in literally every single aspect, not even Makoto Shinkai's works which i held highly as one the example of beautiful art piece of an anime...
I literally never donate because I’m 16 but after I heard of this after watching damn near every Kyoto animations series and movies and after nights of crying and laughing because of what they created, I scrounged up what I had and donated 200 dollars I hope that whenever they start back up they know how much they mean to everyone who watches them
This literally hurts so bad.... A lot of Innocent People have died just minding their own job by such a person who thinks he's great enough, and just set the whole Building on Fire just to make a big trouble and get Such innocent and important people die due to those big fires.. If only i knew this happened last year, but sadly, i didn't... Now i don't know how to pay my respects, or how do i appreciate the work some innocent people have made for all of us. Kyoto Animation is a Really Good Animation Studios, They have made alot of animes just for us. I don't know what to say now, Their Journey has been so big since the start.. Respects for KyoAni, and Love... Kyoto Animation..
I know. Frick that guy who started the fire, I hope *he* burns in fire 6 feet under. I wish I could’ve supported KyoAni finically, but all I could do was watch their anime. I have watched both K-On (2019), and Ms. Koyobashi’s Dragon Maid (just this year), and they’re both great. I’m planning to watch Violet Evergarden later this year and Silent Voice.
@@addminustraitor8514 not like they have lost everyone, and the rest will carry the legacy and teach new generations, I believe they will stay true to their previous works.

Crazy because I was e-mailing Kyoani about the award contest that I wanted enter back in December 2018. I want to work for Kyoani through Animation Do studio in Osaka because I want to live in Osaka. I wasn't expecting a reply back from Kyoani. The year I was gonna enter which was last year, the contest got canceled. I hope the person I was e-mailing back and forth didn't die in the fire. I'm glad Kyoani never gave up and kept going!
@@SeraphArmaros really?? Why in documentary, animators says all company specially animation can exchange people or borrowed animators to each other, there is no competition, Almost all the documentaries I watched saying they removed the company competition, all company that releasing international product, Game, anime and manga
@@akinemainunangugel9650 here's a thing, It is quite common to see animator got exchanged between different studios without getting pay with a regular salary. But in kyoani that is a whole different story, the animator including anime director, progress monitor, and rank n file staff are hired and paid with a set salary which is relatively high compares to the other firms in the Japanese anime industry
@@akinemainunangugel9650 borrowed animator without hiring them seems to be beneficial when it comes with no competition part, but take a second thought, the Studio doesn't usually borrow the animator from the other studio for basic anime insert tasks, the salary wouldn't be good even they do. Of that, they would rather pick up some individual rookie animators, without actually paying them regular salaries. on top of that, the quality of the product could not be ensured.
I live far from Kyoto in Minneapolis Minnesota USA and I am 74, since I retired i started to spend my days and nights watching anime. I had no idea that story after story that I loved was created and produced by Kyoto Animation. I not only watched them but began to purchase the dvd's. I bot them all and still enjoy them. I started with Clannad and Violet Evergarden and watch them many times. It is impossible to express my gratefulness to those beautiful lost souls. My prayers will forever be in my hart for them. what really broke my heart was at the end when they showed 1000 origami cranes. And what really meant a lot was because, if you guys remember from a silent voice they were making them for one wish. this really shows that they hope for the best for these peoples families and that it is so much more than a studio it was a family. And that's how it should be. Imma miss them but in happy that they are still the best people you could meet. I wish i could meet them. Anyways, I hope whoever read this have a great day! :)
To add on to what the comment above said, the idea behind the 1000 cranes is a legend that says that folding 1000 origami cranes would grant the person one wish. Sadako Sasaki, a girl who was hospitalized due to radiation poisoning from the dropping of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima during World War II, popularized this myth as she dedicated her wish towards world peace but sadly passed away at the age of 12. Her friends and family raised enough funds to dedicate a statue for her in the Hiroshima Peace Park, and to this day many people hang strings of cranes around her statue. This is a well known tale within the Japanese American community as well. Many of us take the time to string lines of cranes around monuments built upon the sites of the Japanese internment camps across the country,
It broke my heart when the director of Hyouka is not here anymore, I love Hyouka it is the series that welcome me to Kyoto Animation...I hope they rest in peace
Same, is criminally underrated. It was the only one of their anime that I didn't know was made by Kyo Ani, but now I see the style is the same. Rest in peace to all these artists
i absolutely love hyouka as well. there are so many things about it that are just breathtaking yet subtle. I can clearly see why its not as popular, but that doesnt mean it isnt amazing. At least now Maid Dragon S2 is finally coming and hopefully that will be a nice tribute to Yasuhiro Takemoto
To be honest, I had a cold heart then, I didnt know what the studio was, even though I watched their animes. I heard of the accident, felt confused and sad a but, and moved on. but this gave me insight on how amazing this company and their people are. and how everyone was working with the recovery. this gave me a better view of how tragic things really are. and I hope things will be better.
@Osiris Rewoke I think they more so meant that they've just been desensitized to tragedy, as have most of us in recent years. It's not that they don't feel bad for the people that lost loved ones or their lives, rather, it's the fact that gut wrenching, awful things like this happen on such a daily occurrence that it isn't as impactful as it truly should be, because it's sadly something we see far too often. I think they just used some poor wording with the cold hearted part because when I read the article when it was originally happening I felt bad and I knew some of their works and it was sad but at the same time these things just happen far too often for me to be taken aback by it. But with this update and getting a little bit more info on all the things that people did to support and help, that made me cry. Kind of funny how its now the really kind and compassionate things are what evoke emotion from me now, rather than the tragedy itself but I digress.
Sometimes when you dont hear the specifics its hard to empathize, because you dont know what the people actually went through and its hard to imagine this kind of thing could happen to you too
I didn’t even know that this happened until currently and it’s horrible that the man who did this had barely any reason too he did it for such a small reason I can’t believe I didn’t know about this sooner I’m such a huge fan of violet evergarden and I’m waiting for the next movie to come out and I loved a silent voice bless the souls of the animators who worked, passed away, and were injured at Kyoto animation
I was in Kyoto when this happened, I had just watched A Silent Voice with my family, I was in complete shock and sadness to hear the news. I can’t imagine what Hatta was feeling when he saw the studio. I have so much love and respect for Kyoani, for the art they create, for their healthy business practices, for being a shining example of a good work environment for animators in an industry that often fails to live up to that standard. I’m so happy to see how much love and support has been shown from around the world trough donations and spreading the word of the studio and its incredible works, this truly is a special animation studio and the attack is still so heartbreaking. Okeda is a legend, absolute legend. It’s so wonderful how many people stepped up to help, I hope Kyoani has a bright future.
I'll never forget that day. I went to the hospital on that day due to my relative accident and around afternoon, i watched the news and learned that one of the anime studios got on fire. When i first heard it was Kyoto, it got my attention and litterally cried. I was new to anime at the time and Kyoani is one of the anime i ever watched. It still hurts to this day.
@@Yiman Thankfully, the accident is nothing permanent and she was in hospital for over a week. Funny thing is that, i was deadly focused on Kyoto instead of my sister. Yeah i was really dedicated to the studio at the time.
I've only watched Violet Evergarden by them, I've heard about the fire but i didn't even know how bad it was. This video was really well done, thanks for making it
@@arandomgrillwithoneeye6105 me july 2019 and until now i barely watch anime, i have watched like 150. But i watched more in the past with my brother but i geniuly started watching anime in july 2019
I watched Violet Evergarden a few weeks before the fire happened. I anticipated the movie and late last year I searched if it was out but instead saw articles about the fire instead. Really happy that things worked out in the end, sadly it doesn’t bring back those who lost their lives.
Abrilla 2 M yeah I know. Like disabilities mental health etc but crimes like those are not known. They don’t have teenagers shooting up schools like the us .-. Has like everyday. Well not now since COVID but definitely is a problem.
Useless. I’ve heard that there is heavy dishonor distributed amongst Japanese whenever that conviction rate is affected, so many cases are thrown away when there isn’t an overwhelming amount of evidence which would result in an automatic conviction. This leaves many without justice. Have you heard of anything like that? I’m not saying it’s fact but I’ve read something proposing that theory.
I remember when my dad asked me "Do you know an animation studio called Kyoto Animation?" I said "Yeah, it's my favourite studio, what about it?"... "News says someone burned their studio" At this moment I could feel my heart sink like it never did. I decided to re-watch K-On wich is my favourite anime by them, and it was seriously the hardest thing I ever did. I couldn't help but think all the time "What kind of person would do something like this to a group of people that have brought so much joy to a whole community?" I hope that guy never gets a chance to hurt anybody ever again. He deserves to rot in prison. PERIOD.
You can rest assured that he'll get what he deserves. Japan's system is far from perfect, and a wrongly accused person could suffer because of it, but this is one of those scenarios where those exact imperfections becomes perfect for something.
My mom said the same thing. I was helping somebody's animation for their book that day. My dad told my mom about seeing Kyoani on fire on the news and my mom told me about it after I got done. I was shocked.
I remember being so distraught last year when it happened. A few weeks later I bought Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Vol. 8, it was an amazing read, the best book by far in its series. Then I got to the afterword and reading the mangaka's excitement that there was going to be a season 2 anime completely broke me. Thank you for making this video. I'm so glad to hear that they're making a speedy recovery.
To be honest I did not know about the studio though but I was genuinely shocked that the fact someone burned an anime studio AN ANIME STUDIO! I was saddened just how nobody is safe and we will never know when times are gonna be safe, so this will mark the most tragic for the anime community though to be genuine I don't like the community. The studio has a huge future ahead of them but due to the circumstances it was unfortunate.
It is nice to see so many people coming together and sharing their feelings on the situation. When it happened, I too felt completely torn apart. I was always a big fan of kyoto animation works (for nearly 5 years now) and was very vocal about, always bragging about it to my friends, so you can imagine how destroyed i was when this happened. I wanted to discuss about it so badly but sadly i was the only person among my friends and family that watch anime so I had no one to talk about. They were not interested in the topic and could not relate well. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, nice to see that there are people that actually fell the same as i do T_T
One other individual that needs to be recognized is Katsuya Takasu, Japan's leading cosmetic surgeon. He always has a policy of offering free services to victims of severe and tragic circumstances.
Holocaust denial and praise of Nazism In 2017, the Simon Wiesenthal Center was made aware of Tweets made by the doctor in 2015, wherein he praised Nazism for the progress made in German technology under the Nazi regime. He stated that no doubt that the Jews were persecuted by the National Socialist German Workers' Party, but the toll of Auschwitz and the Holocaust victims was exaggerated by Allies.[15][16]The Simon Wiesenthal Center announced that the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery had responded to the center that an investigation about his membership would be completed in a few weeks.[17][18] On November 8 2017, the Simon Wiesenthal Center announced that the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery expelled him due to the Holocaust and Nanjing Massacre denial.[2] Takasu has also posted articles denying sexual slavery by the Japanese imperial military during World War II[19] and defending Unit 731[20].
When the fire happened and I saw it on UA-cam, my heart dropped. All of the amazing animes they have made and the ones that I have watched went through my mind while I was looking at the video.
I don't think I'll ever forget where I was when I first heard about the kyoani fire. I'm a person who is very passionate about animation, and I really feel the passion of the kyo ani workers, it's something I greatly admire, and watching the lives of someone doing your dream get ripped away from them, really hits differently. I didn't know back then that a lot of my favourite shows were made by kyoani. I remember the dread of throughout that night, finding out more and more of my most beloved shows, including my most beloved show of all time, Love Chunibyou and Other Dilusions, were made by this company. Honestly, I think the night I found out about it will forever be seared into my mind, and I don't even know the victims. And that's the thing. We don't even know these victims, yet we've experienced the work they've put their complete heart and soul into, and we've all been impacted by their work. Which is why in a world full of awful acts like this, this one hit very differently.
I don't know why I'm crying now. As much as I loved/still love them I didn't cry back then. I just stayed strong. And now I tear up and cry when I hear they're getting back up on their feet. It's as if it all only just now truly hit me.
Same for me. I was sad when I heard the news. Hearing the 1 year follow up, I'm tearing up. I think it's one of sadness for the esteemed studio and despair for the families left behind as much as hope and faith being restored.
When first heard about it i thought “no this can’t be real why would anyone do that to an awesome anime studio” then after seeing a video about it I was in shock I was in utter disbelief, my main thought was why would someone do something so terrible.
I've heard that the man who caused the fire, that they weren't mentally ok at the time before causing the fire, he was I guess you can say, "crazy" in his head, it's still frustrating to know someone could do such a thing 😔
The person claimed that KyoAni stole his works, so, in revenge, he did something like that. But the saddest part was that all of that was for nothing. It was verified that no any works of him had any familiarity with kyoani's works and so, kyoani was innocent... I just wonder how brainless idiot that guy was...
I used to truly hate myself. I suffered from depression. I took a lot of meds, they never worked. But what KyoAni produced were the meds that finally saved me from suicide and taught me to love myself and the things around me, no matter how much they hurt, and enjoy the little things, even if I didn't have a true purpose in life. To the bottom of my heart, I thank KyoAni, and it may be a year later, but I still believe that those who died deserve a sincere farewell, and I'm glad that their killer was brought to justice.
@@irunasoft and @z then that just means you are a lot mature and experienced in expressing yourself in life. I am teenager and I sometimes cry on occasions that isn't a big deal to many but I just can't control my emotions well. All people are different and have different emotions, opinions, etc.
I actually cried when the director of miss kobayashis dragon maid was one of the victims of this disaster, I have my own special meaning to the anime as it was the first, and my most favorite anime ever, it touched in topics that I can relate to, the characters, the story, the message, it all touched me and it's what made me love anime now, 😔 it's sad for the director of the anime being one of the victims , may he Rest In Peace 😔🙏

When I found out about this last year I really felt heartbroken, I wanted to be an animator when I grow up and Kyoto Animation has inspired me greatly to pursue it, I dreamed of working in Kyoto animation as well, so hearing that their studio burnt down, I broke down as well, I did my best to do my part and donated 200 dollars for it to be fixed again and I'm very happy that they didnt go to waste. But Im still heartbroken about all the talented animators passing away because of the fire, they were the ones who created these masterpieces that inspired millions of people including me, may them all rest in peace.
When I first heard of this, i was shook. My brother, devastated. I am not much of a weeb (yet) but this incident broke my heart and made me scared that the company might fall and never get back up. Luckily all you weebs and special people out there helped Kyoto Animation and got them back to their feet. If it was not for you, they can make more nice anime for more years to come. RIP to the victims, Long Live Kyoto Animation!!!!
My older brother was the first to hear the news about the fire, he broke down, didn't get up from his bed, he just stayed there until evening, where I heard the news from the TV. I cried as I tried to continue playing on my phone to distract myself from it, later on I looked about it online, and seeing that there were so many deaths, broke my heart. For the rest of the day, I wasn't in a good mood at all, I kept sighing(without me realizing it, I think you do that when you're upset?) Me and my older brother were so hyped about the violet evergarden movie ever since it was announced, but we were upset that it was delayed, but we were even more devastated knowing that lives were lost from the very studio we admire so much. We loved so many anines that were created by them. Miss kobayashi's dragon maid, Hibike! Euphonium, a silent voice, violet evergarden. These were only brought to life by their hard work and dedication. Each cretaion they made, gave me a feeling that I don't think I could've felt with people. I can't thank them enough for making such wonderful creations, I hope that the victims and families have recovered, if they haven't, I hope that they will be showered with blessings and great health.

i was kind of the same, i mean i've heard of people talking about Kyoani prior, but never really paid too much attention to them until i found out after watching K-On that it's one of Kyoani's production, i was like "ok... so they got some decent stuff, maybe i will keep an eye out" (really liked the music and how high school kids starting their on band, they other stuff didn't really interest me at the time tbh...), then there's the dragon maid, which was cute and all, but that's about it... then i randomly found Violet Evergarden on netflix... and god damn it was so perfect in every way possible, the framing, the music, all the backgrounds, all the storys... i have never before seen an anime that is so perfect in literally every single aspect! and then... when she jumped across that pond... when the mom's voice over was reading those letters... the letter she wrote for the dying soldier at the snowing mountian... i have never cried so hard watching an anime... and then the fire happened...
It still hurts me whenever I remember it, more so the fact that it happened on my birthday. I'm glad that KyoAni was able to start over after such a tragedy. They're one of my inspirations in pursuing fine arts & animation. May their souls rest in peace 🙏
Acrim This successful inclusive company was doing what they always did when someone decided to start a fire where people’s lives were ended, their life work was burnt to a crisp. How isn’t this sad?
First of all, thank you so much for your support/love. Apologies for not responding to every comment, but I read ever single one. I think the biggest thing is that it is so reassuring that anime fans from all over the world is able to feel the pain I felt around this tragedy. We truly lost many legends that day. So, there was two things i wanted to quickly address. Many people were asking me monetize this vid and buy Kyoani merch. I think thats a great gesture, but it still doesn’t sit right with me that I am able to make money off people’s pains. I would rather spend my own personal money to support KyoAni. 🙏 The second question Ive been seeing a lot is how people could personally donate money to Kyoani. As of right now, there is no such Gofundme’s or crowdfunding for Kyoani. In the words of Kyoani rep, Daisuke Okeda, the best way to support the studio “is for the fans to continue to watch and enjoy Kyoto Animation projects. That is the biggest support we can receive. If you respect and enjoy everything that Kyoto Animation has to offer, please continue to support us.” I hope yall will continue to support Kyoto Animation and also personal projects that i am working on in the future! Love yall Lastly, here is the list of songs i have used in the vid (since 20 of yall asked): Violet Evergarden “Sincerely” 0:08-1:53 Violet Evergarden “In Remembrance” 1:56-4:42 Silent Voice “Lit” 4:35-8:02 Violet Evergarden “A Place to Call Home” 8:39-10:59 Violet Evergarden “Letter” Piano and Orchestral Cover 11:16-13:05
Heartwarming video dude great job and yea f**k that jabba the hut looking prick I'd execute him but still Kyoani was one of the studios I was thinking about working for someday I create my own anime through my drawings or what not and well I look up to them a lot along with other companies like Gainax, Sunrise or even Toei cause I want to be part of this great industry of creativity and expression and it brings me so much joy that Kyoto Animation is getting back on it's feet after such a horrific event, much love.
I wasn’t into anime as much back when this fire happened so I hardly knew about it, but hearing about what happened is heart breaking because a lot of the anime that I love were made by this studio and I didn’t even know. I’m a teenager but I’m gonna donate some of my money to them to give back to a studio that had a special place in my heart before I knew their story.
I clicked on this because of the Violet Evergarden thumbnail, but its a bummer to hear about a studio with such high quality work getting hit by such a sad event. Lots of love for those we lost ❤
4:49 Hearing koe no katachi's ost melts my heart... I'm really happy kyoani's coming back. The anime community will support that studio however it can and we all know it!
I feel like an idiot that just now I've known about this. I may not have seen these anime or even heard of Kyoto Animation but I can honestly say that this was a very tragic incident that happened. As someone who appreciates the anime industry and japanese entertainment, it is devastating to have all your hard work lost in a arsenic fire and even more devastating that your fellow coworkers died in that fire. The sick bastard reason for doing this was because he accused the studio for stealing his work. I think it was a very stupid reason for him to do that, and I'm glad that he's finally behind bars. My thoughts and prayers go to the families of those victims out there! I'm glad they were able to get compensation for their losses and I'm glad that Kyoto Animation was able to get on right path.
Really should go watch a few of their series. A Silent Voice, Violet Evergarden, Hyouka or any others you can find. After that you will realize, even more so, just how massive a tragedy this event truly was. Both for the quality of the work destroyed and the integrity of the studio in their treatment of their employees. It really was a heartbreaking loss. =/
WAIT YOU'RE TELLING ME THEY MADE NOT ONLY NICHIJOU, BUT K-ON BLEND-S AND VIOLET EVERGARDEN!? WHAT NEXT, KILL ME BABY? MAGI!? EDIT: THEY MADE SILENT VOICE. WHY. NOW I WANNA WATCH ALL THEIR ANIMES. EDIT. MISS KOBOYASHI??? I DIDN'T WATCH IT BUT I FEEL REALLY SORRY FOR ALL KYOANI FANS
If youre talking about the 0:58 picture, i guess the only character they didnt adapt were some of the ones in the top left. They are mascots from a rythmgame, this picture was one of the winners of the games seasonal fanart contest. The winners are used as mainmenu background. Had no idea that all of the other characters were kyoani. But knowing now, that pic really hits the feels.
I don’t get upset at most things, but the burning of KyoAni made me sob like a baby. The company that brought me so much happiness had been burnt down by some sick bastard. I couldn’t do anything the whole day of the attack. My mind was fuzzy and my heart felt so heavy. I’m glad I found this video since I finally have closure of the aftermath. I cried tears of sadness as well as tears of joy and relief. Thank you for informing me. Thank you everyone for revitalizing KyoAni.
A silent voice had me in tears. I had never watched many kyoani works until 2019 a week or 2 before the fire. On that terrible day i saw gigguk, the anime man and other big names talking about kyoani and my heart sank. They have done so much and are truly not only just a bunch of talented animators but also such a caring company. Thank you kyoani
it's good that the Diet decided to allow all this money to go to the families tax free, but it's even better to hear that Kyoto Animation is back in action. long may they stay active.

It was heartbreaking then, and its heartbreaking now, that in a sea of godawful companies in japan that treat their employees like expendable worthless pieces of meat, the one fucking studio that treated its employees with basic decency and respect ended up suffering such a horrifying tragedy.

It's been two years now and it's still painful. God bless you KyoAni, your work inspired me, when my life seemed so dark and hopeless, you helped me in ways that will stay with me forever. You inspired me to live. Thank you.
Remember hearing about it in the middle of the night with friends after going on my phone and going onto Facebook, kinda just sat there in silence after I told another friend. Said I was going to sleep after what I read. Never thought I’d cry so hard that night for them that brought everybody such joy. Man, this studio actually made me pick up guitar because of their work work K-On and I never thought I’d have so much fun just playing away and learning some of the songs they made for it and with some of the meaning behind the music, it just really hits home honestly, and they even made me pick up drawing again and makes me wanna possibly become an animator and try my own drawings come to life. Bless these people honestly for still kicking even a year later and bless them for some of the stuff the gave us when we needed it the most. Love you KyoAni. Love from Canada ❤️
thanks for leaving such a personal and touching comment! yes its crazy how sometimes anime impacts us in more ways than one, and i hope you pick up drawing again!
Same...I felt devasted that day and some time after and kept checking for updates every day, just hoping there are no more victims being announced. While i already had been playing guitar for a while, K-on was still so fun and inspiring and sparked that excitement even more. I learned their songs and ended up actually buying Yui's guitar model after watching it, the Les Paul (but Epiphone, not Gibson cause that's as far as my budget could go), in the same color and even bought the same Marshall amp she used for practice. I still use them till this day. And the Clannad series are my absolute favorite anime. Violet garden is among my top ones too, they had many great works that I will probably never forget and brought so much joy to many people like myself. Essentially been a big part of my youth, and even into my current adult life. The loss of so many great people really sadden me. Even though I've never met or seen them, I felt somehow connected to them. I really hope something like this never happens again and security or whatever gets strengthened...
The last time I went to Japan (before the Covid-19), I went to this mall and people were leaving small sticky notes on a wall dedicated to Kyoani, thanking them and praying that they’d be okay. I found it beautiful, and almost shed a tear at how beautiful it was.
I honestly didn't know about this because I started watching anime in march, but seeing this and hearing the quiver in the narrators voice does dig deep. I've seen some of Kyoto Animation's works and they were amazing. I'm happy that they haven't given up even with what happened.
Bro I only realised a year after kyoani burned down that silent voice was by them... This makes me so sad, because that movie was a fundamental part of what got me into anime and cartoons and just changed my personality so much! Rest easy to all that died in the incident... You changed many lives and continue to do so as your movies and legacy lives on
WOW!! its really been a whole year now, i still remember when i knew about the incident, i was really depressed for a whole 2 weeks. Hope they kyoani can get back on their feet again i really miss their beautiful work. #PrayForKyoAni
I knew I was gonna get incredibly distraught if I read the details of the tragedy even further at that time so I avoided it I still felt quite sad and mad regarding the incident
About a year ago, when I heard about the fire, I didn't pay too much attention to it. Eventually I started watching some anime, and the more I saw the sadder I felt about the accident. The effort those people put in every single frame, in every single scene was true passion and dedication. Today, looking back, I realized that those people at KioAni weren't just animators, but artists who told their stories by animating. What happend at KioAni is an awful experience, I am just glad people supported the victims of that tragedy
Every single anime from them, changed me. I cried so hard on this. The “Sincerely” piano in the background. It’s been one year. They don’t deserve this. Thank you Koyani, so much. #prayForKoyani
This event is so depressing yet uplifting at the same time. So many people went above and beyond to help out, even people who seemingly have no reason to care.
Hope that this kind of event dont happen again ever, i hope everything will be okay for the future, and i actually cried watching this video, thanks for making this kind of information video, because before this video, i dont know anything about this tragic event
july 18th 2019 is the kyoani tragedy july 18 2020 is where miura san committed suicide. 😢 its a terrible coincidence so i hope nothing worst or horrible will happen again in july 18 2021 or for the whole month of july 2021
It really does hurt to think the tragedy that befallen from Kyoto Animation. I really couldn't think that this happened a year ago: It feels like yesterday for me. I hope that they will recover fully in the near future.
watching this i started to cry again......when i heard about the fire i was in a hotel in another state......i was told by my mom, when i was told i fell to my knees and cried, my mom couldn't understand why i was crying. that was until i told her why Kyoto animations has brought us laughs......they brought us tears. they made us feel things that we didnt think we could feel, they brought family and friends together, I'm so glad to be part of this amazing community that is willing to band togeather so quickly to rebuild what was lost..........this brings light to the darkness that was what happened
Man I never realized this happened. I just watched silent voice today and I wanted to know more about the studio. Its just so awful. Those animators were so insanely talented, and seemed like they really had a passion for their work. I can’t believe it took ten months to put that scumbag In jail but I’m glad it seems there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
So glad even with all the shit happening in this world Kyoto rise above it, great video man PS. you putting a kingdom refernce I would love to see a Kingdom video

@@akinemainunangugel9650 borrowed animator without hiring them seems to be beneficial when it comes with no competition part, but take a second thought, the Studio doesn't usually borrow the animator from the other studio for basic anime insert tasks, the salary wouldn't be good even they do. what really broke my heart was at the end when they showed 1000 origami cranes.

Same
@Osiris Rewoke I think they more so meant that they've just been desensitized to tragedy, as have most of us in recent years.

It’s quite shocking for Japan. They aren’t at all known for these types of crimes. :/

Abrilla 2 M yeah sexual harassment/assault is treated as the norm or should be expected there, sad really heard so many fucked up stories..
Well, junko furuta case was caused by Japanese teenagers.
That’s because Japan has a 99.9% conviction rate.
"News says someone burned their studio"
At this moment I could feel my heart sink like it never did. I decided to re-watch K-On wich is my favourite anime by them, and it was seriously the hardest thing I ever did. You can rest assured that he'll get what he deserves. Japan's system is far from perfect, and a wrongly accused person could suffer because of it, but this is one of those scenarios where those exact imperfections becomes perfect for something.

I am gonna watch some of the other anime series/movies that Kyoto Animation made now.
I’d only watched K-On! Really was painful to hear the incident, and I was praying for all of the victims on the days that I would watch K-On!
@@Rekter Watch Violet Evergarden, so emotional
Jak_ow
Yeah, I’m planning to later on this year.
@@Rekter I think, everyone need to watch Violet Evergarden. I recently ended to watch the serial and I still can't stop crying. Such a beautiful and hearbreaking anime with unbelievable quality. I'll never forget this and I'll rewatch this anime many times for sure. So don't plan it, watch right now) I'm sure you will get emotion as well.
I didnt like Dragon maid just not my type but i watched other anime from kyoto animation
It's Long live Kyoto animation.
@@firelightyear Thank you for noticing my typo, I will have it reedited.
For the rest of the day, I wasn't in a good mood at all, I kept sighing(without me realizing it, I think you do that when you're upset?)
Me and my older brother were so hyped about the violet evergarden movie ever since it was announced, but we were upset that it was delayed, but we were even more devastated knowing that lives were lost from the very studio we admire so much.
“Man, I feel happy, but sad. When I never heard of a Fire in Kyoto Animations Studio. I never heard of it. Till I started watching clips of Anime of Dragon Maid, K-on, And Violet Evergarden. And many more.”
“But I have a Big interest of History, Storytelling, and Character. And that was “Violet Evergarden”. I started watching Clips of this Series. And man, I was instantly fall in love with this Series. The Soundtrack sounded so Beautiful & Amazing That it fitted well in her story. And then I started watching the entire Netflix Series episode of her. And God, it was amazing. Episode 10 & 13 got me hard as well. It’s ashamed, I didn’t watch the Movie of her other adventures though.” 😕
“I also made her My Waifu, but not fully. After I watched the Series of her. She would be my only trustful personal Waifu that I would respect & loved about her.” 😊
“I was planning on making Fanfic story, and a big story on Wattpad & featuring her in it. But also special One-shot story of me & her. And other of my Waifus too. But I wanted to respect much of her Character Arc in the story. Just like the Series, her story, her Arc, and her Adventure & Development of it. Just like all people who did in Kyoto.”
“And I about to do it just now. After watching this video. 🙏 I respect you of making this video. And telling what happened. I thank you for it.”
“And I cannot Wait to see the Movie coming in this year of 2020.”
“I Also keep trolling my Classmate & My Friend of me bringing them up Anime & My Waifu of her. Which I keep Lmao.” 🤣
“Thank you & Kyoto Animations. I hope there’s a great future of that Studio.”🙏☺️
Edited: 8/23/20, I decided to comeback here to add more of my thoughts. If she Existed or if Not AnimeRace existed. I would confessed my Love for her & Me. I would even Marry her, if she Existed. Why? Back In my Childhood, i was Friend with a Blonde, who lived in my Suburban Neighborhood with Iron fence & Gates inside. I hang out with her all the time. But, what’s worse. I don’t remember her Named & I was so Stupid As a Little boy. And yet I never forget her hair & face. Till the time I was still growing up. I still Regret of what I was of how Stupid I was back then. And I really hated it. And I still do Stupid thing this Today, but not intentional. In the Future, I want fixed my Problems in my Childhood. If Violet Existed or the AnimeRace Existed. I would finally be myself and hangout with her. Even confess my love for her. And Marry her. Have a. Great a Future for us. 😢

yess violet is def waifu material! thank you for your nice and thoughtful comment, I really appreciate it!
i was kind of the same, i mean i've heard of people talking about Kyoani prior, but never really paid too much attention to them until i found out after watching K-On that it's one of Kyoani's production, i was like "ok... so they got some decent stuff, maybe i will keep an eye out" (really liked the music and how high school kids starting their on band, they other stuff didn't really interest me at the time tbh...), then there's the dragon maid, which was cute and all, but that's about it...
then i randomly found Violet Evergarden on netflix...
and god damn it was so perfect in every way possible, the framing, the music, all the backgrounds, all the storys... i have never before seen an anime that is so perfect in literally every single aspect!
and then... when she jumped across that pond... when the mom's voice over was reading those letters... the letter she wrote for the dying soldier at the snowing mountian... i have never cried so hard watching an anime...
and then the fire happened...
@Aayush Kumar at least the obsession wasn't of something negative... like drug, alcohol, violent or worse :3
It still hurts me whenever I remember it, more so the fact that it happened on my birthday. I'm glad that KyoAni was able to start over after such a tragedy. They're one of my inspirations in pursuing fine arts & animation. May their souls rest in peace 🙏
This is so sad...
Alexa... (This is genuinely sad. I'm sorry)
This wasn’t really all that sad ngl
If you think about it they’re making it out to be way worse than it actually is
@@acrim1705 dude. People died in a fucking fire. Burned to crisp. You think this isn't serious?
Acrim This successful inclusive company was doing what they always did when someone decided to start a fire where people’s lives were ended, their life work was burnt to a crisp. How isn’t this sad?
I think this should be monetized but all money goes to KyoAni
I don't think that KyoAni has a place for donations anymore.
buy from them then
I think buying their official merch is much better. That'd show more respect to the deceased workers and artists.
Use the money and Buy their merch.
That's one way.
@@fauzanaziz6365 yeah I guess you can use the money from this monetization and buy their merch
The second question Ive been seeing a lot is how people could personally donate money to Kyoani. If you respect and enjoy everything that Kyoto Animation has to offer, please continue to support us.”
I hope yall will continue to support Kyoto Animation and also personal projects that i am working on in the future! Love yall
Lastly, here is the list of songs i have used in the vid (since 20 of yall asked):
Violet Evergarden “Sincerely” 0:08-1:53
Violet Evergarden “In Remembrance” 1:56-4:42
Silent Voice “Lit” 4:35-8:02
Violet Evergarden “A Place to Call Home” 8:39-10:59
Violet Evergarden “Letter” Piano and Orchestral Cover 11:16-13:05

thank you

I tried to hold back tears.......
I can’t stop crying, can’t stop thinking about the morning I found out....... life’s not fair.

They're probably trolls so dw about them too much

How long is his sentence?
So the bed man with masker was the criminal? Any links?
Just read an article. Fvck given to Aoba.
Even sent him to hell and back to hell and back forth will not atone his sin
Really should go watch a few of their series. A Silent Voice, Violet Evergarden, Hyouka or any others you can find. After that you will realize, even more so, just how massive a tragedy this event truly was. Both for the quality of the work destroyed and the integrity of the studio in their treatment of their employees. It really was a heartbreaking loss. =/
@@campkira why are you so determined to convince people that kyoani deserved it and that those people dying in a fire is not a bad thing?

A silent voice had me in tears. I had never watched many kyoani works until 2019 a week or 2 before the fire. On that terrible day i saw gigguk, the anime man and other big names talking about kyoani and my heart sank. They have done so much and are truly not only just a bunch of talented animators but also such a caring company. Thank you kyoani
It's weird because the days leading up before the attack, a lot of people including me were looking up season 2 of Kobayashi dragon maid.
It’s been confirmed
I'm still crying to this and it's been 2 years already sigh... I love Kyoani💙
"Broke down crying" The anime in the backround: I'm so happy! LOL for real do damn, its already been a year.
It’s been a year, but hearing this all over again puts me into tears.
its hard to think that half the people who made a kyoani anime is dead and that half of all the people in this video are dead.
it's good that the Diet decided to allow all this money to go to the families tax free, but it's even better to hear that Kyoto Animation is back in action. long may they stay active.

Time just flies by these days...Its crazy for real.
It was heartbreaking then, and its heartbreaking now, that in a sea of godawful companies in japan that treat their employees like expendable worthless pieces of meat, the one fucking studio that treated its employees with basic decency and respect ended up suffering such a horrifying tragedy.
What
I'm here once again, What can I say...
I love Kyoto Animation. I love them with all my heart and my heart still breaks whenever I remember what happened that day.
I'm glad for them. My hope goes out to their rebuilding.
Hope they kyoani can get back on their feet again i really miss their beautiful work.

respect for making this video,
I hope that kyoani will bounce back and bring more of the amazing and poignant anime that they never fail to deliver
I knew I was gonna get incredibly distraught if I read the details of the tragedy even further at that time so I avoided it
I still felt quite sad and mad regarding the incident
About a year ago, when I heard about the fire, I didn't pay too much attention to it. Eventually I started watching some anime, and the more I saw the sadder I felt about the accident. The effort those people put in every single frame, in every single scene was true passion and dedication. Today, looking back, I realized that those people at KioAni weren't just animators, but artists who told their stories by animating. What happend at KioAni is an awful experience, I am just glad people supported the victims of that tragedy
This is very depressing, even to this day.
It's already been a whole year but it doesn't hurt any less.
Time really flies. To all the victims and their families, I pray that they could find some peace. Thank you for sharing this with us bro.
I just suddenly teared up when Lit(A silent Voice) played🤧

Every single anime from them, changed me. I cried so hard on this. The “Sincerely” piano in the background. It’s been one year. They don’t deserve this. Thank you Koyani, so much. #prayForKoyani
This event is so depressing yet uplifting at the same time. So many people went above and beyond to help out, even people who seemingly have no reason to care.
Hope that this kind of event dont happen again ever, i hope everything will be okay for the future, and i actually cried watching this video, thanks for making this kind of information video, because before this video, i dont know anything about this tragic event

july 18 2020 is where miura san committed suicide. 😢
