I also love walks. I believe they help me feel better for so many reasons but, one main reason is I am being mindful of everything on our walks . It starts me off so well.

I've more than a few mornings throw a bunch of English muffins with cheese in the oven and top with egg. 1 batch of eggs and throw everything in oven to melt and toast.
I've decided also to have them get snacks and water bottles set b4 they start the day. So it wont disrupt the day when its time to grab some fruit and water and find their reading chairs, just grab ur snack pack, water and book. My way of keeping them out of my kitchen for the day too. I'm eventually going to get a water cooler too because the excuse is always getting water but requires them to get cold water from fridge and they usually get into other things and stand with door open. So water cooler means no fridge req for a cool drink :)

Love your encouragement to prepare the night before. And to get dressed! We have slacked lately with getting ready (I blame the cold weather!), but I prefer for everyone to get dressed.

Meghan Shaffer it’s so easy to stay in PJs- but I learned a while ago that I don’t like looking at children in pjs - it makes me feel too casual- and this is our workplace so we get to create the atmosphere that helps us thrive too!

I'm looking at the RC... Robinson curriculum. So most of my day will be with primary children and my older kids will be self taught in the 3Rs. Mom still looks over math, helps with spelling and vocab, correct daily essays and reviews reading comprehension. But no prep needed except make sure materials are available. All other subjects are covered in reading 2 hrs a day. I'll be using 1 day of our week to track reading in timelines and do our nature studies. But the core week is just 3Rs. With Robinson the kids do 30 math problems to start and don't need mom to do that. There's no catch up.... 30 math problems or 2 hrs math, writing or copywork for 1 hr. Read for 2 hrs. U fit in spelling and vocabulary..... on grammar days u don't do writing. No catch up needed. Your morning routine we want to do as more after lunch tea time and Either can start or finish with music lessons and that would be end of school day.
We are currently in flex mode, lots of changes in our personal life. and we pray to have things set up for start of the year.

I'm so happy I've found your channel! I resonate with you so much so far. I have 4, and am so inconsistent and unconfident with my oldest two whi are school aged.

Be encouraged! As we spend the time to think, plan and study in our role as mother-teacher, we can find the areas that need our attention first and move on from there. There is so much to learn and God isn't finished with us yet!

Thank you, Joy. I love your morning walk idea. I think it would be nice for all of us, but it would help our youngest especially. I am newly subscribed and look forward to your other videos soon.

I am so inspired by YOU! I have an only child and struggle with meal and laundry routines which I know I need to get down as I start Kinder at home this year. Meant to put that on your kinder video. But with this one I am in awe how much you get done by noon. My girl always begs for a pj day until we got an outdoor cat. Now she gets up and gets dressed and is outside first thing to see kitty. So that is helping. I love how you shared the morning walk can HELP when we feel tired. I never feel rested and mid morning is hard. I have nodded off during read aloud time for real. Horryifying I know. I have Teaching from rest to read this week! Yikes. Lastly I am super curious about your confessions during morning time, I tried to pause and write it down but the 2nd one is cut off. Love your mama heart for God. Thanks for all the great learning.

Hello, we are a homeschool family and in the beginning, we did finish by lunch time. Now, my girls are (5,8) and I added some more things to the weekly rhythm. Such as circle time and worship time. They really enjoy it. Great video.

Girl I hear you about having an hour before the kids start waking up. I get up at 5 am with my hubby for coffee before he heads to work !!! We usually get most all core subjects done by noon. The rest is just fun work 😊 new to your channel 💞

Mercy, thanks for being here! I love your name🥰 I did another video about the "bad days" when things don't work out so well. We are just trying to make it work- however imperfectly.

Our morning walk really helps us like each other. We really only get them in 2-3 times per week. We even recently went when it was snowing and that was so great because it's rare here! I have been known to walk right after breakfast or even wait until later in the day if I see the forecast.

Fyi the Robinson curriculum was created by a man who was widowed with 6 kids. His oldest 12, youngest 1.5 years old. He had to work, run a farm and teach his children. Many moms with diff ages and especially small ones rave about it. Moms around in the school space and present but doesn't have to guide or teach or dictate every lesson except with primary age children. You can run the day and the house, manage everything u do and kids still learn. I have my own work and household chores too and it was so stressful thinking I have to do everything. The learning is in the books, not in me talking or coaching or doing for them but it's in books, they will learn to engage with the book instead of me dictating and giving answers.

It is a good idea if it works for your family. My mom tried to start the day with a “walk to school” with us and it was a hassle and we really didn’t like it, but that is the beauty of homeschooling

If you make scrambled eggs ahead of time, do you just microwave them in the morning?

What do the children do for the rest of the day?

    • @joycherrick
      @joycherrick  4 роки тому +5

Exactly! Play, spend time with grandparents, build, some work on their math, help with supper, chores, care for animals, LIVE a full life
