As someone who loves this game there is just one thing that just doesn't cut it for me, the base building, it feels so small, there is just so many unique and cool buildings around the map that i just wish they let us had multiple bases, hell let me built entire towns for all i care! that's one hell of a reason to make the hordes comme and one good reason to stock up on guns, the looting and building gameplay loop is amazing and i think it would be even better if it let us stop surviving and start triving
Praying and hoping for a better base building mechanic in State of Decay 3. Maybe it's too much to ask if they add something similar to Fallout 4's settlement building?
9:30 : "Feral don't scary anymore?" You should try Blood Feral at Lethal Mode. -Faster -tankier -deadlier and sometimes you get three of them! For Free!
Anything past Dread is a different type of game. You need to play like it's a stealth game or really know what you are doing with combat and use consumables or you will have a hard time having fun or thriving. Those Lethal feral packs can be scary! Dread ferals are not scary at all, even for newer players. You just need a quick headshot and even in melee they are not an issue if it's a 1v1 fight. They can be an issue if you are low on stamina and swarmed as a newer player though.
Plus the armored head on lethal makes them a nightmare to deal with without the gunslinger perk.. needing atleast three headshots on a running feral when they kill you just a quick has fucked up multiple runs for me
As a player of this game since day 1, it's funny hearing people talk about beloved mechanics that weren't around for a long time. I feel old remembering the hype and excitement when they added the wardrobe feature 😂
Now thinking about yeah when I first played the game when it came out because I preordered it I don’t remember no wardrobe feature but it was a while ago and I was like young when it came out
Bought 2 Day 1 of release because I was a huge fan of the first one. Played through 2 and it was the first game I was ever disappointed in for being bare and lacking. Fast forward to the past year and the game is up there. The heart and soul the devs put into SOD2 can never be understated. They turned a bare game into something fun, interesting and alive and that hard work cannot go under appreciated.
I actually really liked the story of SoD1 =( Most people disagree with me, but the aesthetic, the setting, and the storyline completely immersed me. It's very hard for me to get into unrealistic setting games, and everything felt right in the first one. The 2nd one was a graphical upgrade, Performance upgrade, and allowed for some creativity, but i miss the storyline of the first game, and really wished it continued better.
Sameee, the story and missions are simple, but the characters are incredibly memorable. The main 3, the church gang, the marshall court community, the Wilkersons. Something I've realized revisiting the first game is that a lot of the characters knew each other before the outbreak. Eli and Jacob, Lilly's dad and Ray, Tanner and Maya. It all contributes to the charm of the game. There's a care to the setting that I think is missing in the numerous maps in the second game. I wouldn't mind if the games remained small in scale and focused on the strengths of a small but close community in the face of the apocalypse.
Excellent video. I remember pre-ordering this game back in 2017 and having a good laugh with my friends at the time over some of the glitches we ran into. I always log back in a few times a year just to see if anything’s been added, and the devs never disappoint. The only gripe I ever had with it is that there are no true urban areas to explore like in Lifeline, but what is already there is amazing enough (especially with mods).
State of decay 2 is one of my favourite games of all time with over 1000 hours in it over the 8 years I've played the game. It is a testament to live service games being done right. The developers listened and improved the game and honestly it's better than most modern zombie games.
Fun fact: if you get the right set of radio transmissions it reveals that Lily fucking dies from some sort of disease that (allegedly) red talon could’ve helped cure but chose not to
I love this game, but cant we just fortify the base??? Like there are massive open spots for zombies to climb in, we are supposed to be trying to live in these places, not just surviving, should let us make a better base
Depending on the base I just put cars in front of areas they can get in and then I never have to worry about it. Doesn't fix the fortify idea, but stops zombies getting in.
God, the cars every 5 feet in state of decay 2 are there for only one reason. To get you wedged so you get hit by the freaks or horde you were trying to avoid.
When you play on lethal zone the ferals have head armor that require 3 headshots to remove and a 4th headshot to kill and sometimes travel in packs of 3
Only 2 things i dislike generally in SoD2 is bit smaller approach to basebuilding. And another is co-op. Stuff like distance "leash" and many others. Hopefully they talked about the "leash" distance increase/distance removal on some stream.
State of decay 1 was my favorite. Because the story was fantastic and I actually felt needed within the community. There was a certain goal to achieve and an objective to get to the military. State of decay 2 I feel like nothing but a goddamn errand boy.. everybody needs something and won't do anything except for the character I'm playing as. This person needs this this person needs that and once all of the blood plagues are gone...... People still need things as if there are still 15 blood plagues around. It's just a never-ending run of errands and no true story or ending.
The worst thing in the first game for me was sickness. The number of times I'd have someone with a cough for ages, and even after having an overabundance of medicine and multiple medical experts... At the drop of a hat, they are gravely I'll and die
My main enclave is filled with red talon members have some of the best guns in the game aswell as all have maxed out skills and it’s great I love this game so much
after making the perfect community with every necessary crafting trait, and having the trader role so supplies get delivered to me, i had no more reasons to play. joining others is all i do now
i played this game closer to when it first came out, and it really has changed a lot with updates. was closer to like 1.5 retrospectively. i liked it, but the first one is the game i come back to, its more plug and play. what i really want to see is a split screen co-op mode in the third game, if ever there was a game begging for it it's state of decay. ps if you drive to a parking space it will auto unload all your vehicle cargo
Adding split screen and better co-op would be amazing, I just hope that in the third one it isn't required to play with others to have a "fun" time with friends like other games
You got to play sod2 with almost six years of updates. I agree with the notion that blood plague and plague hearts are the best thing undead labs featured in the sequel. Lethal and plague territories took years to come in, but those two updates combined actually made sod2 harder than sod1 yose breakdown level 99. When i finally got the challenge I wanted, I was burnt out to the point sod2 made me physically ill. I also understand why people appreciate the first game: the story was alright, but it was the cast that made it. You could get close to the characters, making their deaths devastating. Sod2 have randomly generated characters. They have their own backstory and traits, but you don't get to experience who they are like the campaigns offered in sod1. To me, sod2 survivors are seen as their fifth skill (medic, construction, farmer, etc), easily replaceable. It's true: sod2 is mechanically superior. Inventory, trading, resource management, base morale, survivor morale, base building, base management, gun play, the list goes on. I can appreciate the continuous support undead labs have put in the sequel over the years. But... My problem with this is that some updates is literally taking from sod1. Heavy weapons are shoehorned in, compared to the fleshed out mechanic it used to be, or how the other fighting styles currently are. The Outpost update is more reminiscent of how they uses to be in sod1 with how they deal with zeds. The oddball update is pretty much the milestones changes featured in yose breakdown. The siege update takes from lifeline, showing you the threat level surrounding your base. Sod2 may be mechanically superior, but many additions are inspired by sod1. Why weren't these features added to begin with? One thing that felt cheep was the $50 price tag for the ultimate edition, and the additional $5 and $10 for daybreak and heartland. I would have no complaints if all dlc was included in the "ultimate" edition. What felt unfair was the $30 price tag for the juggernaut edition everone else got for originally passing up the game. Again, I'd have no complaints if undead labs made it where the updated game was on the next gen console, like how they did it prior with sod1. Sod2 is a good game. To some, sod2 is a great game. However, when it comes to sod1 fans like me, sod2 isn't the sequel we wanted. I had communication with an undead labs developer, they knew they missed the ball with some things, and i appreciate they can admit that. Maybe everything will come together in sod3, but because of the dissatisfaction of sod2, I'll stick with sod1. Thank you.
I was a huge supporter of the first game myself, had top rated reviews on gamestop and pushed it to plenty of people any time I had a chance. I ended up passing on the second game as it looked pretty mid at the time. I came back and tried the juggernaut edition a few years ago and did not have much fun with the game. It's only now that I'm really enjoying it, but it still feels far from perfect. I do agree that the characters and how they are generated is an issue with the game. They feel so lifeless tbh, voice acting is not so good for most characters and none of them feel unique. It seems in the next game they will have relationships and hopefully more personality to make them more interesting.
I still remember playing the game back in year 1 and it was eh my mate loved it, decided to give it a blast last year and now every once in a while I'll hop on my world play through and complete the legacy then repeat
Old video but for those new to the game. Tutorial mode isnt entirely useless, it gives you a starting weapon (weak) and a couple freebie supplies, but the crown jewel of tutorial mode that the game doesn't directly tell you is that you can farm the stamina stat here without fear of being interupted by zombies or fatigue. Takes minimum 10 minutes and you can have maxed stamina stats for your starting character which is very helpful in the start as stamina is the most important stat aside from health as you will be fighting alot when you dont have a decent gun right off the rip. Oh and your health and fatigue doesnt accur in tutorial mode so you can train as long as you want as timr stands still until you complete the tutorial.
I like SOD 2, even though it flipped the focus from a centered plot vs Breakdown sandbox. Though the DLC for Trumble valley hit the Plot and expanding story of the world really well. I'm excited to see what SOD 3 could be, I'd be really happy for them to give better Co-op with building a series of Survivors in a community to make things better. Though I've heard they were considering toning down the community aspects, but that was a rumor appx 4 years ago so I'm not sure if that's true.
I have about 160 hours in SoD2, I pre-ordered it after loving the original SoD on 360, as much as I do like it I still feel a lot is lacking in it and a lot is oddly balanced- on the harder difficulties especially now with the everchanging reworks they're doing you can quickly lock down a town using a few favours- be it from previous runs or DLC you've gotten/been given- I like the addition and idea behind the bounty guy but not the execution where its timed content to make it feel more live service-y, I like the idea of coop looting but in practice its just restrictive to force playes to stay close to each other which assuming your friends arent idiots trivialises combat (big if) and while I dont expect nor want procgen maps the layouts of SoD2's maps are very samey (similar town sizes, similar layouts, very little variance in building heights so zombies arent messing with staircases, even more "built up" areas like Marshall in trumble valley get destroyed vs SoD1 or are blocked up) and I think the other survivor enclaves and recurited survivor missions need more veriaty as most of the time you get the guys that make the blood plague cute, you get the moonshiners early, someone's aunt was a prepper that they remember after a few days, theres a raider faction a while away threatening you out of nowhere and everyone suddenly hates you if you cant do every single thing for them because you're busy saving their assess from blood plague- I can excuse repeated voice lines like "Oh you know, Stuff." from the first game more than I can having the Moonshiner's missions play out verbatum run after run after run in a game that is designed to encourage repeated playthroughs- even if Lily will now moan at you to up sticks for the "oh so amazing trumble valley!" I obviously get theres limitations in what can be realistically done and I do recognise the vast improvement made from launch but it feels like some of the important things that would encourage or even force veriaty between runs like restricting where bases could be made or encouraging new outpost placement isntead of the exact opposite where they now give big special outposts that you're pushed towards more. I do adore this franchise and hope 3 (if/when we ever hear any more about that) comes out it has built on the best bits of 1 and 2 (for me, the story and re-enforcing of areas form 1, the replayablity and ironically from what ive just moaned about- veriaty of 2) and make something that knocks the series into the stratosphere of zombie survival games
After going to SoD2 right after finishing first one (again), I got blown away by how much of an improvement it is. Sure, it does lack some things from first one, and the vibe is slightly different, but it's working so much better on technical, performance, controls and QoL aspects it's basically night and day.
Hey there! As i said in the last video i will be here for second state of decay video(this) and here we are!!! Just wanted to comment this before starting the video
Lethal zone is the darksouls of sandbox survival zombie games. Every freak has blood plague, it kills you absurdly fast, freaks deal tons of damage, not to mention, blood ferals are a little quieter and often you will stand before a pack of 3, than you know you re done for 💀
I love SoD 2 and have put way, way too many hours into it. This game just scratches that survival zombie itch I've had since 2012 like no other game can. I've been playing on Lethal basically since it's been added, though I think nightmare is the definitive way to play. The weirdest thing about this game is just how many mechanics have been added and tweaked since launch. A ton of what you mentioned wasn't added until 2021with the plague zone mechanic and 2022 with the awake/asleep plague hearts and infestation rework. Even the curve ball update in 2023 provided another massive change in the way you play the game with black plague hearts. It's a little dramatic to say, but it truly is such a different game from launch.
I didn't love State of Decay 2 as it came out, but I love it now. The devs have always put love into this series, they continued to add countless content to the sequel, honestly perfecting it. I love getting attached to these random characters. I'm hoping 3 upd the survival aspect a bit more, and I'm hoping zombie animals do show up as another new enemy.
Man I loved the first game but #2 never really grabbed me, it felt like I was playing the same exact game again, just improved in a few ways and walked back in several, like 8-10 years later. I really want to enjoy it as zombie survival games are my favorite, especially one where you get to build your own base and manage a community, sounds awesome! But everything feels so clunky. Like they are making a game with okay-ish graphics painted over a ps2 engine, it worked fantastic as an xbox arcade game but I guess I just expected a larger increase in quality when xbox bought them out (and I was spending $60 instead of $20). Overall I'm not saying there is no fun to be had here, I played a good amount of the single player and got through a few regions but every time I moved I always asked "why tf am I leaving this perfect base, gear and super skilled survivors behind just to move a county over and start again? Aren't I supposed to keep building and improving my base in a zombie apocalypse, at least until I get forced out for some reason?" Just make the zombies steadily increase and become tougher, make ammo scarcer, make a large bandit gang that slowly starts taking over your allied settlements and is raiding your base regularly. And all those ideas are just off the top. The lack of any REAL reason to be leaving for the next map outside of that place being "done" really throws me out of the game and makes it feel like all that work was essentially for nothing. Everything considered though that's a fairly minor complaint and the gameplay loop is decently fun if not quite a bit repetitive, but that brings me to maybe one of the worst compilations of game design decisions I've ever seen. CO-OP. My god, what the hell were they thinking with this one. Why make a world only one person is in control of? Why set such small boundaries on how far we can venture from our team? Why make it so only half of containers are lootable to your character and NEVER contain anything of interest to anyone but the server/community leader? I would have loved if they made it where I take control of a friends community member and we are both contributing to the well being of OUR base, not HIS. With the current implementation it makes any coop players feel as though they are unwanted guests, not crucial members of the community. I apologize for my rant but damn this has been pissing me off for a long time. Here's to hoping they don't make so many damning game decisions in the SoD3. anyone who would like to have a discussion about it all refutes are welcome :) TLDR: Me bitching about a 6 year old game XD
Tad late but I remember pre ordering state of decay 2 and when I got it, it was a mess the audio would disappear for little bit then a ear screeching noise would be made for like a minute or two then it would be fine course I don’t really remember how exactly it was when I preordered it Besides that one detail that’s all I remember from it
3 months overdue but I will say that the one reason why Ferals don't feel as lethal anymore is because they no longer have the Pounce and Bite attack they have in the first game that takes a huge chunk of your health away and also insta-kills if an NPC is at half health. That and the Blood Ferals exist.
It is THE Zombie game for me in a world flooded with zombie games. You can give me a hundred new The Last of Us titles and i ALWAYS would ask for State of Decay instead. It scratches all the itches i always wanted in a zombie game like this. You're neither the Doomslayer and can just withstand everything nor does it hold your hand constantly through the game. And dying is actual death, not a "Oopsie you died, haha! Just reload!" type of game. In terms of quality sure you can argue that the graphics isn't something to write home about nor is it as deep as a Project Zomboid. But god damn everything it does try to do it does great. Perfect even i dare say. Right at the top of my dome there are just two things that merely are things i hope to see with State of Decay 3 but they are nothing severe that ruin the game or kill the fun i am having with it all these years now since release. The two things? Multiplayer needs a lot of love to be better, especially the tethering just is plain annoying in todays times and that you can't create your own survivor. Now of course there is a good reason why that never was an issue. You are supposed to see random people so everything feels "new" at times. But to me i would feel so much better having at least one character that represents me. It doesn't have to be too deep either. I'm fine with random traits, but looks and name alone would already be a huge thing. The first 3 you can either make random or create by yourself, but from then on all other survivors joining are either (obviously) random or could even be survivors you did had a play through before or i dare to say could even be from a pool of other players. Like you could run into your friends personal created character somewhere doing a mission for him. Or random people you don't know from online play having their characters appear. You could even set them to be friendly, neutral or even aggressive to other players who encounter them. This would add a lot of depth to the characters you encounter.
Id definitely recommend any newer sod2 players to learn the game on dread or nightmare and then go into lethal. It by far brings in the most stress and that makes for more a more exciting experience (in being a survival horror game). It also makes ferals go from a minor inconvenience in other difficulties to the most feared thing ever as they have some armour on their head.
Honestly state of decay 3 needs to be a multiplatform game because if not I don’t think they’ll be making a fourth considering what Microsoft has been doing lately and I hate to say that
Maybe try the lethal zone difficulty, the feral have head armor that protects them from 3 shot to the head, encounter even 1 on them on the street will make you make wish you rather face the juggernaut instead. feral below lethal is just easy mode honestly.
SoD 2 was buggy but fun at launch. Had a blast with it but coop was a mess. Revisited it years and many patches later to find great new features and a more functional coop. Still have a good time firing it up. The devs did a lot post launch to make the game great
i been playing state of decay 2 since it released and i never knew that people hated the game on release day, 6 years later, 3 is in the works and state of decay 2 is far better than it was on release, it makes me sad that most zombie games don't even try with the survival aspect and just lean completely on the story while the stories of most of these games are good, State of Decay 1 included, State of decay is quite an underappreciated game franchise and that is because state of decay was always more focused on survival, and the story was more of an afterthough, and good thing it was. as someone who loves games of that kind because those games have unique ideas that don't get that much attention, and i hope, like i do with many other underrated games, the majority will soon find out how good state of decay truly was Also undead labs is better than most AAA developers these days, the only developers who won't shove microtransactions down your throat cause they are money hungry, or leave the game in a buggy, unplayable mess
@ 8:55 - perhaps this could have been funny or the evolution "Shit show into an even bigger shit show" Evolve it to "Shit show into a Diarrhea Trilogy" Hahahaha
Bruh you didnt play in lethal zone?? Ferals have blood plague and take 3 headshots. Not sure about the guy who said they take 4 shots bc its only 3 and they come in packs of 3 on around the 3rd or 4th "in game" day
2 things that made me dislike the series base building being so minimal and zombies spawning literally on top of you in the first one worse than the second
guys, the devs stance is that they "cant" do denser environments like towns or complex bases as its too "taxing" for games to run one dev is on record saying they chose "graphical fidelity" over density of towns in SoD2. the devs do not have any interest in providing what EVERYBODY is looking for
for when u said that the feral wasnt doing it you should try lethal the ferals in that usually r in packs of ferals like up to 4 and they r faster and tankier they take around 3 to 4 shots to the head to kill them
well yeah i played both game on PC cause i dont like consoles and want games to enjoy regardless of platform and exclusivity should stop existing the first problem with first game early was keybinds where if a feral grabbed you i pretty much could not get away so maybe they fixed that you are restricted to only one map the car driving was generic but the open areas felt empty the first game i remember function where you use a radio and call your switchable character to help loot whats left and i think its missing in the second one but from gameplay and replay value perspective the second one is better and good zombie game is rare these days from project zomboid to dying light i wonder what they gonna do with state of decay 3 cause i noticed the world dont have weather and night is not dark enough in a dynamic way and if you make a noise while searching the zombies spawn even if the area was empty few seconds before but not always the hoard was updated cause then they start siege it was pretty random and if there was a juggernout the cheesy way to prevent that is to go to main menu and reload a game same is juggernout is roaming near your base since in higher difficulty they are bullet sponges the curve ball is probably their best update cause state of decay world must be unpredictable and dynamic they should introduce roaming bandit cause all multiplayer survival game basically have one despite the flaws and microsoft janky UI i got it on discount and for me its just a decent game i want to see state of decay 3 gameplay first before knowing how much they will improve this time
I absolutely hate ferals in this game, especially in nightmare/lethal cus there are lots of them that travel in packs of three. The worst was when i ran into a group of 2 juggernauts 8 zombies and there were 3 ferals and 2 bloaters 10m away from them. My character did not make it out alive
Imo Dread difficulty is the minimum you should play. The risk of dying is what makes the game fun and that is nearly impossible in standard or green zone.
I love the original however its like playing on hardcore and the companions would get themselves killed or you killed trying to defend them State of decay 2 improved alot from that I really miss the old characters from the original i wish they were in the gane but hey at least theres lily and santos though im upset for what happens to santos later
Just to let you know in State of Decay 1 you can park in the parking spot of your base and it will automatically take out the main supplies automatically but other than that this video is really good
Yeah for some reason SOD1 just feels different. I remember playing it for the first time, I could not get enough of it. Now with SOD2 and Soon 3. I feel like meh.
I fell in love with SoD1 so my expectations for the sequel were high. What bothers me the most is lack of character and story depth. The characters never feel like real human beings. Just a bunch of skill sets. I can hardly remember their names. Also the base building system needs to give us more freedom. Feels too limited.
I wish I could customize my characters in how they physically look but yeah this game is still great. Having a black plague heart on day 4 on my very first playthrough ever was rather startling for sure.
Alright,im gonna my opinion on this comment section as holy shit this is a warzone. I always thought second was just better, but turns out,a lot of people like state of decay 1, which is fair enough,i did play it but i tried to play both the regular and breakdown modes, but both modes don't feel like im doing anything. Like,in the story mode the beginning is ok,but there's not much point to improve the base as facilities don't do anything, not much point to recruit survivors as they don't do anything, i felt like i was just driving from mission to mission, having no idea what the point of it was. State of decay 2 actually rewards you for stuff, playing the game. That's about it. Still a driving sim but most games are that let's be honest. I can understand why ppl don't like the second game or prefer the first, but the guy who said there's no purpose needs his fucking skull cracked in. Before you fight with ME, EVERYONE HERE IS SAYING DIFFERENT SHIT. I SEE PPL COMPLAINING THIS GAME HAD NOTHING AT LAUNCH THEN THERE'S ONE THAT SAYS THE EXTRA SHIT IS UNNECESSARY. I SEE PPL SAYING STATE OF DECAY 2 IS SHALLOW. IF YOU WANT SOMEONE TO ARGUE WITH SCROLL DOWN A BIT I CAN GUARANTEE SOMEONE DISAGREES WITH YOU. Literally ghe most comically divided comment section in the whole world lmao. also why the fuck did one guy give the reason the games bad is that characters don't hold their guns, like deal breakers aren't the game being bad, they're you not being able to deal with one thing
While I enjoy both games I think they need more stuff to do in them or more expansive things to do. Could only truly play through both games once and never touched the dlc's at all even with owning them. Just gets a bit boring after a bit as it feels like your community forces you to do everything nearly and with how fairly bare bones the base building is other zombie games just do it better by allowing more freedom.
Real ones know SoD1 is the better game. I'll never forget the 1st time I played the demo on my 360 out of sheer boredom and I love everything zombie so, why not??.... I purchased the game for less than £5 a couple hours later and all its dlcs later down the road. Sure, SoD2 is the one I play more due to upgraded everything, but I play it to waste a couple of hours, not because I Want to play it. It's just a good zombie survival sandbox.. Nothing more. It was more than just the story in SoD1, it was the characters you built true relationships with: Marcus, Maya, Ed, Sgt Tan, Dr Hanson, Sam, Alan, Pastor Will, the group with Becka who need help to build a watchtower, losing the cool cop at the seige of the courthouse, losing 2 important members if you let Pastor Will turn by taking Alan out of the house, the Wilkersons and their bullying of other communities who then turned to us to help them, Finally getting across the bridge to the Fairground, destroying the wall only to reveal to the group that their job is far from over... Losing any one of those characters to permadeath was a gut punch to the stomach. In SoD2, I can always replace my medic, carpenter, computer geek etc with another nameless forgetful face.
Can't agree on that. I wanted the game to be more sandbox survival instead of straight story and that's it. I don't even know a single thing i miss from the first title. Everything feels better. If you miss the story itself, they made a DLC for that. Graphics? Sure it feels like they didn't do all too much with the second part, but if you actually sit down and get into detail they did upgrade the graphics.
this video sent me on a witch hunt into the Steam Charts to see where SOD2 sits. At first glance, an average 30 day player base of 2,500 players per day initially sounds a bit lackluster....until you realize it's immediately after Fallout: New Vegas, a couple spots below Total War: Warhammer, a handful below GTA IV, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Metro Exodus, and most hilarious, Dragonball Z Sparking Zero. Which more than anything goes to show how much of the DBZ hype was all just paid influencer bullshit and the game is essentially a failure within it's first 3 months, barely beating out games that are 7-20 years old. ...boy, that took a weird turn.
People pissing SOD2 mainly they can't move on the new games. Just like assassin's Creed Community, COD, BF, SIMS. Oh older game is better. To me sure it was GREAT at that time. It just if I play SOD1 now? Ugh no. I remember people calling SOD1 was shit back then. Because of the Runsack cannot store inside the Car. We used to drop it on the cab and sloowly bring it home. It was until YOSE if I am not wrong Dev added the features. SOD1 was fun back then. But now nah. Just like us playing COD4 or Sims 2, or BF 4. We all got great memory. And those time gaming experience was peak. With all new games and features coming. Now we got so many choices.
The reminder over and over and over again to move to travel to Trumble Valley is so annoying. I wish there was a way to turn off the constant reminder.
Same!!!! I want that but with more recruits/characters, make it 20 or 30 cause i want more!!!
The bases and outposts generate resources, so you have to play the game less. It makes no sense.
Praying and hoping for a better base building mechanic in State of Decay 3.
Maybe it's too much to ask if they add something similar to Fallout 4's settlement building?
a construction system similar to the forest or grounded would be great.
@@romanbellic9580 People crap all over it, but I thought it was good and interesting.
9:30 : "Feral don't scary anymore?"
You should try Blood Feral at Lethal Mode.
-Faster
-tankier
-deadlier
and sometimes you get three of them!
I couldn't have been the only one in SoD1 who would run at the ferals, dodge, then execute them? Was my main go to for ferals in that game.
I wish the ferals were plague infected on nightmare. I love the harder difficulties but lethal is so stressful for me lol
Now thinking about yeah when I first played the game when it came out because I preordered it I don’t remember no wardrobe feature but it was a while ago and I was like young when it came out
State of Decay 2 was a mess on launch lmao.
I remember keeping certain survivors disregarding their shitty traits, only because the word ninja hoodies, specially skeleton hoodies lol
Both state of decay's are good games in there own separate ways.
Truly a under appreciated game series.
im thinking about getting 2 again on steam to enjoy it but im waiting for state of decay 3=
what about days gone?
@@derederekat9051 days gone is a completly different proposal he's more a narrative/action zombie game
I wish you could still barricade windows, I remember clearing and boarding up every damn building I entered in SoD 1
Yeah I want to physically fortify outposts again. Not just traps.
I actually really liked the story of SoD1 =(
Most people disagree with me, but the aesthetic, the setting, and the storyline completely immersed me. It's very hard for me to get into unrealistic setting games, and everything felt right in the first one.
The 2nd one was a graphical upgrade, Performance upgrade, and allowed for some creativity, but i miss the storyline of the first game, and really wished it continued better.
same, state of decay 2 is better in almost every way but there being no story just makes me not wanna play it
@@Frukis The only story that's any sort of interesting is the one told through the Red Talon/Network/"Osiris" storyline.
Fun fact: if you get the right set of radio transmissions it reveals that Lily fucking dies from some sort of disease that (allegedly) red talon could’ve helped cure but chose not to
Nah, she still there. Ray is the goner since he have cancer and cant help anymore
Great video man, very high quality, the sort of stuff you'd expect from a big channel.
Here's to 44k!
Or clearing out crap in the way on the roads. Unless it is a train. Relatively easy to do.
God, the cars every 5 feet in state of decay 2 are there for only one reason. To get you wedged so you get hit by the freaks or horde you were trying to avoid.
The editing of this video deserves a chef kiss
Little pig little pig let me in
Not on the hairs of my chin chin chin
When you play on lethal zone the ferals have head armor that require 3 headshots to remove and a 4th headshot to kill and sometimes travel in packs of 3
PACKS OF THREE
Also, humans can oneshot you, and in turn, can also survive headshots
@@calaisclark9044yeah don't get attached to your characters on lethal zone
Only 2 things i dislike generally in SoD2 is bit smaller approach to basebuilding. And another is co-op. Stuff like distance "leash" and many others. Hopefully they talked about the "leash" distance increase/distance removal on some stream.
2:46 Holy shit I was not expecting Sgt. Johnson to appear with his Halo 3 line. Made me spit out my drink, good video!
"Ferals are weak!"
Someone hasn't played lethal zone yet... 😈
😂😂 You're right about the "goddamn errand boy"
The worst thing in the first game for me was sickness. The number of times I'd have someone with a cough for ages, and even after having an overabundance of medicine and multiple medical experts... At the drop of a hat, they are gravely I'll and die
My main enclave is filled with red talon members have some of the best guns in the game aswell as all have maxed out skills and it’s great I love this game so much
I've been waiting for this video after seeing how you talked about SoD yippeeee
after making the perfect community with every necessary crafting trait, and having the trader role so supplies get delivered to me, i had no more reasons to play. joining others is all i do now
Try playing without boons, legacies or red talon. RESTRICT YOURSELF
you have really good commentary man, keep getting videos out and you'll get big
i played this game closer to when it first came out, and it really has changed a lot with updates. was closer to like 1.5 retrospectively. i liked it, but the first one is the game i come back to, its more plug and play. what i really want to see is a split screen co-op mode in the third game, if ever there was a game begging for it it's state of decay. ps if you drive to a parking space it will auto unload all your vehicle cargo
Adding split screen and better co-op would be amazing, I just hope that in the third one it isn't required to play with others to have a "fun" time with friends like other games
Split screen co-op mode is dying. And it really fucking sucks that less and less games are adding it.
7:17, you could do this in the first game. Only with supplies, however .
Ferals gain a kind of shell on the head that absorb a couple more of bullets in higher difficulties, also they come in packs
One of my favourite games (liked the first, love the second)! I’m replaying it again now. Can’t wait for the 3rd.
Builders by far the most beneficial boon (for lethal difficulty at least)
After going to SoD2 right after finishing first one (again), I got blown away by how much of an improvement it is. Sure, it does lack some things from first one, and the vibe is slightly different, but it's working so much better on technical, performance, controls and QoL aspects it's basically night and day.
That black ops edit😂
Here's to hoping they don't make so many damning game decisions in the SoD3.
anyone who would like to have a discussion about it all refutes are welcome :)
TLDR: Me bitching about a 6 year old game XD
The team also stepped it up with the updates, they changed a lot of things and overall it's way better than at launch
Very good video of State of Decay 2 thanks man. Awesome game, i love it 10:37
Lily: “YOU CAN’T KILL ME!”
Tad late but I remember pre ordering state of decay 2 and when I got it, it was a mess the audio would disappear for little bit then a ear screeching noise would be made for like a minute or two then it would be fine course I don’t really remember how exactly it was when I preordered it Besides that one detail that’s all I remember from it
Both games are amazing and deserve better. ❤
I can not wait for the third game dude... I want it yesterday! Same for stalker 2... Those are the only games I am waiting for right now!
I would like to see each group actually do something in the base or that you encounter them on the map the just standing there
still playing this to this day. coop is great and shares progress well.
i came for the review, stayed for the meme edits
I love how I basically have a female Negan and saviors
Ferals on lethal are the scariest thing ever
Wait until you play on Lethal. The ferals there have armoured heads, and often come in packs of three. They're only weak on easier difficulties.
The devs did a lot post launch to make the game great
I luv state of decay 2, definitely a big upgrade from 1. Only thing is that the story was def a bit lacking in SD2 than in SD1
i been playing state of decay 2 since it released and i never knew that people hated the game on release day, 6 years later, 3 is in the works and state of decay 2 is far better than it was on release, it makes me sad that most zombie games don't even try with the survival aspect and just lean completely on the story while the stories of most of these games are good, State of Decay 1 included, State of decay is quite an underappreciated game franchise and that is because state of decay was always more focused on survival, and the story was more of an afterthough, and good thing it was. as someone who loves games of that kind because those games have unique ideas that don't get that much attention, and i hope, like i do with many other underrated games, the majority will soon find out how good state of decay truly was
Also undead labs is better than most AAA developers these days, the only developers who won't shove microtransactions down your throat cause they are money hungry, or leave the game in a buggy, unplayable mess
@ 8:55 - perhaps this could have been funny or the evolution
"Shit show into an even bigger shit show"
Evolve it to
"Shit show into a Diarrhea Trilogy"
Hahahaha
Man you need to revisit this game on lethal and then take back what you said about Feral’s
Bruh you didnt play in lethal zone?? Ferals have blood plague and take 3 headshots. Not sure about the guy who said they take 4 shots bc its only 3 and they come in packs of 3 on around the 3rd or 4th "in game" day
2 things that made me dislike the series base building being so minimal and zombies spawning literally on top of you in the first one worse than the second
guys, the devs stance is that they "cant" do denser environments like towns or complex bases as its too "taxing" for games to run
one dev is on record saying they chose "graphical fidelity" over density of towns in SoD2.
the devs do not have any interest in providing what EVERYBODY is looking for
My only problem with this sequel is they got rid of Boarding up windows to slow down zombies
for when u said that the feral wasnt doing it you should try lethal the ferals in that usually r in packs of ferals like up to 4 and they r faster and tankier they take around 3 to 4 shots to the head to kill them
well yeah i played both game on PC cause i dont like consoles and want games to enjoy regardless of platform and exclusivity should stop existing
the first problem with first game early was keybinds where if a feral grabbed you i pretty much could not get away so maybe they fixed that
you are restricted to only one map
the car driving was generic but the open areas felt empty
the first game i remember function where you use a radio and call your switchable character to help loot whats left
and i think its missing in the second one
but from gameplay and replay value perspective the second one is better
and good zombie game is rare these days
from project zomboid to dying light
i wonder what they gonna do with state of decay 3 cause i noticed the world dont have weather and night is not dark enough in a dynamic way
and if you make a noise while searching the zombies spawn even if the area was empty few seconds before but not always
the hoard was updated cause then they start siege it was pretty random and if there was a juggernout the cheesy way to prevent that is to go to main menu and reload a game
same is juggernout is roaming near your base since in higher difficulty they are bullet sponges
the curve ball is probably their best update cause state of decay world must be unpredictable and dynamic
they should introduce roaming bandit cause all multiplayer survival game basically have one
despite the flaws and microsoft janky UI i got it on discount and for me its just a decent game
i want to see state of decay 3 gameplay first before knowing how much they will improve this time
All I want is to have more than 1 follower when scavenging,
A 4 man squad would be perfect
Great video!
you were 1 to two sliders away from experiencing true dread, ferals are still a pain in the kisser bro ain't shit changed 💀
I love the original however its like playing on hardcore and the companions would get themselves killed or you killed trying to defend them
State of decay 2 improved alot from that I really miss the old characters from the original i wish they were in the gane but hey at least theres lily and santos though im upset for what happens to santos later
Blud never seen a blood feral on lethal
Just to let you know in State of Decay 1 you can park in the parking spot of your base and it will automatically take out the main supplies automatically but other than that this video is really good
Yeah for some reason SOD1 just feels different. I remember playing it for the first time, I could not get enough of it. Now with SOD2 and Soon 3. I feel like meh.
Red Mist you say?
I fell in love with SoD1 so my expectations for the sequel were high.
What bothers me the most is lack of character and story depth. The characters never feel like real human beings. Just a bunch of skill sets. I can hardly remember their names.
Also the base building system needs to give us more freedom. Feels too limited.
I wish I could customize my characters in how they physically look but yeah this game is still great.
Having a black plague heart on day 4 on my very first playthrough ever was rather startling for sure.
7:37 lmao
This game made me realise I can't stand having to take care of other people
This one was the best one to me!
Great game, not the most fleshed out game ever but super enjoyable, #3 has mega potential
that ending tho lol
Graphics? Sure it feels like they didn't do all too much with the second part, but if you actually sit down and get into detail they did upgrade the graphics.
nah real ones know both games are equally good

I love sod2 but it just doesn’t have the dark and gritty atmosphere the first had if feels very cartoonish
this video sent me on a witch hunt into the Steam Charts to see where SOD2 sits.
Bro 😎 both of the games are good but the second one was a good sequel but it may be harder but its way less repetitive
Now we got so many choices.
most of the footage being on low dificulty and calling ferals "easier" + using the front of the car to kill zombies hurts
State of Decay 2 lets you drive thru fences. What more is there to say?
The reminder over and over and over again to move to travel to Trumble Valley is so annoying. I wish there was a way to turn off the constant reminder.
You would love project zomboid
I do
State of Decay 2 is fun only on the lethal difficulty, imho
As someone who played this at launch, it was very bad
But they improved it so much over the years
