How to Thread the Singer 6215C Sewing Machine and Troubleshooting Tips

- I recently picked up the Singer 6215C for a whole dollar at auction. This machine is from the early 1980s, but it's still sewing like a champ. In this video I'll show you how to wind the bobbin and thread the machine, plus I've added some troubleshooting tips for what to do when you have skipped stitches while zigzagging. I just thrifted this machine and was struggling with everything, so glad that you made such a detailed video (((: I'm now having issues in getting the machine to actually run (previous owner is very certain that it works) and I think it might be that it needs oiling - would you consider making a video on how to maintain this machine model?

Thanks for this video, I bought a very nice Singer 6215C at the Goodwill Outlet for $6.00. The foot pedal was included ( a near miracle ), but of course, no accessory box, just the general purpose zigzag foot screwed on. I do need to change the bobbin (thank you!) and adjust the tension. I love that the overcast stitch is included in the machine. I just subscribed. Your presentation in this video is very professional!!

@@CraftcoreDIY can you post a video on how you oil/grease this machine? Also, I dont have a manual, will buy one online, but do you know if the internal mechanism (not the needle and the bobbin parts) needs to be oiled/cleaned/greased?
You are a lifesaver! I bought this sewing machine from a kijiji seller with no manual, but a video is much easier to follow than a diagram. I only got one bobbin with the machine, so I followed your link to purchase more. There are two types that look very similar, one is part number 312956 and the other is the same number with -S after it. Can you tell me which one is for this machine? Thank you so much!

I have this machine, one super similar, as my second threading part is different, or maybe missing a piece 🤷♀️. But I cannot seem to get a nice regular stitch anymore..... any suggestions?
Also, is there an easy fix for the stitch length that will not change. I set to 5, but it is still giving me very short stiches

On the 4:49th second of the video, the button right next to the stitch selection panel showing two different kinds of zigzags (at the very right of the screen), is that used for buttonhole stitch balance? Troubleshooting trouble shooting question. I have the 6606 model which is almost the same. It worked fine for a few test patches but now I have a problem where the main spool thread is getting wrapped around the bobin.
Any solution?

Hey i have this Samba 5, and the size of the stitches feels much to short. The fifth size is small, and * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 * 0 are useless to use. I rather need larger stitches for certain types of sewing like heavy fabrics. ..do you know why it is like this, and if it is possible to adjust the setting somehow? Do you have the same problem?

Hello l don’t know if you will answer this but…l have this machine l rec’ d from a women at a yard sale but l noticed you use a metal bobbin when showing how to wined thread on the bobbin BUT you place a plastic in bobbin case to sew ?
Good morning! Yes I had multiple metal bobbins that were compatible and I didn't want to unwind the thread that was already on the plastic one. Purely a waste prevention method. 💜 Hope you are enjoying your new machine!

I am very very confused at the bobbin bottom part. I have a model (unsure which) that is completely identical on the bobbin bottom part. I had a hard time seeing what you were doing

Yes! You'll need the Husqvarna ones that are compatible with this series of sewing machine. Unfortunately it looks like both the clear and metal bobbins are out of stock right now. ☹️ I bought my bobbins for this machines from my local quilt shop, Ultimate Sewing Centre in Oshawa. Where can I change the speed of the needle? It’s too fast for me.
You should be able to control the speed if you press more lightly on the foot pedal.
