  • When the channel started, Old Soldier made a video of what he carried in his Go Bag. It's been almost two years, there have been a few changes and maybe filming quality has improved slightly. Old Soldier revisits the topic of what to carry in a bag for potential emergencies. #gobag #bob #bugoutbag

Great. I do my best to reduce weight by getting rid of packaging.
Also a bit more soap helps out in long term sits

Can't argue with that. Could lose a little weight by stripping down the MRE, which was a pretty common practice when I was in the military.

Black is the best color for a backpack. Outside of a sand desert.

Get a Replicator, Never Run Out Of Anything.

How can I argue with that?

Once was asked if I woke up on a Starfleet ship, what's the first thing I'd do? Look out the window. Then, go to the replicator and get the best knife and boots possible.

That's a really good answer to that question.

Nice video. Love it. I would argue there's a difference between Bug out bag and Go Bag. At least thats how I look at "prepping" for survival. I would say a Go bag is fairly temporary. Like you are trying to just make it to a safe place. I would consider a Bug Out Bag a pack you're trying to go survive for long periods of time away from people

My opinion (and its all that it is) no matter what you call it, your carrying items prepacked in a bag or ruck to survive and sustain yourself.

@Old Soldier yes in my view there's a difference between the two. I wouldn't keep my bug out bag in my car with me. I'd keep a go bag/get home bag with some essentials that if there was an emergency I could make it to a safe location like my home and if need be from there I would get my bug out bag and gear and leave if need be. Or if it would be too cumbersome or noticeable to grab a big pack I'd get my go bag and plan accordingly to get to another safer location hopefully. Basically I differentiate between the two as one is more temporary light weight for short term the other is packed for long term

Clear definition of what your dealing with and what tool your using to solve the problem is essential and it seems like you've done that. If pressed for a definition of mine, I'm still going to call it a go bag and use it as a hybrid to cover the two scenarios you describe.

Nice bag. Looking to downsize my get home bag, it looks more like a camping backpack. But at any given time, I could be a few days walk from home.

A good reason to have a bag to throw in your vehicle.

The commando saw weighs about half a pound. You said this was your bug-out bag....bugging out is very dangerous. The environment may be a disaster, rioters, e and e, all bad, all dangerous. Thanks for making the video.

I call it a gobag, some call it a bugout bag. It would take a lot for me to leave my home, such as chemical spill, flood, wild fire, but one never knows. I'd grab this bag if I had to leave quickly, but I do carry it in my vehicle on trips or when in remote areas.
