I am not a monarchist, but Her Majesty's death devastated me. She had been, for the whole of my life, a rock upon which the United Kingdom was built. I was on the phone with my friend when the announcement popped up on the screen. We both cried. We had just been discussing how we feared the announcement was due. Her life was an example to all. We will not see her like again. Thank you for uploading this video. I was griefstricken at the time, and, in truth, am tearful now, and so I did not see, or did not take in much of these events.
most of our Monarchs speeches are not written by them, the christmas message is and our late Queen had the help of her private secretary with the covid speech, it's not known what he suggested and she only made a handful of speeches to the nation besides her christmas speeches
The monarch does not swear any oath to Parliament. If he is going to take an oath, it would have been done in Westminster Hall. The oath is taken to keep the faith, and the UK does not have a constitution.
I recall Her Late Majesty’s State Visit to my native Republic of Ireland, for which she pushed Cabinet for the Visit to go ahead (Lord Cameron was PM at the time) and watching the footage from here in the U.K. where I have extended family in Rural Ireland, it made me so proud to be Irish - the fact that despite Lord Mountbatten’s murder in Co. Sligo and the late Princess Diana’s family’s Irish connections that enabled her deeply moving speech in Dublin Castle and how she was so warmly received all over Ireland by the Irish people was simply wonderful, especially her visit to the Rock of Cashel in Co. Tipperary and the English Market in Cork City - when she passed, my home Catholic Parish in Rural Ireland celebrated a special Mass for her that I got to see on Webcam from here in the U.K. 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪😍🙏
Our late Queen would not have pushed for any state visit to go ahead, she knew her role and that it was not her place to interfere and during her reign she never put a foot wrong and Lord Mountbatten's murder and Diana's connections did not come into anything state speeches are not written by Monarchs, state visits are decided foreign office, who arrange everything with the other country and Monarchs no say they work for our country
Them talking about the line to walk past the Queen's coffin reminds me of when President Reagan died. My grandparents knew him so he was always very highly respected in our home. When he was lying in state in the Capitol Rotunda, we decided to go pay our respects on behalf of my grandfather who had died a few years prior. That line we were in, we joined right at sunset and were there through sunrise. All night long, in the summer heat and humidity, for a few seconds to pay respects. Worth every moment. I can't even imagine how much more intense it would've been for the Queen's subjects to do that for her given the length of her reign and her presence in British life.

This documentary is available on UA-cam in another form. The thing I don’t understand is the comment that the news of the Queen being under medical supervision ‘did not sit well with the nation’. It’s a ridiculous comment because the news was simply what it was, no hysterics, no fuss, and I think we all knew what was coming. The remark saying ‘the Queen is dead, long live the King’ is ridiculous as well because right from the time of the Queen’s death no one actually said that, no one at all. The documentary might be better without the over the top language and the misquotation.
The last remnant of the Empire. Like Victoria presided over the rise of the empire, she presided over the demise. She seemed to do that with grace and dignity, almost always scrupulously abiding an unwritten constitution if we can believe politicians. Like Victoria had troubles with her children, especially with Berthy, she had trouble with her children. I think it’s now time to make Prince William “William the Last”.

He’s already doing it. Nearly three years.
Yet again, "bad men with bad principles" to quote the late Denis Thatcher ...
The monarch does not swear any oath to Parliament. If he is going to take an oath, it would have been done in Westminster Hall. The oath is taken to keep the faith, and the UK does not have a constitution.
It doesn't have a _written_ constitution, but it has a constitution nonetheless.
Our late Queen would not have pushed for any state visit to go ahead, she knew her role and that it was not her place to interfere and during her reign she never put a foot wrong
and Lord Mountbatten's murder and Diana's connections did not come into anything
state speeches are not written by Monarchs, state visits are decided foreign office, who arrange everything with the other country and Monarchs no say
they work for our country
@@lsmith9249: “[S]he never put a foot wrong” - what imbecilic fairyland are you living in?!
I’m so proud of our fabulous and dutiful royal family
The country is not the same now she gone
As an American, I too loved Her Majesty.

Not at all ridiculous, it's the way its been done for hundreds of years. Traditional, the way the queen wanted it done
,,EXILED".
,,MÖNGÖ".
She brought people together unlike the evil cow whose only intent was to divide. I miss her so.
I know whom you are implying, but it is not really her fault.
Yes, Queen Victoria accused her eldest son - who was named for his father - of being indirectly culpable for his father’s early death.

I can't think why the BBC's coverage of the announcement of the Queen's death has been edited out!
