Alright take his snake out of your mouth, geez. This man is an absolute genius! The Congo will be producing their own hyper car any day now and I also made sure that my daughter marries one to prove I'm not the R word. Just take it down a notch Steve.
Jay, you need to bring this guy back whenever you can. The chemistry between you is wonderful, and made this one of my all time favorites on this channel. Of course, the fact that this car is one of the most beautiful you've ever had on here doesn't hurt.
Donald, complimenti for your italian pronunciation, it's a pleasure to hear someone with so much respect and knowledge of italian cars. Cheers from italy.
I really hope Donald Osborne comes back. He's a real treat. The amount of knowledge he has is amazing. Love the car talk between two car guys. I also like this car!
Thank you for remind me, as italian, the great history of the most underrated company in italy. Lancias were built for true petrolheads. That Fulvia zagato is gorgeous.
@sickmrtrick - Not everyone who watches Jay Leno's Garage, have necessarily heard of Donald Osbourne. I come from Denmark, and I don't really know who he is, expect he's been visiting Jay more than once.
See, this is what I really like about the Jay Leno garage. He's always showing the obscure (to us) and unique vehicles that I might not ever get the chance to see. Even though I might run into one at a car show, I don't get the history, or the time to really learn about them. This show is great...
love this guy, the passion he shows and the knowledge he has is very impressive. Love to hang out and talk with him about cars for an afternoon or two.
I love Donald Osborne on "What's My Car Worth". He provides a wealth of information on this beautiful car and it's one of the few times a guest is able to keep Jay quiet.
After watching this ... I think I'm a Lancia fan. That is one cool looking car. Very 60's European styling. And I like the fact that the engineering is top notch. I want one!
Yeah,to run the Catering for Clarkson that he don't get fired for a non-existent Steak, serious Antonio a Bloke from " Muerica " ain't nuffin for a European Super-Car-Show, ( even if Matt Le`Blance today is slightly better and nicer than Chris Evans),they got no Clue them Septics ( Tank/Yank ) and just the Accent and the Way they say Aluminium,Rubbish, complete bad Idea this, like the Pope hosting Tutti-Frutty....
First thing I thought too.... I quite enjoyed his commentary, enthusiasm and personality. You can tell this guy is a bonified car nut. Personally I'd rather watch him any day as I only come to this channel for the cars and certainly not Leno.....
Or just Donald. He actually knows what he's talking about. Leno: "Those are obviously the stock wheels". Donald: "Uh, these are not the stock wheels". Leno regarding the hood scoop: "OK, so that's pulling air in rather than pulling hot air out of the engine" Huh? LMAO. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy and appreciate all the time, effort and money that goes into these free videos that Jay produces but he talks out of his ass half the time, just to hear himself speak. Jay needs to listen to his guests, rather than pretend to be an authority on everything.
yakadee1 If Jay owned one, he'd be an expert on it for sure, and it's nice to see him let someone else share their expertise about an automobile. There's no expert like a passionate owner.
Finally a guest who pronounces Lancia "Lawncha" the Italian way! I've always liked these cars especially when they were new. I prefer the European headlights that this lovely American spec example isn't equipped with.
I agree. The sealed beam quad lights (and maybe the brake lights) are the only thing on the exterior that date this car. The side and rear views look like it could be decades newer than its actual vintage.
Found this segment on Lancia immensely enjoyable and interesting. Great talent Donald Osborne as well. One of the best episodes for mine in the Jay Leno's Garage series.
I really enjoyed this one. The owner is very knowledgeable, and a true enthusiast. Back in the early seventies, there was a Lancia dealer in the city I lived in. Unfortunately he went out of business. He also sold Honda S600 sport cars. The Datsun dealer I worked for bought up his supply of Honda parts and for a while we serviced the Honda sports car customers.
Finally a comment section (in car's video) where i don't see Muscle/JDM/Euro fanboys shouting at each other angrily how that car would totally dust that one and bla bla bla. Sorry kids cars aren't all about numbers and winning drag races or getting the best time at the Ring. Sure there is that part too, but that's just scratching the surface. True car enthusiasts will get what i mean. Beatiful car as always on this channel!
I have also fallen in love with this car, and this is the best and only video of such a car. I really do want one, like right now. It wouldn't be a logical decision but this little Lancia Fulvia is becomes attractive to me the more I look at it and listen to that glorious V4. All these videos of old cars on Leno's Garage and Petrolicious channel are bringing me closer to boycotting all modern cars and just buying old, pure, mechanical cars in good restored condition.
My dad has one of these, a 1968 series 1 Fulvia Zagato in dark blue, bought about 4 years ago in italy where it was last on the road in 1986 (the year I was born) and until then resided in a barn with other rare classics including, strangely, a 50's ford thunderbird. The car was then taken home to England where it was completely restored by my dad and a top Lancia specialist at vast expense with the kind of results that justified the work and cost. While in the UK it was one of only 7 registered on the road in the country, the car now lives with my dad in southern france to where he retired, leaving the pair of them free for high speed blasts through the french country lanes to the old boulangerie for a baguette! Lucky bugger...
i can listen to donald all day long.his enthusiasm is fantastic.i love it when people like him are so into something & love to share their excitement & knowledge with others!great episode jay!!
A wonderful car in every way, I am envious. The owner is a man of discernment, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his car. This car represents the peak of automotive engineering and quality that 'normal" people might buy. We will never see it's like again.
I am with Jay on this one. The more I look at the car, the more I like it. Really attractive, you get a nice boxy front end and a curvy rear and they work together. BOLD. Amazing how expensive this car was when new. XKE or this? Are you nuts?
Thank you Jay, growing up in Italy this was one of my favorite cars. Too bad they are so rare nowadays. Although, if you want to do FWD Lancia's the little HF rally car, red with flat black hood is really my absolute dream car. If only Lancia made it RWD that would have been the perfect car for me, but I'll take the FWD anyway. Thank you to the gentleman that let you drive it: Donald, I hope one day I'll be able to meet you just so I can sit in this car and relive my younger years. Thank you.
Jay!!! Please pay attention to Mr. Osborne! Lancia is pronounced "Lancha". In Italian the "c" is pronounced like a "ch". Congratulations, what a great episode. This guy he really knows his stuff. I am currently restoring a 1982 Alfasud Ti 1.5. As soon as I finish restoring it I'll send you some pictures.
Thanks a lot. It's going to be a tough job but it's worth it. Magnificent cars, superb performance but unfortunately rust is their Achilles' tendon. Due to constant strikes during production time, the bodies were left outdoors and weren't protected. Checkout Wheeler Dealers here in UA-cam. They have an episode on the Alfasud. Well I hope that once I finish my project, Jay invites me to his show. I love how he manages to inject humor to the show in a very classy way. No tasteless jokes and foul language whatsoever. Cuore sportivo!
@M.r. Moon since it is an Italian name, there is a correct way to pronunciate the word and it is Lancha. If not, we, as Italian people, will start to pronunciate differently every English word ;)
Love this auto, it has great lines and is just so classy. Plus, what a great episode with such a great automobile mind, Donald Osborne. He is such a great speaker and is so knowledgeable about most all cars, not just this one. I wish he still was on the TV show "What's my Car Worth?". He was really great on that show and was on it for several years/seasons. Great car! Even greater engine, a V4... Just love it!
I passed over this video when it was released because I wasnt familiar with the brand, and the thumbnail picture didnt float my boat, but now that Ive watched it and see the car from different angles, my god that thing is sexy! The more I look at it the better it gets. But what i like as much as the cars are the stories that acompany them. Without the stories theyre just transportation devices IMO.
yeah, for me the headlights and grill look cheap and clumsy and the rest looks great. However, interesting to note that they were just added to pass U.S. laws and therefore not part of the original idea.
I was pretty much the same way. At first, it wasn't a car that I *had* to see the video of, but I decided to finally watch it. Glad I did. The more I watched, the more I liked the car. Beautiful style, quite elegant for a small car. Yes, not all cars need to accelerate to 60 in 3 seconds. I'd love some time behind the wheel of this along a nice two-lane twisty...
I have this model as a toy car, from Corgi-Toys, when I was 10 y/old. It was blue metallic and it was my most beautiful piece. Actually I think I still have it in my stock. I love to hear it was a very well build car.
Jay makes the same Chrysler chicken bone turn signal joke at 24:05 that he made 7 years later in his Feb 2021 review of a Pontiac WS6 Trans Am.😁 UA-cam realized it & recommended this video to me after watching the other one.
Very impressed by the knowledge of the owner, my uncle owns a 89' Delta and he would get fresh facts about Lancia off this video. Lancia is such a fascinating marque. What a channel!
Great looking example of the Fulvia Sport Zagato. I had a Fulvia Coupe 1.3S, 1974 model. Bought it in 76 for about 1,700 GBP and so far it is still my favorite car. Fun to drive, reasonably reliable and easy to fix. Unfortunately, I sold it in 79, when I moved to the USA :(
How could I have missed this episode?!?!?! This Lancia is an AMAZING work of engineering art. When cars were built to make a statement...and women were "human". Regards, Ben
What a beautifully sculpted and engineered car! This brought back memories of my father who owned a Lancia in the early 60's. I cannot remember the model he had but it was a really cool and unique car. After watching this I'm kicking myself for not quizzing him more about his Lancia when he was alive. Thanks Jay for posting this. Your channel is awesome and Donald Osborne is a treasure!
So good to hear two real enthusiasts talking about a really lovely little car, which was so advanced for it's time. Must confess, I'm a little biased, as I had a 1974 Fulvia coupe, which was a joy to drive - great brakes, great handling and a lovely, "raspy" exhaust note. Even after all these years...I still miss it !! Great video, thank you.
Those two are hilarious together. I’ve been following Donald ever since I first saw this. He is such a charming and kind and intelligent snob. Gotta love em both!
Donald is the man! Coolest most likeable car guy i've seen. His voice, the way he explains things make him sound like your favourite teacher. He even pronounced "virgola" in italian the right way👍🏻 Cheers from Italy Donald🍷 never, ever sell that car again. What a beauty!
I had a Series 2 Fulvia 1.3 nearly 40 years ago. I paid 50 pounds to a neighbour for it, and started fixing it up, but it was my second car and I didn't then have the time and money to do it justice. One of the nicest little coupes to come out of Italy, I always thought it looked better than the Alfas. One of the things I should never have parted with, now I look back.
I love that thing, and i miss Donald on what's my car worth. You can just hear the quality inside and out... Solid. Having said that. I remember reading a car comparison from 72' i think that had several imported sport coupes including a Lancia Beta, Mazda Cosmos, and others and the Lancia literally disintegrated during the test. Shift linkage ( multiple times), electrical issues, starting issues, and finally bent several pushrods even though it wasn't over revved. They still loved it... but.......... They picked the Cosmos becuase it didn't break and it was affordable.
I loved listening to Donald talk about the car, his knowledge and depth was amazing. His passion is contagious, I would buy one now just for fun if I had the money.
That's funny, Jay just so happens to upload his videos once Im done working out every Sunday. The videos make for a nice distraction while Im downing some disgusting whey lol
Excellent video and guest! Thanks again Jay. I can fully agree the Fulvia was the last of the true Lancia's I had a Beta Zagato and it's nowhere near these beauties.
Wow Mr Donald is born for this!!!!! He can work with or fill in for you Mr Jay no disrespect but the chemistry between you two !!! AMAZING!!!!!! Enjoyed!!!!!!!
What an amazing looking car, especially that rear! This black dude is also pretty awesome and likable, not to mention his incredible knowledge, I'd love to see him more often on the show
"The" most articulate, knowledgeable car owner Leno has ever had on his show. The level of detail given is awesome.
Alright take his snake out of your mouth, geez. This man is an absolute genius! The Congo will be producing their own hyper car any day now and I also made sure that my daughter marries one to prove I'm not the R word. Just take it down a notch Steve.
Articulate? 🤔
Jay, you need to bring this guy back whenever you can. The chemistry between you is wonderful, and made this one of my all time favorites on this channel. Of course, the fact that this car is one of the most beautiful you've ever had on here doesn't hurt.
Flonk Bob Agreed--Osborn is what ALL black guys should be--intelligent, cultured, articulate. What's not to like?
jmshaw357 what black guy?
jmshaw357 ...and you are what ALL white guys should be ashamed to be. Idiot!
Burlats de Montaigne wtf are you talking about ?
43520tom He is talking about lumping 'all' black guys in a group. Known in the civilized world as 'racism'.
Donald, complimenti for your italian pronunciation, it's a pleasure to hear someone with so much respect and knowledge of italian cars.
Cheers from italy.
I noticed...very intentional, honorable kind of gentleman
Great voice, too😎
14:53 "...uno virgola tre..."
I really hope Donald Osborne comes back. He's a real treat. The amount of knowledge he has is amazing. Love the car talk between two car guys. I also like this car!
He has a great speaking voice too. Easy to listen to him speak his knowledge.
@@carolinashyne Knowledgeable, great story teller, and seems like a nice guy with a fun sense of humor.
He goes to the point at instant. That's how you recognize a master guru of knowledge.
On top of that, it's rare to see Jay getting so defensive at the presence of a guru.
He's great, but I prefer Jeffrey Osborne. Can you woo woo woo.
I love how Jay has one foreign accent that he uses for every foreign country.
No way man, he has 2! The german/Arnold accent, and the italian one
Wyatt G
...and does have that britishy one now and again.
Thank you for remind me, as italian, the great history of the most underrated company in italy. Lancias were built for true petrolheads. That Fulvia zagato is gorgeous.
I love Italy and Italians.
Underrated only by the uninitiated.
I like how the owner basically ran the show he had so much interesting stuff to say
I agree. He seems like a cool guy.
AirsoftWarfareHD hes on what is my car worth show and his knowledge is staggering....great car guy!
sickmrtrick Exactly! smh
@sickmrtrick - Not everyone who watches Jay Leno's Garage, have necessarily heard of Donald Osbourne. I come from Denmark, and I don't really know who he is, expect he's been visiting Jay more than once.
Donald is the best his knowledge is astonishing!!
Donald Osborne should present US Top Gear. This was great to watch.
One thing is for sure, Donald knows his car well. Interesting video of a truly unique automobile. The more I look at it, the more I like it.
See, this is what I really like about the Jay Leno garage. He's always showing the obscure (to us) and unique vehicles that I might not ever get the chance to see. Even though I might run into one at a car show, I don't get the history, or the time to really learn about them. This show is great...
Do more episodes with Donald. He's very knowledgeable and likable.
Great story. Such a grand life you've led.
Darryl Giors Donald is on the Fox channel show, What's my car worth?
He's a crazy person. I love him.
love this guy, the passion he shows and the knowledge he has is very impressive. Love to hang out and talk with him about cars for an afternoon or two.
+Arisgod27 to let him talk about cars you mean? :)
+Arisgod27 a true fellow petrolhead
So knowlegable on Laaancha!
yeah but he is racist
Smokey Bear why would you say that?
I love Donald Osborne on "What's My Car Worth". He provides a wealth of information on this beautiful car and it's one of the few times a guest is able to keep Jay quiet.
Donald is awesome! Please bring him back, Jay -- he's a treasure trove of information and has incredible taste!
After watching this ... I think I'm a Lancia fan.
That is one cool looking car. Very 60's European styling. And I like the fact that the engineering is top notch. I want one!
This guy needs his own show.
We need him on the Top Gear show in UK
he's on the JLG TV show but yea i would enjoy it if he did his own show aswell
Yeah,to run the Catering for Clarkson that he don't get fired for a non-existent Steak, serious Antonio a Bloke from " Muerica " ain't nuffin for a European Super-Car-Show, ( even if Matt Le`Blance today is slightly better and nicer than Chris Evans),they got no Clue them Septics ( Tank/Yank ) and just the Accent and the Way they say Aluminium,Rubbish, complete bad Idea this, like the Pope hosting Tutti-Frutty....

Donald was a wealth of knowledge and made it look easy to share his knowledge.
Donald and Jay should do more episodes together!
Agreed
Or just Donald. He actually knows what he's talking about.
Leno: "Those are obviously the stock wheels". Donald: "Uh, these are not the stock wheels".

I was thinking the same, hope Jay sees your comment
They should make a roadtrip to Europe.
Donald Osborne should drop by more often. This was a great, informative episode.
That's a nice looking car.
i like donald , proper car nerd
+motokrack wish I had such friends with such a passion :D
M
Guy knows his stuff to be sure!!
He should feature this guy again. love it
This was a good episode and I fell in love with that car.
My Italian mate says "Larnchia".
Found this segment on Lancia immensely enjoyable and interesting. Great talent Donald Osborne as well. One of the best episodes for mine in the Jay Leno's Garage series.
Best guest ever!!!! I want him to have his own youtube show!
What a great looking car, love the colour, love the interior. Jay is very right when he says, the more you look at it the more you appreciate it.
I really enjoyed this one. The owner is very knowledgeable, and a true enthusiast.

I drive a 1989 Jeep. I’ve often said if that’s the newest vehicle I ever drive the rest of my life I’ll be happy
True
My dad has one of these, a 1968 series 1 Fulvia Zagato in dark blue, bought about 4 years ago in italy where it was last on the road in 1986 (the year I was born) and until then resided in a barn with other rare classics including, strangely, a 50's ford thunderbird.

Lucky bugger...
Wow awesome
Donald Osborne is the definition of word connoisseur. Knowledge and such good taste in automobiles.
Donald Osborne is the intellectual of car owners.
I love it and you can tell he loves it.
I'm the same way with my BMW E21 320i that I'm restoring.
i can listen to donald all day long.his enthusiasm is fantastic.i love it when people like him are so into something & love to share their excitement & knowledge with others!great episode jay!!
More videos with Donald Osborne, please. This guy is great.
Brilliant owner who really knows his stuff. Lovely car
Agreed. Donald knows his stuff. Great Job. Thumbs up!!
this car really does get better the more you see it. it kinds grew on me after some months, I think I've watched parts of this show 3 or 4 times now.
And another vote for Donald Osborne as a returning guest!
A wonderful car in every way, I am envious. The owner is a man of discernment, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his car. This car represents the peak of automotive engineering and quality that 'normal" people might buy. We will never see it's like again.
It is always nice to see a person who is passionate and well informed sharing the things that interest them.
I will watch anything with Jay and Donald. Brilliant episode. I still watch this nearly 8 years later! Donald you're as beloved as Jay is, my man!
Wow.. That guy is like an encyclopedia. He needs his own show!
I could listen to these two guys talk all day. And, that car. Damn, it's beautiful.
I am with Jay on this one. The more I look at the car, the more I like it. Really attractive, you get a nice boxy front end and a curvy rear and they work together. BOLD. Amazing how expensive this car was when new. XKE or this? Are you nuts?
The rear of it actually reminded me of a Jensen
Mickey Cook
I fricking love the Interceptor!
I agree as well. The more the owner talked out the design and engineering on this car, the more I liked it.
Thank you Jay, growing up in Italy this was one of my favorite cars. Too bad they are so rare nowadays. Although, if you want to do FWD Lancia's the little HF rally car, red with flat black hood is really my absolute dream car.
Magnificent cars, superb performance but unfortunately rust is their Achilles' tendon. great episode, great guest, great car. Watching these has given me huge appreciation for Jay and old school engineering!

This guy is a total Car Geek. He totally rocks. I'd happily drive with him for hours and just listen to him go on and on.
It would be a privilege to talk cars with such an enthusiast
Donald Osborne should have his own show. Wow, does he know his stuff. I could listen to him impart his expertise all day.
I passed over this video when it was released because I wasnt familiar with the brand, and the thumbnail picture didnt float my boat, but now that Ive watched it and see the car from different angles, my god that thing is sexy! It's amazing to listening the " Zagato's " Owner to be so well informed about Lancia's Car's historically backgrounds.
Such a beautiful car,I have always had a soft spot for Italian small sports cars and this is one of the best.
I love Lancia so much, such a shame that Fiat doesn't care about it.
Jay makes the same Chrysler chicken bone turn signal joke at 24:05 that he made 7 years later in his Feb 2021 review of a Pontiac WS6 Trans Am.😁 UA-cam realized it & recommended this video to me after watching the other one.
Beautiful car Jay, and Donald too. It was a pleasure to see it.
Always a pleasure to see Donald and Jay do a show together. A wealth of knowledge, and you can see they really like each other.
Great interview--that owner was very knowledgable.
I absolutely love the Lancias styling. Such great, original designs.
The refined gentleman owner of the Lancia, knows very well his car and articulate extremely well.
Very impressed by the knowledge of the owner, my uncle owns a 89' Delta and he would get fresh facts about Lancia off this video. Lancia is such a fascinating marque. What a channel!
Love this guy, he is super knowledgeable.
What a great glimpse of a rare and beautiful car that was overlooked by many thru the decades.
His voice is addictive, imagine a conversation between him, James Earl Jones, and Morgan Freeman.....EPIC!!!!
you like black men. we get it
What a beautifully sculpted and engineered car!
Mr. Leno's , that's a smart guest you got there 👍🏽
So good to hear two real enthusiasts talking about a really lovely little car, which was so advanced for it's time. Must confess, I'm a little biased, as I had a 1974 Fulvia coupe, which was a joy to drive - great brakes, great handling and a lovely, "raspy" exhaust note. Even after all these years...I still miss it !! Great video, thank you.
The look on Jay's face when dude was naming off the different models with the near lady parts names was hilarious.
His encyclopedic knowledge, and his pronunciation of Lancia and Campagnolo, prove him worthy of those pants. What a great guest!
Wow! Mr. Osborne's knowledge about cars is encyclopedic!!
Those two are hilarious together. I’ve been following Donald ever since I first saw this. He is such a charming and kind and intelligent snob. Gotta love em both!
the best jay leno episode to date!! Love donald and his knowledge around lancia!
grazie mille!
really really great that you're holding the history of these rare cars up! Your Show here should air on TV!!!
I love his enthusiasm
I love how respectful they talk to each other! 👌🏻
very very VERY cool car mr. Osborne! Good to see a real euro-car connaisseur. Love the car stories.
Donald is the man! Coolest most likeable car guy i've seen. His voice, the way he explains things make him sound like your favourite teacher. He even pronounced "virgola" in italian the right way👍🏻
Cheers from Italy Donald🍷 never, ever sell that car again. What a beauty!
Zagato are great at designing cars, one of my favorite looking cars is the DB4 Zagato.
One of the best reviews on this channel. A pleasure to watch and learn. Thanks!
The history of lancia is very interesting
That's where I know him from thank you
I loved listening to Donald talk about the car, his knowledge and depth was amazing. His passion is contagious, I would buy one now just for fun if I had the money.
was just about to hit the gym. when i see this ,now am going to be 30 minutes lates. :)
That's funny, Jay just so happens to upload his videos once Im done working out every Sunday. The videos make for a nice distraction while Im downing some disgusting whey lol
Haha nice , woh really? You should try optimum nutrition whey it's really good.
Ahahahahaah! I know :))
Love it. I had a Fulvia when I was stationed in Sicily. So much fun to drive.
Definately one of the better episodes. Fascinating car.
Excellent video and guest! Thanks again Jay. I can fully agree the Fulvia was the last of the true Lancia's I had a Beta Zagato and it's nowhere near these beauties.
The Flavia 2000 was their last new design before being taken over by the FIAT group
Jay, Fulvia is an Italian Womans name. My mother had an Italian lady of that name work for her at one time.
Donald is just a joy to watch. I love his personality
