I was so lucky! I started looking for a BT puppy in late January before your course was available, and there were very few local breeders in the Chicago area. Only one breeder responded to me, and I drove out to see the puppies and their mother (and auntie) the next day. This was not an AKC breeder, but all the puppies were lively and adorable. I chose a puppy but had to wait 3 weeks till she was old enough to come home. The breeder did not require a deposit. Kammy (named for the VP) is a red Boston with hazel eyes--she is bright, playful, healthy and affectionate :)
