JUST LISTEN TO THAT!! How could ANY band be better than that? I LOVE these guys! I have played guitar since the early 70's and Poco was then and is now my top favorite band! They make me feel good. Just listening to their music brings me up!! The Eagles could never be as good as Poco I just can't understand why Poco was not on the top. They were what defines every other band in that genre of music. No one ,No band could ever best Poco! They are THE best band !
Like Jim Messina said: they were "too rock for country, too country for rock" for the radio...but they were the soundtrack to my youth, and the music never gets old...
That’s why I like this song the rockabilly country then transition to the hard blues guitar solo. Not to mention the harmonies and the underlying organ synth.
I am 53 and I have been a huge "old" Poco fan since high school. They were so amazing, and yes, their music takes me back to my youth. Thank you for posting this music!
This song is sublime. It doesn't really matter what Poco are saying - the lead vocal, harmonies, beautiful steel guitar and connection between the entire band make it a rare and special performance. Indian Summer is the one reason Poco are the most inspired country rock band ever. Listening to Indian Summer every time feels like a first on each occasion.
Paul Cotton is SO talented -- divine singer, awesome guitarist, and SO simply gorgeous but yet he seems to be so nonchalent. I could listen to his guitar playing forever. Great band!!! Simply a GREAT band.
This was great music for the hiway. I always remember the sunset in Wyoming many years ago listening to the "Legend" album. Those were awesome times and happy days.
My favorite version of this great song.. maybe as much to do with seeing Paul and Timothy B. singing/playing (and a few glimpses of a seriously concentrating Rusty) as anything else. THANKS for uploading.
I'm 42, and LOVE POCO, since I was a tiny, little kid and their songs were NEW on AM and FM radio (not too many big radio hits, though sadly), and love their playing and how they 'mesh' playing and singing. Still one of my favorite top 3 or 4 bands out of 100's! Paul C up there playing that big, famous Gretsch White Falcon (expensive!), Rusty Young and -- Timothy B - just literally months before he became an Eagle. So great! Indian Summer is a sentimental favorite for me...Cheers!
The band used to stay at the New York Sheridan many moons ago. Me and my girl would take their clothes up to the room from the valet laundry and that's how we got to meet the band. Three or four times and each time they were are friendly and down to earth as possible. Got to see them over a dozen in as many years and always paid for a great show. It's a Good Feelin' To Know. Definitely native sons-not from NY.
One of my all time favorite bands. Rusty inspired me to buy a steel guitar, Tim inspired me to sing harmony, Paul inspired my guitar playing. Great band, great tune!
There album "From the Inside" was huge in the 70's. At least where I grew up in NE Jersey. Love these guys. Way ahead of there time like most monsters back in that day.
Not only was the band under rated, each of the individuals has never received the credit they deserve. Paul Cotton is a tremendous all-rounder. Ditto Schmidt and Young. And George Grantham was a wonderfully musical drummer. Great players putting out great tunes and with a great sound. Tunes like this and Rose of Cimmaron still melt me...
I was in the late 60's/early 70's a huge Poco fan. I still am. But, to echo your sentiments, I stopped taking dates to Poco concerts back in the day, because inevitably, they would all fall in love with TBS! Man, I thought I was turning them on to good music, and all they wanted was him. Geesh! Bummer for me.
This was a great album I'll always treasure, but this was the last great Poco album for me, because Timothy B.Schmit left the band! Yes, the 78 album was good, and there are great songs in other albums, but this was the end of the great Poco years for me:1968 to 1977!
I LOVE Poco and the Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac...people think its odd cos I'm a Pacific Island/Maori, not quite 30 - I guess they expect me to be into pop/hip hop etc, which I am but this stuff is awesome... :)
I'm a Poconut from way back but I have to say I've never heard this song before. It must be one of the first songs after Richie split because Timothy is still with the band. Great song! Thank's for posting it.
Just saw Timothy B. Schmit 12-7-09 at Portland's Aladdin Theater. Voice hasn't aged one bit, and he had a backing band every bit as musically talented as The Eagles. I would have been thrilled to see a solo acoustic show for my $21. ticket but he treated us to the full album sound of the new songs from "Expando" plus his classic stuff from Poco and The Eagles. "I Can't Tell You Why" was note for note as perfect as the original on "The Long Run." What a night!
@MrCainandabel, I am 28 and have loved classic rock my whole life. It's only been in the last year or so that I have really discovered Poco, and LOVED them. Even though I wasn't alive when the music came out, I do feel much simpler and more peaceful, and well, happier whenever I hear them. Keep enjoying!
paul cotton-guitar and vocals, rusty young-pedal steel, harmony, timothy schmidt-bass, harmony, don grantham-drums harmony. i'd love to see a don felder paul-cotton album.
@gol7on4 Richie Furray and Jim Messina came from Buffalo to form Poco in 1968 I believe and started in Denver, Co. Great mucians that have made it a lifetime and are still going! YES!
Gosh, it didn't get any better than POCO, FIREFALL, EAGLES, AND TOTO in the 70s. They were among my favorite bands of all time, and their music is still timeless. Somebody help me out; what's the lead singers name, and is his hair red? I'm a little color blind : (
It was warm yesterday and the sun was out.... on November 19th. Brought to mind this song by Poco.. That's Timothy B. Schmidt on bass. Wonder whatever happened to Timothy B. Schimdt? Hope he found work in some other band - hate to think he's broke and scrapping by giving bass lessons to teenage boys - and eating Hungry Man soup he made on a hot plate at night in his one room basement apartment.
Yeah that's funny and I hope Frey and Henley are laughing too All very talented guys. I don't think Tim is eating Hungry man Soup . He exercises and keeps himself in great shape (something i should start doing). I don't perceive that being an Eagle has changed him much and if there were a change, I believe his love for music would have him leave and move in another desired direction. Still appears that he has his humble and kind character - knows he is talented and doesn't flaunt or brag about it. Would be nice to meet him, Saw poco many times, but that was after he left.
97teledlx Timothy B. Schimdt is terrific. I was just commenting on the fact that he left Poco - a great band -- and entered the Eagles. I assume this meant some millions of dollars - which he earned. I wish all guys who leave one band I love should have the same luck. The Eagles are great too. :)
why are people so obsessed with popular success? would it enhance your appreciation for the music if they had been big million sellers? sometimes huge commercial success does not have a positive effect on creativity or inspiration. the music of Poco is still there to enjoy. have a good time, listen, and forget about what "should have been".
So what if the Establishment did not recognize it. In the days when this was written being discovered and blasted over the airwave was a sign of selling out. So they just kept creating wonnderful music and trust me they had plenty of fans in and out of the music industry. I just love to hear them again. That's reward enough for me.
Great music but people need to look deeper into this kind of music.. the early stages of this music were created by Ricky Nelson.. many of the original Poco, Eagles and other bands got their start with Ricky in his Stone Canyon Band. This was real music and was so under-rated during its days.. but one thing about good music. it lives on forever and music of Ricky, Poco, Eagles and other bands similar will live forever.
Terrible shame Paul Cotton was shut out of the band because Rusty wanted to be the leader. Paul deserved a better share of the band and equal status with Rusty. His ongoing request was rejected by Rusty, and that's why he disappeared. Shame.
@XFiles1993 That is great that you found them! Timothy B. Schmidt is the bass player in this video(the guy with the long hair) he was Poco's "2nd" bass player. Their first was Randy Miesner who lleft and went to the Eagles and then Tim took his place in Poco. Then when Randy left the Eagles, Tim took his place there too! Either way, great music!
Poco forever !!!!
Rip Paul cotton thank you for the memories.
Great song! Poco deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. True innovators.
Absolutely..
JUST LISTEN TO THAT!! How could ANY band be better than that? I LOVE these guys! I have played guitar since the early 70's and Poco was then and is now my top favorite band! They make me feel good. Like Jim Messina said: they were "too rock for country, too country for rock" for the radio...but they were the soundtrack to my youth, and the music never gets old...
shows you how screwed up radio programming became because good music is good music..
That’s why I like this song the rockabilly country then transition to the hard blues guitar solo. Not to mention the harmonies and the underlying organ synth.
greatness of Paul Cotton...
They are and have always been a great guitar band.
Paul Cotton knocked it out of the park with this song !
He is awesome
I am 53 and I have been a huge "old" Poco fan since high school. They were so amazing, and yes, their music takes me back to my youth. Thank you for posting this music!
Oh ya baby Paul singin, playn and looking good. Rest of the band aint too shabby either

This song takes u 2 a whole different place in time. Classic tune
I love Poco so much. I was born in 1990 and this song makes me feel nostalgic for a time I never lived in. So good!
Is this 1990? Was wondering
@@Diana-lq5yj It was from 1977, long before 1990
@@marisha4sure not the song ... The video. Ive been a Poco fan since the beginning. Saw them first in 1970 Overton Park Shell Memphis, TN
Always ticks me off that the world fell in love with the Eagles and never 'got' Poco or Pure Prairie League.
I remember when I first heard this on the radio. I was hooked. This is their best tune.
Best tune of 1977
This was great music for the hiway. I always remember the sunset in Wyoming many years ago listening to the "Legend" album. Those were awesome times and happy days.

I've always loved this song! Especially now that it's autumn.
Such a great song, love the White Falcon Gretsch tone! I wish I could have seen Poco back in the day.
They all are great singers , One the Best Bands in The World,
The band used to stay at the New York Sheridan many moons ago.
When this song came out, every other song faded into it's shadow.
The Eagles had to steal Timothy and sign Joe as a free agent before they could surpass Poco......by far the #1 country-rock band EVER !
and Randy
One of my all time favorite bands. Rusty inspired me to buy a steel guitar, Tim inspired me to sing harmony, Paul inspired my guitar playing. Great band, great tune!
They were perfect for me!!!! Paul was a great guitarist....
I could look at Timothy B Schmit all day - would love to have seen him back in the day
This is such a great track
Im thankful every day to have grown up with true and honest talent like POCO. We'll never see the likes of this again.
Far and away my favorite Poco song. Thank You.
There album "From the Inside" was huge in the 70's. At least where I grew up in NE Jersey. Love these guys. Way ahead of there time like most monsters back in that day.
Just heard this song radio never heard beforeckid in70s in Australia maybe more usa hit luv it just shazammed it!
Love Poco! My favorite band....love to watch Paul play the guitar...
I was raised on Poco and Im 33. Great music and I play it around my kids. Poco should've been given more recognition for their music.
Very nice.
There was a beautiful vibration to their music, along with a heartfelt quality.
Love this track. A lovely breezy summer feel to this track.
dave
Forever in love with POCO
This is my favorite line-up of Poco: Rusty Young, Paul Cotton, Timothy B. Schmit and George Grantham

Just when I thought I heard everything from Poco they realeased this. Fantastic title song from a very underated album.
💜🕊️💜
Beautiful music for some beautiful memories
what a hidden gem...a diamond
this pioneering spurred my many hikes in the Wilderness areas---solo, almost the best time of my life
This was a great album I'll always treasure, but this was the last great Poco album for me, because Timothy B.Schmit left the band! Yes, the 78 album was good, and there are great songs in other albums, but this was the end of the great Poco years for me:1968 to 1977!

I have always loved Poco, thanks for sharing this treasure!
Very very nice Poco and Eagles
I'm a Poconut from way back but I have to say I've never heard this song before. It must be one of the first songs after Richie split because Timothy is still with the band. Great song! Thank's for posting it.
Rusty Young on steel guitar!
Sweet!
Love these guys> Poco is great
Best band before the Eagles
Best band after the Eagles too!
❤️

Good to see Timothy B. on Bass Guitar ! Love this song !
a dvd of all these old film clips would be nice rusty.and old live concerts as well any one agree with me .anyway keep it country and southern amen
Just saw Timothy B. Schmit 12-7-09 at Portland's Aladdin Theater. Voice hasn't aged one bit, and he had a backing band every bit as musically talented as The Eagles. One of my all time fav. bands
I agree, as far as just classic music goes, Poco is very and always be underrated compared to the Eagles
that steel guitar and solo .. Rusty playing some Eagle sounds there before T B Schmit joined them
Great album!!!!
@MrCainandabel, I am 28 and have loved classic rock my whole life. It's only been in the last year or so that I have really discovered Poco, and LOVED them. This reminds me of HEART OF THE NIGHT.
Rusty.. WOW. you had hair... Just busting your chops. Love ya Man.
Paul Cotton, mmmmmmm!!!!!
RIP Paul Cotton and Rusty Young
So sad Rusty and Paul are gone. So so sad
Look at Paul and Rusty with hair!
I can't stop looking at paul. Hes magnetic.
RIP Paul.
paul cotton-guitar and vocals, rusty young-pedal steel, harmony, timothy schmidt-bass, harmony, don grantham-drums harmony.
i'd love to see a don felder paul-cotton album.
journey46 Also Donald Fagen was in on this on the original recording
Yes me too I still prefer Paul. I just love him
Please post more Poco Songs and thank you for the ones you have already uploaded.
@gol7on4 Richie Furray and Jim Messina came from Buffalo to form Poco in 1968 I believe and started in Denver, Co. Great mucians that have made it a lifetime and are still going! YES!
❤ 🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷
I always preferred Poco to Eagles.
By quite a bit, actually.
But that's just me.

Indian Summer, my favorite album of all. Except for maybe Keep on Trying and Cantamous. (They are close.)
Without these guys no eagle s

Bob Paterson Hardee Har Har Har!
Awesooomme video!!!
Now this is REAL music... The idiot radio stations should be totally ASHAMED not playing this and other lost classics over the airways!
why are people so obsessed with popular success? would it enhance your appreciation for the music if they had been big million sellers? sometimes huge commercial success does not have a positive effect on creativity or inspiration. the music of Poco is still there to enjoy. have a good time, listen, and forget about what "should have been".
@pretorious700 you got that right partner....................well said
So what if the Establishment did not recognize it. In the days when this was written being discovered and blasted over the airwave was a sign of selling out. Oh that's awful. Paul is awesome
This was a great album..loved the title tune and a pretty solid album top to bottom..just no top 40 hit, but a great tune.
@OGENELLLA no.what REALLY sucks is that they weren't BIGGER(in popularity and record sales)than the eagles.
@XFiles1993 That is great that you found them! Timothy B. Schmidt is the bass player in this video(the guy with the long hair) he was Poco's "2nd" bass player. who really suck is those who have "disliked" the video
I love Poco. Is that Paul Cotton singing and Rusty Young on slide or do I have it backwards?
Thanks for posting!
steel guitar does it
